E3000 using Wag54gv2 as modem/voip

Hi All
I'm moving from my all-in-one gateway to an E3000.
Can I use my gateway as a modem and voip service only, and connect the E3000 to the gateway? I'd then use the E3000 as my main wireless router and switch?
My primary objective is to achieve a wider broadcast of the wireless signal, and operate up to 10 guest accounts (I'm setting up limited internet use for a small hostel).
Otherwise I will need to have:
modem (AM300) ---> E3000 ---> ATA (SPA2102) (and donate my wag54g to a needy soul)
Any other/better suggestions?

You can cascade E3000 with your WAG54G2..For that you have to connect the Ethernet cable from WAG to E3000 on Ethernet port..You also have to change the ip address of E3000 in the range of WAG.For example if the ip address of WAG is 192.168.1.1 then,change the ip address of E3000 to 192.168.1.2.Also disable the DHCP on E3000.

E3000 and Westell DSL Modem for AT&T

I am setting up new DSL service through AT&T using a Westell modem and a Cisco E3000 router. Does anyone have any suggestions on the best way to configure these two together? I am not sure what services should best be handled by the router or handled by the modem.

As the E3000 can do PPPoE the best way to set it up would be to use the Westall only as modem and the E3000 for PPPoE and everything internet related. For this, you have to configure the Westell into "bridge" mode. You didn't write the exact model of your modem. In a manual for a 6100 it should be configurable on "VC Configuration" where you can change the protocol from PPPoE to "Bridge" and "Bridge" mode (not Routed Bridge or other). In bridge mode it works like a normal modem would do. You can then connect the internet port of the E3000 to the modem and configure the E3000 for PPPoE. It should then be able to connect directly to the internet. Please check the manual for the Westell for more information. It should be the same for the Siemens.

New to FiOS, can I use my own modem and router

I saw several questions similar to mine, but none that I saw answered my question for my scenario. I am sorry if this is a duplicate. I am new to FiOS. I have no other services from Verizon and do not plan to get any. No phone, no television, nothing. Just Internet. God willing, the installation will take place in two days. My house already has coaxial cabling. I have my own cable modem, a SURFboard SB6121, which goes to my router, a TP Link TL-WR941ND. None of my equipment advertises that it is FiOS compatible. I've seen other people asking about using their own modem and router, but in those cases the scenario involved other bundled services, and I understand a FiOS router is necessary to forward ports to television, phone, and computers. However, in my very simple scenario, can the Verizon optical network terminal simply feed its output to my coax, from there to my modem, then router, then comptuers? Is there any reason that wouldn't work? Verizon technical support just gave me a machine that wanted to help me troubleshoot my Internet connection, and I couldn't get from there to a human. Thanks in advance for the help!

Banish the word and the device called "modem" from your home when using FiOS. FiOS does not use modems. Your cable modem is useless with FiOS. Do not plug it in. FiOS uses routers. The router connects to the ONT's WAN port using MoCA (coax) or Ethernet. The installer will enable one of the ONT's WAN ports. If you order 150Mbps or higher speeds, they will have to use Ethernet. For slower speeds, coax is the default. Many installers will use Ethernet if you ask nicely, but usually only if it isn't too much work. Make sure it's easy to connect a router to the ONT using Ethernet, and you should be okay. If Ethernet needs to be run through the walls, your best choice is get it done ahead of time. You can always call later and get the ONT's WAN port switched. The only routers available with a MoCA WAN port are the Verizon models. The Verizon routers are good devices for most users. People who like to tweak their networking gear don't like them as many advanced features are limited or locked down. You can't run any other router firmware on them. WiFi range is decent, but not great. I'm quite happy with my Quantum router. YMMV. If you get Ethernet WAN enabled, you can use any router you want. However, know that Verizon provides zero support for any other router. They won't even mention it as an option. That doesn't mean you can't use one, simply that you must do so without Verizon's help. There are reports that they won't even complete an install without one of their routers to verify service. If you don't use one of their routers, consider renting one for a month to complete the install or even buying a used one. If you own a Verizon router, you can install it if you ever suspect Verizon networking issues. This will allow you to call their support. Which version of the Desktop Manager are you running? If you're running 5.0.1 can you try to use the IP Modem option to setup the modem?

I have trouble getting my new Apple TV 2 to work to the internet. I have an Imac with OsX 10.6.8 using a 3G modem to connect to the internet. I have a Time Capsule with Airport. I can't get the Apple TV to see my internet connection

3G modem connected to iMac for internet access.
I have tied to get Apple TV2 to see the inernet but it does not seem to see the inernet connection either via the Airport network or even if I connect it directly with a ethernet cable to the Timecapsule or the iMac.
I have tired to set up Home Sharing but it doen't see the Itunes Store so no go.
I don't have wired internet but it is probably something to do with using a 3G modem
Any tips on how I can check if the TV coonect to internet and what to do about this problem?
I was trying to connect my HD TV earlier using a WiFi USB modem but it could not see my iMac. Apple Support told me to buy an Apple TV but that is not helping as I can't see anything there either.

I have reset the printing system, a few times for good measure but nadda.
I have also looked at getting the software from the Apple site after seeing that with Snow Leopard you should let the operating system lead the install not the manufacteurers software as it is most likely out of date. I too found it wasn't there so I uninstalled the software got up the CLX_3300 series stuff then went from there with the USB cable. It apparently hasn't worked either
Unfortunately now after using the print utility to scan for a while that has now gone again on the last restart of the Mac. I am so completely clueless
The box says the printer is compatible, the place of purchase said it was compatible, the Samsung site says it is compatible.
I think it's the set up of my Mac? Our maybe a glitch in the network settings?

