E4200 - came dead

I bought an E4200 and brought it to Brazil but for my surprise it came dead. The cisco's logo lights but the router system doesn't start. I also tried to reset it according the linksys support instruction but it didn't work. I'm feeling tricked because linksys told me that it has international warranty but don't.. I spoke with Linksys USA and they can't replace it since I'm in Brazil and Linksys Brazil can't replace it because they don't support the e4200 model yet. So I just lost my investment...Cisco-Linksys E4200 Maximum Performance Simultaneous Dual-Band Wireless-N Router

As you menhioned about the cisco logo light lit-up on the router.. Did you check at back of the router where you plug the cables if the light lit-up there or not ..
If it does lit-up.. Check the ipaddress on your computer and try to ping the gateway address of the router.
And if it does'nt li-up.. try to change the Ethernet cable
Reset the router for 30 sec and then check the light status again.
Check if the LAN ( Local area connection ) is enabled or not.

    Hi,
I have two NAC Managers with High Availability and  i have used both sides eth1 interface as a Heartbit link.
I have done following Steps for High Availability.
    1) Synchronize the times between two CAMs.
    2) Generate a Temporary SSL certificate in both CAMs and done export-import procedure in each other.
    3) Make One CAM as a  Primary and another as Seconday.
But after all this configuration done i can see the status in Monitoring> Reports as--------Primary CAM is up in both the servers and Redundant CAM is down.
Also in Failover Tab i can see ------Local CAM - OK [Active] and   Peer CAM :- DEAD.
I have also attached some screenshots so you can find out the same.
    Your help will highly appreciated.
    Thanks

  • Digital camera dead after firmware download

    Hi!
I downloaded firmware from OLYMPUS site (from link on Olympus Master 2 .app) to my digital camera FE220-X785.
As it reached the end of an (apparently successful) download, the camera went 'dead'. now nothing I can do will open it. Any attempt to connect camera to computer gets the message 'cannot detect camera'. The battery was and is fully charged and I followed instructions.
Another weird thing - maybe unconnected - is that when I restart my computer, the Olympus app starts up also. (I don't have it on my dock and I've checked all the preferences etc.)
The very clever advice from Olympus is that there is something wrong with my camera! (Where do they get these people from?)
Is there a way I can try to remedy this from files in my computer or has the download 'broken into' a circuit in the/a chip in the camera? Or something equally geekie?
I'm using this forum because iphoto (I have version 2) is the default app and till now works well and I wonder if there is any conflict with olympus app.
    Any thoughts anyone?
    Thanks
    Gordon

    Gordon,
Any attempt to connect camera to computer gets the message 'cannot detect camera'.
I assume this is true in iPhoto. Is this also the case in Image Capture? Does the System Profiler detect the camera as a USB connected device? In general, if the System Profiler can't see the camera, then there isn't much else you can do.
Another weird thing - maybe unconnected - is that when I restart my computer, the Olympus app starts up also. (I don't have it on my dock and I've checked all the preferences etc.)
Go to your System Preferences, click on Accounts, then select the Login Items tab. Is the Olympus app listed there? Another approach is to launch the Olympus app, then Right-click (control-click) its icon in the Dock. See if "Open at Login" is selected, and de-select it.
Is there a way I can try to remedy this from files in my computer or has the download 'broken into' a circuit in the/a chip in the camera? Or something equally geekie?
If you had the previous version of the firmware you could try downloading it back to your camera, to downgrade it. I don't know how, since you can't get the computer to acknowledge the camera. Olympus would have to help you there.
I'm using this forum because iphoto (I have version 2) is the default app and till now works well and I wonder if there is any conflict with olympus app.
Try placing the camera card into a USB media card reader. The card should mount on the Desktop as an external device so that you can save your photos to the Mac. You could do this via drag and drop in the Finder, using Image Capture, or using iPhoto. If there are no photos currently on the camera card, then use the camera to reformat the card before taking new photos. If the format of the card got corrupted, that can interfere with the camera being recognized by the computer.
If you upgrade your OS to Leopard, then you will no longer be able to run iPhoto 2.
    Regards.

  • Support for new dead iPod Video?

