E50 - Calling on its own...
Hi,
I have a problem with a E50 that makes its own calls.
The last incident was that user left it at his desk, phone locked and while he was away the phone had made a "ghost" call to someone in the directory. This has happened before as well while carrying the phone in the pocket etc. The person who is called is always the same it seems.
Has anyone else experienced this? And is there a solution?
Phone is updated with latest FW...
then, you might want to go to the nearest nokia care point...

How can I prevent my iPhone from making calls on its own?
I often put my iPhone in my pocket. Sometimes I then discover that it is making calls on its own.
How can I prevent this?
Thanks.Turn on auto lock. I have never had my iPhone once do anything without me doing it.

Last night, I saw my iPhone on the table in front of me and twice it made phone calls on its own. I just watched it make the outgoing call as it sat in front of me. Should I think that it has a virus? What should I do about it?
Also, it's been a little quirky lately: slow to respond to key pad touching and making it impossible to delete Apps?
Should I try wiping it and restoring it to factory settings?
Thank you.
BenIt isn't a virus.
I would try the Restore from backup first and if that does not help try a Restore as a new iPhone. -
My phone made an outgoing call on its own anyone else with this issue?
My iphone made an outgoing call somehow on its own which is impossible since i have password protected and my phone was on me at the time. There was no way i pocket dialed or someone else called because it was in my hand. Doesn't make sense! Has this happend to anyone else?
Odd problem, but there are all kinds of problems with the wall chargers. If you want a new one, make an appointment with your local Genius Bar at the apple store, bring in your misfunctioning one, and they will swap it out for a new one. They do this routinely for charging bricks, sync cords, and headphones.

Skype sending calls on its own
Starting with my change from a note 2 to a note 4, Skype has begun randomly sending calls to my contacts. When I caught it doing this there was a faint buzz/ring much quieter than normal ringing and more the volume of things such as the keyboard tap noise.
The call attempts last about as long as a normal call attempt but then are marked as failed.
It does not bring up the 'call' screen it's all entirely in the background and I only know it attempted a call afterwards when it shows a 'call failed' message on that person's text history.
Since I only use Skype for texting is there a way to disable calling? Or any ideas what's causing it to attempt to call people?
I have reinstalled the app, changed my password, and disabled non-contact calling and messaging already.
Any help would be appreciated as the random calls are really irking my friends. I know it's nit me bumping the button during messaging because that brings up the call screen as normal.I too have experienced this. It is downright scary. It happened while I was on another call using the actual phone. The call ended screen came up and the log showed call failed.

So my iPhone had a broken screen and back for a while, which may have something to do with this. I mean like missing peices. I realize this leads to corrosion and I may have a broken iPhone but this is a really strange problem. It's always shutting off on its own, sometimes in my pocket while locked and sometimes randomly while in use. For example the other day this started happening everytime I started safari. This happens all the time, I usually just restart it and it works for a while. Sometimes after shutting off a few times in a row, after restarting it will show the wrong time, screws up phone calls and says that it cannot locate the gmail server, or something to that extent (won't load emails). The phone calls are weird, I can't receive any. Any calls that are made from the phone, go through on the other side and ring for them, but won't ring or make a connection on my side, also I can't end the call when this happens, it responds to me pressing end by fading the screen to that graytone color that it does before ending usually but stays on that screen whenever you go back to it, only disappearing after reseting. Texts work, not in iMessage, and internet seems to work. The only thing that fixes this condition is a restore. The iphone has been turning itself off over the last 3 months and its been getting progressively worse. Recently its been pretty bad, and then the phone started to do all that weird stuff I've been talking about. That started about 3 weeks ago and has happened 4 times, the last two times relatively close together. This is really annoying and I can't afford to replace it. Do I have to live with it? What can I try? Should I maybe replace the battery? I took the panel off to look at it and the plastic around it was pitted possibly from being really hot.
Please don't respond with useless comments. I've already addressed the fact that my screen was broken a few months ago. My phone may or may not be broken beyond repair either way, as I said before I can't afford a new phone. It's a strange problem because from what I can tell no one else has posted the same problem anywhere I can find. Don't be a dickhole.

When I try to open a gradebook program called powerschool, I get a message that Java is not deteced, but my computer indicates that it has Java. I can't download any version of Java because I get a message that Apple has its own version of java. My computer indicates that no new software updates are needed.

I can't facetime with anyone, it starts the call but ends it immediately on its own. Any suggestions on what I am doing wrong?
Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It won’t solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of this test is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account. Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your documents or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this behavior; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault in OS X 10.7 or later, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The "Guest User" login created by "Find My Mac" is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing. -
For some reason my external hard drive no longer shows up as its own folder, instead it shares a folder named volumes with my Macs HD, whats the best way to move it.?
I have the same problem. Let me know when you find a fix.

