E3200 Wireless Speed

I bought this E3200 about a month ago and has been working fine since. I mostly use 2.4Ghz channel. Both channels are open. Most of my devices are connect by wireless to the router using 2.4Ghz.
I am not getting full bandwidth with wireless through the router. I have turn the 2.4Ghz to only 20mhz under Channel Width channel and have gone through every channel and currently have it set to Channel 2.
When I run Speedtest, the most I get is15.5M down. When I connect another router to the internet and use the same device, same channel, same Speedtest location I am getting 23.5M down.
How can I increase the wireless speed on this router?

In order to take full advantage of the speed and range that wireless 802.11N has to offer, both router and adapter must be wireless 802.11N capable. So, check the wireless computers that you have are N-capable adapters.
Did you try making any changes on the router except playing around with the channel to fix the issue? If not, please try this. Launch Cisco Connect. Click on router settings and then click on 'advanced settings' and click ok.
This will open the router's web interface. Click on the wireless tab at the top. Then click on manual. After this, Lower the MTU (Maximum Transmission Unit) from 1500 to 1400 or less (usually found on your routers main/ basic setup page).  Then click on Security tab disable SPI Firewall Protection, uncheck Filter Anonymous Internet Requests...

    Hello, I never had a router before.
    I just bought Linksys E3200, because I need a wireless connection to my HTPC.
    I have only set a password to my network. Didn't touch or changed any of the factory settings.
    My main PC is connected to a router using a network cable,
    my HTPC is connected wiresly using Linksys EA2500 wireless adapter. I got wireless connection.
    However, my internet speed on my main PC (wired) is FULL and about 50 Mbps.
    Wireless speed on my HTPC is max 10 Mbps.
    My modem, router, main PC and HTPC are in the same room one beside the other.
    What is the problem? What are the setting that you recommend to change?

    Make sure that both the networks in the router (5GHz and 2.4GHz) have unique names from each other. This way you will know from which network the HTPC is connected to. After making sure that both networks have unique names, change the channel for the 2.4GHz network. You may try 1, 3, 6, or 9.

  • Problem with the wireless speed on windows with bootcamp

    I've got a problem with the following:
    the wireless card of my mac pro is very slow when i run windows on my mac pro with bootcamp
    When i just run OSX everything works fine, but in windows, when I connect to the wireless my wireless speed
    drops to 11-18mbs.
    First I thought that it was a drivers issue, but after the update of bootcamp drivers 1.4 the problem still exist.
    First I had a Topcom wireless router now I've bought a Apple Airport Extreme, but the problem isn't solved yet...
    The router isn't 2 meters away from my mac.
    And the wireless speed is fine when i connect with my dads windows laptop...
    Does anyone has a solution? using a cable isnt a solution for me because in September I will move with my mac pro one floor down.

    You might want to ask this in the Boot Camp forums. As your wireless work fine under Mac OS X it sounds to be a software issue as opposed to a hardware one which means as Windows users they'll better be able to help.

  • Log In Error and Poor Wireless Speed

    Hello Forum Members,
    I just picked up a EA6500 wireless router today and I am a bit disappointed. I paid $199 for this router because I was hoping to take advantage of of fast N speeds and the advanced features it offers.
    When I first logged in to set up the router, I saw an amber exclamation point with a note that read "Updating Linksys Smart Wi-Fi Service". When I put my password in I was met with a "Unexpected Error" message.
    Any idea what that means?
    Any idea how to fix it?
    Also, the firmware updater doesn't work.
    Minor issues but I would hope these could be resolved. Now on to the more bothersome issue. Wireless speed is poor. I replaced a WRT160NL router with this one. On my old router using WPA2-Personal (AES) I would see speeds of ~300 Mbps. On my EA6500, I see 120 Mbps. I have checked and double checked all wireless and security settings and don't see anything that looks wrong.
    Anyone else see this? Any ideas how to resolve?

    I don't think you would call what I'm doing LAN to LAN. I'm not creating a separate wireless network but rather a wireless access point.
    The only changes I made from the stock configuration is to set the EA6500 ip address to 192.168.1.252, renamed both the 2.4 and 5.0 GHz wireless bands and apply WPA2 security. Lastly, I disabled DHCP on the EA6500.
    Not sure why this would work on a WRT160NL and not on the EA6500.

