E3000 and VoIP

I have an E3000 Router upgraded to the latest firmware. Before i upgraded to the latest firmware (1.0.03 build 2   <script type="text/javascript">// replace_date("Sep. 7, 2010"); // </script> Sep 7, 2010) my VoIP (Polycom 670) was working fine. Now it cannot connect to the boot server to get its configuration.
HELP!

You have already upgraded the firmware on your router.
After upgrading the firmware on the router, it is recommended that you should reset the router and reconfigure it. Press and hold the reset button on the router for 30 seconds. Release the reset button and wait for 30 seconds. Power cycle the router and reconfigure it.

  • How to set up VLAN for DATA and VOIP on SRW248G4P switch?

    Hi guys,
I am totally new and was given this task to complete. I  really really need help.
We are using one network 192.168.1.0
    Shared  with data and voip.
    CISCO C870, 5 switches LINKSYS SRW248G4P .
    The  email wrote:-
    On the Linksys switch;
    - create two  different VLANs one for voice and one for data.
    - put a firewall  between the two VLANs (between voice and data) and only enable certain  ports to flow to voice network (inbound tcp 8443 and ssh )
What  should i do guys? I really need a dumb guide now.
I know its simple for  you guys but i am not a smart IT fella. Whats the  step by step?

If the switch is new or you have support on this, then you might try calling the support center.  Here is a link:
    https://www.myciscocommunity.com/community/smallbizsupport
On the right hand side you can find links to the support center.
Here is a link to the guide:
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/ps9967/prod_maintenance_guides_list.html
@ the bottom of this link you can find your switch model, you want the larger of the two.  In this guide it shows you how to create a second vlan.
Will your router be the firewall between the two?

  • X5800 how to use SIP and VOIP

Hello, I have a X5800 music, model 5800d-1 and I can enter all the necessary SIP data. I get the message (settings, connectivity, admin settings, sip settings) registered which is fine. My provider is freephonie. Question: 1) Although on the freebox the SIP is activated, I don't receive incoming call on my nokia. 2) How do I tell my nokia to call on the internet ? Is it possible only using SIP tel numbers which I can enter in the contacts list? Help much appreciated. Pierre.

SIP and VoIP are not synonymous. VoIP can indeed use SIP (and often does), but other services, such as video sharing for example, also use SIP.
It so happens that the 5800 has no native support for VoIP, which is why you can't make SIP calls using it.
Your only solution for SIP is to use third-party services such as fring, for example. Once logged into your fring account you can subscribe to a SIP service. Fring's systems will register to the SIP account and relay the comminucation through your fring account. There's lag and the audio quality isn't as good as a direct SIP connection but at least it works.
The alternative is to use a phone that supports VoIP/SIP natively.

  • Doubt about integration CUCM and VoIP Provider

    Hi Guys,
I have the follow doubt: Is possible to do integration CUCM and VoIP Provider using authentication? Is there necessary another equipment to do this? CUBE for example? or another alternative
    Thanks,
    Wilson

If you are referring to authentication over sip trunk, then NO! CUCM doesn't do authentication you will need a CUBE for that

  • E3000 and guest account problems

I will add ot the E3000 funkiness, I have reset my router 6 times now trying to get the right combination of settings.
What I am attemtping to do is simply change my SSID to my personal one and still have the guest account work. I change my SSID and ip address space (many devices in the house with static IP's for my personal /24, I don't want to change).
When I do these two things only, nothing else, the guest feature no longer works. I get a 192.x address, gateway and DNS look fine via the DHCP assignment, but routing is not working, can't ping the gateway and I od course do not get any Cisco password login.
If I completely reset my E3000 and make no changes to IP space everything works fine.
    Ideas, thoughts?

    Replying to self...
Well after hours of experimenting and talking to tech support, I have this working.
I have all features working as advertised using the web interface (not the connect program), I have dual SSID's (not hidden) for each band with different passwords, mac address filtering, port forwarding, blah blah blah and the guest account!!!.
The main issue I found was if I tried changing the default ip pool from the 192.168.1.x to something else, then the guest account would stop working as well as some other routing issue occured.
I had to renumber 5 machines out of my previously registered space, but it was worth the effort. I have 2 MAC's, 2 Airports, 1 Ubuntu PC, 4 windows (G,N and GE physical), 1 Wii, 1 XBoX 360 and a media WHS all connected and working great.
I am sure Cisco/Linksys will release firmware to get rid of this issue and some other nusances, but overall I am impressed with this router.

