I have a problem after upgrading to 7.36.0.0
The left selection key has stopped working after the upgrade.
e.g. If I am in gallery->images and want to send an image via bluetooth, I would normally press the left selection key which has "options". Now it does not work !!! :-( So I have no way of sending a photo or ringtone or song to anyone.
Similarly in "Notes" i cannot create a NEW note as the "Options" menu wont come up after pressing the left selection key.
This is exactly the same problem as reported by someone for their E61 in the following thread.

I want update to 7.13.0.0 but when update step is 3/3 (Preparing installation) waiting very long time.
There is a problem?

Alright, got it figured out! After searching for "Preparing installation" I found some more posts with the same problem, and apparently, as long as you can still access the menu and the software is only preparing it's no problem to disconnect the phone.
I disconnected, rebooted Windows, and then redid the whole procedure, and the "preparing"-part went over to the actual installation (during which the phone apparently powers down) within 30 seconds. Installation then took about 10 mins for me.

E50 RM-171 No firmware update available

I have a Nokia E50 without camera, model RM-171, with code 0536145. The latest software version for this model is 06.41.3.0, which has numerous bugs.
One bug which is extremely annoying in combination with my carkit is the one that causes the phone to reset itself upon an incoming call. Oher RM-171's with different codes have update v 07.05.0.0 and do not have this problem.
Nokia, when can we expect an update?

Connect Nokia E50 to OVI Suite on Win7 via Bluetoo...

Hello,
i want to establish a connection with OVI Suite to my E50 phone.
The wizard is recognising the phone but will get stuck after some minutes while checking the connection.
The windows hardware manager is only showing the standard bluetooth modem and several unknown devices (see screenshot).
Please advise me what to do.
OS: Windows 7 Pro
Phone: Nokia E50
Software: OVI Suite (newest update from E50 page)

- Go to your %TEMP% folder, which can be found by entering %TEMP% to the Windows Explorer's address bar. Then search debug_log_date.txt in this folder, where date is the current date (or choose the latest one) and attach also this file in the error reporting form. The exact %TEMP% folder paths are:

WSUS updates/computers with errors

I have WSUS setup and of late i have noticed several computer updates have errors,this means that the updates are not being installed..
I cant figure why this could be the case..please see the attached screenshot.Kindly advise.

Yes i can share.The queer thing is that this failure to install started in one machine only.. and now the other computers ,some are getting the same error message.

Cable Connection
For quite a long time, I have used Communications Centre to send and receive texts from my laptop via E50. since the software updated to 7.1.26.0, this is not longer possible and while all other parts of PC suite work [contacts, calendar, etc] for a reson unknown, I won't download texts.
I have completely uninstalled all Nokia software using PC Suit Cleaner and downloaded everything afresh and no difference.
Any and all assistance greatly appreciated.

I had the same problem, messages would not refresh at all.
1. I uninstalled all plugins using the app manager on my phone.
(There are several apps, if your not sure which are from pc suite: view details> if provider is Nokia, chances are its pc suite related so uninstall it.
The most important one that absolutely needs to be uninstalled is called, SMS DS plugin.)
2. Disconnect phone and using add/remove programs > uninstall pc suite > option to uninstall/repair
3. Clicked repair, let it finish.
4. Re-pair phone with pc suite, let it reinstall plugins on phone

My server doesn't have WSUS, but it thinks that it does, and all the workstations do too.

Hi all,
I attempted to install WSUS a while back. I was prompted to reboot to complete the role install, and so I did, and saw the role was not there. The install had failed somewhere. I decided not bother with WSUS.
However, the server still thinks that WSUS is installed, and the workstations all think the server has it (Even though there isn't any GPO deployed to say so). Because of this, I am unable to install Windows Updates on any of the machines, or on
the server.
Server: Windows Server 2012 R2
Clients: Windows 8.1 Pro

from the sample logfile (from one of your earlier posts):
we can see that this machine has contacted WU.com, and is encountering transient communication errors, retrying, then giving up.
We can also see that range-requests are being attempted. There were some issues identified with certain content-cache/accelerators/proxies, which affected range-requests via HTTP 1.1 (from memory).
We can also see 8024402c errors (NAME_NOT_RESOLVED), during connection retry.
We can see that a search-for-updates began, contacted the webservice, and that detect-sessions seemed fine. Problem seems to be getting the update packages downloaded successfully.
Are any of the client machines able to be used on a direct internet connection, for WindowsUpdate.com, as a test?