    Hey i recently put up a thread to my mistake i thought i was getting a **bleep** service but buoy was i wrong. Im getting a superb service from bt infinity 2. But heres my problem i get this through a wired connection:

    heres my theroy how can i maximise wireless speed similar to the speeds of a wired connection. just to add i have refreshed my smart wireless thing lol at hub settings webpage. also it is my first day with bt its just been instaled now for about 11 hours now, and will it get faster but i am doubting that cause of the results above on the wired so it must be down to my wireless card or config of the home hub 4.

    Now you are asking how long a piece of string is.
    There are so many variables that can disrupt a wireless connection it is no wonder ISP's will not ( and cannot) support it.
    Wired is always the best option but it's understandable that it may not be convenient for some devices (the manufacturers of which promise so much in terms of wireless connection).
    First make sure your wireless card drivers are up to date, don't trust Windows update to have the latest ones, go to the card makers website for the latest.
    If a Windows system download and run InSSider to find the best channel for your area.
    After that there HERE is a link for the best advice out there. It is an invaluable source of tips, tricks etc and would recommend it to anyone not used to the vagaries of wireless networking or connections. Best of all it won't cost you a penny or endless hours on hold to support who at the end cannot help you.

  • SRP527W wireless speeds--repeat submission from Dec.

    Bought the 527W in December, haven't been able to get a connection faster than 54Mbps even once.  Andy Hickman saw to it I had access to the 1.01.19 Firmware release which appears to have solved the random 'no connection to my WAN' issue which so many others had also noted (thanks, Andy!), but absolutely no help with wireless speeds.
    Scenario details available (I'll spare you the detail repeats), but suffice it so say that, even with a new 300Mbps-rated device in the same room as the router, less than 6 ft away with line-of-sight between the 2 devices, best speed is 54Mbps.  Standard channel, wide channel, pick your frequency or advanced settings, I've been through the range.  And gotten nowhere.  If there's a trick to getting this thing working as the documents lay out, I haven't found it.
    If others haven't had difficulties running in Multimode with 802.11b/g/n devices and it all works, then I'd guess I'm looking at a replacement.  And since I originally identified the problem shortly after starting it up in the first place, it'd be a Cisco warranty job, no?
    Any inputs/guidance/prayers gratefully accepted.

    I have 3 PCs in the house:  2 tower units and 1 laptop.  The 'main' PC (mine) uses ethernet cabling to the router, and the 2nd PC and laptop both use wireless.  There are other devices as well, all cabled, but there are no issues with them.  The laptop's internal wireless adapter is limited to 54Mbps by design, where the 2nd PC's internal PCI wireless NIC is 'N' capable (Netgear model WG311T).  I know that it is functional at that speed and in it's present location because I was using it to connect to my previous router, a Netgear model, for over 3 years.  There were issues with DHCP and 'whois?' reporting with that router, so I replaced it.  I bought the Cisco because I wanted something a bit more advanced, to allow for service expansion to my home network in the future, as I progressed in my Cisco certification.  I hold CCENT now, I'm well progressed in my ICND2 studies, and I am the sole network admin in a classified UK miltary program (aspects of CCNP or above in the design I inherited.)  The Cisco router sits in the same location as the previous Netgear device did.
    Since I have 1 device which cannot connect at 'N' speeds, I have to run in Mixed Mode.  But for troubleshooting I ignored that, and have attempted to force the 2nd PC to connect at 'N' speeds by limiting to only that connection type, but no joy.  I have made adjustments to thresholds, frequencies, etc., under the Advanced Settings for the wireless, and all with the same effect:  if I try to force 'N' settings to other than defaults, in Mixed Mode or 'N' only, nothing connects at all.
    The PCI card was in an XP machine when I bought the Cisco router, but is now in a Win7 machine (replaced the PC for his 16th birthday.)  New OS, new drivers, same problem.  So, assuming there's some compatibility issue between the NIC and the router, I bought a new 300Mbps-capable USB wireless adapter.  For testing, I tried it with the laptop.  Sitting in the same room as the router with no obstacles but air between them, this new adapter can't connect any faster than 54Mbps either (but it sees other networks in my neighborhood than I knew were there to begin with, I must say!!)
    So: 2 different adapters, 2 different OS versions, 3 different PCs in multiple locations around the house, and 1 constant--the router.  Any advice?  I'm going to reset the router to factory default today to see if that does any good, but I'm not confident.

