E4200 Firmware Won't Generate Backup

I just upgraded my E4200 v1 to firmware v1.0.06.
In the Advanced Options>Administration>Management, at the bottom of the page are buttons labeled "Back Up Configuration" and "Restore Configuration."
When I click on the "Back Up Configuration" button, nothing happens. I initially expected that my popup settings were interfering, but after adding the url to my exceptions list, it made no difference. Besides. the "Restore Configuration" dialog box appears just fine when I click on that button.
I was able to back up just fine in the prior version. This version is new to me, but has actually been around for a while. Could this be just an overlooked bug, after all this time?

I recommend that you phone contact your regional Linksys support office and ask for help and information regarding this.We find that phone contact has better immediate results over using email.

1. Is the new one any more reliable?
(I have not had any reliability issues with the original firmware which I am still using on my current E4200).
2. Does it perform better with one or the other (firmware)?
3. Any other observations you want to share regarding any differences in performance between the two.

Did you call tech support to figure out if your settings (channel etc.) could / should be adjusted?
Sorry it did not work for you yet, but as far as your comments are concerned, I think the following comparison tests shed some light on the reality of the performance of the two.
The E4200 crushed the Apple in the smallnetbuilder.com 'throughput vs. location' 2.4 GHz wireless tests, especially in anything but the closest two locations (look at the numbers for locations E and F):

You’re running an outdated copy of Safari on your Desktop. That won’t work.
In the Finder, select
Go ▹ Applications
from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-A to open the Applications folder. Check that the Safari application is in that folder. If it is, use it, and delete the copy on your Desktop. Never move or copy built-in applications.
If you've deleted Safari from the Applications folder, back up all data, then reinstall OS X. If your Mac was upgraded from an older version of OS X, you’ll need the Apple ID and password you used to upgrade, so make a note of those before you begin.

E4200, Lion and Time Machine backup

Hi there!
Sorry if I'm double posting this, but I didn't find any posts of this thread.
Since lion is there for a while, it is still not possible to make a time machine backup on an USB hdd that's connected to the router.
Is there a fix or workaround for this? Or is Cisco coming with an firmware update?

The disk does not have to be HFS+ formatted. The disk must be formatted in whatever format the NAS, i.e. the E4200 can handle.
Time Machine saves backup in a sparsebundle on network drives. A sparsebundle can be written on any formatted drive. Doesn't have to be HFS+. I do time machine backups on a NAS with ext3 formatted drives...
As mentioned before: the problem is with AFP the protocol to access the network drive. AFP is required to access the network drive and if that doesn't work you can't do the backup. You'll have to wait until Linksys fixes this...

Iphone 4 won't restore backup! NEED HELP ASAP!

Ok so I got an iphone 4 last week on at&t and today decided to switch to verizon. I did so and they switched my contacts and pictures for me. great. So I got home and connected to my macbook pro and I clicked restore from backup or whatever and it was the wrong thing. So it restored from my oldd ipod touch so I lost all contacts and pics. When I click iTunes>preferences>devices I see the backup from the other phone that I need but I need to know how to get that onto my iphone I have now. Please Help!

You won't be able to. Here's why:
Since both your phones are new, they likely had the newest iOS version installed. For AT&T it's 4.3.3; for Verizon it's 4.2.8.
Since the Verizon phone has a LOWER firmware number than AT&T phone, you cannot restore a Verizon phone (older firmware) from an AT&T (newer firmware) backup. You could, however, restore an AT&T phone from a Verizon backup since the AT&T phone has the same, or more recent firmware update.
No way around this. If you search this forum, you'll see many similar posts.
If you used your phone as intended, you shouldn't lose much data at all, other than perhaps some application data. Photos are stored on your computer in iPhoto (unless you didn't do as recommended and upload photos taken by the iPhone into iPhoto), contacts should be synched with Address Book so they should be on your computer. Your iTunes media (videos, music, podcasts, apps) should still be in iTunes ready to be synched onto your new phone.

IPhone5 won`t restore backup. please help

I just got my iphone5 replaced by apple a couple of days ago due to a few issues I had with my phoone and I have backed it up on my hp laptop before going to Apple and then I tried restoring the back-up to the new phone but it will not restore the backup, I just get this message after the back-up restoration " The settings for your Iphone have been restored.Please leave your iPhone connected.It will appear in the iTunes window after it restarts." and then a countdown from 10 begins and the message dissapears and my iPhone is basically set up as a new phone. Can somebody please help me and explain to me what am i doing wrong? I have restored a backup many times before successfully but this time it doesnt seem to be working. Dell Venue 11 Pro Tablet Docking Station - Dock Firmware won't update or output to any monitor

Hi,
Just bought a Dell Venue 11 Pro Tablet Docking Station and it won't output to any monitor via HDMI or Displayport.
I've tried updating the firmware to V02 and V03. I get the message:
Current On-Board Firmware is 0.41.9
Do you want to update with firmware version 0.41.23 (V03) 0.41.19 (V02)
When I select yes I get the following error:
Error: Please unplug the power connector from the Dell desktop dock for 15 seconds, then plug the power connector back into the Dell desktop dock and try again.
This I keep repeating but it will not update.
The model number of the dock is: K10A001.
The only other thing I notice is that the power adapter does not appear the same as any of the pictures I have seen and is a Dell 74VT4 (65w) which seems be for a Dell XPS 18 (1810).
Please help as I think this may need to be sent back.