  • Equivalent to the e3000 and wet610n devices

    Hi,
In an "small business" environment, which Cisco appliances are, more or less, equivalent to the Linksys e3000 and to the Linksys WET610N ?

  • E3000 and IPAD : No INTERNET

    Hi,
I have recently purchase a LINKSYS E3000 and IPAD (Wifi only). The E3000 looks to work good, It works with PC (Vista) Imac, notebook (G-wireless) and also with NAS server and also Samsung TV.
The E3000 is connected with Internet with Cable. All devices have fixed IP address and use two DNS address to get to internet.
    No problem there.
But using the IPAD I CAN get connection to other devices, like NAS server, but when I want to go to INTERNET, I get the message NO INTERNET CONNECTION.
I tried several thing, rebooting E3000 and IPAD. Clearing network settings IPAD and entering again. No result.
I tried several wireless setting from the E3000, but without any result, I have NO MAC-address restriction or IP restrictions.
All other device will connect to internet, but the IPAD doesn't.
When connecting the IPAD to the E3000 and looking with the Webinterface to status of the router is discovered something VERY STRANGE:
The statespage (on the right) gives you normally the ip address and DNS of cable internet, but on the IPAD it was EMPTY.
When opening this pages on PC or Imac, it is filled with information. On the IPAD only this page is not completely filled.
    HELP?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

What is the Internet IP address on the status page of the router?
You can also access the NAS server that means it is connected to the Local network.
As you have mentioned that when you open the setup page of the router on IPAD, it does not give you any value for Internet Ip address. It is very strange.
All your devices are set to fixed IP addresses.
Do you have any IP address setup on IPAD?
Try to upgrade/re-flash the firmware on the router. Download the latest firmware from Linksys website and upgrade it on your router.
After upgrading the firmware on the router, it is recommended that you should reset the router and reconfigure it. Press and hold the reset button on the router for 30 seconds. Release the reset button and wait for 10 seconds. Power cycle the router and reconfigure it.

  • Port Range Forwarding Problem for E3000 and Iomega HMNHD Cloud

I'm trying to set up an Iomega Home Media Network Cloud NAS and I'm having problems with opening ports 50500-50599.  I have opened port 80 and 443 successfully and included the above port range above as well, but when I check it on www.yougetsignal.com the ports 50500-50599 are still closed.  I even tried to split the range in two parts, and still no success.  I have been in contact with my ISP and confirmed they do not block any ports in the 50500-50599 range and that the cable modem (a Motorola SBV5120) is operating in Bridge Mode.
I am operating under an older firmware and hope that is not the cause of this problem.  Also, using Win7 and Vista (tried and failed on 2 laptops).
Did I forget anything?  Any suggestions/solutions?  Thanks.

You may want to check out the list of tested hard drives to work with this router first. The link is E3000 and E2100L hard disk compatibility list. Based on the list, your iomega home media is not included. On the link for the tested hard drives to work with E3000, it is indicated that if your hard drive is not on the list, it may or may not work. With your case, since it is not working it may be due to compatibility issue.

  • Linksys E3000 cascaded, VoiP router not working

I have a Linksys E3000 router, with a Linksys SPA2012 VoIP router connected to it.  I can't get the voice to work.  The configuration is:
    cable modem => cisco870 => Linksys E3000 => Linksys SPA2102
(the Linksys E3000 is connected to cisco871 via Internet port)
Everything works fine (ethernet, wireless) for all devices connected to cisco871 and E3000, EXCEPT for the VoIP phone.  Is there a special configuration I need on the SPA2101 to get this to work?
    Thanks in advance!

