  • USB cameras and memory cards slow to be recognized? Simple solution!

For some users, Image Capture is slow to recognize memory cards and cameras connected to their Mac. However, there is a quick and easy solution.
Bluetooth devices seem to keep Image Capture from accessing memory cards and cameras plugged into your Mac.
To alleviate the problem, navigate to System Preferences, click Bluetooth, and select and delete the devices you no longer need. With no Bluetooth phones connected, Image Capture works at a normal speed.

First make sure that no application is using or has open any files on the disk. Then:
Click and drag the disk icon on the desktop to the trash. Wait for the system to recognize the action, and the icon should disappear from the desktop. It is then safe to remove the device.
Alternatively, you can secondary click on the disk icon, and then primary click "Eject (name of disk)". Wait for the icon to disappear off the desktop, and then it is safe to remove the drive.
Here is a detailed help document on the subject.

  • Why is the memory capacity of a digital camera's memory card relevant?

    Hi All,
I'm new to all this . I have a question "Why is the memory capcity of a digital camera's memory card relevant?"
    Thanks
    Maggie

Why is the memory capcity of a digital camera's memory card relevant?
    It is not to Photoshop.
But to the photographer it is extremely relevant.  It determines how many images (influenced by "quality") your camera can hold before running out of room to store pictures. A larger memory capacity for your camera will allow you to take and store more and/or higher quality images.
("Quality" in this case is determined by  image size- the number of pixels making up the image in your camera and image "compression" -  how much JPG formatting will effect your image.)
    (attempted analogy coming... watch out!)
Think of the camera memory card as a linen closet to store down pillows. A small closet you can store 10 pillows on a shelf. Double the size of the closet and you can store 20 down pillows.
You also have the choice to stuff the down pillows in small sacks, allowing you to store even more pillows in the closet. The problem is after cramming the down pillows into the small container, they come out battered and not as nice as they were before storage.
    Linen Closet = Memory Card
    Down Pillows = images
Small sacks to stuff pillows into = JPG compression.
(and to add this this questionable analogy... the better down pillows have more feathers, and take up more room in the linen closet)
    Feathers = pixels

  • CS6 won't upload my camera's memory card.

How do I get my CS6 to recognize and upload photos from my camera's memory card.  I put it into the hole but it won't read it.I

I don't use any of them as my organizer but that's what Zoombrowser is so unless you have something else that you've used before (for photos from a Point  & shoot maybe) download them to Zoombrowser.
EOS Utility is for talking to your camera to make setting changes or for tethered shooting as well as downloading to your computer.
DPP is for rpocessing RAW files & saving your work in jpg files. It doesn't convert the RAW (CR2) file but instead creates a new file using the work you've done. You can re edit the CR2 over & over creating as many jpg's as you want with many different variables to suit your preferances. To the best of my knowledge it doesn't process jpg's.

  • Hidden files on USB and memory cards

When I put my USB or my camera's memory card into my mac and delete files from them, they disappear but haven't actually gone from my memory card/usb. So the space is still taken up by the hidden files. On a PC I can find how to reveal the hidden files and delete them, but I don't know how to do this on a mac.

Don't delete files from your camera cards using your Mac — always erase or format the cards in the camera, using its own menu commands.
What sort of device do you mean by "my USB"?
After trashing any file(s) from any device that is connected to the Mac, you must empty the Trash to regain the space occupied by the file(s). The device must be connected to the Mac when you empty the Trash, because the Trash is an invisible folder that resides on the device, and it can't be emptied if the Mac can't access it.
The reason I recommend not trashing files from your camera cards while they're connected to the Mac is that many cameras become confused when they encounter a Mac Trash folder on a memory card, and will refuse to use the card until it is reformatted in the camera.

  • How to get photos from camera or memory card into new macbook?

how to get photos from camera or memory card into newly announced macbook?  thank you   joanlvh

And to diversify the use of that port, you could get this specialized adapter:

The cost of admission is modest - at $79 - for what all that it does.

  • Transferring photos from camera or memory card causes iPhoto to hang up with the spinning beach ball - why

Transferring photos from camera or memory card causes iPhoto to hang up with the spinning beach ball - why?  This happens only on a 5 year old iMac running 10.6.8.  It is a recent developmemt.  All other machines have no problen with the same card.

I click on the send feedback everytime it pops up with the force quit, so they'er getting it.
That sends a crash report. Its doubtful that these are ever seen by a human being, but more likely datamined. Sending feedback reaches an actual person.
My guess from yourdescription is that the portion of the OS (note, OS, not iPhoto) that manages the importing process is what's crashing.

