E3200 - Won't connect to Vista with Atheros adapters

Initially a very easy set up. That is until I tried to connect my older computers. After multiple attempts on both older Vista computers, it was always connecting to router but never to internet. Finally I tried tech support but only could do on line support. Very difficult typing the problem. Long and short, Linksys has a connectivity problem with Vista and Atheros network adapters. I was typed there was a driver problem but since the new computers connected there was nothing to do. Their answer was call the manufacturer. No suggestions on what to ask for, where to go or what I need. After a couple hours on the Toshiba website, no driver updates were ever found and still no internet on the the older computers. It appears to be a great router if you have all new computers but Linksys isn't really very helpful for the older computers. So DO NOT get this if you have older computers your trying to connect. VERY dissapointed in the abject lack of assistance and NO LIVE people to talk with about the issues they are aware of but choose not to fix or even deal with.

Linksys routers are compatible with all the computer and laptops whether old or new…  Even the Router can able to get connect in any Operating System…  So if you can tell me what was the exact problem that you were getting in the older computers…

  • I have an old Airport Express that won't connect/set up with Yosemite. Any help appreciated

Hi, as the title suggests I have an old Airport Express that I have always used wirelessly to connect to my hifi but now that I have upgraded to Yosemite it won't connect via Airport Utility  6.3.4 and Yosemite won't let me use Airport Utility 5.6  Seems I'm stuck between a rock and hard place! Ethernet is no use as the hifi is in another room. Yosemite is running on an iMac and is connected wirelessly to Virgin Broadband. Thanks, Alex.

If the AirPort Express is very old, such as the original 802.11b/g - only models A1084 or A1088 you will need a commensurately older version of both AirPort Utility and OS X to configure it. Those models were discontinued about seven years ago and support for them is gone. Ethernet won't make a difference anyway.
You may find instructions or links to web sites with instructions to modify OS X in an effort to circumvent that restriction. I cannot emphasize enough just how bad an idea that would be.

It will not connect because transfering data to other phones via bluetooth is not supported on the iPhone.

  • Zen Micro won't connect to computer with WMP 10 or higher instal

I've searched high and low for what could be causing this problem and nothing seems to be working. I just recently formatted my hard dri've. Before I formatted it my Micro was working just fine with the computer and I had WMP installed. After the format the computer won't load the device with WMP installed, so I rolled back to WMP 0 and it still wouldn't load the device. Then I rolled back to WMP 9, that comes with Windows XP, and it loads it perfectly fine. I've looked for plug-ins and hotfixes and everything else and absolutely nothing is working. Everytime I plug the device in with WMP 0 or loaded it brings up the "Found New Hardware" wizard and then it times out when trying to load the MTP driver. However, I plugged it into my friends computer and it loads perfectly fine. The firmware on the player is the latest because I had to update it for WMP before.
The thing that I don't get is why it has trouble loading the MTP driver with WMP 0 or installed but when WMP 9 is what is installed it loads it right away with no problems. Does anyone know what I can do??Also, since I formatted the hard dri've all my music is currently backed up on the Micro so I don't want to have to format it. And as far as I know WMP is the only way to get all of the songs off of the Micro, if there is any other way to get all of the songs off that would be helpful too. I can get most of the songs off just by drag and drop, but I can't get all of them for some reason. PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! thanks

I have had this problem creep up on me lately, but it doesn't happen every time though. I've been able to get around it by trying two or three times to reconnect it, but a couple of times it got right stubborn. In that situation, it seemed restarting my PC did the trick.
Not sure if that helps, but...

  • I read a post about connecting to Vista with Finder Go

but the guy was asking if there was a way to not use that work around.. i was hoping someone could explain how to connect to a vista PC using that Finder > Go > Connect to Server method i tried using the local IP of the PC but it didnt work am i missing something?

you have to enable file sharing on your mac so that you can share files with windows computer - you also need to create a password protected account on the windows machine that has permission to read and if you wish write to the folders you plan to share - then you simply use the finder method Go > connect to server and as the previous poster showed you use smb://myvista-pc when you click connect it should prompt you for a username and password to access the share - this will be the username and password you setup on the vista machine not your username on your mac - I use a 24" imac and my wife prefers to stick with windows vista.. i have no problem connecting, viewing, or editing files on her vista machine using this method in fact in some very basic tests i did the transfer of files is much quicker than between two windows machines

  • Windows 7 won't connect to internet with BT Fon or...

