E4200V2 file corruption issues

Hello,
I am getting file corruption issues when doing a file transfer onto the NAS (hard drive plugged into the router). Files are turned into folders while keeping the same filename. It happens occasionally.
I have firmware: 2.1.39.145204 installed.
Any remedy for this as it is a very serious problem.

The only known solution is to call linksys and ask them for a replacement router model that does not contain the bug. See thread link for details.

  • Compatibility & file corruption issues with latest LibreOffice

Prior to the most recent update of LibreOffice, I had no serious issues exchanging documents with Word users or importing, exporting and editing files in Writer.
The latest version is causing me several headaches. First, exporting to .doc format seems to create documents which Word users cannot open except in Google docs and, if opened in Google docs, they cannot edit them without the formatting disappearing. Exporting to .docx seems to work better but I don't like doing this in case the person has an older version of Word.
Also, my computer crashed while I was editing a document originally imported from Word. When I restarted, LibreOffice successfully recovered the file but the formatting was so screwed up that I had to get a fresh copy of the application form I was completing and start again. (Actually, I could copy and paste text successfully so I wasn't starting again from nothing but it was still pretty annoying as I'd almost finished the application when the crash occurred.)
Was I just unlucky? Or is anybody else seeing issues with the latest version?

    Try again please.
As long as you have a bullet in "choose a folder to save the file in every time"  then it will not save files to a folder or automatically accept incoming files.  The main exception to that is the initiation of a file for the first time on the newer clients.  If it pops up about the new automatic saving you would click on "settings" and toggle it back to you preferred setting.  The only other exception to that are images.  Images sent to you via a mobile are sent to the cloud and will be cached/downloaded into your media folder.  That cannot be avoided.  You can cancel ongoing transfers on your end but not pending transfers.
I made this graphic to better break it down:
If you find your Skype is not listening to your configuration changes beyond what was already mentioned, you can use the following program to reset your Skype configuration.  You will need to exit completely out of Skype beforehand, otherwise the reset will be incomplete.
    http://www.pcdust.com/Downloads/ListFix/ListFix.exe
You can then rerun through the wizard, perform an initial file transfer, reconfigure your settings and those settings should hold.

  • Sync File Corruption with 64-bit Vista/iTunes

I'm getting some file corruption problems when trying to sync my new 16GB iPhone with the latest 64-bit iTunes (7.6.0.29). "yes I have the 64-bit version".
The sync seems to go correctly, but I have yet to be able to play any videos all the way through. Videos purchased from iTunes as well as self encoded files. All said files were working on my 60GB iPod Video with previous versions of iTunes on the same 64-bit Vista machine.
The videos will start playing fine, but will eventually reach a point in the file that was corrupted during transfer, the audio will drop out and the video will distort, then it exits from the video as if it reached the end of the file. No error messages or anything. If I play the file again, it will do the same thing at the exact same spot, so its a problem in the file. Now, if I remove the file and add it back, the file still has the same problem, but in a different location, which means the source is fine, but the copy to the device during the sync is the issue.
To test, I synced the exact same content from my notebook which is 32-bit XP, and zero problems. So I'm currently just using my notebook for syncing at the moment.
Anyone else with 64-bit Vista have a similar issue?

    Hello
I have a couple troubleshooting steps I would like you to try. I myself do not have a 64 bit Vista so I can not test this to confirm if the same issue occurs or not.
    1. Attempt to Sync content using each of the USB Ports. See if all USB Ports pose the same issue with the video. Or if you found when where it does not occur.
    2. Test on a new user on the Vista Machine. If possible take at least one or 2 movies and copy them onto a flash drive or something. And bring them into iTunes on a new user account. You may need to Authorize that user and De-authorize when your done. Does the same issue occur?
    3. If you perform a reboot on the iPhone, Then Sync Data over. Does the same issue occur?
    4. If possible could you restore the iPhone. Then Re-sync and see if same issue occurs.
    5. Is this happening with all videos? or only certain ones? Does the corruption occur at the same time frame every time? If so is it the same time frame for all videos or slightly different?
    6. Perform an Uninstall and Reinstall of iTunes on your system, See if same issue occurs.
Let us know how it goes.

