E4200v2 Frequent Lockups and Reboots

New E4200v2 router, latest 2.0.26 firmware.  Reboots on its own <or> locks up and requires power recycle 3-4 times a day.  More frequent if I attach a USB drive to USB port.   Reset to factory, only using as a router (no USB drive, no printer sharing, no TimeMachine backups, etc.)
Still locks up or reboots 3-4 times a day.
Suggestions?   Return to Amazon?  I need a reliable router that does not reboot so often.

Update, day 6 of regular rebooting. I have tried a combination of things, including just running it as close to factory settings as I can. Latest .26 firmware, no DMZ, no USB drive, no QoS settings, no port-forwarding, no WiFi - connected hard-wired. Only thing connected is a single desktop computer. Still reboots. Tried the 1400 MTU setting - no effect, but 1500 worked fine in the past with a WRT610n. The unit sits by itself on a desk, so no ventilation/heating/mounting issues. Power adapter plugged directly into the wall outlet, so not an issue being part of an outlet strip. So after surfing the Internet, I was sitting here doing nothing, no Internet access, when the flashing Cisco logo light caught my eye. It was rebooting again on its own. I've had it. Back to Amazon you go, I've asked for a replacement. I'll report back in a week or so if the replacement unit does the same thing. Not looking good so far for the v2 version of the E4200.

  • 3GS Frequent freezes and Reboots since 3.1

Since installing 3.1 my iPhone 3GS freezes and reboots several times daily. Sometimes when it freezes I have to do a hard reboot several times before it will actually restart. This was never an issue with my Original iPhone or the 3GS prior to 3.1. Anyone else experiencing these problems??

Well, on one hand I'm glad that it's not just me. From a trouble-shooting perspective that rules out a lot of potential local issues on my end. Most likely it's a 3.1 issue then. Hopefully someone at Apple is paying attention and a software update is on it's way. I've seen other posts now where people have gotten new phones (mine's under warranty still so I could too) but it hasn't solved the issue. Again, not localized to one phone puts the issue squarely in Apple's court.

  • Lockups and reboots

Just bought my 920 from ATT on friday and so far my phone has locked up a few times. The lockup would last about 20 minutes or so. The phone also reboots randomly and actually just rebooted a few minutes ago. Is there a log file or something on these phones that we could look at or send in to nokia?
I have the Black Lumia 920, i bought my wife the white lumia 920 and she hasn't mentioned any issues with it.

I would try to do a hard reset which will completely rewrite the os on your device.
this seems to be helping many of the ATT phones
    to do it:
    turn off your phone
    hold the down volume+camera+power
when it vibrates to start up, only release the power button.
it will then wipe the device to factory.
I have a feeling that it has to do with the ATT software that was put on the devices as the international devices do not seem to be having the same issue.

  • Iphone 4s frequent shutdown and rebooting issue

My iphone 4s goes looses network then restarts or shutdown and start heating up. Requires hardboot to make it functional again. Frequency of restart and shutdown are multiple times a day. Submitted the phone to apple support and they says there is no issue in the phone.  Please help

did you take it to an Apple Store? Also, are you seeing any of the symptoms in this article?  Not sure where you are physically located, but I've had trouble with mine if I leave it in a hot car during the summer...as described in this article

  • Frequent lockups and boot problems with 8-core Nehalem

I just received my new Nehalem Mac Pro and have had tons of crashes already and right now I am staring at a black screen waiting for it to boot. I think it's a problem with the Radeon 4870 drivers since the last crash was while I was using Mudbox RC (I'm an Autodesk beta tester). I originally thought it was the RAM I bought from Crucial but it's a problem with the Apple supplied memory too.

Check the instructions for reset SMC.
Hardware part of testing? with Mac Pro 2009 I'd guess a lot of things could break (and 10.6 will force using 64-bit drivers).
Strip out everything but stock items. AHT should be on the boot drive as well and holding down 'd' will bring it up - if you can get that far along.

  • Z97 GD65 board frequently powers off and reboots.

I bought the Z97-GD65 Gaming motherboard approximately 2 months ago and since then had an issue with my PC running for awhile and then just completely shutting off and rebooting. I reseated my memory cards, checked voltage coming and going and all is fine there. Ive even flashed the bios to the current bios being used on these boards. Still doing it. Its beginning to get more frequent in doing this and its starting to get infuriating. Im about to see about RMA'ing this mobo if something doesn't pan out. Something is causing this mobo to be unstable somewhere. Ive even removed one of my GPUs thinking maybe my PSU is underpowered for a few days and that settled nothing. My set up consists of the following:
    i7 4790K
    16 GB Corsair Vengeance RAM
    2 x Gigabyte G1 Gaming GTX 970 GPUs
    Corsair 750w PSU
    Windows 8
If anyone can help me, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Seems like it could be memory issue also. Download memtest86 and test the RAM. 1st all 4 sticks and then if any problem crops up each sick individually. You also might want to remove CPU and check the socket for bent/damaged pins if memtest checks out OK.
I had a similar issue a few years ago and it was caused by the RAM. Exactly as you describe, no blue screen just all power to PC went off then immediately re-started at random times several times a day.

