E398 not syncing anymore

I've had my e398 for the last year and a half and have been syncing it with isync since I got my mini last may.
I had thought the USB cable connection had been kind of flaky, so I cleaned the contacts and tried again.
The problem was iSync would say:

[E398] The phone cable is not plugged.
Please plug the phone cable on your computer.
Device "E398" synchronization failed
And not sync anything. I used to be able to solve this problem by holding the plug in tighter, and sometimes it would work, but that may have just been a placebo. It would be rare for the sync to actually work, even though the device would show up in the system profiler.
Today, after performing a software update on my phone, I have the option for USB drive access when the phone is plugged in to USB. Now when I try to sync, it will say "Switching phone to modem mode" or something of the sort, the phone will respond and do stuff, then once it is set in modem mode again, iSync will just give me the "the phone is not plugged in" error message, which is blatantly wrong because it just communicated with it a second ago.
Is there a way to either get this sync working again, or possibly exporting the contacts to something that I could load on my motorola phone via USB drive?

A little update:
I can sync the phone with the motorola phone tools on my PC, but it doesn't do nearly as good a job as iSync (i.e. I lose phone numbers that don't correspond to existing fields like secondary home numbers, etc.)
This is very strange. Everything else can see it and sync with it except for iSync. The mini even sees it for USB drive access, but still refuses to sync with it.

Each time you sync photos from a computer to an iPhone using iTunes, the non-Camera Roll photos on the phone are set to match the current settings/selections on the photos page of iTunes. If you moved your previously synced photos to the new computer and if you select them to be synced to the phone along with any new photos you want synced then they will all go to the phone. If you don't include them in the selection to be synced, they will be deleted from the phone. Note that you can rearrange the old photos into different photos on the computer if desired, sync just some of them if desired, etc. Each time you sync, the phone is set to match the current settings for photos.

A number of people have reported bluetooth and wifi problems with the newer iOS. While I have not experienced it, I can only say to check in the "More Like This" section in the right side of this thread. The ones with the green check mean they have been answered. Something there may assist you.
User troubleshooting includes restart, reset (which you have already done), restore from a backup, and restore as a new device. A restore can result in the loss of data, which is normally put back if you use the backup. Restore as new device deletes everything and the phone is as new. This is the last resort prior to a visit to the Apple store to have the hardware diagnosed. Calendar not syncing anymore...

Hey there ~ my iPhone isn't syncing with my iCal or Address Book anymore and I can't figure out why or how to fix it. I just keep getting the following error message:
"iTunes could not sync contacts to the iPhone because the sync server failed to sync the phone"

Try resetting the Sync History. Go to Applications > iSync > iSync menu > Preferences. Wiat a few seconds for the button to change from grayed out to active, then click Reset Sync History.

Google calendar not syncing anymore with my BB and vice-versa

Hi everyone!
A few days ago, I updated my BB curve 9360 to OS 7.1 and earlier today I noticed that my Google calendar was not syncing properly... Well wasn't syncing at all. However I received mails and was able to delete them correctly
First I noticed, that my email address was not registered as a calendar anymore. Then I tried to send service books which added my Google calendar as default calendar in my BlackBerry (good thing I guess).
But that's all it did. Now, when I add a new event in Google calendar using my BB, it doesn't sync with the Internet-based calendar and when I add a new event in Google calendar, it does not sync with my BB either (and I have waited more than 30 minutes).
So here is what I can do to try and solve this problem:
-Send service books one more time but I don't think it is very useful
-Delete my email account and setting it up once again
So I am completely lost because it has always worked until I updated my OS from 7.0 to 7.1. My data plan hasn't changed.

To resolve this issue with calendar synchronization, please try forcing a Gmail® synchronization on the BlackBerry® Curve™ 9360 smartphone. Before doing this could you please verify once more that your default calendar on the BlackBerry® Curve™ 9360 smartphone is still listed as your Gmail® account?
1. Click the Menu key > Options > under Accounts click the Gmail® account > remove the Checkmark from Wireless Synchronization > click the Back menu key and Save
2. Under Accounts click the Gmail® account > place a Checkmark in the Wireless Synchronization box > click the Back menu key and Save
Note: The following prompt will appear " Some of your calendar changes might be lost. Enable wireless Calendar?" Yes or No. Click Yes

Keyboard Shortcuts do not sync anymore (iCloud, OSX 10.9.5 & iOS 8)

Hey everyone,
since I updated my iPhone 5 and iPad (3. Gen.) to iOS 8 all my keyboard shortcuts are gone and don't sync anymore between the devices.
On my MacBook Pro (OSX 10.9.5) the keyboard shortcuts are still there. (Probably because Yosemite isn't out yet)
Until I updated to iOS 8 everything worked just fine.
I tried to figure out what the settings have to be and I found that article including a video:

iCloud is activated on every device
Documents and Date is enabled
Don't know why apple would have switched off that pretty need feature...
Any idea, what I could do?