can this happened due to data base or log file corruption, if so how can i check on that to verify the issue
Its not necessary if the issue is with network it would happen every day IMO it basically happens when load on network is high and you transfer log file which is big in size.
As per message database engine was not able to restore log backup and said that you must rebuild log because it did not find out log to be consistent. From here it seems log corruption.
Is it the same log file you restored ? if that is the case since log file was corrupt it would ofcourse give error on wehatever server you restore.
Can you try creating logshipping on new server by taking fresh full and log backup and see if you get issue there as well. I would also say you to raise case with Microsoft and let them tell what is root cause to this problem

  • "FILE CORRUPTED" error message on N 78

My phone is a Nokia N78 and my problem is as followed:
Before updating the firmware from version 12 to version 20, I had google maps installed. After updating over the air, google maps (and also several other apps) got removed. When i tried to download and install google maps again and tried to install it again, it keeps saying "file corrupted". The same goes with other apps i try to download and install. But I have no trouble installing java apps.
I am wondering if anyone knows how to solve this problem?

  • Remote lock & Memory card corrupted issue

Remote lock & Memory card corrupted issue
    Hi Dear Friends,
You might have experienced the "Memory card corrupted issue."
Don't panic! The solution is here!
Your memory card is just 'locked', it isn't 'corrupted'!
For sure, this post would be of great help to you, if:
    • You have enabled the "Remote lock" feature of your Nokia device.
    • You have sent the remote lock message to your device and locked it remotely.
Finding the solution really took me a lot of time. I was inspired by various posts on the Discussion, and decided to find the official notes on the issue. So would like to thank those who shared their tips, and helped us solve this problem.
I'm using E66, (you might use something else), and would refer to E51's and E65's User guide so often.
Of course, I'm not going to explain the instructions, and recommend you to refer to your user guides when needed.
On the contrary, I'm going to explain what may not be mentioned in your user guides.
    Let’s Begin
    What Has Happened:
In short, you attempted to test the feature, your phone was locked, you keyed in the lock code, code was accepted, you used the phone for a while, switched it off, powered it on, you were prompted the Lock code, you keyed in the lock code, code was accepted, you attempted to view some stuff that was on your memory card, you didn't find it, you tried to run a program that was installed on your memory card, the program icon didn't open, you put the memory card in the card reader and connected it to PC, it was not detected, you went to Menu> Tools> Memory card> You saw "Memory card corrupted"!
Don't, don't select the Yes selection key if you got the caution message, "Memory Card corrupted, reformat it?" because your memory card isn't corrupted, it's simply being locked!
But you can't find the unlock memory card command in Menu> Tools> Memory card> Options.
    So? What to DO?
    1. (This step is optional) Disable the Remote lock feature.
(Refer to your user guides) and change Allow Remote Lock> to no.
Then, while the unit is on,
    2. Press the power key briefly, and select Remove memory card.
    3. Remove the memory card from the slot.
    4. Press OK if prompted.
    5. Reinsert the memory card in the slot.
    6. Reopen Menu> Tools> Memory card.
Is your memory card detected? If yes!
    7. Follow tips number 2 & 3 of What to Know section below.
Did you get "Password removed" message?
If no, be careful of the case of the first character.
If you had changed the Remote lock message many times, use the one that was practically sent to the device via text message.
. In case you had set a password on your memory card before, you may also attempt to unlock the locked memory using your own password, not the first eight characters of the remote lock message.
Step seven would make the memory card detectable to the connected card reader to the PC too.
    8. The memory card is detected temporarily, but it is locked and the "memory card corrupted" issue reappears every time you switch off/on the phone, unless you successfully complete step seven.
    What to Know?
    Official User guide Tips:
    1. Remote locking also locks your memory card. (E51 page100)
. Yes, the one mobile phone that sends your device the predefined remote locking message, receives the confirmation message in response, indicating, "Mobile telephone and memory card are locked". But it isn't written in E66's and E65's.
    2. To unlock the memory card, select Menu> Tools> Memory> Options> Remove password, and "enter the remote locking message as the password". (E51 page100)
. Yes, quite clear, but the quoted part ("enter the remote locking message as the password") isn't written on my E66's User guide, and there's a vague precaution on E65's, (refer to number 4).
    3. If the message is longer than 8 characters, the first 8 characters are used as the memory card password. (E51 page100)
. Yes, quite clear good E51, but I don't own you; I have E66 your little sister. I owe my memory card's survival to nice users on the Discussion.
    4. The maximum number of characters allowed is 8. Using more than 8 characters could prevent unlocking the memory card and require reformatting it. If reformatting the memory card is required, all information on the card will be lost. (E65 page28)
. Quite interesting, but it contradicts what good E51 says in number three¡!
. And it contradicts my own experience of the issue (and some other users' on the Discussion) too, since my E66's memory card accepted the 'first eight characters' of the 'ten-character long’ remote lock message that I had previously used to remote lock it.
. The first three tips are quite important and shouldn't have been excluded from E66's and E65's user guides. I don't have the time to download and review all the user guides that support this feature, but at least I read some user manuals and also got the impression (from the posts on the discussion) that there had been not enough information on E66's, E65's, E71's, N96's, and some others.
You may like to do a simple search on Google:
"The first 8 characters are used as the memory card password" site:nokia.com
Since the content of the user guides on the server seem not be searchable for any reason, you won't find any official support result except those of the good users on the Discussions. And the 'Nokia Site Search" brings no result too. (At least on the date of this post).
¡ Terribly sorry for those who have selected Yes to the Reformat caution message. It wasn't your fault. But there's an idiom that says, sleep on it! "Think about it for a while before coming up with a decision".
But now that you have tested the feature and know its solution, don't be afraid, and enable the Remote lock feature again! God forbid, but it may be needed one day!