Firmware spoiled my phone

Hello,
I was updating my E50 through Nokia PCsuit & Nokia updates. It downloaded 66MB file and started installing the updates (asking for 15 min time) suddenly stop responding and phone got hanged. After restarting. it stopped responding...
Only lights are on nothing. else...
please help me out of this problem. This is happening second time with me.

First remove the battery for 5 minutes, reconnect the battery, connect it to your pc and run the updater again. Leave it for a few minutes and it should go into recovery mode.
If not disconnect it and try a hard reset.
Hard reset:
1. Switch off the phone.
2. Hold down the following three buttons: Green (the call answer button), * button, and '3' button.
3. While holding these buttons, press the power button and switch on the phone.
4. Release when the phone shows the nokia logo or shows other signs of life like the language selection screen.
If that fails to fix it try the advice offered in this post by drummer27:

If that still fails then the last option is to take the phone to a nokia care point.

My E50-2 firmware updating forbidden?

Got E50 with:

Model=E50-2
Code=0541669
and firmware:
V 06.27.1.0

Nokia E50
The page http://europe.nokia.com/A4577224 tells the latest version is 07.13.0.0
But Nokia Software Updater(V1.4.0en) could not proceed to updating, it just stopped at Step 2/3 with the info. on the left:

Firmware version
Current: 6.27.1.0
And the message on the right of screen:
No sofware updates available for your phone
Please try again later.
Does anybody know what's going on? I hope it's not just my own problem :-(

Error update Nokia E50-2

Hello from Russia. Update version (7.13.0.0), software (hereafter PA) of the Nokia E50 (without camera) - error occurred - printskrin -. Phone is not included - stopped working. When you upgrade lost contact phone - a computer (because of cable included). Once a phone is disconnected battery. Please help with my further actions, and explain what happened, the cause of the error? Which way out of the current problems can be, whether in the same way pereobnovit over the phone? By the way, the computer does not find a phone and phone not included.

re-flash - hold the following buttons *, 3 (number button) and talk/green key. turn on the phone and do not release those buttons until you see the Nokia boot up screen.
these are the only things you can do. The last option you would execute with the phone turned off. press all three buttons and only release those buttons upon seeing a nokia handshake screen or nokia boot up screen. if these options do not work, the only thing to do is to take your phone to the nearest Nokia Care Point in your area.

Problem after E50 firmware update (07.36.0.0)

Hi all.
I just did a firmware update on my E50, restored the backup I made, but I don't find my contacts. When I connect to Nokia PC Suite, click on Contacs, I can see al my contacts there, but I don't find them in the phone.
Any suggestions? Need help with this issue.

Italian support site does not list the application; can I use English version on my E50 (italian language is set on the phone and on my PC)?

New time zone changes have being published by IANA (2014j) but the Oracle Timezone Updater Tool is only updated to 2014i.
Does anybody here know when the Timezone Updater Tool will be updated to the latest version?
Or is there a way to use the current tool with the new IANA files by passing it as an option when executing the tool?
Hmmm - how would you expect an older tool version to apply NEW changes that the older tool can't possibly know about?
Have you determined that you actually need the changes in version j? Are those changes for YOUR locale?

Are you currently using the i version?
If you need the changes in the new version you either need to wait until the download page has the new version available or contact Oracle support (via MOS) to see if it is available for support customers.

Nokia E50 Software Update

Hi,
I have Nokia E50, Can any one help me to update my phone software. Also in our country some mobile operators are offering Cell Info Display, i have switch on that display feature but it is not constant it is appearing and disappearing. is this due to phone software issue?

If there is a software update for your phone, go to the support site for your phone, and download the Nokia Software Update tool. Connect your phone to the computer via a cable and open the software update tool. Be ABSOLUTELY SURE nothing interrupts this process as it could damage your phone. If there is a software update available for your phone, it'll give you the option to download and upgrade your phone. Be sure to backup your phone before you start, as you'll lose your data.
The Cell Info service is network dependent. Its possible there are issues with your provider that are causing the breaks in service.
