E3000 Router Update now no file sharing

My router just updated to Firmware version: 1.0.04 build 6
Operating system: Windows 7 SP 1
Software version: 1.3.11006.1
Now I can no longer see my network on my Bluray DVD player or other sharing devices. My file sharing worked before this update.
Any suggestions.
Thanks in advance

Is your bluray player connected wirelessly to the router? Did you reset the router after the update? If the answer is "yes" to both questions, then you may need to configure the wireless settings of the router the way it was set before so that the Bluray and other wireless devices would be able to reconnect automatically.
However, if the router router was not reset, then what you can do is a powercycle. Leave the devices unplug for a minute and turn them back on. When turning the devices back on, it should be router first.

  • Software update has broken file sharing

    Hi,
I ran software update for the first time in a few weeks yesterday ... and now my file sharing is broken. I have 2 USB drives shared from my mac mini running Leopard and I access them on my MBP (running Leopard and Win XP). I couldn't connect to either drive after the restart, but everything is the same in System Prefs > Sharing. None of the shortcuts I used previously work, and trying to access the mac mini by IP address yields nothing either (although it is pingable).
Any help on this matter would be greatly received, thank you.

I know this doesn't solve the problem but I'm having the same issue trying to connect to my iMac G5 PPC 10.5 from my Intel MacBook running 10.6. I got frustrated and did a Time Machine restore from about a month ago and it worked like a charm. Once I did my System Updates on the iMac though... No dice. So it's definitely the update- I know for me at least knowing what the problem is helps some. May just be a glitch in the update in which case all you can do is wait...

  • Now that File Sharing is available. Two questions about feature.

Now that File Sharing is available. Two questions abou the new feature.
Question 1 - If you have an individual subscription, can you share your files with someone else who has Creative Cloud subscription such as design agency?
Question 2 - If you have a Team subscription can each member choose which files they sync so they don't sync everything all the time but still have access to the entire team files?

    No to both, unfortunately.

  • Firmware Upgrade now no file sharing

I recently installed a firmware upgrade on my E3000 to firmware version 1.0.04.build 6.  Since the upgrade I am unable to see any of my files on my network computer which is running windows 7.  Before everything was fine and I could stream to my dvd players and dish receivers.  I've tried everything I can think of to fix this problem.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Mr. Bernard,
    Thank you for your question.
However, the Small Business Support Community is limited to Cisco Small Business Products and the E3000 is not a Cisco Small Business Product.
Your question below relates to a Cisco Consumer Product which our community would not be able to help you with.

  • Personal File Sharing Keeps Turning Off.

I have a second notebook, a Powerbook G4 Titanium 667 which is still amazingly useful for all but the most demanding apps and I regularly leave an external hard disk connected to this which I access by attaching to the G4 from my Macbook, via Finder, in the Server section. I authenticate and then choose the external disk volume and it mounts no problem.
My issue is that since a recent batch of software updates (perhaps a week ago), I no longer see the G4 in the Servers list. I returned to the G4 and found that Personal File Sharing was not longer enabled. I re-enabled it and locked the preferences again. I then see the G4 from my Macbook, connect as before and the volume mounts for a few seconds before being disconnected. I am then unable to reconnect. When I visit the G4 again, I find that the preferences are still locked but now Personal File Sharing is DISABLED.
I've not found any way around this, but console indicates that AppleFileServer failed. The crash report log does show the error. Here's the head of the file's last entry:
    Host Name: powerbook-g4
    Date/Time: 2008-04-13 08:52:48.696 +0200
    OS Version: 10.4.11 (Build 8S165)
    Report Version: 4
    Command: AppleFileServer
    Path: /usr/sbin/AppleFileServer
    Parent: launchd [1]
    Version: ??? (???)
    PID: 6379
    Thread: 4
    Exception: EXCBADACCESS (0x0001)
    Codes: KERNINVALIDADDRESS (0x0001) at 0x00705000
I've found references to other apps causing this but no mention of this with a G4 / 10.4.11. Any advice appreciated.

    Welcome to the forums!
Reading the title I was certain I knew the answer, but I've never thought to have anyone check or report the Log on this, soooo, maybe I don't know and this might be something different.
But usually this is fixed by dragging one or more of these files to the Desktop, Rebooting, setting up again... it may just be one, or many at a time needed...
    /Library/Preferences/com.apple.sharing.firewall.plist
    /Users/nnnnLibrary/Preferences/com.apple.internetconnect.plist
    /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/preferences.plist
    /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.airport.preferences.plist
Then, if it's certain other kinds of connections, there may also be files like this...
    /Users/nnnn/Library/Preferences/ByHost/com.apple.networkConnect.<ethernet MAC address>.plist

  • Can not activate Personal File Sharing

I can't seem to get Personal File Share to be active on one of the computers on the network at home. It is my wife computer, G5 running 10.4.8. we just updated to the version and now the file sharing is grayed out. I am running a G4 with 10.4.8 and we are both on an ethernet network. We both have different IP numbers and I can mount my computer on her computer (I have no problem turning on File Sharing) but I can't get her file sharing on. Any suggestions

I have "Show Hidden Files' enabled on all my machines, so not certain it will be the same on yours, but...
Bring up the Root level of the Boot HD in Finder, locate "automount" folder and open it.
    Start the Terminal window, type...
cd and a space, drag the "automount' folder to the Terminal window, press Enter, this should change it to look something like...
    bd8:/Volumes/Machintosh HD/automount bd8$
then you can type in rm space and drag the 2 files one at a time, (Servers & Static), over to terminal. Hitting enter will trash whatever is after the rm, so be careful.
(I'm using the Finder to drag because it reduces typing errors, but you could type it all in).
cd back to root and rm the Network at root level.
    Reboot.

  • File sharing problems and horror story (nearly)

I use Leopard on a MacBook Pro, a MacBook and a iMac G4 800 MHz (unsupported model).
I have on the iMac and the MacBook Pro many users (the same ont he two machines) and I always use Fast User Switching.
I have had very few problems with Leopard until now; I like it even if there are some glitches or some new features which are not my cup of tea (hierarchical menus missing from the dock, stacks useless when there are many items, FireWall impossibilities (?) to open specific ports, Back to my Mac working on a Lan but not from outside until now, problems with a few apps (Parallels networking erratic), ...
    Now about File Sharing.
Let say my main account is user1 (Administrator), and I have another user2 also administrator, plus user3, user4 standard users.
On the iMac I activate File Sharing.
On the MacBookPro, as user1, if I connect to the iMac Server (using afp://IPaddress_of_theiMac/) I do NOT get the dialog
"Enter your user name and password to access file server YYY
Connect to server as Guest or as Registered User"
but I directly get the dialog
"Select the volumes you want to mount on YYY"
From this, if I select user1 it mounts with full read/write permissions which is normal. It appears that I am connected with my Apple account user1&mac.com (same as mentionned in the Account panel of System Preferences).
On the other hand, if I try to connect to the user2 account, I only get limited access although in the File Sharing Preferences, user1/iMac is mentionned with full Read/Write preferences for the Home Folder of user2.
What is very surprising is that if I log on the MacBook Pro as user2, or user 3 or user4, then connect to the iMac, I first get the dialog to enter a user name and a password. This gives me access with the correct full permissions on user1/iMac or user2/iMac using the corresponding user name/password pair; this is the usual behaviour which is missing when trying to connect from user1/MacBook Pro.
    Now for the Horror Story!
Trying to understand what was going on with the permissions of the user2/iMac account, I logged in to the iMac as user1, went to the Users folder and from there had a look on the informations about user2 home folder. In the lower part of the pannel, Sharing & Permissions says "You have no access" (which is normal) and this is followed by a table where users and permissions are listed. It seems user1 has Read and Write access in contradiction with the preceding phrase...
Anyway, I tried to modify these authorizations for user2 by clicking on the lock of the Information pannel and entering name and password of the administrator. Didn't go farther than that. By mistake, I hit Command-Delete and user2 was GONE from the list AND NOT ONLY from the list in the Information window! Using Fast User Switching and going to user2, nothing left on the Desktop and NO Home anymore.
In the System Preferences/Accounts panel, user2 was still mentionned.
In the Users folder, no user2 folder anymore.
Using once again Fast User Switching, I logged as user2 and got by magic an all new Home. Nothing left in Documents, Library or other user1 folders. Standard settings for icons, dock, etc.
My first move has been to use a very recent backup to restore everything (Thank you Mike Bombich from Copy Cloner!).
Once everything was back to normal, I had a look at the Trash from user1 and guess what, the Home folder of user2 was there, complete.
So now I am left with two questions
why is it I do not have the same dialogs when connecting from all the accounts although as far as I can see, configurations are the same?
why is it possible, from an Information pannel to delete the account of another user?
    Thank you all for comments!

