E5, i can't use any email account.
for expamle, i have one gmail. every time, i try to enter in email, the phone aks me to creat it, and again and again.
help me.

Ahhh after some research and trail and error.. (hours of it)... I got a work around!!! I tried it for gmail and it works fine now!! Below is what you do:-
On inital stage please type dont type correct yahoo, gmail, hotmail or other email ID "
for example if ur id is ****@hotmail.com that type ****@abc.com insted of hotmail. and correct it on second stage.
Go to Mail on your phone - Options - Settings - scroll down to email - Options - New Mailbox
Click - start and then NO to allow connections (that stops Nokia Messaging swinging into control)
Now enter your hotmail address except do not put @hotmail.com at the end. Put @abc.com
e..g. if you email is *****@hotmail.com then enter mailto:*****@abc.com
Now enter your password - press OK
Now you will get an OPTION to define settings and it will allow you to manually set the POP3 or IMAP
Now put in your correct email id and passwd while setting the IMAP. for gmail use the following >
Enter 'imap.gmail.com' as the incoming mail server, Select 'SSL/TLS' for your security (ports) and define your port as '993.'
Enter 'smtp.gmail.com' as the outgoing mail server,Select 'StartTLS' for your security (ports) and define your port as '587.'
Save it... and you will say Wow!!! that worked!!!

It appears that iChat allows you to add other other email accounts other than AOL or MobileMe but can you chat using these accounts and can you screen share etc with non MobileMe users?

The answer is yes but your question is wrong.
The AIM page for Registration now allows you to use any Email ID as a Screen Name.
AIM has long done this for the Apple IDs of [email protected] and the MobileMe type email IDs of [email protected]
They have also done it for other ISPs in the past as well
More recently I have had someone test with me having used a Hotmail ID in the AIM Registration process.
Jabber IDs look like email IDs and in the case of the GoogleTalk option they can be.
As long as the Screen Name works in one of your Buddy lists it will be valid And if they are an iChat user with iChat 4 or above then they will be able to Screen Share.
NOTES:
Screen Sharing in iChat uses a Random port so any router or modem that routes need to be able to use UPnP or Port Mapping Protocol to open the ports or it will not work.

Can't add ANY email accounts to iPhone

I can't add any email accounts to my iPhone's mail application. (it used to work just fine) I have tried to enter my account information using my yahoo, gmail, and exchange and none work. I enter my account information and after it verifies it takes me to "account" which is only a blank screen. I have tried entering account information both directly on the mail app and under settings.
Anyone having a similar problem? anyone have any ideas of how to fix or what's wrong?

Have you tried Resetting All Settings? To do so, navigate to Settings > General > Reset.
If that doesn't work, restoring the iPhone and setting it up as a new phone (instead of restoring from backup) should ultimately resolve the issue.

How do I strop thunderbird from using any email account other than my default one?

I have a number of different email accounts all set up separately but identities are not set as they were too confusing for this autistic brain.
How do I stop it choosing ANY other address in the "from" and "reply to" of replies or forwarded emails.

You most likely don't need identities, at least not as Thunderbird uses the term.
Most of us would reply to an email address by replying "from" the address it was sent "to". I wouldn't reply to business emails using my private email address, nor would I reply to private email messages using my work email address. Email software generally goes out of its way to maintain this consistency. So you want to override this built-in behaviour. ;-)
You might find these add-ons useful:
Folder Accounts lets you associate an email address ("identity" in the broader sense) with each folder, so this can force the use of a preferred address.
Correct Identity reads through the message you're writing and picks out a relevant "identity" to use as "from:", depending on whom you are writing to. This helps me avoid using my personal email address to reply to business emails and vice versa. It can also flash up a warning if you try to use an "unapproved" email address in the "from:" field.
I have used Folder Accounts to override the default identity for one or two accounts which are used in a very specific context, such as reporting spam, but it has clashed with newsgroups. Of course, this may not matter to you.
Of the two, Folder Account may suit you best if you don't use Thunderbird to read newsgroups.

Can't use comcast email account with Firefox. Why and how to fix it?

I cannot open my comcast.net email accounts. I can see the Inbox Preview page but I can open, send a new email, etc.. It started Monday evening November 11, 2011. It happened a couple of times a few weeks ago then resolved.

Download and install the 10.6.8 Combo Update over your current installation of 10.6.8.It should repair whatever is corrupted. The Mac App Store does not belong in the Utilities folder, Mac OS X expects it to be in the Apps folder where it is installed..