Sorry if this has already been done, but I've searched for an hour & can't find my solution.
Windows 7 is security-conscious to the point of paranoia. I assume this is the reason it won't sign on to the open services! I get a 'connected' message, followed by 'internet not available'. At no point am I offered a login, and there's nothing in the settings about it.
I bought this laptop so I can travel with it - I need it to recognise Fon and Openzone points wherever they're available, and log itself on. Just like my Blackberry does ...
This has to be a matter of overriding some settings (and perhaps adding a new one). Can someone advise, please?

    Hi. Welcome to the forums
My desktop Win 7 connects to FON (I pick the BTOpenzone connection), and when I then try a google, I get presented with a login page. If you aren't seeing the login page, then perhaps you can type in directly :-
    https://www.btopenzone.com:8443
and choose the BTBroadband option entering your primary email address and associated passsword.

  • Mac Mini won't connect to internet with airport

    Hello All,
I have a three year old Mac Mini 1.83 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo at my office.  We all use macs and connect to the internet using a Time Capsule (Simultaneous Dual Band II).  Everyone else's computers are connecting to the internet and working just fine, but my computer constantly keeps failing to connect properly.  I have to continually reboot my computer to get access.  It will connect and stay connected for a little while, but then quit working all of a sudden again.  I would say it disconnects about 10-15 times during the day.  When I open up the diagnostic utility, it shows the following:
    Airport - Green Light
    Airport Settings - Green Light
    Network Settings - Green Light
    ISP - Failed
    Internet - Failed
    Server - Failed
Whenever I start having problems, everyone else's computers are connected and working just fine. I cannot figure out what the problem is and why my computer keeps showing that i'm connected, but won't let me access the internet.  This problem just started a few weeks ago, but it is getting worse because it is starting to happen more frequently.  Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

With the information that you have provided in your post, it seems clear that the Time Capsule, which is providing the wireless network, is working just fine, providing a good wireless signal to the area. Since that's the case, there is really not any adjustment or change to the Time Capsule that we can recommend.
You might look for sources of wireless interference like cordless phones or other electronics that may be in close proximity to the Mac Mini, or obvious obstructions in the signal path, particularly any metal objects like a filing cabinet or shelving system.
Other than that, we would recommend that you post in the Mac Mini forum for some possible answers, or the forum for the operating system that you are running on the Mac Mini. Start here and select the area(s) that you need.
    https://discussions.apple.com/index.jspa
It's always possible of course, that the wireless card in the Mac Mini is failing, or the internal antenna connector has an intermittment connection, but we'll leave that diagnosis to the experts in the forums for the Mac Mini or your operating system.
If we missed something that would point to the Time Capsule as the source of connection problems with the Mac Mini, please let us know.

  • MBP late 2013 won't connect to TV with HDMI cable

Yesterday I connected my MBP (late 2013) with a SCEPTRE TV using an HDMI cable and it worked perfectly.
I wake up the next day and try to connect it again but the TV says "No Signal"
I didn't touch the set up in any way so nothing changed physically.

  • Officejet Pro 8600 won't connect to wireless with Wireless extender connected

I am trying to get an Officejet Pro 8600 to connect to a wireless network, but it will not connect when my wireless network extender is connected. Once I disconnect the extender, it connects fine. Here is the setup. I have a Netgear wireless cable gateway CG3000D with a Amped Wireless Dual Band Router (R20000G) connected to the Netgear via ethernet cable. The Amped router is setup as a wireless extender, the Netgear and Amped share the same SSID. All my other devices work just fine connecting, laptops, cell phones, and IPads. When the Officejet 8600 tries to connect with the Amped connected, it tells me invalid password. Once I disconnect the Amped, the Officejet connects just fine. Any ideas how to get the Officejet to connect to the wireless with the Amped extender connected? Thanks

Are you using the same passkey on the extended network? (It is best to)
If so I would try using different SSIDs.  The printer will try to connect to the network with the better signal which might change depending on wireless interference.  There is no way to force the printer to connect to one network over another if the SSIDs are the same.
One other possibility.  Is the passkey the same for both 2.4 and 5ghz on the Amped Dual Band router?  Most routers can be set up to have different passkeys for each band.  The printer is a 2.5ghz device and will need that password the same on both the Amped and Netgear routers.
Please let me know your results.  Extending networks is becomming more common.  Understanding how to work with them will help everyone.