My keyboard shortcuts were disappearing and reappearing, daily or hourly, about 50% reliable since iOS 8 update. Then did the 8.0.2 update and enabled iCloud Drive.
Since then, nothing. no shortcuts working at all on iPad Air. They show up in Settings.. General.. Keyboard.. Shortcuts.. but they do not work at all. Rebooted every day, three days now, no joy. Keyboard Shortcut function on my iPad Air is broken.

Iphone not syncing anymore with exchange server

my Iphone has worked perfectely for a few months with exchange server for synchronising agenda's and email receiving and sending out via exchange....
Since a few days not working anymore, everytime info wrong pasword. All settings are correct, what could be the problem. My Iphone receives direct ema-ils, works on internet...and can sentout, my mobile me works perfect, only not the exchange server is not working anymore.

I assume from what you posted that you mean the user has created contacts in the "default" address book instead of in their Exchange address book.
If that's the case, then can not be "moved" to the Exchange address book. The user will have to export them from whatever contact manager they are syncing that particular contact list with and import them using their Outlook client, or they will have to re-enter them in the correct address book.

Outlook does not sync anymore with W995

Hi all
Up till last week, my outlook calendar was synchronized well with the calendar of my W995.
Last week, I started missing appointments, and a quick investigation showed that my calendar was not updated anymore for 5 days.
When I start the synchronization manually (using SE PC companion 2.0 on Windows, 7, connected via bluetooth) it connects, starts reading my calendar items from outlook and then quits. It does not even stop or saying it's finished, SEPC just disappears (or maybe even crashes, but no message is given). It does also not reside in the taskbar.
Other parts of SEPC work fine, like filetransfer, managing contacts etcetera, so the connection between SEPC and my phone looks okay.
Both SEPC as well as the software of my W995 are up to date
Anyone has a suggestion how to resolve this issue?

An easy way of finding out if there's a particular PIM category causing this is to sync each one separately.
Like, begin by syncing only contacts to see if it fails in the same way. If not move over to next category.
I suspect that maybe there's a problem with calendar sync specifically. If so you could create a new calendar folder in MS Outlook and try to sync with that one instead to check if the same error appears.

Iphone and Ical on mac do not sync anymore. All my events are in the iphone calendar! How do I backup iphone calendar, and how do I fix the syncronizing problem?

After getting iCloud the iCal on my mac does not sync with my iPhone calendar. All of my calendar notes are in my iPhone (while the mac's Ical remains empty) so I need to backup the iphone version. How?
Itunes says that "your calendars are being syncronized with iphone using icloud" - but the mac's ical does not show any of the new events I have added on my iphone.
I would like to install the new update on my iphone, but I am afraid to do it without knowing that I will be able to restore my iphone calendar. I have made calendar events for many years to come, I and will not risk losing them!
I have been looking for tips online, but the solutions usually suggest that I backup the ical on the mac and start fresh using this version. In other words overwrite iphone calendar with the ical from the mac. Which is not an option. What can I do?

Moments in Photos are the new Events, i.e. groupings of photos sorted by date taken.
When the iPhoto Library was first migrated to Photos there was a folder created in the sidebar titled iPhoto Events and all migrated iPhoto Events (which are now Moments) are represented by an album in that folder. To open the sidebar if it's not already open use the Option+Command+S key combination.
There's a way to simulate events in Photos.
When new photos are imported into the Photos library go to the Last Import smart album, select all the photos and use the File ➙ New Album menu option or use the key combination Command+N. Name it as desired. It will appear just above the iPhoto Events folder where you can drag it into the iPhoto Events folder
When you click on the iPhoto Events folder you'll get a simulated iPhoto Events window.
The downside to the simulation is that the Albums/Events can only be sorted automatically by Title. But they can also be sorted manually, either in the sidebar or in the folder's window at the right.

ITunes 7.1 and photos not syncing anymore

I am hoping for a little help from the knowledgeable forum members. I updated to the latest version of iTunes and now my iPod/iTunes will not sync with my photo library in Elements 3.0. It worked fine until now and it is giving me an “unknown error (-50)” whatever that means. I have tried running the “repair” option on installation and I have tried reinstalling iTunes without any luck. Elements 3.0 is running fine. Any ideas…

i'm with CoJeff on this one.
typically it's the firewall with NIS 2005 (or standalone Norton Personal Firewall) that causes grief with iTunes. (we've had these issues dating back to the iTunes 4.8 days with NIS 2005), but every now and then i see reports of that worm protection feature causing grief in similar ways.
the amount of reports of problems with NIS 2006 and 2007 are literally a couple of orders of magnitude less than with NIS 2005. so it may be worth just upgrading to one of the more recent versions.
... if you'd prefer to stick with your 2005, though, let us know and we can try running through a few of techniques we've used to deal with this.

My daughter logged me out of my Itunes account and maybe did some other things!! My Ipod is now not synced to the account and now no device appears in Itunes for me. How can I re-sync it again. I am not computer savvy so the simpler the answer the better. Thanks.
