E3000 Lost Wireless in New Apartment

I have a Linksys E3000, and my Windows 7 laptop stopped connecting after moving to a new apartment.  I was previously living in an apartment building where I could see multiple other wireless access points, but I had no connection problems.
Wired connections work perfectly.  I was able to get the wireless to connect a couple of times.  One time it was after I updated the router to the latest firmware.
I am using my own SSID with WPA2-Personal.
I have tried:
- Unplugging / re-plugging the router
- Changing the channels
- Factory reset
- Updating to latest firmware
Any other ideas?

You have to download the iPhone version of the app - if there are two different versions and if you do not want to pay for the iPad version.
Look in the App Store for the iPhone version and then try to download that one,

  • Can't set up TC in new apartment with new Internet connection

I'm trying to set up a Time Capsule in my new apartment. I can't. Here's an outline:
--I just moved (from the Southwest back to the Northeast). I set up my TC for the first time in the Southwest and used it as a wireless router with the DSL service I had there. I never had problems.
--I just had Internet service set up in my new apartment here (cable). I connected the modem to my TC. At first, the TC flashed amber; my MacBook detected the device but gave an error message that said that it was not connected to the Internet. I followed an online tip and disconnected the modem from its power source for a short time before reconnecting it and connecting it to the TC again. The TC's status light went solid green--and then went back to flashing amber. It now seems to alternate every few minutes.
--I'm able to use the TC as a non-wireless router without problems (that is, I have an ethernet cable running from the cable modem to the TC's main input and another running from one of its outputs to my laptop). What's more, my Airport utility seems to think it's connected to the wireless network I set up on the TC (it shows a checkmark next to the network's name). But the only way I'm connected is with the ethernet cable.
    Any suggestions? Thanks.

    I suggest trying the following:
o Power-down the modem, TC & computer(s). Order is not critical.
o While powered-down, perform a "factory default" reset on the TC. When done, power-down the TC.
o Power-up the modem; wait at least 10-15 minutes.
o Power-up the TC; wait at least 5-10 minutes.
    o Power-up the computer(s).
The computer(s) should now be able to access the Internet either by wire or wireless from the TC. Please post back your results.

  • E3000 poor wireless signal

I recently parted with my ancient Linksys BEFW11S4 router to get the E3000.  I live in a 2 bedroom apartment, not very big.  The old router's wireless signal didn't reach the living room about 20 feet away.  I was under the impression the E3000's wireless signal strength was much greater.  However I was disappointed to find out that my PS3 and Laptop are still not able to connect to the internet.  My laptop will sometimes get connection, but only 1 bar or 3 at max.  The PS3 does not pick up the signal at all.  It is broadcasting mixed so my PS3 should pick up the 802.11 g and the laptop 802.11 n.  However neither is performing as advertised.  The E3000 is designed to support a 2 story house wireless but it can't even support my small apartment.  Am I doing something wrong?  Why is the signal strength so terrible?

I am having a very simalar issue with my E3000. I was running only G with my E3000 becuase of a compatibility issue with a WGA54G. I tossed the WGA54G and got a D-Link DAP1522 so that all my devices (PS3, Netbook, iPhone) would be N. I have a few questions.
What should my real world transfer speeds be? I am transfering from a NAS drive (not using the USB port, an Ethernet NAS) and getting 1.5MBps which isn't any faster than when I was on G. If I use 5ghz band the speeds are much worse. I tried every channel with both 2 & 5ghz and very little difference between channels although a few were worse than others.
I haven't realoaded firmware yet and I haven't changed the advanced settings so I will be doing those next.
I have seen a few time to set these settings:
"Change the Beacon Interval to 75,Change the Fragmentation Threshold to 2304,Change the RTS Threshold to 2304"
For my information how are these setting supposed to help me?
    Thanks.

  • How can I improve the cell service I get on my iPhone 5 in my new apartment?

I've just moved and I'm getting terrible service at my new apartment. I've been looking into options for improving that, including network extenders, but according to your site, none of them will work with my iPhone 5. What can I do about this?

        ckt873,
Thanks for reaching out to us today. I can understand wanting to make sure you have service inside your home. The network extender is an option that you could have with your iPhone 5. The network extender only works on 3G network. But the iPhone 5 is backwards compatible. So while you are at home you will only be able to connect to 3G services. Not sure if you saw this while doing your reseach, but the network extender would need to be connected to high speed home internet.
With that being said, I would like to review the new area for you. What zip code did you move into? Have you tried to power off your iPhone and remove the sim card? http://vz.to/1c4iBBG Please keep us posted.

  • Satellite L500 - Lost wireless connection

My Satellite L500 recently lost wireless connection. I looked up the Realtek wireless device in Device Manager, and it says the device is working properly. I have tried using "ping 192.168.1.1" to reach the router, and I get "Transmit error - general failure".
    Any ideas?

    Hi buddy,
And now does Windows recognize some WLAN networks in range? Your posting lost wireless connection is not very useful
You should try a WLAN driver update that you can download on official Toshiba page:
    http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/wlan/
If you still cannot find or connect to WLAN networks disable the WLAN power saving mode in Windows power profiles. You have to set it to maximum performance.

  • E60 lost wireless connection to network

my E60 lost wireless connection to network. tried GPS, DUAL, automatic, manual search for network. Same SIM works fine with different phone. Any idea anyone?

    Hi Neil
I'm not familiar with HH (I use a third party router) but it looks as though the HH is set to NOT broadcast the SSID. I'm sure that if you go into the HH settings (the address foe the HH should be 192.168.1.254) you should find somewhere a check box or whatever that allows the router to b'cast the SSID or not. Some would argue that you should not b'cast the SSID but IMHO it makes no difference as the SSID is so easy to discover even if it's not being b'cast.
Just another thought is that you might have to set the wireless connection up as a separate connection to the wired connection. I don't know which OS you are using but if Win 7 then go into 'Network and Sharing centre' and then select 'connect to a network' and take it from there. If not on Win 7 then, if I recall correctly, right click on the networking icon in the system tray and there should be an option to connect to a network.
Hope this helps, if not then I'm sure there are other HH users on this forum who will provide advice.

  • Hi I just lost my brand new laptop in a taxi. Can it be tracked? Thanks.

Hi I just lost my brand new laptop in a taxi. Can it be tracked? Thanks.

"...I just lost my brand new laptop in a taxi..."
left not lost. Happens all the time. I found an iPhone once in a taxi and someone once someone left one in Starbucks. Those returns were easy. I would follow steve369's advice, call the taxi company and hope for the best. Good luck. Next time when in a taxi or limo maintain the bag strap across your body.

On the computer you should be able to go to the network properites. Go to the TCP part and unchec the line that says obtaind DNS automatically and check the one that says use the following. Add the 8.8.8.8 and Google other 8.8.4.4.

  • WRT600N - Lost Wireless Access

I tried a search and found nothing similar.  1st, everything had been working well, then, for some reason, I lost wireless access to the internet.  I can still access my local network wirelessly (printer and a couple of other local items) but no internet.  I can access the internet normally using a wired connection into the router (plus all the local items).  I have check all my sttings and have "booted" everything a handfull of times.
    Any suggestions?
    Jim

As you have mentioned in your post, you are able to go online when you hardwire your computers to the router, but you are not able to go online wirelessly through router. Here are some settings which you can changed on your router, and i believe that this might solve your problem and you will be able to go online wirelessly..
This if for 5GHz Wireless Settings :
Wireless Network mode should be mixed...
-Provide a unique name in the Wireless Network Name (SSID) box in order to differentiate your network from your neighbours network.Set the Radio Band to Wide-40MHz and change the Wide channel to159 and Standard Channel to 161-5.805GHz...
    For Wireless Security : -
Click on the Sub tab under Wireless > Wireless Security...
Change the Wireless security mode to WPA, For Encryption, select AES...For Passphrase input your desired WPA Key. For example , MySecretKey , This will serve as your network key whenever you connect to your wireless network. Do NOT give this key to anyone and remember the key.
NOTE : Passphrase should be more that 8 characters...
This is for 2.4GHz Wireless Settings :
Open an Internet Explorer browser page on your wired computer(desktop). In the address bar type - 192.168.1.1
Leave username blank & in password use admin in lower case...
For Wireless Settings, please do the following : -
    Click on the Wireless tab
-Here select manual configuration...Wireless Network mode should be mixed...
-Provide a unique name in the Wireless Network Name (SSID) box in order to differentiate your network from your neighbours network...
    - Set the Radio Band to Standard-20MHz and change the Standard channel to 11-2.462GHz...Wireless SSID broadcast should be Enabled and then click on Save Settings...
Please make a note of Wireless Network Name (SSID) as this is the Network Identifier...
    For Wireless Security : -
Click on the Sub tab under Wireless > Wireless Security...
Change the Wireless security mode to WEP, Encryption should be 64 bits.Leave the passphrase blank, don't type in anything...Under WEP Key 1 type in any 10 numbers please(numbers only and no letters eg: your 10 digit phone number) and click on save settings...Please make a note of WEP Key 1 as this is the Security Key for the Wireless Network...
    Click on Advanced Wireless Settings
Change the Beacon Interval to 75 >>Change the Fragmentation Threshold to 2304, Change the RTS Threshold to 2304 >>Click on "Save Settings"...
Now see if you can locate your Wireless Network and attempt to connect...
Note : Before you connect to your wireless network, remove all the prefered network list from your computers and after this you can try connecting to your wireless network.

The only way I can use the internet now is through the Ethernet connection out of the Netgear.