  • Quite tired of the frequent crashes and lockups now.

I have noticed that itunes loves to scan all of my mpeg and avi files in my media library folder, then just lockup and go into spin.
Any fix other than denying it access to my network video share?
This reminds me of the lockups I had during the "upgrade" where itunes would attempt to normalize all my mp3s. Whats up apple, cant debug anymore?
I have checked google, I am not the only one with this issue, please let someone know who can fix this soon.

Under activity viewer I have noticed that itunes is scanning anywhere from one to three video files at a time and when I run instruments it looks like some of the components are in some kind of wait mode.

  • Constant disconnections and reboots

Over the last couple of weeks, my Homehub 4 seems to be disconnecting and rebooting more frequently than usual.
But today it has been happening constantly.  It will happen during an incoming or outgoing landline call, but more often it is happening when the landline is not in use.  The landline is noticeably and unusually crackly.
I have performed a BT line test but no fault was found, and I am warned of the potential £129 charge if I proceed with an engineer call out.  I have tested via the master socket and experience the same crackle on the landline, and same disconnections/reboots with the Homehub 4.  I have replaced the filters and also tested with my old Homehub 3, but still experience all the same issues.
Connecting via BT Fon, I experience far better speeds than my home connection has been of late.
I will try and copy a couple of pages of the Homehub's Events Log, but am having difficulty remaining online long enough to access the hub's settings.  It makes little sense to me, but I am wonder if someone else could kindly take a look to see if anything stands out as a possible cause of the problem.
    Many thanks.

  • System crash and reboot since Mavericks install

    Hi all
I have recently upgraded my OS to Mavericks, on my early-2008 Macbook Pro, and have experienced system crashes and reboots since then.
The crashes occur when using either of my web browsers, Safari and Chrome, and definitely seems to occur more frequently when using YouTube.  I haven't experienced a crash in any other applications.  I have tried updating Flash, then deleting and re-installing Flash when the upgrade was unsuccessful; not sure if this was relevant or related but I thought I'd give it a try anyway.
    System spec:
Processor  2.6 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
    Memory  4 GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM
Graphics  NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT 512 MB
    Software  OS X 10.9 (13A603)
Currently using less than 50% of the 200GB drive.
Following one of the first crash and reboots, I copied a report to Notes for future reference.  Here is the report:

  • KT6V LSR (601-7021-020) Frequent Lockups

I have written to [email protected] 2x and have yet to hear back so have come here for help.
I have been experiencing frequent unexplained lockups with this motherboard since Jan 24, 2004.  All lights go on the CPU with no mouse or keyboard.  I have the latest drivers for sound card, video and the motherboard has been flashed with v1.3.  There is no error explanation in Event Viewer under Application and System for the cause.
The only error found has to do with DHCP errors:  Your computer has lost the lease to its IP address 192.xxx.x.xxx on the Network Card with network address 000xxxxxx.   When I get this error there is no internet connection.
The DCHP errors occur daily and I cannot seem to resolve it.  I contaced my router mfg and they told me to update the NIC driver but I do not know how to do it.  Ive downloaded the ViaLan65.zip found at your site and unzipped it to a folder.  Can you please give me some assistance to update this driver as there is no exe to do it.
Also there is NO IRQ Conflicts and no devices sharing an IRQ.  The onboard via lan is on its own IRQ 23.  I am stomped as to why I am getting these lockups and how to resolve the DHCP issues.  I have cleaned installed XP Home SP1 (via slipstreaming) and still the lockups persists.  Please HELP!
    My system is as follows:
Computer:  AMD Athlon XP 2500+ 1.84 GHz
    Memory:  512 MB of Ram
    Motherboard Bios:  V1.3
    O/S:  XP Home SP1

    DVD ROM:  Pioneer DVD-106

    Router: Linksys BEFSR41 ver 3 Firmware 1.05.00
Network: 2 computers (XP SP1 and W98 OS)
I would like some help with resolving these issues.
    Thanking you

    for the response Sharp.
I installed the hard drive with xp sp1 (slipstreamed on DVD) recently - June 14.  It replaced a 60GB Quantum Fireball after it experienced corruption with this same motherboard.  The 60GB was reformatted 3x before I replaced it with the Maxtor.  I am hoping to resolve this issue while avoiding another format.  So many formats with different orders in which drivers and software were installed.  In all cases I didnt use the MSI CD.  I will keep in mind the order next time I do a reformat.
Will get back to you on the CD/hard drive info.  Expect for the sound card and hard drive everything was installed when I bought this board, case etc by a small outfit that has very big problem with communication.  I will not rule out anything to resolve this.

  • Bad keyboard causing random lockups and not allowing booting up?

Will a bad keyboard, or keyboard port, make a computer lockup and keep it from rebooting?
I have a slimline s3200n that has been having random lockups.  When I try to reboot it, it gets stuck at the startup screen (the one where you get the F9, F10, etc options).  I can hit F9 for hours and the computer does nothing.  I have to do another hard shutdown and if I wait for a little bit the computer will start back up again.  Will work fine, then randomly lockup and go through the cycle again.
I tried to run the Hardware diagnostic utility but it gave me an error, didnt write down the exact error, but it was a timeout error while gathering hardware information.
I am using the keyboard that came with the computer and I do not have another keyboard to use for a test.