I just received from Apple the new iPod Video last Thursday. I was familiar with earlier versions and was impressed with the video quality. I loaded tons of songs and thousands of pictures. Downloaded Desperate Housewives since there is nothing else worth watching from the Apple store. The iPod started turning itself off within 1 day. The only way to turn it back on was to press center and menu keys. It worked for a day or so.
I called Apple Support and was asked to do a restore from the original computer, which happened to be PC desktop at home. I did, nothing changed.
I am Technology Coordinator at the school where we have about 450 Macs so I am fairly familiar with Apple support and technology part.
My mom died and I flew to Europe on Saturday. Before that I loaded tons of pictures and videos to the laptop to show my family. I bought protective case and do not even have a scratch yet but the iPod died. I took iBook with me and have many PC laptops around here but iPod can not be revived. I tried everything to reset, restore that thing. Hard drive does not spin, screen is black, it does not even drain any power from USP port. I can not get to any of my pictures out of it. I should have transferred them all to the iBook before but that would have erased the existing old l-Tunes Library. Now I am SOL.
I purchased Apple Protection plan for the iPod so I felt safe. Well, I filled out the online case now, got the numbers and nothing happened. Promised email never came, dead silence. Tried again, same thing. Well, I am not going to call Apple Support from Europe and spend a fortune to wait for my sorry turn. Needless to say I am little PO'd.
I live online and can process tons of school emails from Europe but I can’t get to Apple.
    Major pain.

    Check this out.
    iPod battery doesn't charge.
Sometimes if the battery gets completely discharged, simply connecting to a USB port on the computer doesn't supply enough power to "kick start" the charging process. In theory it should do, but yours seems to be a common problem.
Do you have access to a wall charger?

  • K8NGM2-FID - Dead board? :(

K, I´m building a new system as follows:
Athlon 64 3200 (Venice core, stock heatsink and fan)
    K8NGM2-FID
    2 Geil Ultra-X 512mb memory
    NEC 3540 DVD burner
    Samsumg 80gb IDE HD
    Windows XP SP2
I was upgranding from a socket A mobo, so I don´t have a PCI-e vid card. The processor was out of the box as well, so I can´t guarantee the problem is not with it, but everything points to the mobo. The mobo came with the 3.13 bios, but it shows a threatning "enginering sample" during post. So, I´ve assembled the system and put my old HD on it and turn the thing on, resulting in random freezes during boot up or just after entering Windows. There wasn´t even time to load the driver´s cd on it. Just to test it, I´ve copied everything out of my drive, formated it and tried to reinstall windows. Tried 6 times, none worked (the system frozed at random times). Used another HD, with the same result. Changed IDE cables. Still, nothing. Decided to flash the bios. Copied the 3.20 bios to the HD, used a MS-DOS boot disk and tried to flash it, resulting in a messenge of "unknown chipset vendor - error - chipset not supported" or something close to that.
So, I take the board came dead to me. Is there anything else I might be missing?
If this board came dead, I´m screwed. A friend of my in the US bought it in the US (Newegg) and shipped to me (I live in Brazil) and will probably cost more to RMA than to buy a new one :(
Anyone know if MSI can help me with that?

It probably costs as much as a new mobo to RMA it back to the US, and then back in here to Brazil (probably will need to pay Customs taxes again...). I just lost over $100 bucks (mobo+shipping) because MSI is throwing "engineering samples" at vendors. Good policy, btw!

  • ISight no longer works

OK, hope the collective wisdom here can help me out.
I recently unpacked my iSight after moving. Before i moved i was using my iSight with my G5 [i believe i was at 10.4 when i moved]. I put the camera back in its original packaging for transport, but didn't get it back out right away.
This afternoon i dug it out for fun and find that none of my machines recognizes it. I've tried multiple cables, different ports on each machine, and even tried the QT 7.0.1 reinstaller on my PB.
All i get now when i plug the camera in is the green light. The light stays on no matter if the lens cover is open or closed. I also don't hear any focusing happening.
Is this camera dead, or is there some sort of reset that i'm missing? I'd hate to be out the cash, since i've had this iSight for a few years, and am sure i'm out of warranty period.
    Thanks in advance.
    PowerMac G5 1.8Ghz/PowerBook G4 1.87Ghz/PowerMac G4 867Mhz   Mac OS X (10.4.3)

It sounds to me as if your iSight needs professional help.
Humidity or shock may have damaged your iSight in moving or long-term storage. (I never put my iSight back in its plastic case without a fresh desiccant pack.)
You seem to have been thorough in your testing, but if you missed any of the suggested checks in How to test your iSight to ensure it is functional, try them now.
If your iSight fails, see your Apple Service Technician for a professional check.

  • Linksys Smart Wifi - Not as many useful features as the Original Interface

The user interface requires more work. It doesn't seem to have many of the useful features that were standard in the original interface. Is there any chance of us being able to choose to go back to the original version?