    Hi every one 
    I have some problem in basic understanding of the wireless speed. can any one help me with this please? 
    When we are considering for example AC connection with 2x2 antenna (provided no noise and close to the AP) we expect around 20MBps speed. now the question is this speed only for 1 client? if there is another client in the room connected to the same AP would this speed dropped or share? how about a class of 30 students then? 
    and is there any thing we can do about client hugging the AP!? I mean when multiple clients copying file at the same time then one client is ok and the others are struggling! as soon as the first client finished then it would be replaced by another client with good speed and the rest having a battle over the AP!!!
    the AP speed are 1G connection / 3700 series

    Just because a classroom has 2 APs does NOT guarantee the wireless clients, located inside the same classroom, will join to either one of the APs.   It has been well known and documented that a wireless client can join to an AP with the worst signal.

    No on the Cisco side of things.  You have to ensure the wireless NIC cards' driver of the the wireless clients are up-to-date.  
    Wireless is a shared medium (aka half duplex).  This means that when one talks (including the AP) all the rest has to "back off" and wait for their turn.  So, in theory, you can't have two wireless clients talking, at the same time, to another wireless client.   
    It's like going to a restaurant.  If you go to a large restaurant during off peak, the food is prepared more quickly.  However, if you go to the same restaurant during peak hours, your food is prepared much longer.

  • WRT600N slow wireless speeds

    I have a WRT600N router.  I have one PC that is connected to the router via a wired connection.  I also have an iPad (3rd generation) that is connected to the router via a wireless connection. On my PC, I went to speedtest.net and determined that I am receiving like 20MB downloads via the wired connection.  However, my iPad only gets approximately less than 2 MB download speeds.  I have tried reseting the router and I do have what I believe to be the latest firmware update (Firmware Version: 1.01.36 build 4).     I also receive the slow download speeds when I try connecting the other wireless devices.  I assume my problem has to do with some sort of configuration setting found in the router configuration page (http://192.168.1.1/).  Can anyone please advise me what to do?  The router is only a few feet away from my iPad so the signal strength is strong.  I just don't understand why I'm receiving such slow wireless download speeds.

    This may be due to the IPv6 feature on your computer. One of the solutions may be disabling IPv6.   • EA6200 in Bridge Mode Slow Wireless Speeds

    Hello All,
    I just purchased a Linsys EA6200 AC router (refurb) to extend my existing wireless network. I have setup the 6200 as an access point using the Bridge Mode outlined in the Users Guide (automatic configuration). While I am able to connect to the Internet from the router wirelessly, my Internet speeds while connected are roughly a third of my max MBPS, I have a 55 MBPS connection and consistently get speeds around 14-20 MBPS with this router from a 10-12 foot wireless distance. I get full speed while wired in, however, as soon as I go back to WiFI I get a significant performance drop.
    Is there something that can be done to correct this? I am running the latest firmware and have set the 2.4G channel to 20mhz and the 5G channel to 40mhz while specifying a channel number with no increase in performance or speed. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

    What Mfr and model is the main host router?
    Try single mode G or N or mixed G and N on 2.4Ghz and single mode N or Mixed on 5Ghz on the main host router?
    Channel Width set for Auto 20/40Mhz. 20Mhz can slow the wireless speeds down.
    Try setting a manual Channel to a open or unused channel. 1, 6 or 11. 11 for single mode N if the channel is clear. 13 for EU regions. Try channel 48 or 149 on 5Ghz.

    WMM Support must be enabled for single wireless N mode to function.

  • Slow wireless speed with new iMac Intel- problem with 802.11g?