I have this exact same issue, and am wondering what to do. I have a 2.2 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo and am using 10.4.11 as software. I have a Dell monitor. Anyone have any thoughts?

  • New desktop hangs, freezes, and reboots randomly.

Per the "Note Before Posting", here is my data.
Product Name/Number: HP Pavilion HPE-H8-1234 Desktop
    Operating System: Windows 7 64-bit
    Error message: None
Changes made: None. Out-of-the-box failures.  Initial setup.
I just purchased an HP Pavilion HPE-H8-1234 Refubished Desktop (included with a 90 day warranty from HP).  It arrived at my apartment yesterday.  During the initial setup (within 5 minutes of turning on the machine), the computer hung, froze, and then rebooted itself.  I spent much of last night updating the OS via Windows Update and repeatedly had the same problem.  This probably happened 8 or so times over the course of an evening.
Are there any known issues with this computer that can be easily solved?
I think this may be a defective product.
Any information or help on either fixing the issue or returning the desktop would be appreciated.
    Thanks in advance!

Follow-up, in case anyone in the future has similar issues and receives no support on the forums.
After three days of misbehavior, this computer is on its way back to HP.
Upon getting home from work the second day, I found the computer to be in a state where it had tried to reboot itself but could not make it back up.  It was at the initial startup screen with three errors.
PXE-E61: Media test failure, check cable
    PXE-M0F: Exiting PXE ROM
ERROR: No boot disk has been detected or the disk has failed.
Per chat request, they had me run a BIOS-based "DPS Self-test" on the hard drive.  This was comprised of two tests, the first one relatively short (10 minutes or so) and the second one rather long (2 hours).  The test came back as successful.
Next chat service had me use System Recovery to restore the hard drive to the factory state is was in the day before, when I got it.  This succeeded, but shortly thereafter the computer exhibited the same problems.  Random lockups, crashes, and reboots.  Sometimes able to recover back into Windows, sometimes not.
I then emailed HP support, and they asked me to check the cables by removing and replacing them from the hard drive.  They sent me full instructions on how to open the computer, remove, and replace the hard drive.  This did not resolve the problem.
After this, they had me reset the BIOS settings.  This too did not resolve the problem.
Upon reporting these results to HP via email, they instructed me to do the BIOS DPS Self Test and System Recovery.  I had already spent nearly 4 hours the previous night doing these things, but I don't think the email support representative had read the chat logs I'd mentioned.  After informing email support of these things, they agreed I did not need to do this again and began the process of setting up a return for the desktop.
It looks like it will take 3-5 business days for the shipping supplies to arrive, then the time for me to ship the desktop back to them, then another 5-7 business days of repair at HP, then the shipping time thereafter for the desktop to be returned to me.  I therefore estimate the total time between my original purchase of the computer and me receiving a working desktop to be on the order of 1 month. Frustrating indeed, but I guess that's how the cookie crumbles.
Either way, I'm looking forward to having this new computer up and running. It's too bad this one ended up being such a lemon, but once it's working I'm sure I'll be a happy camper.

  • Lumia 620 randomly freezes and reboots

I knew a cheap windows phone is too good to be true. I've been getting random freezes and reboots without any reason at all. This is unacceptable, nokia should address this windows 8 issue afflicting wp 8 phones. Please don't tell be to do a soft or hard reset because we already know it won't fix the problem.

Hi, everyone. I've been having problems with random reboots ever since I bought my Lumia 620 and it was driving me crazy. It freezes up sporadically too, but I think I found a fix for rebooting issues.
When my cousin bought her Lumia 620 I immediately asked her if hers rebooted sporadically as well. She said it hadn't, not once. Then, one time her battery was dying so I gave her mine, and she left me with her battery and on charger while she went home. Anyway, hers started to reboot frequently, whilst mine was behaving ok.
When we replaced the batteries again, mine began rebooting again.
Finally, I checked both our batteries and found out mine was moving around the device more freely than hers. Hers was held firmly in place while mine danced around. Then I tried moderate, yet gentle tap on the side of my device and it rebooted EVERY TIME I tapped it. After I inserted a small, neatly folded piece of paper between the device and the battery, the battery clicked in place tightly and it couldn't move at all. Reboots stopped, no matter how strong I tapped the sides of the device.
This hasn't resolved any freezes, but at least it's not rebooting all the time. So check your battery, maybe it is a hairline thinner or smaller or whatnot from the rest of them and it can move around. A millisecond is enough for it to lose contact, half a millimeter of movement is enough to cause your phone to reboot. Hope this revelation of mine will help someone

  • Macbook pro turns off and reboots randomly

I took it to a computer storre for repair they placed the RAM and charged me 126.00 yet its still happening not as frequently but it's not fixed. Grateful for any help you can give.

    Hello sweetbrandigirl2004,
Based on your post it seems your computer is shutting down at random. That does sound troublesome. After your computer shuts down, do you see any messages or errors displayed? The following article offers some troubleshooting steps you may want to explore:
