E4200- Just couldn't get it to work
So I purchased this product a few weeks for a great price. I knew there was some concern about the router. However, I took a chance and bought it. It was a breeze to set up everything. Yet it didn't take long before I ran into issues. First, let me explain my setup. The router is integral to my overall network. It is tied to client bridge. Also, the Samsung tv, Samsung Blu-ray, Denon receiver, Xbox 360 are also connected through D-Link switch. In addition, there are number wireless devices that get access such as , iphones, laptops, etc. I noticed that I couldn't get the xbox to properly connect to multiplayer matches. Also, facetime lost its connections after a few minutes. I tried to troubleshoot the latency with our cable operator and we zeroed on the router. I found out that the device works for a few minutes after your reset it but it didn't take long before it got flaky again. Subsequently, I ended up returning the device and getting a Airport extreme (not my first choice). However, I must admit that the extreme has been rock solid.
As you mentioned that your Xbox was connected through the D-Link switch which was connected with the Cisco Router E4200 and you were facing the problem of getting properly connect to multiplayer matches... But did you try to connect the Xbox directly to the Router E4200 and checked whether you were getting the same concern? If yes then here is the link which can help you:

Secondly if you were facing the concern with connection then you would have done the following steps but before that let me know how you did install the Router – means was configured with the help of the Cisco Connect Software or did manual configuration?
If you did configure the Router with the help of the Cisco Connect Software then would have opened that up in which you had installed… There you could able to see 4 small window screens…You would have clicked on “Router setting” window…Then clicked on “Advanced settings” button… That would have opened the Router Setup page, clicked on Wireless Tab and made the following wireless channel-
For Channel Settings of 2.4 GHz ---> Channel Width to 20 MHz only and Channel to 6, 9, 11..
For Channel Settings of 5 GHz --->Channel Width to 20 MHz only and Channel to 40 or 161...
Then would have checked the connectivity…
If you did configure the Router manually then would have opened up the browser and on the address bar would have typed 192.168.1.1 that would have opened the Router setup page… From there you would have done the same steps as above…

Going to the local Apple store this morning...
My problem is not uncommon as the board is showing signs of this happening to many others as well. That is where I found the restore and reboot information to try to solve the issue of crashing apps.
I understand that Apple will not "give away the cow", but letting iPhone users know that the problems they are having are being addressed by Apple is a little more comforting than nothing at all. Other wise, all the apps in world are useless and even more importantly worthless, if a person has to reset/reboot/reload just to get them to work.
IF Apple can not address the basic problems with todays iPhone apps, why should one believe that the iPhone 3.0 OS is any better? Using a PC comparison, which is better, XP or Vista. If the current iPhone OS of 2.2. what ever is not working that well (as related to down loaded apps and iTunes), will OS 3.0 be any better?
The waste of time I refer to is in going to the apps store and downloading the apps... Again why by apps if the free version does not work? -
Port 8080: I know this is simple, I just can't get it to work.
I'm trying something that I'm sure is relatively simple. But I just can't get it to work. I have OSX Server 10.4.10. I currently have my company site (www.example.com) hosted on it. But I'm trying to get another site hosted on it at port 8080. When I enter my company domain, www.example.com:8080, the page can't be displayed. But when I enter the IP address, such as 192.168.xxx.xxx:8080 from within my network, the correct site shows up. How can I get a website displayed at port 8080 from outside my network? I'm running DD-WRT on my router and have ports 80 and 8080 directed to the IP address of my server.

I am a tad confused, which isn't new, but I need to get a grasp on exactly what it is that you are trying to do.
Do you have both websites (i.e. www.example1.com and www.example2.com) both pointed at the same ip address? How many unique domain names and ip addresses are we talking about?
From what you describe it sounds like a routing issue but I need more info (:>)

Album artwork.... just can't get it to work right.

I've searched google, I've searched this support community and I've just not been able to come up with an answer.
My album artwork just won't stay put. Some of my albums have artwork and some don't. I've done the "right click" and "get album art work". I've downloaded an app to find art work for the drag and drop method into the "Now Playing" window but it just gets eaten by Itunes (it appears in the window and magically disappears). I've even done the "get info" on multiple tracks and drag and drop into the "artwork" window of the info pane and while it sticks and stays put nothing happens when I press ok only to reopen the info pane ( "get info" on multiple tracks) and it's as if I've done absolutely nothing. My permissions are fine. My music files are a mixed bunch of MP3 and WAV but this isn't a factor as some MP3's have artwork and some don't, as well as my WAV's.
I've searched in and out, high and low but I've just not come up with anything that gets this in order. The problem isn't getting the artwork it's getting Itunes (10.5.1) to attach it to the albums and display it. My Mac OS X is Lion 10.7.2. Can anyone help?
Thanking you before hand.Looks like it does have something to do with WAV format. I got the missing artwork on the MP3's working (by simply dragging and dropping...don't know how that didn't work before) but it's true that the WAV format does not support artwork (as stated several time here in this support community). What threw a brick in all my thinking is that some of my WAV's do have artwork. After some searching though I deduced that the WAV's with artwork showing are albums you can obtain from the itunes store while those that you can't don't show. Even some of the albums that I I copied in WAV that you can obtain from the Itunes store but have minor differences don't show artwork (eg. itunes sells the extended track album while i have the original length album)
I find this rather silly to be honest since there is a work around. I guess the question now is, where is itunes storing the artwork for the WAV files that do show artwork and can I tap into that so it does show for those WAV's missing the artwork? -

I was given this code and found another only slightly different. I've seen them both working but when I try to put it on my page, it doesn't matter what I do, I can't get either to work. Just slap it somewhere on the server and give the path to it in codebase. Like if you have the .class in /foo/bar/Baz.class codebase should be "/foo/bar/" - and code "Baz".

I have been trying to get just the basics working, and have spent almost all day, and now into the night, trying to get it to work....with no logical sucess.....
All I am trying to do, using VB.net 2008 with Crystral Reports 2008, is to disply my report on a web page using the crystalreport viewer in Visual Studio.
I created a report in CR2008, and during the process of creating the report I had to create a connection to the SQL Server 2005 database and set a parameter on my report to show the data for a single record from the database.
The issue is that the connection string I use in CR2008 is NOT the connection string that is to be used in the browser, so the first task I have attempted to do is to set new log in details for the report. I just want to use a trusted connection.
I have searched high and low on the internet, and taken a look at the samples provided on this site.
My code, as it is at the moment for setting the connection for the report at run time is at the end of this email: ( I got this code from the samples on this site)
The problem I have is if the integratedsecurity set to true(as I need it) then the myconnectioninfo.servername and database name are totally ignored. I have changed them to be just randon characters, which should result in the report not being able to connect, yet the report still works fine.
No errors are generated at all, so its very confusing. I know the code is being executed via breakpoints and stepping through the code, but it would seem that it makes no difference.
What am I doing wrong here.....

Couple of things:
1) Please make sure that you are using CR2008 with SP0 at least. Dlls versions should be 12.0.2000.0 and File version 12.0.1100.0.
2) Please make sure that the destination database can be accessed from that machine. You can create a UDL file or a new report hitting the target database to see if we can see data into it.
3) Please make sure that we are not changing the schema of the report.

I purchased a 1TB External HDD a few days ago, and after reformatting and trying over and over only to keep seeing the "Calculating Changes" bar, I decided to return the HDD thinking it was broken somehow.
Now I have a 2TB external HDD, I have formatted it as journaled, checked its permissions, and it is still stuck on "calculating changes" and I'm so frustrated I'm about to throw my Mac out my window. -_-;;
I have almost no space left on my 250GB drive, so I want to back up my HDD and do a complete reinstall of OSX and then transfer some files onto my external drive.
I have tried all the tricks found from doing research for this problem for hours, and nothing works.

That very well could be the source of your problems. When free space on the boot drive gets too low, performance begins to lag, and if it gets low enough, your machine can start doing strange things, crashing and even become impossible to start up.

As Pondini says, what you appear to want to do is extremely unsafe. You should not be storing originals on the backup drive. Just because they are on the backup drive does not mean they are backed up; they are not, if there's no copy anywhere else. Further, it's not a good idea to use a backup drive for everyday tasks (other than backup).
If replacing your internal drive with a larger one is not an option, you need to get another external that can hold the "overflow", and back up both that and the internal onto the 2 TB drive. Also note that having only one backup is only a bit safer than having none at all... you really ought to have a minimum of two completely separate backups, made with two different backup programs. Please help! I use my apple tv only to view photos on my tv from my macbook pro every few months - it has always been slightly unreliable and usually takes some fiddling to get working but today nothing is working!! The message on the tv screen from apple tv is that I need to turn on home sharing on my computer but it IS ON!! I have tried turning it off and on again, I have tried turning everything off and restarting but nothing is working today :-( and I have friends coming round for a slideshow in half an hour :-(

I have uninstalled both adobe and mozilla. I have the crash reports contantly. I play facebook games and it mainly happens in farmville, which is where i spend most of my time.
I am just at the end of my rope here. The computer shops here do not support firefox and I would hate to pay and it still not be fixed.

Can I uninstall TimeMachine and reinstall it to get it to work properly?
I have used a Lacie Stark 1Tb USB drive as a TimeMachine backup drive for a few years with no problem.
The I attempted to set up a WD MyBookLive NAS drive as a wireless backup drive (without success, even with professional help and trawling the internet and Apple forums, so I gave up on that), and when I deleted the WD settings etc as a backup drive, I now find the Lacie also does not work, despite going back to standard TimeMachine backup settings.
Can TimeMachine be uninstalled and reinstalled to get it back to factory settings? It seems to be a default program.Thank you for the info regarding being unable to uninstall TM without reinstalling OSX - I suspected as much.
With regard to TM not supporting backing up to a NAS unless it is Time Capsule, someone should tell WD because an entire section of their user manual, and some standard WD MBL settings, are all about how to back up to a WD MBL using TM. Couldn't get personal hotspot to work
I tried the personal hotspot tonight for the first time (it is supported on my carrier - AU in Japan) but I couldn't get it to work.
The restaurant I was in had wifi that my iPhone automatically connected to. I think that was one issue. For the personal hotspot to work, doe the iPhone need to be connected to the Internet over LTE or 3G?
My personal computer could not connect to that same restaurant wifi because it was a member's only wifi for AU cell phone users.
If I turned off wifi to force my iPhone to be connected via LTE but then I got a message saying wifi needed to be turned on to use the personal hotspot feature.
So I turned wifi on again, but my iPhone's wifi did not appear in the personal computer's list of networks to connect to.
Anyway... how would one get this to work? I think I wanted my iPhone connected via LTE, wifi on but NOT connecting to that AU wifi. Is that right? I didn't see how to get the iPhone to NOT connect to the wifi if wifi was on.

dougThe problem was that the network settings needed to be reset. After that it worked properly which is like this:
When I entered the restaurant (or at home) the iPhone 5 connected to the known wifi network. That's fine.
When I turn on personal hotspot, the wifi mark disappears and you see the carrier name and connectivity in its place. In my case it said "KDDI LTE".
At this time the wifi network name appears just fine in the personal computer's list of hotspots and you can select it, enter the password and connect.
When you turn off the hotspot, if you were connected to wifi then the wifi mark re-appears.
Anyway, I just tried it from home. I did a speedtest on my iMac tethered by wifi to my iPhone 5's personal hotspot. Not too bad - download 7.23 Mbps and upload 6.70 Mbps.

Mutt and msmtp - I just can't get mutt to send
Hello all, I have been battling with this for some time, I hope you can help.
I have been running arch for several years now and thought I might start using mutt. I have installed the version from the AUR with the side bar patch (version 1.5.21) and have it retrieving my email from an email server that I run.
I initially tried to use mutt's new in built SNMP functionality but couldn't get it to work with my server. My server uses TLS/SSL plain text auth but is listening on a non standard port.

I have confirmed the path to msmpt and have confirmed it is getting passed to mutt ok by using the "set: sendmail" command.
If I try sending in mutt it errors out with an SSL error but this error never seems to change regardless of what I do to the msmtprc, in fact if I delete the password field in the msmtprs mutt doesn't even ask for the password (I have tried it with and without passwords in the msmptrc - no change. The precise error message when trying to send from mutt that shows down the bottom of the terminal is
SSL failed: error:140770FC:SSL routines:SSL23_GET_SERVER_HELLO:unknown protocol
This would explain thing but, if I send a test email direct from the CLI using msmtp eg

it sends OK and asks me for the password when I send as well.
I'm at my wits end and have spent numerous hours o it in an effort to get it working. There must be something simple I am missing. Anyone's help is appreciated.Good evening all.

I cannot get iWeb to work properly
I am trying to create a blog using iWeb. However, I can only create a homepage (to the left, there's a red dot and I have managed to name to homepage). Here comes the problem. I am not getting any further. It is impossibly to do the first step which is add a page. "New website" and "New page" are impossible to click on since they are light grey and not even an option to click on. I have been trying over a dozen times to get a blog started but no luck so far. What is wrong? I have a mac. account. I don't get any window up with pre-made designs to choose from... nothing!

maan84Good tips! I also couldn't get iWeb to work (I knew that months ago just messing with it I had totally screwed it up and never fixed it). The time came yesterday when I decided I really wanted to use it and was stuck with everything grayed out and couldn't do a thing.
I tried all of the tips posted by Kabing. Tricking it with iphoto didn't cut it. I had to resort to the clean install. I trashed everything iWeb related and used the recovery disks to reinstall only iWeb. It worked like a charm and iWeb is back in action.

Why can't I get actions to work? BAFFLED
Hi, I'm a graphic designer, really not up to speed in the web world. I made myself an idiosyncratic little website using edge animate, learning from the built it lessons (I would appreciate any feedback concerning as I'm stumbling around here, if anyone can be bothered )
I wanted to add an email link to the end of it, also, some kind of 'skip to the end' feature that appears from the beginning, and eventually a link to a portfolio site. But I can't get ANY actions to work.
However, when I make a new file, I can do all these things. I can draw a rectangle, and make it clickable so that it jumps to the end, or opens an external site. It does this as expected, when I 'preview in browser'. But my main animation that I've spent hours mucking around with, does nothing. Mouse clicks do absolutely nothing...
So, I'm baffled, and any help would be appreciated greatly.
Here's my site, its a simple html thing with the edge animation embedded. I'd never offer these services for a client, but I thought I might be able to cobble something together for myself. As I said, any feedback would be welcome, as I'm stumbling around a bit. Ok a lot.

Though it didn't work, I'm not sure it has much to do with WHY I couldn't get actions to work in the first place, as nothing else I tried, very simple things like a link to an external webpage worked either. Yet they did when I attempted it with a new animate project. Not sure.