Your graphic card is damaged. This could be related to extensions, but the kernel panic gives you the message that your graphic card has failed.
You can only make a backup of your files with Time Machine or Disk Utility's Restore feature, and take the iMac to an Apple Store or reseller. Your computer has got the graphic card soldered into the logic board, so this will be a very expensive repair -
Computer restarts on its own, help!
Hey all, perhaps this isn't the right place in the forums, but I just don't know where else to go. My computer just in the past 24hours has been restarting on its own saying 'Your computer was restarted because of problems' or something along those lines. From what I've gathered online this may indicate a kernal panic, but I just don't understand on those other sites how you go about solving this problem or even what it means fully. Is there something I can do on my own, or do I have to bring it into the mac store? Please help me if you can, I am not very tech savvy but I will try to do my best to save my mac. It is a new macbook pro retina display and I just don't understand what could have happend. If it helps I am going to copy the specs below, and thank you anyone who takes the time to help me with this problem (sry i know there is a LOT of text below):

Reinstalling Lion/Mountain Lion Without Erasing the Drive
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the main menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion: Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion and click on the Continue button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless. -
HP ENVY 4500 creates its own SSID on my WiFi network causing problems and confusion
I am finding this problem hard to articulate clearly and I can’t find any information on the internet about why my new HP Envy 4500 printer has set itself up with its own SSID on my WiFi network, but here goes :
I bought an HP Envy 4500 all in one printer for my daughter’s room in university, which has a WiFi network with WPA security. First I tried to add this printer to the room WiFi using the printer menu, but it gave an error stating that the WPA passkey format was incorrect, when in fact it was the correct password. So instead I had to install the printer using the installation options accessed from the HP website using her laptop.
This has worked, but it has also set the printer up with its own independent SSID called ‘HP-Setup-45-ENVY 4500 Series’. This separate SSID for the printer is causing some problems and does not seem to have any useful purpose. For example sometimes documents randomly will not print from the laptop, but if you then disconnect the laptop from the room SSID and reconnect it to the printer SSID, the documents will then print, but then you have to reconnect to the room's SSID when done. This is confusing and of course completely unwanted behaviour.
Does anyone know why this new SSID called ‘HP-Setup-45-ENVY 4500 Series’ has been set up for the printer please? Can I get rid of it so that printer is simply a device connected on the WiFi network in the room please?
I hope this makes sense as this a very frustrating issue for something that should be completely straightforward.
Thanks.

I used to be in control of whether or not Firefox would load for any particular session on my computer. Now, probably after some update I got in the recent past, Firefox has a mind of its own. It opens every time I turn on my computer. There are times I don't want to use any browser, including Firefox. For example, sometimes I just want to look at my mail. Don't have time for anything else, but my computer won't let me shut it down. Why? Firefox sneaked in. So I have to find it and close it before I can shut down the computer.
HELP!!! How can I stop Firefox from automatically loading?
Thanks.Welcome to Apple Support Communities
First, when you are going to turn off or restart your Mac, you will see a box called "Reopen windows when logging back in" in the shutdown or restart window. Untick this box and see if the App Store opens automatically in the next startup.
If it starts, open System Preferences > Users and Groups > Login Items, and see if the App Store shows up. If so, remove it from this list -
My iPhone 4S Decides to Roam on its Own
My job requires that I cross the border between Kuwait & Saudi Arabia 5 days a week.
My SIM is from a carrier in Kuwait named Zain.
I have went into Settings -> Carrier, and switched "Automatic" off and selected Zain as my network.
This works fine until a couple of days ago.
I crossed the border as usual going to work and the signal was lost as expected and now I see "No Service" on the top left corner of my screen.
Around 1:30pm of that same day, while I was working on my iPhone while connected to a Wi-Fi network at work, I noticed that the phone was actually connected to a carrier in Saudi Arabia.
I double checked the carrier settings again just to be sure if the setting is bugged or for some odd reason, "Automatic" was set to on.
To my surprise, it was still off!
Why is my iPhone 4S roaming on its own? I can easily prevent such roaming charges.
I need my iPhone to be on and connected to Wi-Fi but I don't need its voice services while I'm across the border.
Anyone else facing this? Share your thoughts please.
Thanks. Thanks Noel but I tend to disagree.
You see, I previously owned an iPhone 3GS and an iPhone 4. All worked perfectly. Upon switching off automatic selection of a carrier and only selecting my home network, those 2 phones stayed with No Service until they sniff a signal from my home network provider.
That's not the case with iPhone 4S.
My iPhone 4S today for example went out of service at about 7:45am after I crossed the border.
at about 1:30pm, it decided on its own to connect to a roaming network. It shouldn't. Because I'm selecting my carrier manually. So worst case scenario, it should at least prompt for availability of other carriers without connecting to them.
Last but not least, roaming charges in my case will be charged against my number once I receive or make a phone call or SMS. I'd like to avoid that. I did tests that clearly showed saving over $100 a month of roaming charges when I do so. Yes, our carrier is a vampire