  • SIP and VOIP

    Hey..
I have almost succesfully published and allowed RTP and SIP through TMG, we can make calls from the VOIP phone, but we are unable to receive calls.
When we call the VOIP phone then it sends UDP traffic ranging from 10.000 to 50.000 and that UDP traffic gets stopped by the TMG. We dont have an internal BPX so we cant publish in that range because we have several phones. What can i do? :)

I got about a similar problem.
    Need of internal soft.
phone call to an external PBX
over SIP and RTP protocol ssupport.
I made setting VIOP the wizardin
    TMG.We set the Advaced
VIOP setting IP address of thePBX.
    When I call the soft.phone
    out it's OK.
When someone calls from out side to inside, the phone rings, but
    do not hear anything.
Did you have the same problem?

  • ITouch Javascript and Voip Questions

I'd like to get an IPod Touch or an HP iPAQ 211.
I need to be able to transfer some small html files that utilize javascript and rely on a small directory structure. I'd be glad to post the files or send them to anyone who requests them.
Basically I have several construction calculators that are coded in html and utilize javascript to compute the answer. The directory structure is simple just a single folder that contains two folders. One of the folders has the javascript and the other folder has the html calculators.
Just open the html calculator and populate the fields and press calculate then the javascript populates the answer fields. I'd be glad to send a pair of files for testing as i'd like to take the device with me when I leave for Afghanistan.
That leads to my next question does the iTouch 3g support Voip and some sort of instant messaging platform if utilized over a wi-fi connection?
Message was edited by: Mr Bro

I've seen youtube vids where files are transfered to the touch. I've read it supports javascript. Apple has a no refund policy so I'd like to have two files both under 60k transfered and set up in folders in the root directory to test if the html file can be opened from within the device and if the calculator will function properly to populate the answer when the javascript is ran via the compute button on the html page.
    Thx for the tips/info.

  • Questions about Gateways and VOIP

First~~~ please do not be mad with me.since my questions sound some how stupid.
    1. We use gateway between PSTN and IP network. But in PSTN, the voice is analogue. But in IP network, the data is digital. Which role does gateway act? The D/A converter, beside some necessary protocol translation?
    2. What is the difference of PSTN and ISDN? I think there is no requirement of gateway between the connection of ISDN and IP network.
    3. In PSTN, the signaling protocol is SS7. In IP network, the signaling protocol is TCP for data transmission, and SIP/H.323 for voice transmission such as VOIP. What is the signaling protocol for ISDN?
    4. When we talk each other in MSN or ICQ,by microphone and speaker, which protocol in use in this case? still H.323? I do not think so. I guess still TCP?!
    thanks for your answer~~~~

Hi lily dont worry we r here to learn!
    1. PSTN and IP
A gateway is the point at which a circuit-switched call is encoded and repackaged into IP packets.
For that we use DSP (Digital Signal Processor)
The Gateway converts media provided in one type of network to the format required for another type of network. For example, a Gateway could terminate bearer channels from a switched circuit network (i.e., DS0s) and media streams from a packet network (e.g., RTP streams in an IP network). This gateway may be capable of processing audio, video and T.120 alone or in any combination, and is capable of full duplex media translations. The Gateway may also play audio/video messages and performs other IVR functions, or may perform media conferencing.
In VoIP, the digital signal processor (DSP) segments the voice signal into frames and stores them in voice packets. These voice packets are transported using IP in compliance with one of the specifications for transmitting multimedia (voice, video, fax and data) across a network: H.323 (ITU), MGCP (level 3,Bellcore, Cisco, Nortel), MEGACO/H.GCP (IETF), SIP (IETF), T.38 (ITU), SIGTRAN (IETF), Skinny (Cisco) etc.
I always think in Analog (FXO, FXS) and Digital T1, E1, E&M, etc) and IP packets.
    2. PSTN = Public Switch Telephony Network
The worldwide voice telephone network. Once only an analog system, the heart of most telephone networks today is all digital.
ISDN (Integrated Services Digital Network) is an all digital communications line that allows for the transmission of voice, data, video and graphics, at very high speeds, over standard communication lines. ISDN provides a single, common interface with which to access digital communications services that are required by varying devices, while remaining transparent to the user
    http://www.ralphb.net/ISDN/defs.html
Yes, you need a GW for the conversion.
    3. ISDN for voice transmission Q921/Q931 (Layer 2 and Layer 3)
    4. I believe now MSN uses SIP and SIMPLE.