    There IS a problem with the new Intel Mac, I have tried both the Intel iMac and the new Intel Mac mini and they both have the same problem with slow wireless speed (or rather it variates, if I do a ping to another computer on the network the speed goes from < 1 ms up to 1000 ms and then down to < 1 ms and so on). The older mac minis, my Linux boxes and my Windows PCs don´t have that problem. I have also read reports on the net and it appears that most users experiencing this problem have wireless card firmware version 101.3 (3.120.28.3) . A possible "fix" is to change to 802.11b on the router and then it works. No speed fluctuations and a stabile network! I know it is a bad solution, I would prefer to use 802.11g and get the speed. However I think this points to a problem with the drivers regarding 802.11g. I am starting up a new thread on this and those of you with problems, please try to switch to 802.11b and if it works let us make Apple aware of this.

  • Cisco AIR 1142N wireless speed.

    Hello all.
    Just got Cisco AIR 1142N, configured it with two ssids on 2.4 Mhz interface. 5.0 is shutdown. As I know (probably I am wrong) wireless speed with "n" mode devices must be at least 150 Mbps, but I get only half of that- 72 Mbps. Where could be a problem?
    Tested it with notebooks with Broadcom 4313 adapter.
    I have read some people face problem with 54 Mbps speed, but they just have wrong authentication.
    Be glad for any advice!

    My wi-fi adapter in notebooks is Broadcom 4313b/g/n and this is what I find about it..

  • Wireless speed faster than direct hookup E4200

    Have high speed cable and find that the wireless speeds using Speedtest.net are faster than when hooking directly into the E4200.  Do I have something set incorrectly?

    Have you tried checking the cables or the specs of your LAN card? 
    You see, the e4200 router is a gigabit router.  This means, your LAN card must also be a gigabit adapter to have a better wired connection.

    Wireless speed is not measured in Ghz. It is measured in bps. 802.11n is typically between 100 and 200 Mbps depending on local interference. That said, any other device sharing the wireless network at the same protocol will slow it down often by a proportionate amount if it is constantly sharing the network. Any device using it on a slower protocol, will slow down the wireless network to the slower protocol. Draft 802.11n often is only 54 Mbps, and so is the 2.4 Ghz in many instances when it is non-Apple. 802.11g for instance is 33 Mbps. 802.11b is about 12 Mbps. If your wireless router is set for using both 802.11n and a slower protocol, it generally will only slow down when a slower device is connected. Note these speeds are only good for devices sharing the same router. Apple's routers also have 100Mps and Gigabit ethernet, which would decrease the shared network speed with ethernet devices accordingly. You will still see the slower speed of your internet connection still be the maximum speed for data transfer over the internet.

  • Significantly slow wireless speeds

    I just got a used MB133LL/A in very good condition. But as i got it the wireless speeds were really bad, i downloaded all the updates (slowly) and still the same problem, I also tried installing Windows XP and still the same problem. I get a max of 100kb/s (even when transfering from a shared networked computer) and i can't even do simple things like stream a youtube video at a decent rate.
    It's not my router since I have other devices wirelessly connected that work fine, and its not my internet because I can connect my macbook pro with an ethernet cord and get normal speeds. It seems like a hardware issue because it does the exact same thing before and after updates and with mac os and windows. Is this a known issue and is there some firmware i'm missing or something?

    he said use code:
    sudo sysctl -w net.inet.tcp.delayed_ack=0
    Then put this in to /etc/sysctl.conf
    net.inet.tcp.delayed_ack=0
    I don't know what he meant by /etc/sysctl.conf but putting the sudo code into my terminal worked wonders. Apparently it disables some algorithm called Nagle's algorithm.

  • T410 slow wireless speeds

    We recently acquired two refurbished T410's - both of these laptops have extremely slow wireless speeds (slow or no page loads) and it seems that they periodically disconnect from the wireless connection for short periods of time.
    I have these laptops connected to the same wireless connection as many other computers in our office - all of the other computers operate normally - only experiencing this issue with the two T410's.
    I see that others have had a similar problem, but have not been able to locate a solution. Any help the community can provide would be appreciated.