Dear, I guess, / This article doesn't suit your case. / • You have not enabled the "Remote lock" feature of your Nokia device. / • You have not locked your device remotely. / Because you don't know where the remote lock is and haven't played with its settings. / You need to explain what has happened. / The only thing we get is that your memory card doesn't open. / 1. your phone model, e.g., 5130. / 2. What did you do recently that might have caused this issue? / 3. What methods did you try to unlock it? / Use some of the tips provided above. (except number 1). / Yours

  • File corruption on SDCard when multiple files are being written from WinCE 6.0R3

We currently have file corruption problems which we have been able to reproduce on our system which uses WinCE 6.0R3. We have an SDCard in our system which is mounted as the root FS.  When multiple files are being written to the file system we occasionally
see file corruption with data destined from one file, ending up in another file, or in another location in the same file.  We have already written test SW that we have been able to use to reproduce the problem, and have worked with the SDCard vendor to
check that the memory controller on the card is not the source of the problems.
We know that the data we send to WriteFile() is correct, and that the data which eventually gets sent through the SDCard driver to the SD card is already corrupted.
We believe that the problem is somewhere in the microsoft private sources between the high level filesystem API calls and the low level device calls that get the data onto the HW.
We have confirmed that the cards that get corrupted are all good and this is not a case ofpoor quality flash memory in the cards. The same cards that fail under WinCE 6.0R3 never fail under the same types of testing on Windows, Mac OX, or linux.  We
can hammer the cards with single files writes over and over, but as soon as multiple threads are writing multiple files it is only a matter of time before a corruption occurs.
One of the big problems is that we are using the sqlcompact DB for storing some data and this DB uses a cache which get's flushed on it's own schedule. Often the DB gets corrupted because other files are being written when the DB decides to flush.
So we can reproduce the error (with enough time), and we know that data into the windows CE stack of code is good, but it comes out to the SDcard driver corrupted.  We have tried to minimize writes to the file system, but so far we have not found a
way to make sure only one file can be written at once. Is there a setting or an API call that we can make to force the OS into only allowing one file write at a time, or a way of seeing how the multiple files are managed in the private sources?
    Thanks
    Peter

All QFE's have been applied we are building the image so we have some control.
I have build an image which used the debug DLL's of the FATFS and I have enabled all of the DebugZones.  The problem is still happening. From the timings in the debug logs and the timestamps in the data which corrupts the test file I have been able
to see that the file is corrupted AFTER the write is complete. Or at least that's how it seems.
We finished writing the file and closed the handle. Then more data is written to other files. When we get around to verifying the file it now contains data from the files that were subsequently written.
What I think I need to do is figure out in detail how the two files were "laid down" onto the SDCard.  If the system used the same cluster to write the 2 files then that would explain the issue.

  • How to deal with corruption issue?

A couple of months ago after installing Aperture 2, my Imac started slowing down, every program at some time would hang and could not be forced to quit. The machine had to be turned off (control command power) and left off for several minutes. On restart, things would be fine for 1 to several days. It has been to the shop twice with no improvement and I have talked to the experts a couple of time. This is my first mac so I only have a couple of years experience. From all I have read it would seem I have a corruption issue. I set up a troubleshooting account and the computer acts like it did when it was new on that account. Of course I can use none of my data in this account. Where do I go from here, reset preferences, archive and reformat? Please give me some suggestions and directions on how to do it?
    Thanks,
    oldgrandad

    Hi,
It sounds like it's the same issue I was having. In my experience, as long as important data is backed up, doing an "Erase & Install" from time to time clears out any files/data that is causing your system to run slow (cache files etc). Mine had become painfully slow (I work mainly with images/large files) & was getting a bit frustrating if I was using Aperture & Photoshop etc.
I also use Techtool Pro to defrag & keep my hard drives in good shape.
The extra RAM combined with the "cleanse" definitely made a big improvement & all programmes run extremely well now.

  • File Corruption During Sync Windows 8.1

    Hi
I have recently introduced some Windows 8.1 systems into our environment, a Sony laptop and a non branded custom build, both systems are running Windows 8.1 Pro.
    Our environment is as follows:
    Windows Server 2008 domain
PPTP VPN for laptop users using a Watchguard X515.
Netgear ReadyNAS 2100 for Network Folders.
Folder redirection in place for Documents and Desktop.
Offline files in use. Users have the ability to make shared network files available offline if required.
The first device we had with 8.1 Pro was a Sony laptop for our Marketing Director.  He has manually made a few shared network folders available offline for when he is out of the office and unable to connect to the VPN.
We first noticed an issue a few weeks ago when he came to me telling me that one of his documents were corrupt.  The file was one of the ones he has made available offline.  When he got into the office he ran a manual sync, to put the updates onto
our shared drive.  When he next came to open it, the file was corrupt with the following message:
'Excel cannot open the file 'XXXX XXXX.xlsx' because the file extension is not valid. Verify that the file has not been corrupted and that the file extension matches the format of the file'.
I ran the file through Excel's file repair, which couldn't fix the problem and I tried a few software packages from the internet which said the file was unrecoverable, to no avail.  We tried to recreate the issue but couldn't so we put it down to a one
off.  A few days later, it happened again under the same circumstances.
I put it down to something happening while the laptop was offline, however whilst researching this, the same problem happened on a Windows 8.1 Pro Desktop.  This system never leaves the office, which led to some confusion.
Everywhere I look points to ransomware, however I have run full scans with Sophos and Malwarebytes, and both come back clean, and the issue is only occurring on 8.1 Pro systems, 7 Pro and 8 Pro systems are fine.
The user with the 8.1 Pro desktop created a test spreadsheet for me, and this morning we managed to recreate the problem.  When running a manual sync, the Offline Files comes back with an error, stating that the network copy has been deleted, would you
like to copy the local copy or delete it?  When we copy the local copy to the network, and then try to open it, we get the previous error about file corruption.
Any help would be greatly appreciated as I will have to roll the systems back to Windows 7 if I cant get it resolved, which would be a shame as the laptop is has a flip screen to turn it into a tablet.
    Cheers
    Jim

    Hi,
You can boot the problematic system with clean boot to check if there is any third party software conflicts.
    Steps to clean boot:
    1. Click Start->Run...-> type msconfig and press Enter
    2. Click Services tab and select Hide All Microsoft Services and Disable All third party Services.
    3. Click Startup tab and Disable All startup items
    4. Click OK and choose Restart
    5. After reboot, check whether the problem still occurs

I have two PCs at home.: A laptop running Win-7 64-bit, and a desktop running Win-7 32-bit.  Both are running Office 2010.  Often, but not always, when I save an Excel workbook from one PC onto a shared hard drive on my home network and
then try to open it on the other PC, the other PC displays the "file appears corrupt, would you like Excel to try to recover/repair?" message when I try to open the file.  This also happens sometimes when saving to a thumb-drive and attempting to open
it on a non-connected laptopn running XP and Ofice 2007.  Most times, Excel successfully repairs/recovers the file without issue.  Infrequently, it doesn't repair everything.  Today it failed completely and was unable even to open the file on
another PC.  I've tried various methods to copy the file.  I've experienced the problem when I use Windows Explorer to copy the file from one disk to the other, and also when using both DOS COPY and XCOPY commands.  The issue occurs with
many, but not every Excel file I copy.  And it doesn't happen every time - only sometimes.  It seems to occur more frequently with certain specific files, and and rarely or never happens with specific other files.  It occurs in both directions
(i.e. with both the 64-bit Win-7 machine as the "source" machine and with the 32-bit Win-7 machine as the source machine.)  All of the files I have problems with are .xlsm files.  I have not tried to confirm that it happens only with .xlsm
files.  It doesn't seem to matter if the destination file is being overwritten, or if it is being created from scratch by the copy source.  I'm baffled.  Any suggestions as to why this is happening?  How I can prevent it?  Thanks.

