E4200 - SIP ports blocked to/from Linksys SPA2102 VoIP ATA

The E4200 seems to block UDP ports to/from a Linksys SPA2102 ATA VoIP adapter. I tried enabling SIP ALG and still lost dial tone by morning. I tried looking at the Admin logs to see which inbound / outbound ports are being blocked but the log functions on this router only seems to display outbound information with no specifics as to what ports or protocols are being blocked by the E4200.
Does anyone on this forum know what configurations to change on the E4200 to allow the transparent operation of the SPA2102 VoIP ATA behind it?
Any hope Cisco will fix the log functions to display useable and meaningful information needed to setup Application specific configurations?

BEFSR41 fed from SPA2102 VoIP Phone Adapter with Router

urrently, a broadband cable modem is connected to the input of a new BEFSR41 4-port router. The router feeds 4 computers (a newer "primary" PC, and 3 secondary "old goats" that I use to print online grocery coupons). The 4 PC's are networked to share a common printer, a single directory on the "primary" PC, and using a 4-port KVM switch - I switch a single keyboard and mouse to whichever PC that I am using at the time.
I want to purchase a Linksys SPA2102 VoIP Phone Adapter with Router and integrate it into my existing system (noted above). This is probably a no-brainier for some, but I am new to routers and VoIP and that is why I am posting here, before buying the SPA2102.
According to the SPA2102 instruction manual that I downloaded from the Cisco website, there are two RJ45 connectors, one YELLOW and the other BLUE with the following typical connection configurations:
YELLOW . . . Connect one end of an Ethernet network cable (included) to the ETHERNET port of the Phone Adapter. Connect the other end to the Ethernet port of your PC.
BLUE . . . Connect one end of a different Ethernet network cable to the INTERNET port of the Phone Adapter. Connect the other end to your cable/DSL modem.
What I would like to do is, hopefully, simple and effective. I want to connect my cable modem to the SPA2102's BLUE connector, and from its YELLOW connector connect to the BEFSR41's input. Will this work, ensuring both the BEFSR41 and SPA2102 function properly?

if you have access to the device and it is not remotely provisioned by the VOIP company. try to change the registration expires to a 24 hour time period as well as well as the Resync Periodic: in the provisioning tab to 24 hours as well.

SPA3102 Non-standard SIP port in dial plan

Hi, a VoIP provider uses port 5068 instead of standard 5060. I tried to use it in the dial plan of SPA3102, but failed. Using another provider that uses standard 5060 port I've narrowed down the problem to the following:
This one works:
(7495x.<:@sipnet.ru;usr="xxx";pwd="xxx";nat="yes">)
Adding a SIP port prevents it from working: (7495x.<:@sipnet.ru:5060;usr="xxx";pwd="xxx";nat="yes">)
Can anyone give any clues how to specify a port in the dial plan?

Carrier grade nat - static port block allocation.

Is it possible to configure nat (cgn) on ASR 1k to permit the same private address always get the same port block allocation from the same public address? With that You dont need nat logging.

Port blocked prevents app from working

Dear all,
Although I don't even have ipfilters support compiled into my kernel, external attempts to connect to my tcp port 4662 fail. This happens although (locally) nmap shows it to be open:
# nmap -sT -P0 -p 1-65535 localhost

However, it is impossible to connect from the internet to this port. Eg, I've used
http://www.amule.org/testport.php?tcpport=4662
and it always answers that the port is inacessible.
Do you have any idea why this port might not be accessible on my machine? I am a residential cable customer, so I'm not behind a firewall.

Actually a cable modem, acts as a router, as long as it has DHCP service in it, and im pretty sure its in NAT mode (so if you connect a switch to it, you can access internet from multiple PCs)...
Arch has no port blocking per default that im aware of.

Also, as you see with nmap the port is open in your computer, but you cant reach it from internet because when you are behind a NAT you have to forward that port in the router/cablemodem/dslmodem to your PC IP and port. This was what i was talking in my first post. (Im quite sure about the cablemodem being in NAT mode and causing this problem, but i could be wrong, in my case, this was the problem (though i have DSL)).

Remote management (Linksys spa2102)

I have Linksys spa2102 (phone adapter with router), and the quastion is how to use remote control.
I know that in wan settings I have to enable "Remote Management" and port, I also choose static ip and wrote it in fields.
As I understand "Remote Management" function allows me to connect to linksys remotely from other place, from other internet.
So, now I know ip and port of linksys, but how to connect? Have I done all preparation for this?

E4200 - Can't stream content from direct attched storage

I did not have any issues with the Linksys routers except for:
One major issue I had with Linksys E4200 and E3000 was with regards to content sharing/streaming.
Linksys allows you to attach an external storage to the router and share the content with other computers. However, this product nor the earlier, E3000, didn't allow streaming via TV, bluray or media with DNLA capability.
We could attach a storage to the router then map that in other computer and by providing a username/password you could access the content.
These TV's and blurays do not have the ability of providing a username/password to the router to be recognized. Which your tech support missed to understand and instead advised me to open up a port on TV! (WHY?). Unfortunately, your tech support couldn't get this part and suggested to install the Samsung AllShare software on the External drive! Which I explained over the phone, that NAS/external storage doesn't have an OS to host the software.
Therefore, TV/Bluray can't stream content from the attached storage, Although TV/bluray could see the Media attached to router.
That is deal breaker. There should be an option in the router to allow the devices in internal network to be able to stream media from an attached Storage.
I chatted with Linksys support twice with regards to E3000. Both stated as long as I could map the drive on another computer then there were no problem. So what about your statement about upnp "The built-in UPnP AV Media Server enables seamless streaming of video and media files on your attached storage to an Xbox 360, PS3, or other UPnP compatible device"? That is why I didn't bother chatting when I got the E4200.
Just a note that Linksys support test the streaming via Seagate 2TB External drive and a 2G Kingston Traveler USB flash drive (since USB flash was in the list of tested USB storage).
This is matter of some thinking, few hours of developers work, QA and a firmware update.

Got a new E3000, and I updated the firmware to the latest.
Now going to format a supported USB Key,/External drive and attached it to see what will happen.
I will do as follow;
1- Now, today I will reset the device as it was advised previously, meaning holding the reset botton at the end for 30 secound and then wait for it to comeup. Or just unplug it for 30 secound?
2- Will enable the Media Server
3- Specify which folders to be scanned for media, I will leave it as is cause I want the whole USB to be scanned
So When I insert and format the USB with the Router, it will create a directory call public and andother inside this one call public. I will place my file in that folder as follow
\public\public\mymovie.avi
will scan the USB key/flash drive, or should I specify anything? please let me know I am noob in that scanning part

IPhone tethering to get around port blocking

Hello all. My company/institution blocks imap port 993 so that email is not stored locally on company computers. (I find this unreasonable but it is their choice). However, sometimes I bring my laptop from home and wish to access my mail using Mac Mail. I can do so using my iPhone as a modem, however the sweet solution would be:
- use company network for all requests except imap
- use the iphone when accessing imap and other blocked ports
This way i would not chew up my monthly data usage on the iphone, but be able to access blocked ports. Is there a good solution to do this other than manually connecting disconnecting the internet connections i.e. keep both lines open.

b. I would not be using their network for downloading the imap data
c. I would not be downloading the data onto their computers
The policy is there to prevent imap downloading onto company computers, or more specifically through their network. As an unfortunate side-effect it prevents my computer from accessing imap email via the network. I am, however, allowed to hook up my lap top to the network.
I would not be doing anything on their network. This is not a question of how to bypass their port blocking using funky ssh tunnels or the like. The question is how to run two internet connections at the one time (if possible), using one for the bulk of internet traffic and the other for connections disallowed by the first.
The last paragraph of your response was useful and so I thank you for that. The 1st paragraph has nothing to do with what I am asking.

Expressway E Port 443 access from Internet

According to Cisco documentation, 443 is one of the ports that should be opened from Internet towards the Expressway-E IP. If we do that, the web-administration becomes accessible from the internet.

Thanks Manish. Your links talks about general security measures for the VCS-E. However, not specifically about blocking admin web-interface while still allowing Mobile and Remove Access (MRA) to work.
I'm sure there should be a way to allow web management interface only from the internal interface of VCS-E and block this from external interface. (Dual NIC)

How long CSS blocks flow, from source which detected as source DoS?

My application generates except normal flow, flow which CSS treats as DoS attack. Both flows have the same source.
I am afraid that, CSS can block proper flow.

I am not very sure of the lenghth of time that it blocks the flow from the source, if it is considered as a source of DoS attack, but the workaround would be to bypass the cache for that particular source, since you are already aware that it might cause a problem. You could use a bypass rule to do so. You can also use the flow timeout feature with the flow port[1|2|3|4|5|6|7|8|9|10] timeout command to configure a flow timeout value for a TCP or UDP port. I am not very sure if this feature would help in your situation, bypass seems to be a better option.

Installation failure because of SIP port listening issue

Hi,
Another experience to disscuss. When installing OCMS on Windows, when it's close to the end of the installation, it will fail at the step of deploying "aggregation proxy" . The error message would be " The SIP services is not listening on the specified sip port"? But I've also checked the 5060 port is not occupied.
Another body met the same problem? And any experience to share?

There probably is, but it requires that you be able to use punctuation and write in sentences so that we can understand exactly what you want.

I can't believe ... I'm absolutely dumb-founded ... that Apple provides no way to block harassing users. This is NOT related to a wireless/cellular carrier, this is on my wifi-only iPad.

You really have to wonder why the feature of blocking someone is not available. It would be simple to implement. Harrassing text messages, imessages, whatever you want to call them give an abuser a way to contact someone who does not want any contact. This can result in psychological damage, even in some cases suicide. If I am receiving unwanted messages from someone, I don't see why I can't just hit a button that says block. The message then can be diverted to a folder, and if I want to unblock them I should be allowed. There is not one reason I can imagine why I should not have this power. It's ridiculous and unfortunate that in this age of bullying and stalking, we aren't allowed this modicum of control over our privacy. So just when you think you have forgotten someone, or someone you love has finally removed an abusive person from their lives and moved on, all that person has to do is suddenly decide to text you day and night so that you cannot do anything but think about them. Why oh why is there no block messages from this person button as there is in virtually every social networking website? I am flabbergasted. And of course if you have a data plan and someone wants to send you spam, they can actually eat into your data usage against your will. I have to deny my family the ability to send me iMessages by completely disabling it because one nutcase won't leave me alone? Again, where is our control over our privacy? I'm frustrated over this issue, and after seeing what happened to Amanda Todd I don't see why it's not mandatory that this feature be added to every instant messaging platform. Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of your add-ons is causing your problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).

If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all your extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.
You can use "Disable all add-ons" on the ''Safe mode'' start window.
You have to close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (on Mac: "Firefox > Quit")