I just purchased the EA6500.  A sleek looking unit that I would sell in a heartbeat.  I had finally become quite happy with my E4200.  Well to be more precise, I was happy with the interface. The interface for the EA6500 is frustrating.  Why can’t I roll it back to the original and classic version?
Why not add a few basic refinements to keep me (and many others I am sure) happy.
    1.            The DHCP Current Clients.
    -              MAC ID info would be nice
    -              Not up to dated instantly if at all
    -              Some devices/clients show up while others do not or never show up
    -              Why can’t we easily copy text as before?
    2.            Router resets and temporarily disconnects ALL clients when you:-
    -              Add, move or change a DHCP reserved  client
    -              MAC Filter ID added, moved or changed
    3.            MAC Filter – Lack of info
    -              Why not show associated device information for all filtered
    -              Why not show currently connected devices and info such as IP and device name
    -              Why reset with changes
    4.            Customer support used to be available by phone. Now to cut costs, we have been reduced to communicating through a chat-window.
During a recent firmware upgrade, a power outage put my E4200 out of commission and reduced it from an essential part of my household, to a paper weight with a flashing light.  Online support with very little investigation told me to go out and buy a new router because  there is nothing they can do to fix it.  The E4200 is dead.
I didn’t throw out the E4200, but I did purchase the EA6500.  I did so mainly because of my mostly positive experience with Linksys/Cisco products and customer service. I am beginning to see a change in future assessments.
At $200 (CAN), my new EA6500 is easily the most expensive router I have EVER owned.  You’d think I’d be able to speak to customer support reps on the phone if I had a problem. Instead we get this online chat-window which is not customer-service oriented at all.
    -              There are no audible cues, so you dare not leave the PC
    -              Sit there until you see text in the Chat Window….. Cisco!....That’s PATHETIC
And then while looking for a cisco place to vent, I had to go to Facebook.  Are you serious Cisco?
Can you see why I might consider taking a second look at Dlink?
    Sincerely
    A disappointed, under-whelmed and potential ex-cisco customer.

  • IPhone 5 App Store keyboard glitch -- persistent green lines at bottom of screen

I just brought home my new black 32GB iPhone 5 from the Verizon store.  After using it for an hour or so, and switching over to WiFi, I entered my Apple ID password in the App Store to (re)download an app.  My password requires me to switch to the ".?123" keyboard.  The bottom ~1/5 of my screen became fuzzy, as though the keyboard overlay was sticking around longer than it should have.  After a short time, glitch resolved to a state that's been "permanent" - vertical green lines.  These green lines fade in slowly after I wake the screen from sleep.  They've persisted through multiple power off > on cycles, a hard reset, and even through the upgrade to iOS 6.02.  Interestingly, screen captures do not seem to grab these green lines.
Any ideas on how I can fix this, or am I going to have to get the phone replaced?

I think this is normaly. I've had some issues (gone through 6 replacements - not trivial issues, dead home button, dead camera, dead wifi that kind of thing). I noticed this on the 3rd replacement and everyone since. People are claiming that they have received "flawless screens" (whatever that means). I think the Sharp pannels are the ones that don't show these interlacing lines and AU Optronic pannels do. I have experience with AU Optronic pannels and everyone that I have ever owned (Motorola Xoom, PC Monitors, etc...) have done this. It is too bad that Apple settled for this manufacturer, but it is a gamble whether you will get one that doesn't do it. It is normal and within specs as most the iPhones at this point with have AU pannels due to Sharp's shortage.
The geniuses will likely not replace an iPhone for this reason. If you have AppleCare+ and have an incident in the future, perhaps you'll get lucky and get a sharp pannel put on to replace the AU pannel. But, there is no way to know which phones have which pannels.
Interestingly, I checked at the Apple store and 50% of the display models did it, and the genius that I spoke to's iphone 5 did it. You can find wall paper that is alternating black and white lines one pixel in width and it will cause the screen to flicker. Like you, I REALLY wish that apple DID NOT choose AU Optronics and if I had known I would have waited to purchase, but now I have it and cannot return it. I may sell it and move back to my previous phone. Given that the #1 selling feature is the retina display, it is disappointing to see a low quality pannel used. I really like the iPhone, but this is pretty much a deal breaker - and not knowing if you will get one that does it, or doesn't makes it very hard to "trust" a future production. I would rather have waited for the Sharp pannels and delayed getting an iPhone due to supply issues, than Apple finding an alternative, lower quality, source to produce them.

somebody plzz help me plzzzzzzz ....i just love my n8.......