I've exactly the same problem. I've also the model number K10A001 and the current Firmware 0.41.9, and it is also not possible for me to flash the docking station.
This is also problematic because only one monitor of the two connected monitors works. An this monitor shows only a picture, if it is plugged, after the dockingstation and the Venue 11 Pro has been started.
I think there is maybe an improved flash utility required in order to allow to flash the docking station? If some one had succeeded please respond.

RoboHelp 9 Won't Generate a Word Document

I'm trying to get RoboHelp 9 to generate a Word Document. It won't genterate and throws out the following message in output view:
Preparing to create Printed Documentation...
Clearing output folder...
Preparing files for Print Document...
Copying files...
Updating files...
Finished preparing in 4 seconds.
Preparing environment...
Cleaning up temporary files...
Internal error encountered, Failed to generate Printed Documentation.
This is all I have to go on. I really have no idea where to even start trouble shooting this as there isn't a specific error message.

Have you tried generating a word file from a different project? Try it on one of the sample projects. If it works, try to generate from your project but with a limited set of topics. If this works, there must be a topic that is causing the issue. If you add further topics a few at a time until you hit the issue you will be able to identify it.

New E4200 firmware release?

does anone know when the next release will be out? I have sorted out all the kinks but still loose my media server once in a while and need to reboot the router to get it back. I am using the latest release. NOthing seems to trigger the loss of the TwonkyServer Media Browser it just dissapears and is not accessable untill I reboot but that takes a long time for the router to rescan the external drive all over again.

Interesting. Hiptechboy, You are the first individual that I have found online to confirm the issue I am seeing. 100Mbps internet connection on my e4200 v1 is slow both wirelessly and wired. wired, I lose at least 20% performance, and wireless, I lose at least 50%+ performance.
I have tried Linksys 1.0.03 firmware, currently running dd-wrt firmware, and nothing seems to cure the massive performance drop.
I don't understand how the heck the cNet and other reviewers received performance as high as they claim. I can't touch those levels with a stick, and I am tired of tweaking every little setting to try to squeeze more out of it.
I'm to the point of dropping my internet speed back down to the 30Mbps package since my router isn't allowing me to reach much higher than that.
Frustrating since this is Linksys's top of the line.

Rescue and Recovery won't recognize backup files.

I have backup files on a usb drive, an ultrabay drive and the main hard drive and it won't recognize any of them. Anyone else have this problem?

manusoft, welcome to the forum,
attach the usb drive and then check it's recognised in BIOS. While you're in BIOS ensure that you optical drive is set as first boot device and place the boot disc you created in the optical drive. Save your settings and restart.
The system will boot to the R&R on the disc and in theory you should be able to then install the image.
Consideration; on the systems you move this image to the service partions will probably be no longer functional. I say probably as I've never done this with W7.

Help with iPod 3G... firmware won't boot anymore... please help!

I own an iPod 3G since August 2003.
It always worked well...
but a few days ago I went to turn it on (after not having turned it on for 3 weeks) and it booted, because the Apple logo appears, but it just won't go in!
So I get the Apple logo all the time, until the battery's flat!
After the battery got flat, I tried recharging, but all it does is run the Apple logo again (but I'm pretty sure it does recharge, even though the bar doesnt appear).
I can still put the iPod on Diagnostic Mode... that still works, but not the actual iPod firmware.
I've tried connecting it to the computer too, but nothing happens, Windows says that the USB device wasn't detected.
Please help me!
ps: i did an HDD Scan and after about 5 minutes it said HDD Pass (or something like that)
i did a USB disk scan and it kept scanning and after 30 minutes nothing changed so I gave up (the ipod was really heating up)
windows just recognizes that there's a device connected, but doesnt recognize the device

I-phone 5 crashed durning software update. Now won't accept backup password.

Just tried to update software on i-phone 5. A backup was made. Something crashed durning update and my only option to move forward was to restore the phone to the original settings. Now it won't accept my password to reload the backup; however, the password works elsewhere.

Boot from your system install DVD, run Disk First Aid from your Disk Utility and repair your permissions.

RMAN error? == What job generates backup piece files in $ORACLE_HOME?

Dear experts,
I noticed that I have hundreds of files in $ORACLE_HOME that are backup pieces. I have set up the backup location in +FRA. I am not sure how these files get generated and why the cause an error when RMAN ran as you can see below.

The confusion is that I have a server that deletes the files based on the retention period and has no issues. The other server has identical setup, but it gives an error and it does not delete the backup piece.

I upgraded it, I typed 192, etc. in firefox, when to the maintenance tab, put the dowloaded file in "new firmware location" and clicked "update". It said: "you put a wrong file".

I find it odd because you are actually using the correct file which is bin. Try to delete and redownload it again from the website and try the upgrade again. If that will not work, reset the router and unplug/replug it after that. If you still get the same error, try a different browser and another computer if ever it still would fail using the windows 8 computer.