  • Ipad won't connect to itunes with sim card inserted

    I have an interesting situation.
I bought a second hand Ipad 32GB WiFi + 3G from a user who was upgrading to the iPad 2. They kept their SIM card and we purchased a replacement SIM card from AT&T's website. (The original SIM card was also from AT&T)
Without the SIM card inserted, the Ipad works perfectly, the same as my other WiFi-only Ipads do. When I insert the SIM card, however, even with the 3G service turned off in settings, Windows & ITunes will no longer even recognize that the Ipad is connected (that's to say powering off the Ipad, installing SIM card, powering Ipad back up and then connecting it w/ the same known working USB Sync cable).
Anyone have any ideas? Right now I'm not even worried about using the 3G, I'd just like to have the SIM card installed so that the 3G can be setup & activated if / when it's needed and we're out and about. Besides not being recognized by the PC, the Ipad w/ SIM card installed works perfectly well on it's own, but (obviously) I'm unable to sync anything to / from it, or back it up in iTunes.
Hoping someone can point me in the direction of something obvious that I've missed.

The only idea/suggestion I have is that you do a reset of your iPad, with the SIM card installed: Press Home + sleep/wake buttons simultaneously until the white Apple logo appears.

  • Sony DCR-HC62 camcorder won't connect to iMovie with express card adapter

I got a Sony HC62 Mini DV video camera but it will not connect to iMovie. Since I don't have a firewire 6 pin on my Mac (only a 9 pin) i got an express card adapter. So I am using 4 pin (camera) to 6 pin (Express card) firewire. I have no other devices to test the express card but i tested the firewire and the video camera that I got and it works fine with a Windows XP computer. I have also talked with sony and I ended up with either there is something wrong with the express card or the iMovie software.

Well there is nothing there because the express card is listed under a PCI card. The express card is recognized when inserted but that is it will not notice the camera attached to the express card. since i couldn't test the card i went and got the card replaced, but still with no luck.
Would returning the express card and buying a firewire 4 pin to 9 pin be worth it? (given that i can get one since i can only find one company that makes them and they are a wholesales only) This way i can connect it directly to my mac's firewire 9 pin port.

  • Need Help, my Ipod Nano won't connect and sync with ituens

So I downloaded the most recient itunes update the other night, and now my ipod nano will not sync with itunes.  My computer when I search devies and printer shows in devies as (apple ipod USB device, and for unspecified devices Apple Moble Device USB Driver), and I have tried other ipods around the house and they will sync with my itunes with no problem.... also another thing is that if I close the itunes and try to reopen itunes with my nano is pluged in it will not open. But when I remove this particular Ipod, and try to reopen itunes ill will open.
I have tried redownloading itunes a million times, used different USBs, restored itunes to new, and restarted ipod, and have restarted the computer a million times.
Why is it that this one nano will no longer link to itunes so that I can update my music on it. Please any one begging you, I am loosing my mind a patiences. Anyone help me please, I just want to update my music on this ipod.
How can one ipod no longer sync????
    Please and thanks.

I saw in one thread related to this that you have to make sure that the process "iTunes Helper" is running when you have your iPod connected. You can see that by running Activity Monitor, select All Processes, and then look for iTunes Helper. Based on everything else you tried, there could be a physical problem with your Nano. One of the pin connections may be bad. Will it show up on another Mac's iTunes?

  • IPhone won't connect to iTunes with Remote app

When I attempt to connect to my iTunes library using the Remote app on my iPhone 4 (iOS 4.2), it tells me the password is incorrect even though I'm 100% positive it is (it's only four digits, not too hard to get right). I was able to connect my iPhone to iTunes up until I installed iOS 4.2 - I think.
    Anyone else having this problem?

Follow theses steps and see if it helps.
    * Open Finder and look for the iTunes in Applications folder
    * Move the folder and the iTunes icon to the Trash
    * Open Go and type Go to Folder.
    * Type /System/Library/Extensions and hit return.
    * Find AppleMobileDevice.kext and move it to the Trash.
    * Similarly move AppleMobileDeviceSupport.pkg file to the trash
    * Restart the computer
    * Reinstall iTunes and see if the iPhone is detected.