Yes I'm having the same problems. Taking pictures, then only seeing faint squares on the camera roll, with not pictures. When trying to raise photo, camera goes back to setting. This is my 4th Iphone, first one I purchased, took 100 pictures and downloaded them on a Dell Laptop, then faint squares on Camera roll showed up, taking it back to an Apple store in Louisville, Ky, getting a new phone, doing the same thing to a second party, another 100 photos, downloaded them, and again no pics, just empty squares, then I sent it to Apple, got a loaner service phone, and loaner phone wouldn't take pictures either, got a brand new phone from Apple service, invoice saying "replaced with new unit", and it again would not take pictures. 4 phones, and two service phones, and the last one a brand new phone from Apple service direct to my ole Indiana home, and still it doens't take and then store pictures, does just what the other phones have done, nothing different, still doesn't work, still doesn't take pictures, still not I wanted, and I'm going to keep trying. Let me hear from any one who has the same problem, or anyone who might have an answer, Joe

  • Hot / dead pixel elimination in later versions of Camera RAW

    Hi!
I was wondering if we could get some under the hood info on how Camera RAW handles hot / dead pixels. The standard answer 'Camera RAW eliminates these automatically' does not apply I'm afraid. I've seen more and more of these stuck pixels in my final output over the last few CR versions. Now, it could be my camera showing its age, but I'd like to know more about how Camera RAW maps stuck pixels.
I've just re-developed a set of some stage performance from last year, Canon 5D Mark II, high ISO and pushed, yes, but thats my whole niche. There's stuck pixels in all of them in the same spots. So I wondered how camera raw handles the whole mapping / processing of hot pixels. The set of images are here, and there's access to full size images also: http://www.flickr.com/photos/mvejerslev/sets/72157627732199199/ (I did clone out the stuck pixels on just a few of them though). It's a mix of processing version 2010 and 2012. Did not make a difference to the stuck pixels.
    Mathias

Well, the issue with higher ISO images is: what's a hot pixel vs. what's a result of salt & pepper noise–those are different artifacts...
When you start ramping up the ISO (and use PV 2010 or 2012 without luminance noise reduction) the likelyhood of random bright (more or less) pixels (or subgroups of pixels) goes up.
The hot pixel fix is still in LR/ACR...but it becomes a battle between what's a hot pixel vs what's a result of camera noise...and ACR/LR tend to be very conservative when it comes to mapping out a hot pixel (or dead or constantly a certain color pixel).
ACR/LR can really only estimate what constitutes a hot pixel because there's no way of recording the XY position of a single pixel and telling it how to handle the mapping. It's an auto thing and as such it's subject to sometimes not working perfectly...
To really determine the issue, one (or Eric) would need an actual raw file–not something that's already been processed and resample. The more examples of ACR/LR not doing an optimal result the better the likelyhood somebody will look at doing something about it.

Help iphone 4S went dead, I did not drop it, docked to PC and error came up that it can't be restored

    Hi
I followed this guy's instructions and it worked:
    http://evsiphone.blogspot.com/2009/05/iphone-iphone-could-not-be-restored.html
I did disable the security (AVG and Zone Alarm) when I tried on my own PC. My wife's laptop which eventually got it working also uses AVG and Zone Alarm but on an XP O/S whereas my PC is Vista - maybe this is why.
    Cheers for you help.

Sorry to hear that. Did it by any chance get moisture on it?
i have plugged into 3 different computers including my mac.
What did/does Apple System Profiler say about it in teh USB tree when plugged in?
I just called Apple. They are sending me a new one. He said its a "software issue" when I read him my serial #. wow.
THAT's interesting. Would you share with us the serial number so that others might be able to address this issue with Apple support? I'm a bit skeptical about it being an unaddressed "software" issue, especially since it would seem cheaper to be fixed with a firmware update than incurring the costs of replacing affected shuffles...
coincidentally I went to walmart this morning and asked him if they knew of any issues. he said, the shuffle is nothing but problems but the nano is very solid. thats a total bummer as I really like the shuffle for my purposes (elite triathlete) and training.

After the latest iOS update, camera went dead, black screen on both rear and front cameras when using Apple Camera occasionally can capture video but photo is dead. Not a hardware issue I suppose, since it works just fine with Google's SnapSeed App. Does anyone else experienced this? Anyone knows how to fix it? How do you complain about it to Apple?

So, basically now... the gallaries are gonna be the same. Because if you delete one photo from the iphone, you also delete it from ipad and viceversa.
This is stupid because i want to keep some photos on the ipad, but don't wanna have them on the phone.
AM I FORCED TO HAVE IPAD AND IPHONE WITH THE SAME PHOTOS???
    what's the point in this???
This is so stupid. if you find any solution, please help.
PS: I have not activated the icloud drive yet.
You have regular albums and shared album.
As long as you do not enable iCloud Photo Library Beta, your photos are stored only on the iPad, unless you add them to a shared album.
When you create an album in the "Albums" tab, with  "tap , enter a name, then tap Save. Select photos and videos to add to the album, then tap Done", this album is local on the iPad or iPhone.
Only "Shared" albums are stored on all devices,
When you delete photos from the photo stream, the deleted photos are removed from My Photo Stream on all your devices, but the original photos remain in Photos on the device on which they were originally taken. Photos that you save to another album on a device or computer are also not deleted.
