E4200v2 Bridge mode, cannot view/ping wireless devices

Hi everyone,
I currently have 2 e4200 wireless routers. The first router is connected to 3 devices via ethernet, and the 4th port is connected to my other e4200v2 which is set as bridge mode. The main router is at one end of the house, the second bridge mode router is at the other end.
My wireless devices are connected to the main e4200v2, along with all the wired clients.
Here is the problem: When wirelessly connected to the 2nd e4200 (the bridged one) I cannot connect to or ping any wireless clients that are connected to the main router. (For example, in my bedroom I am connected with my computer to the 2nd bridged router, and I am trying to ping my other computer that is wireless connected to the main router. I am unable to ping to this computer. When I am conected wirelessIy to the mian router, than I am able to ping the other wireless computer on the same router. Note:I am able to access any hard wired devices to the main router, regardless of which router I am connected to. The issue only appears to be when trying to connect to a wireless device that is connected to a different router than the device I am connecting from.
Both routers are setup on the same subnet mask with firmware Ver.2.1.39.145204
Any suggestions or help is much appreciated, as I've been trying to figure this out for days.
Thanks,
Christopher

I absolutley understand, and I appreciate your time.
I think I may have found the issue. I am not sure why this would affect my situation, but the bridged router had 2 different DNS addresses than the main router. Once I set them all to (8.8.8.8 & 8.8.4.4) it worked!

  • Airport Utility cannot find Apple Wireless Devices, yet I'm online!

I'm trying to enter in my SSID number for my kid's Wii to get it online, and I've tried to run through their tutorial. It tells me to go to Airport Utility and find my base station. Here's the deal, it says it cannot find my wireless device. And yet here I sit, complaining about it online.
How can I be online yet the computer not recognize it?

I finally just hooked up an ethernet connection and it works fine. I think the problem all along was the airport card in my iMac. I currently have my question about my airport card as a reply to another post from someone having a similar issue.

  • E4200v2 Bridge Mode + Guest Access: No DHCP IP's assigned?!

New E4200v2 on 2.0.37.  In "Bridge Mode - DHCP" (i.e. Access Point not router).  Guest Access is enabled & SSID broadcast.  Dhcp Server is disabled, because my main Sonicwall router is providing that for main LAN 192.168.1.0.
PROBLEM = Client PC can see "-guest" SSID fine and associate to it, BUT PC does NOT receive a DHCP IP address (i.e. 192.168.33.x) therefore the browser login page never appears and guest access does not work.
I'm pretty sure that it's all related to DHCP.  I'm assuming that the E4200 is not receiving or sending guest DHCP packets with the client PC.
I seen Guest Access work on the older E4200v1's before so I know what it should look like.
Can anyone suggest any likely reasons why my E4200v2 wouldn't be providing DHCP guest addresses in the 192.168.33.0 subnet?
I only have 24 hrs until I have to deploy 2 new E4200v2's at a remote site, and after that it's going to be really hard to troubleshoot because I won't be at that site.
Thanks in advance for any expert advice!
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

When you're in bridge mode DHCP server option goes away.  And I don't care if DHCP requests are getting to my Sonicwall b/c that device is not going to assign the Linksys Guest IP's... E4200 must do that, apparently in a totally hidden way.
In any case, I don't have any more time to waste on E4200v2's so I'm going to try some E4200v1's which I just happen to have handy, thankfully.
If Bridge Mode + Guest Access works better on the V1's then I'll retreat back to that older more obsolete hardware.
    I'll report back later.
(In meantime if anyone else cares to offer their knowledge experience about this, V2 or V1, I'm all ears)

  • Bridge CS4 cannot view or edit G10 CR2 files

    Hi,
I have searched for this and come up with a few pointers but so far none has worked for me.
    Running PS CS4 11.0.1
Got latest CR 5.5 and it is in the correct place.
    Have run CameraProfiles exe file.
Have deleted and rebuilt icon cache for folder(s) in question.
Do not have this issue with NK2 files from my D70s
    My issue:
When in Bridge I cannot see any image icons for Canon G10 .CR2 file. It is a generic icon. When I right-click on the file I am not offered "edit in CameraRaw".
HOWEVER - When in Lightroom 2.5, I CAN see the actual image files, and if I choose edit in PS, it opens CameraRaw in PS.
What gives? My wife _hates_ lightroom and she just wants to broswe the files in Bridge and then edit them in CR, but can't. It's "my fault" for shooting RAW images rather than JPEGs ;-)
    Please help!
    Thanks in advance

    Hi,
Hmm. I can't find an about CR button or link, but when I open the Camera Raw prefs from the top menu in the plug-in, I can see 5.5.097 in the top bar of the prefs window. I placed the 5.5 8bi file in the file formats sub-folder of the plug-in folder of PS yesterday. I did not have it installed in there at all previously, so no need to remove the old one or overwrite; I just placed it in there.
Also, I'm going mad, the Nikon files are .NEF not NK2 sorry

  • Airport extreme utility cannot find any wireless device.  i have a tmobile web connect manager installed in the same machine.

When I run AIrport utility in my windows xp after connecting the airport base station, it tries to scan but it does not find any device.  But when I connect my TMobile air card anf connect via Wifi it find the airport base but it does not have a feature to name my network and protect with a password.   please help.

    Finally got it working.
I think I was holding the reset button too long, and it wasn't actually resetting.
I would hold it until the light started blinking, hold it a little longer and then let go. As soon as I would let go the light would stop blinking.
However I eventually held it and counted 1 one thousand 2 one thousand etc all the way to 10 and let go when I got to 10. When I did it THAT way the light continued to blink for a bit after I let go...and since then the computer has been able to recognize it.
I think if the light stops blinking the second you release the button the thing hasn't actually reset. Woulda been great to put that in the freakin' manual...

  • Airport Utility cannot find Apple Wireless Devices.

I have had my 1 TB TC for 8 months with an older AX upstairs for the Internet. I have been having many error messages come up about the WDS, but then it would fix it automatically. Then I noticed that it had not had a successful backup since 10/20. I went to go look at the settings and it has not been the same since. The Airport Utility can no longer find the TC or the AX. I have tried every kind of resetting technique I have read online. I have cleared caches and rebuilt all sorts of stuff. I have downloaded several softwares to verify items and clean house. Nothing! I even went to the Apple Store today and purchased a new AX. It found it a few times but it never stuck. The only time it can find the TC is when I plug it directly into the computer. Is it possible the wireless portion of the TC has gone bad or could my iMac wireless have gone out? The lights on both the TC and AX just keep blinking. I have been struggling with this for 7 days now when I come how from work. On the rare occasion it would actual find it it would never make it through the set up process. It either couldn’t join the network or it never restarted after clicking update. Thanks.

I finally just hooked up an ethernet connection and it works fine. I think the problem all along was the airport card in my iMac. I currently have my question about my airport card as a reply to another post from someone having a similar issue.

  • Bridge Mode and Wireless Clients

I have my network up and running fine, but I am now thinking I may need to tweak it a bit. I have an AEBS(n) and an Airport Express both set up with WDS. The Extreme is the base station and the Express is set in WDS Remote and in Bridge mode under the internet tab. The Express is hooked up via a wired ethernet connection to my PS3. Everything works.
I am wondering if in bridge mode, the express accepts wireless clients as well as providing net access to my PS3 over the ethernet cable. Both the extreme and express stations are close enough together that I am not sure which one I am connecting to when I use my laptop wifi.
Thanks in advance for your help.

I am wondering if in bridge mode, the express accepts wireless clients as well as providing net access to my PS3 over the ethernet cable.
Yes if you enable that option.

  • Lose Wireless in Bridge Mode

Here is my setup. Cable modem - Dlink router - (xbox 360 and AEBSN split from Dlink router) - Windows Desktop - macbook connected wirelessly.
Everything was working great until I installed the Dlink router. I need the router where it is so I don't have to run an ethernet cable across my apartment.
My problem is that if I set the AEBSN to "share a public IP" my wireless works on my macook, but the xbox 360 does not connect to the network. If I switch the AESBN to "bridge mode" (which is the way I think it needs to be), I lose my wireless internet. The AEBSN does not report any problems, but webpages simply will not open.
I am far from a network guru, but I have tried messing with some different settings to no avail. I really don't know what else to do. Any help would be greatly appreciated. If you need any other information please let me know.
    Jake

Another little bit of help. When I do switch the AESBN over to bridge mode the xbox 360 again sees my network.
I don't know what to do. I don't know what switching the AESBN to bridge mode would kill my wireless. Everything else works including the Windows desktop which is plugged into the AESBN. My airport is still giving off a signal and my macbook connects, I just can't open up any webpages. It seems strange.
    Thanks again.

  • Problems with Bridge Mode - Please advise.

Folks I have my Time Capsule on our network in bridge mode to use it as a switch and wireless access point. Internet connectivity seems to keep having problems and I am not sure if my setup makes sense:
My Setup: Netgear DGN3500 Router (modem built in) ->Time Capsule (in bridge mode via ethernet) -> Network devices
    Problems:
    - Time Capsule TCP/IP has 169.xxx.xx.xx IP Address using DHCP, subnet is wrong (missing one "255" set) , router address is correct
    - Netgear router sees Time Capsule connected with a proper IP address (192.168.1.xxx) in routing table
    - flashing amber light due to airport not having a valid IP address even though I turned wireless off temporarily for the purposes of trouble shooting. I first just want to get ethernet working correctly
I've reset my router, the Time Capsule all settings, renewed DHCP Lease in Time Capsule...all the standard fanfare.
Any ideas folks or is this thing just done?
Tesserax if you're out there, please respond. I think you've addressed this as well, but I have no solution.

If my router is the DHCP server and my TC is in bridge mode (accepting DHCP info) shouldn't my TC be getting 192.xxx.x.xxx numbers and same subnet mask?
Yes. Have you power cycled the entire network as a troubleshooting step in this regard? If not, power everything down on the entire network, order is not important.
Start your modem first and let it run a moment by itself, then start the next router connected to the modem the same way. Start the Time Capsule the same way. Continue starting devices one a time the same way until the entire network is powered back up.
Additionally, if the TC is in bridge mode, can it serve other devices through the other LAN ports?
Yes. In bridge mode the ethernet ports are acting like a simple ethernet switch. Since they all behave like LAN ports in this configuration, try a different port on the Time Capsule for your connection from the switch to see if that helps.
I suppose I could tell my netgear to only give a range of addresses and the TC another range, but I didn't think I'd have to go through all of that.
I would not recommend that you do this. Even if you are able to avoid IP address conflicts, you'll have a Double NAT error on the network, at best slowing communications down. At worst, devices on one sub net will not be able to communicate with devices on the other sub net.
By the way I forgot to mention one part of my network - the switch (not the LAN one built into my netgear router). There's a 24-port
As a troubleshooting step, try bypassing the switch to see if that makes any difference in the performance of the TC. I like Netgear switches and have used them for years, but I've also had an occasional failure in several of their ethernet switches. It does happen.

  • Share Airport Connection to Ethernet port in BRIDGE mode?

I've been trying to do this for a while now, but I haven't been able.
I have the modem form my ISP hooked to a Airport Express configured in BRIDGE mode, thus creating a wireless network for my home with "live" IPs for all the computers (yes... I know the security risks...).
My G4 (across the room) gets Internet from it's Airport Card and I configured the Share Internet preference pane to "Share the Internet Connection from the Airport to the Ethernet Port", so I can create (...extend, really) a WIRED network from my G4's Ethernet Port.
The thing is that I want this wired network to have also "live" IPs, but the Airport Card always has the "Distribute IP Addresses" (or it's equivalent, from the Airport Admin Setup) activated, so it provides a 192.168.X.X network and I can't find a way to turn that off.
In other words, I want it to acts as a BRIDGE and not as DHCP Server.
    Anyone?
    TIA

I was trying to use IPNetShareX to configure it, but I didn't find a way. I'll keep looking...

  • How to change Cisco EPC2425 into bridge mode

    Hi,
I need help regarding how to chage ECP2425 into bridge mode. I have Wireless NAS drive router which has its own DHCP and NAT service. At the moment my Wireless Timecapsule (NAS Drive) is in bridge mode and connected to EPC2425 with ethernet cable. Everything is fine. But in order to access my timecapsule over the internet, I need to use its (timecapsule)'s NAT service. For this, I need to put EPC2425 which is my first point of access from internet, into bridge mode or atleast disabled its (EPC2425) NAT service. Unfortunately, I am not been able to find NAT or Bridge mode option on EPC2425. I will appreciate if anyone can help me out in this case. I need to change my EPC2425 router into bridge mode or gateway mode.
    Thank you very much

    Hi Azhar,
Thank you for your question.  However, this community is for Cisco Small Business Products and the DPC/EPC2425 is not a Cisco Small Business Product.
Your product is an internet service provider (ISP) supported product.  In other words you need to contact your ISP or technology reseller that you purchased this from to help you with your question.

  • A question about bridge mode

I have a DSL modem which is set to distribute IP addresses. Wireless network is off.
A Time Capsule (connected to DSL modem by Ethernet) which is in bridge mode and creates the wireless network.
Question: should I be able to connect to Internet through a Ethernet connection at the Time Capsule?
    thanks
    Ken

I would first verify that the Time Capsule is setup as a bridge as follows:
Open Macintosh HD > Applications > Utilities > AirPort Utility
    Click Manual Setup
    Click the Internet icon
    Connect Using = Ethernet
Connection Sharing = Off (Bridge Mode)
If all appears to be well, try connecting the ethernet cable from your gateway to one of the other ports on the Time Capsule. In other words, if you have it connected to the WAN port (circle icon) now, connect to one of the other three LAN <-> ports.
Truth be known, when the Time Capsule is setup in bridge mode, all the ports behave the same. It does not matter which you use. If the WAN port has taken a hit from a nearby lightning strike or a power surge, the other 3 ports may still be operational.
    Any luck?

  • Airport utility can't find Apple wireless devices including Time Machine

I have a comcast high speed internet modem that is working, connected by Ethernet to a Time Machine. The Time Machine was working fine until this morning when I tried to reconnect to the internet wirelessly on my PowerBook G4. The Time Machine network wanted a WPA password but wouldn't accept the current password. I then tried to set up Time Capsule in the Time Machine dialog box, but it invoked the airport utility which says it can't find any Apple wireless devices. My Time Machine is now blinking amber at me, and I have tried unplugging, resetting, etc. I am on the internet via hardwire Ethernet connect through the Time Machine to the modem, but cannot get Time Machine to show green and cannot see any wireless devices in airport utility. Any suggestions, please?

set the TC to N+B/G do that using airport Utility. once done power off modem and the router. power on modem first then the router.

  • Request for "Bridge mode" after firmware update

Since updating the firmware on my Extreme the amber light continues to flash, although I appear to have normal internet connection. When I check with the Airport set-up utility I am told that there is a problem and I should select "bridge mode". Can anyone talk me through how to do this?

Given that your AEBS is in series with another router (your Linksys), you should use Airport Utility -> Internet panel to set Connection sharing: Off (Bridge mode). This will accomplish two things:
    1) The annoying yellow LED will turn green.
    2) Any clients wired into the AEBS LAN ports as well as all your wireless clients will now be on the same private LAN segment as all the clients plugged in to the Linsksy. As Martha would say, its a good thing.
You will, of course, still have Internet access but you will gain easy access to othe machines on the wired network for file sharing, Bonjour printers. You can check that this has occurred by displaying your IP address now (Network Preferences -> Airport -> TCP/IP panel vs what you see after you turn on Bridge Mode and reestablish the wireless connection. The IP address numbers will change.