    Hi,
The Office 2010 you used on both computers are 32-bit or 64 bit?
There are some differences between Office 32 bit and 64 bit.

  • File corruption with a very large .ai file

    A little background first:
I am a graphic designer/cartographer with 15+ years of experience. I started making maps in Illustrator with version 6 and have upgraded to every version since.
    My machines:
    2x Mac Pro 8-core 3.0GHz, 16GB RAM, 10.5.7
    Mac Pro quad-core 2.66GHz, 8GB RAM, 10.5.7
    MacBook Pro 2.0GHz, 2GB RAM, 10.5.7
    Illustrator specs:
All machines have CS4 installed as well as Illustrator 10.
The 8-core MPs have the MAPublisher Plug-ins installed
The 4-core and MacBook Pro (MBP) does not have the MAPublisher Plug-ins
The problem I am having can be replicated on each of the machines. The MBP can't handle the file due to RAM. Since this occurs on machines that has MAPublisher installed and a machine that does not, I think we can rule out a plug-in issue.
    File specs:
The original file: version 10, file size (uncompressed, no PDF support, and no font-embedding) is 36.4 MB. There are no raster effects or embedded/placed images. This is strictly a vector file. Artboard Dimensions: 85.288 in x 81.042 in
The original file, converted with CS4, and then saved as a CS4 file: file size (uncompressed, no PDF support, and no font-embedding) is 97.9 MB.
    Brief Description of the problem:
I have tried to convert this file into every version of CS and it has failed every time. With each version, it has resulted in an unusable file for different reasons. CS-CS3, the file was completely unusable because of the opening/saving time. It could take as long as 3 hours to save the file. With CS4, this has been rectified and I once again tried to convert it. Upon re-opening of the 'converted' CS4 native file, the file is 'corrupted'.
The file corruption is not your regular "This file can't be opened because of: X" corruption. The file opens after a save/close just fine. It is just that parts of the file gets destroyed. To save space in this post, I have created a webpage that illustrates the problem that I am having:
    http://newatlas.com/ai_problem/
I have tried everything possible to make the file smaller and it is as slimmed down as I can make it. (Using symbols, styles, etc.) I have also tried to eliminate this as a font problem by replacing every font with an Adobe supplied font, cleared caches, etc. This does not work, so I think we can rule out a font issue. I have also reduced this file to contain no pattern fills, no gradients, and just used simple fills and strokes. All to no avail. I have also tried piecing the file back together into a new document by copying/pasting a layer at a time. Saving, closing and re-opening after each paste cycle. I can get about 95% of it put back together and then it will manifest the problem. The only thing I haven't done is to convert all of the type to outlines. This would not solve my problem since this is a map that I continually work on year after year. I also can't remove objects or cut the overall area of the map because this file is used to produce an atlas book, a wall map and custom boundary wall maps. You can view the entire file at:
    http://okc.cocpub.com
If I do not convert the legacy text, the file saves/closes/re-opens just fine. It just takes a very long time. So this leads me to think that the cause of the problem is the number of editable type objects that this file has. Ever since Adobe changed the Type Engine, I haven't been able to use this file in current versions of Illustrator.
If I could get this file to open, uncorrupted, I could finally get rid of Illustrator 10. Illustrator 10 does not have any problem with this file (and is still faster than CS4 in everything except selecting a lot of objects.)
I am posting this on the forums for any other opinions/ideas from the 'Illustrator Gurus' as a first step. I want to get in contact with someone at Adobe to see if we can address this problem and possibly get it fixed with CS5. I know that this is a user-to-user forum, but I'm not sure who, where and how to contact Adobe for this issue. Maybe someone on these forums can help with that as well.
Thank you for your patience for getting this far in my long post and I would really appreciate any response.
    Dave