  • USB ports and memory card slots not working

My Pavilion a6120n desktop has worked brilliantly ever since I purchased it. As of last week the 2 usb ports in the front and the 2 unused usb ports in the back have stopped working. My printer is plugged into one rear port and my wireless mouse is plugged into a second rear port and these work fine.  I generally use a memory stick for data swapping or the card reader slots (which have also stopped working). I no longer see the memory card icons in the "Computer" window. When installing something new the "New Hardware Found" statement pops up but the driver install always fails. I think it is a software issue but there are no usb drivers to download on the HP/support site that I can find. . . so . . . Below is what I have tried so far.Run antivirus software. Full scan & memory scan - no issuesRun malewarebytes full scan - no issues I have tried restarting several times with no success. Restore to several previous restore points = failedRestarting computer in repair mode = failedRun the repair disk that I had made = failedChecked the power management for each usb port to see if the power was routed properly = okRemoved the case cover and carefully inspected the wiring and connectors.finally I tried uninstalling the usb drivers = failed  Upon restarting the computer the last time the startup file must have failed and after several hours of attempting a repair I had to reinstall the Window 7 completely. Still no usb or memory card function. Any help would be appreciated Thanks,MrBob38

For some reason even when you did not add a password to your memory card, sometimes your phone after a factory reset, may ask you for a password for your memory card. There is a way around this. Go to SETTINGS à SECURITY à REMOTE LOCK and add a new codeword for locking your phone eg “lockthis” and put in your lock CODE (default is 12345). When this is done, use your lock codeword “lockthis” as the password for the memory card and you should be able to get into your memory card again. ATTENTION!!!!!! The codeword must have maximum 7 characters!!!! IT REALLY WORKS!!!!! 100%

  • Maps App and memory cards

    Hi,
The MAPS app, is incapable of finding adresses eventhough I copied said adress from the MAPS app onto my adress book. What is the matter with this app???
Also I can't find a way to calculate an itinirary between two destinations other if one of the two is not necessaraly my PRESENT LOCATION. Is there a way to do it? And I never get multiple itiniraries wich is a problem when I know there is construction work on the most obvious itinirary.
Furthermore, an adress or a phone numbre sent by email or text message is not identified by my phone as such so I cannot click on it to go directly to the MAPS app or the automaticaly dial the phone number.

HOW DO I TRANSFER EXCESS DATA FROM MY BBZ10 MEMORY, TO THE MULTIMEDIA MEMORY CARD I ADDED TO MY BBZ10.
NicolasCleroux, I asked above and you've yet to answer... what is this "excess data" you speak of?
Please, scroll up, read and answer that, and then perhaps we can deal with that... What do you consider "excess" data?

IS IT A PROBLEM ON A PC??
For some, Link is a problem on Mac and Windows. I've had some isues with it on my Win7 PC, but it does work after some fixing of issues in my firewall and proxy settings.

WHEN I SAY "IDENTIFY" I MEAN THAT THE ADRESS OR PHONE NUMBER CANNOT BE CLICKED ON TO ACCESS DIRECTLY THE RELEVANT APP ( PHONE OR MAPS)
Make sure those phone numbers are formatted properly to be recognized as a phone number or address.
For instance, where I am, a phone number formatted as xxx-xxx-xxxx work and is "hot-linked" to dial the number.
Similarly, with an address: 123 Street, city, St, Zip" will create a hot-linked address openable in BlackBerry Maps.
I know in my own Address Book's contacts, i have several linked addresses which open in maps, and you will see them in a highlighted blue text if they are recognized as such.
So, please give an example of how your phone numbers and addresses are formatted?

  • Facebook and memory card

    hello people,...
Facebook app was never my favorite on my BB. It's sluggish, slow, and it simply sucks. Until today,... I've removed my memory card from handheld and voila. Facebook worked GREAT! really fast and as I, and everybody else expect! But the problem is,... When I put back memory card, it gets sluggish again. So my question is, how do I force Facebook app to use only internal memory?
    Info:
    BB Curve 8520
BB OS v5.0.0.610 (I know it's not official, but every OS prior was showing exact problem with Facebook app)
    Carrier: VIPnet
    memory card: Default 2GB
I've deleted Facebook app couple of times, deleted cache, removed battery and still same problem with facebook.

By removing your memory card you did force FB to work off internal memory only. To do this dynamically you can go to settings > options > memory > media card support > OFF and see if that works as well.

  • Lost videos after pushing "command z" and memory card already removed.

I recently copied some videos from an SD Card using the built in card reader on my 2009 iMac. After copying the videos to a folder on the computer, I removed the memory card and formated/erased it in the camera. Upon returning to my computer (memory card still removed) I accidently pressed "command z" with the current Finder window still active and the videos disapeared. I was wondering if the videos are lost forever, or is there some location that they could still be found at? Thanks

  • E 72 - hard reset and memory card

    Hi,
I am having some problems with the E 72 which seem like a virus, and i wanted to know what the options for reformatting are. Should i do a return to factory setting, or a hard reset?
Second, how do i make sure that the memory card is virus free as well? If i format it, how would i recover any pre-installed software that came with the phone?
    Thanks

If you are worried only about the preinstalled SW that came with the phone, then they will remain after the hard reset. You will loose your data, configuration and all installed apps.