  • Server Admin Problem - File Sharing fails to load

We recently switched over from a 10.4 server to an Intel Quad Core Xserve running 10.5.8. Things seemed to be working for about a week but now The File Sharing part of Server Admin fails to load. After spinning for a few minutes I get a kNetworkError on the File Sharing Service.
I'm not totally through setting up all the share points so this is causing quite a problem. Otherwise the Sharepoints that are set up are working properly. The first time this happened a server restart cleared the problem. This time nothing seems to help.
Anyone have a cure for this?

The problem seems to be getting worse. Once the error occurs some of the other services are not available through SA either. Anybody have any suggestions, or is it a reformat and reinstall situation?

  • After updating to Yosemite   Server, one client now has Access Denied error on file sharing.

Just updated the law office from a Mavericks site to a Yosemite site. Everything is working fine except that one client now cannot connect to the file shares - Permission Denied, Contact your system administer error. I've looked through the permissions and even completed a Repair Permissions. What else can I do to get this client on-line with file sharing?

Is the client connecting with the same credentials as the others? I tend to doubt it.

  • File Sharing was working but now isn't

    Hey folks -
Some time ago I had quite a sruggle getting my MacBook Pro visible to my home network. I found this threa - http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=6198136 - and blew out the files and reset things and poof - there it was. For the rest of that day, and a few other times later in the week, I had no problem accessing the Mac from other computers and seending files happily back and forth.
Since then (February 08), I know that there have been a number of updates that I have allowed on the system. I have also just installed VMware Fusion to run and use Win XP while in the OS X environment.
I just discovered that while my other computers can see my MacBook - they can only see the printers share - and even there I don't see the actual printers, just the folder (but both printers are checked for sharing).
I have tried blowing things away again as in the link above and restarting, but no dice. I have unshared and reshared - but still no dice.
Under the Sharing / File Sharing / Advanced option I have made sure that the box for "Share files and folders using SMB" is checked. The default box for "Share files and folders using AFP" I have tried both checked and unchecked - this is the only Mac on the system - All other computers are Win XP systems, save for the server which is a CentOS 5 system. I can see the other computers in my network from the MacBook and I can connect to the shared folders on them - so I know I have local network access, but not the other way round.
I also have no idea how or why the Printer Share folder is showing up, but contains no actual printers. In VMware Fusion when I bring up XP Pro and try to install my networked HP 2300D by visiting it's URL, the ever so helpful IE tells me that it won't install the Active X component - so I thought I would just use the Printer share - and that's how I discoverd that the folder is there, but nothing is in it. Sure enough, the other systems in my network can see the MacBook, and they get a folder for the Printers - but nothing is in there.
Back in February this was working (file share and printer share) - no idea what changed or when it changed, but it is frustrating.
I have read through a number of other postings but none seem directly on point to this issue, so I have not found any solutions that have worked.
Hoping that someone can offer a suggestion that will work.

the same thing is with me too. me and my brother both have 2GB nanos, i got mine just after christmas. It kept doing this weird symboling thing, i couldn't figure out what was wrong with it. so, i took it back - to best buy. they gave me a new one. now i have this second one and it has been working fine until one day i asked my mom to plug it in and charge it for me. it still had about 1 red bar left. about 2 or 3 hours later, i went to unplugged it [safely unplugged it] and it had all my BROHTERS music updated on it [i always uncheck his songs first so they dont go on it, they WERE unchecked on itunes! i dont know how they got on!!!] so then i look, and it didnt even charge at all. it still had the same amount of energy. my brother rarely updates his ipod, just charges it. but, he did update it earlier that day, and since then...i cant CHARGE my ipod, i cant update it, nothing works. now i just tried plugging it in to charge, and it was on hold, so i slid the button so that it wouldnt be. There is still a little lock on the top left corner, like it shows when its locked. EVEN THOUGH IT IS NOT LOCKED! it wont let me do anything. ive been trying to figure it out for HOURS, ive followed the 5 steps and NOTHING SEEMS TO WORK i need help so badly.

  • File sharing imac/ibook on belkin router

Hello, I have a imac, with 10.3.9 software, also a ibook with 10.4.5 software.
The imac is connected through the internal network card to a Belkin F5D7230-4 wireless router. The ibook is connected to the router with the internal airport extreme wireless network card. Both units can access the internet on the cable modem connected to the router. When I try to access the other the computer for file sharing it requires a password that I do not know. I have set both units up for file sharing on the Systems Perference
page. The login asked for a username and password, but gives me a error
when I try to get access. I want to transfer file between the two computers.
    Any help???
    Steve

If I do try the password used for setting the preferences or
    loading software updates...
That is the password that you need. Remember if you are sitting at the iMac trying to access the iBook you will need to enter the password that you use on the iBook not the one that you use on the iMac.