    Thanks Wade for responding,
Did you try trashing your Adobe Illustrator CS4 Settings folder in your User's Preferences?
Yes, I've tried deleting prefs. Basically I've tried to rule out any problems with Illustrator as a whole. This issue has also occured on a clean install of OS X and Illustrator on a new User Account with the opening of this file being the first task that Illustrator has. There is no problem with Illustrator per se, but I think it is more of a limitation in Illustrator based on the number of type objects.
You could also try saving it out of 10 as a pdf or as postscript and distilling it then open that in ai or place it id a blank AI document.
Did you try to place instead of opening it?
I haven't tried any of these since the resulting file would be utterly unusable. Basically this would create a 'flat' file with 'broken' strings of text (type on a path especially) and type being uneditable. (Now that I think about it, CS4 does a much better job of opening pdfs without breaking type.) I still think this approach is not really a prudent course of action since, as of now, I can continue to maintain this map in Illy 10.
In my experimentation, the results are as follows:
    1. Opening the file without updating the legacy type, saving the file as a new document, closing and then re-opening results in a file you would expect. Every object is where it is supposed to be. Downfall of this method: I absolutely need the type to be editable, especially the 'Street Type' since this type is actually used to create map indexes.
    2. Opening the file with updating the legacy type, saving the file as a new document, closing and then re-opening results in a file that exhibits the exact behavior that has been posted in the thread-starter. This method results in the 'Bruce Gray' type being the duplicated item.
    3. Opening the file without updating the legacy type, then splitting the file into layer groups and saving as separate files. Then opening the resulting CS4 files, updating the legacy type, copy & pasting (with layer structure) into a new document results in a usable file up to a point. I can get about 95% of it put back together and then the problem manifests. I have thought that it might be a "bad" object on one of the layers but I have ruled that out by: a.) All of the resulting sub-files (files that are portions of the larger) exhibit no problems at all. Usually our PS printers find issues that Illy does not and there is no problem in RIPing the sub-files. b.) If I change the paste order, meaning copying & pasting from the top-most layers to the bottom-most layers, vice-versa, and a completely random paste order, different objects (other than the 'Bruce Gray' type) will be duplicated. I've had one of my park screens, a zip code type object and a school district boundary be the duplicated object.
All of these experiments has lead me to believe that the Illustrator Type Engine is the main facilitor. I just don't think it can handle that many individual point type objects. I know CS4 can handle the number of objects, based on the fact that a legacy type (non-updated) file works.
I am almost entirely sure that Illustrator is working exactly as it is supposed to and that the vast majority of Illy users will never run into this issue. This file is by far the largest file that I work on. I would just like to be able to use an Intel native version of CS to continue maintaining this map.
On a side note: About three years ago, I tried working with this file in Freehand MX. Freehand initially would open the Illy file without a problem. I could work on it but when I would save it as a Freehand file, close it and re-open it, I would get your standard File Corruption. It would partially open, give me a corruption dialog, and open the file as a blank document. I alwa ys knew there was a reason to use Illustrator over Freehand for making maps.

  • Photoshop CS2 file corruption with Leopard 10.5.3

In addition to the network server corruption issue being experienced by everyone with CS3 and OS X 10.5.3, since Wednesday my CS2 version 9 Photoshop files are turned into corrupted, flattened Mexican rug files when I save to my own G5 pre-Intel hard drive. This is specifically happening when I save files to my hard drive and then shut down the computer minutes later. When I restart minutes later, the files saved just prior to shutdown are flattened and corrupted into a very colorful, horizontally banded Mexican rug. Which would be nice if I was designing Mexican rugs, but I'm not. Files saved during the day with no shutdown appear to be okay.
This has happened twice since Wednesday.
I also noticed that when I shut down since the Leopard 10.5.3 update, things won't shut down properly and hang. Can't figure out if this is Photoshop, iTunes (it wouldn't force quit), OS X, or a combination. So I have to shut down the power. Both times when I've done this, it resulted in corrupted files, even though their saves were completed prior to shutdown.
Does anyone know if this is an Apple thing or an Adobe thing? I wonder if this is one of the "issues for which there is no resolution" that Adobe says can happen using CS2 on Leopard.
Anybody have any solutions to this, other than going back to 10.5.2? I've been backing up multiple copies of files at different times of the day in different places. I don't know what else to do.
I have 2.5 GB of RAM, 96 GB of free disk space, NVIDIA GeForce 6800 Ultra DDL.