Windows 7 home premium and 8330 using as a modem

I just bought a new laptop and trying to get my 8330 working as a modem. has no problem with windows XP. I have loaded the desk top manager software 5.0.0 and sprint mart view for windows. When smartview is open it recognizes my phone but when I try to connect I get error message 678. I have followed information from a post at crackberry which instructed to set a new dial up connectionn with the number #777. That did not solve my problem. Again, everything was effortless on one laptop with XP. I think it's a windows 7 issue. Any help?

My guess is you are set up on your company's BlackBerry Enterprise Server. If this is the case, then there is likely a policy in place that does not allow your device to be used as a modem. Contact whoever manages your company's BES

Problem on loading DAT file when using 3G network modem

I'm having some strange problem when I'm trying to load my game on the part where DAT file with Map Object is read, using 3G Network Modem. This issue started when I migrated my applet from one host to another. Everything loads well, until the user authentication. On user authenticatiom I'm recieving map name which I should load and show the user on it. I'm recieving the message where map name is mentioned, but after, when the process of loading map begins(when I need to read DAT file which is only 15KB) application blocks(browser and JVM also block).
I thought it could be because of slow network communication, but it's not the reason, since I have tested(using Bandwidth limiter software) with 5 KBs/Second and it loads well and application is running well.
Any clue why this can happen? If code is needed I'll post some pieces related to the process of map creation.

You have to upload it with FileReference.upload() to a PHP
(or other server-side) script which saves it to a folder on the

Hi NO one at BT has been able to help me with this,
OK explanation:
For my work I still use the old modems to dial into remote machines (this caused problems explaning this to BT they kept on talking about my BB hub!). Using an internal modem in my laptop to dial out using the voice part of the BT line.
You can here the tones of the numbers being dialled, it then handshakes with the modem on the remote machine then the signal just hangs.
I have had my phone line for over 8 months. I have been able to use modem remote connect the whole time until last week.
I completed a line check, came up clear. I then called BT. Line check clear. They said the only option is to have an Engineer sent out. Then I got told that it could cost me... etc.
So booked an engineer then hung up. Got a call 30 mins later... ( during the 30 mins from hanging up I started to fault diagnose the lines in my house) then got told they had done another line check and it now shows a fault! Will it would I was using the line and fault finding on it!! They didn't tell me that they would do another line check.
Anyway engineer came following day... guess what no lne issues in my house or outside. After 15 calls and 6 hours later I was getting no where on the phone.
How can I get this looked into!?!?!? It seems the bandwidth on the voice part of the line can't take modem data anymore!
I have tested my laptop, it works on my lines in 2 different offices it also works at a friends house and they are on BT.Line quality sounds fine on voice calls and BB never drops out.
1. Why has this stopped?
2. Why can't BT have a higher level of tech support?
3. Why just cold transfer me to other departments?
4. Why send out an engineer when there was no need for one?
5. Why does the Tech guy I reported this to tell a blatant lie on the system on my records. "noise on phone line" I never said this!!!
6. Who can I complain too? NO ONE!
7. How can I get this resolved? NO ONE KNOWS
All I want is the capability to dial out using pulse dialling via modem again! FROM MY OWN PROPERTY.

Welcome to this forum. This is a BT domestic customer to customer help forum, any messages posted here do not go to BT.
Can you try the modem plugged directly into the master socket without any ADSL filters. You will lose your broadband connection during the test, but it will eliminate any problem with the BT Home hub, or the microfilter.
ADSL does not start until 30kHz, which is well above the range that an analogue modem works at.

MacBook Pro and connecting a Blackberry 8830 to use as a modem

I have a MacBook Pro(10.4.11) and I want to connect my BlackBerry to be used as a modem (bluetooth) I have Sprint PCS as my provider and a BlackBerry 8330. I have the proper plan, the computer and the BlackBerry recognize each other it just won't make a final connection. I have used pocketmac to sync my contacts etc.. Is there any 3rd party software that will allow be to use my BlackBerry as a modem?

Can't use my USB modem "HUAWEI model E156G" on my MACBook Pro

I'm new to MAC (I used to be a windows user) and I'm a little bit frustrated for not being able to use my USB modem "Huawie E156G" for connecting my new MacBook Pro!
I followed these steps:
Got the USB modem drivers found on Huawei site that should support my USB modem model. there were 2 drivers, one for "Intel" and another one for "PowerPC" platforms
First, I installed the "Intel" version succesfully. According to the steps, I tried to run the installed driver, but I got the following message:
"you cant open the app HuaweiDataCardApp because PowerPC app are no longer supported".
I repeated the installation procedure using the "PowerPC" version that finished succesfully (without removing the previous installed driver because dont know how to do that). I got the same message when running the driver application:
"you cant open the app HuaweiDataCardApp because PowerPC app are no longer supported".
It would be much appreciated if anyone can help me

You need to begin by configuring the AEX to Join an existing network (Bridge Mode.) You can then connect to it using Wi-Fi, but the AEX will not extend your existing network.
If you can connect the AEX to your existing router using Ethernet, then you could use it to Create a new network. Otherwise, if you want to extend your existing network you will need to get a Wireless Access Point - WAP - from a non-Apple product like D-Link.