I can't add any email account to iphone

I used to have yahoo and gmail, suddenly, both disappeared from my mail, and when I try to add either directly from the mail or going to settings to add account, it will go blank and nothing happened. And yes, I've restored my iphone but to no avail. Please help me or I will throw my phone out the window. By the way, this is not the 3G, it's the old one. and

Problem is, in the "other", there doesn't appear an option like I used to have before this problem appeared that allows me to choose IMAP or POP, it doesn't have ADVANCED option. TS1398 bought a mini and also have an IPAD2 have used ITunes to download all programs to the mini but have NOT BEEN ABLE TO have the connection to the Internet and CAN NOT get any emails. I NEED HELP!!!!!!!

I thought when I bought a MINI that all I'd need to do is sync up with ITunes to get all apps and setting to the Mini. I was wrong as I can not connnect to the internet and can not get any emails. Have tried just about all suggestions under support but need to reach out to actual users who may have run into similar prblem. I must be missing something as I have to believe that Apple would make it as simple/easy as possible to connect to the interne. I still have my internet connect with my Ipad2.
appreciate any help on this one as MY WIFE is driving me crazy as she wants to use the internet with HER MINI!!!

Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)
Or this - Delete the account in Mail and then set it up again. Settings->Mail, Contacts, Calendars -> Accounts Tap on the Account, then on the red button that says Remove Account.

I'm assuming that you only use Yahoo mail on the web and not through a mail client, such as Outlook or Thunderbird?
Also, make sure all of your Yahoo emails are going directly to the Yahoo inbox and not to sub folders or junk folders. Only the inbox will be delivered to your BlackBerry.

You need to ask Apple to reset your security questions; ways of contacting them include phoning AppleCare and asking for the Account Security team, clicking here and picking a method for your country, and filling out and submitting this form.
They wouldn't be security questions if they could be bypassed without Apple verifying your identity.

Can I use iOS email to view my GroupWise account?

I have a new MacBook Pro, and would like to use iOS email to work within that account, but it isn't working!!!!!

I also use my me account right now on the cloud, but for discussions I don't want feedback on that account. I only try to use that email account for special purposes. I have other email accounds for thinks like discussion feedback, notifications, etc. Why can't I use a different email box for such? Apple is getting too over secure if you ask me. I have two names now and two accounts each with different passwords to remember for the itunes store because I forgot my password one day and had to start a new account. Now I get notices from both accounts and I am not allowed to merge them. So when an app upgrade comes along, it tells me what the name of that app was under and I have to use the password for that account which I no longer use for the app store. I don't understand why I couldn't just change the password for the original account like most places allow? but I guess although related that is another topic. All I would like to do here is use a different email account for discussion feedback. Is that possible? if not, Why not? This is over control!

The problem is that you try to merge different Apple IDs (your old account and your me.com account) which is not possible. Apple will not let you do that.

I am having trouble with my wife's new iPhone 5s. She can receive her telus email but can not send any email what did I do wrong in setting up her account on her iPhone? I tried to just copy the info from her old iPhone.

The sending of email is accomplished via the SMTP server. Take a moment to get back into Settings>Mail, contacts, calendars and select the account. Go to the SMTP server and check to make sure that username and password are entered in all of the appropriate places. If you cannot get it to work after trying to just change those settings, remove the account from the phone and recreate it. When recreating, make sure you enter the username and password in every location, even if the phone says optional. Make sure you have the settings from either the email provider or from the other device. Make sure that SSL is on or off as necessary.

Not sure what you mean. Deleting a POP account only deletes the messages stored in the account’s mailboxes, not any messages stored in custom “On My Mac” mailboxes, if that’s what you mean. It’s not that Mail goes after your mail trying to delete as much as it can. It’s just that if a mail account is deleted, then its mailboxes cannot exist anymore...
That said, instead of deleting the account right away, you can just disable it (i.e. turn OFF Preferences > Accounts > Advanced > Enable this account), leave it that way for some time, and delete it only after making sure you didn’t miss anything while the account was disabled.
BTW, if you back up your data, and the ~/Library/Mail folder in particular, you won’t have to worry about accidentally losing anything as a result of doing something like that...
Note: For those not familiarized with the ~/ notation, it refers to the user’s home folder. That is, ~/Library is the Library folder within the user’s home folder, i.e. /Users/username/Library.