    Wendell,
If your system is hanging upon shutdown, and files being saved immediately before shutdown are corrupted, then I'd say that the save process is not complete when you are shutting down. Otherwise it makes no sense, as your system does not know that you are going to shut down at that point.
Have you done system maintenance? And immediately before you upgraded to Mac OS X v10.5.x did you boot off the System disc and repair permissions and your drive? And did you boot off Alsoft's DiskWarrior and do the same? And then repeat the permissions repair immediately after the upgrade? Did you reinstall your apps from their original discs? If running maintenance now does not repair the issues AND if your system was behaving properly before, you may want to do an archive and restore to Mac OS X v10.4.11 until Apple has a further fix for Mac OS X v10.5.x.
Note that many of us who have pre-Intel machines that do not require Mac OS X v10.5.x have not upgraded -- Mac OS X v10.4.x is very stable. It is compatible with all CS3 apps (except as noted on the box by Adobe).

    Carla,
I understand your frustration -- you are not alone. But, please post your questions or concerns just once. I've deleted your duplicate post.

Which would be nice if I was designing Mexican rugs, but I'm not. Files saved during the day with no shutdown appear to be okay.
This has happened twice since Wednesday.
Please note that my Photoshop "save" is completed BEFORE I shut down, by several minutes.
Also, in both cases, an application was hanging and wouldn't force quit, which initiated my shutting down. First it was iTunes, then it was Mail. So I can't figure out if this is Photoshop, iTunes (it wouldn't force quit once), OS X, or a combination. But the only thing I can do is shut down the power.
Does anyone know if this is an Apple thing or an Adobe thing? I wonder if this is one of the "issues for which there is no resolution" that Adobe says can happen using CS2 on Leopard. Or part of the Leopard update. Or both cooperating together.
Anybody have any solutions to this, other than going back to 10.5.2 (or Tiger) ? I've been backing up multiple copies of files at different times of the day in different places. I don't know what else to do. Can't work much longer with corruption over my head. Leopard has been one long big headache.
I have 2.5 GB of RAM, 96 GB of free disk space, NVIDIA GeForce 6800 Ultra DDL.

The problem, as I see it, is; "which comes first - the chicken or the egg?" To explain, I am currently operating on an iMac G5, running OS X 10.3.9...... and I have Adobe Creative Suite 2 Preminum installed on my computer. Okay now my question..or rather questions (plural) are; #1 If I upgrade my operating system to OS X 10.4. (Tiger) is Adobe CS2 (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, etc) compatible with OS X 10.4?
    * Okay let's supposed the answer to #1 is; "yes - it's compatible.....CS2 will run fine on OS X 10.4
#2 Next question - Will Adobe CS2 run (without any problems) if I were to upgrade to OS X 10.5 (Leopard)? I believe, from what I have been reading the answer to this is; "No, Adobe CS2 is not compatible with Mac OS X 10.5". Okay let's say that I would then have to plunk the bucks and upgrade to Adobe CS3. On to the next and final question........
#3 Okay if I were to upgrade my OS to OS X 10.5 what do I upgrade first??? The operating system (which is not compatible with Adobe CS2 or the Adobe CS3 suite (which is not compatible with my present OS (OS 10.3.9)??? I have found nothing at either Adobe or Apple web sites which addresses this specific issue. I guess it's just like people - when your systems and software become outdated, the **** with you.
Like I said; Which comes first - the chicken or the egg?
PS: from what I have read on this thread it appears that people really don't read what someone is saying.....you (LoobyDooby) were taking about CS2 and suddenly everyone else stated taking about CS3. It's like tech support........you ask about "apples" and they tell you that "oranges" are not in season.......huh???

  • File corrupt error

    Hello All,
Using Adobe Mobile Packager and a swf files, i created a package for the Symbion Phones which is a self signed .sis file. When i tried installing it to the phone.......it gave an error  "File Corrupt Error" .
    Any guesses for the error?????
Also, the .swf file was created using CS3 suite. I don't know if this is a silly question........but can Adobe Mobile packager create package for swf files created using CS3........or is it only for .....CS4???????
Would appreicate all replies or any kind of help for this issue.
    Thanks and Regards
    H.R.

I don't use adobe mobile packager for this purpose; however there are some basic things to worry about during packaging so that your file won't be corrupted:
1> Did you Entered Correct UID order for an edition (2nd or 3rd Editions)?
2> Did you create .key and .cer files ? (key and certificate) ?
3> Did your Swf run normally in the mobile phone before packaging ?
4> Did you make sure you entered a valid path for your application to be installed during extraction ?
