E50/PC Suite: no pairing possible

Hi there,
my E50 is not recognised anymore by the PC Suite application. When I stuck in the USB cable in the phone, the message that the phone is connected appears but the USB icon in the phone display does not appear. Furthermore I receive the information from my computer that a faulty USB equipment has been detected.
What could be the cause of the problem? Any ideas?
I've already installed the new software of the PC Suite but the problem still remains.
Thanks
T.

Thomas - Thanks for answering my questions, but I actually meant them more in a rhetorical sense to see where diagnostics would point us towards !
However, it sounds as if everything should be working - but then again you didn't need me to tell you that !
I'm just re-reading this thread and was wondering if you could clarify the exact problem you're experiencing as it sounds like you're having more than one :
-> Your first post says that your E50 isn't being recognised by PC Suite - is this still happening ? Does it happen when you do a particular action (i.e. is it recreatable or intermittent ?)
-> In another one of your posts you said "Perfect! After installing the new software the sync works again." - could you define what you mean by sync please ? Do you mean a synchronisation in terms of calendar, contacts etc. or do you mean a backup of the phone to PC ?
-> When you state "After trying to make a backup of the data on the mobile, the same problem occured again" do you mean you were trying to back your phone data up to the memory card in your phone or to your PC ? What was the same problem ? Do you mean your phone not being recognised when you plug it into your USB port ?
Also - when doing any of these actions above and in your original post, does the phone ever crash or become unresponsive ?
I know these questions might sound confrontational, but they're not meant as such - I'm just trying to get a handle of exactly what's happening and why ..
I would think that there's pretty much two things you can try from here :
1) As per my most recent post, you could try downloading PC Suite onto another PC that you have available and try syncing - this would eliminate your PC + any Windows updates from the equation - if it then works we've localised the problem down to an issue with your PC.
In answer to your question, it's feasible that it may be a Windows update that has caused the problem, but unlikely as there would be a much larger number of users reporting the same issue on the forums.
1) Since a new version of PC Suite has been released (6.83 release 14.1), you could try installing this version to see whether it makes a difference (IF YOU DO THIS PLEASE FOLLOW THE NEW MORE COMPREHENSIVE INSTRUCTIONS GIVEN BELOW).
I'm going to be talking you through some quite complex PC stuff, so if you don't feel confident doing this, then I would advise you to take independent advice before going ahead with this (although I have done this many times in various forms and it is very painless !) Depending on your technical knowledge however you may want to take a backup of your PC first (just in case !)
As long as you follow the instructions below and have installed the Nokia applications in the default locations and don't delete anything I don't specifically mention below then you should be OK and won't need to backup any of your files on your PC as they will be reinstalled.
1) Before you do anything make sure you have administrator rights to your PC before continuing the actions below
2) Create a folder on your desktop and name it PCSuite683
3) Visit http://www.nokia.com/pcsuite and follow the wizard to download the latest release for your phone and save the download into the above folder
4) Download the PC Suite Cleaner application from :
http://europe.nokia.com/A4144912
and save it in the above folder too.
5) Goto Windows Control Panel->Add/Remove Programs and uninstall Nokia PC Suite
6) Reboot your PC once the uninstallation has completed
7) Go back to Control Panel and see if you have any other Nokia applications installed relating to your mobile phone - if you do - uninstall them too (INCLUDING THE CABLE DRIVERS)
8) Double click on My Computer, and browse to the following folder : C:\Program Files - From here you will find a folder called Nokia - delete it. BE VERY CAREFUL DOING THIS - I AM ASSUMING THAT YOU HAVE A HOME PC AND AM ONLY RUNNING THE FOLLOWING NOKIA APPS : PC SUITE, LIFEBLOG AND SOFTWARE UPDATER WHICH YOU SHOULD HAVE JUST UNINSTALLED AS ABOVE. CAVEAT EMPTOR !
Just so you have a comparison, on my computer I have the following folders in the C:\Program Files\Nokia directory (you will not have all of these so don't worry if you don't see all of them) :
-> Connectivity Cable Driver
-> Nokia Lifeblog
-> Nokia MTP
-> Nokia PC Suite 6
-> Nokia Software Launcher
-> Nokia Software Updater
So as a comparison in my case if I uninstalled all these applications from Control Panel, then it'd be safe to delete the C:\Program Files\Nokia folder.
9) Reboot again
10) Once rebooted, goto your Start Menu and select Run and type "regedit" without the quotes. THIS IS AN ADVANCED UTILITY WHICH IF INCORRECTLY USED HAS THE CAPABILITY TO STOP YOUR COMPUTER FROM STARTING CORRECTLY - THEREFORE BE VERY VERY CAREFUL WHEN DOING THE FOLLOWING. You will be presented with a program with two panes - one on the left and one on the right.
In the left hand pane, navigate to :
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Nokia
Right click on Nokia and delete it.
Also in the left hand pane, navigate to :
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Nokia
and right click on this and also delete it.
If you get any errors when deleting :
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Nokia
Just acknowledge them and carry on with the instructions below - do not continually try to delete this particular key.
You should be able to delete :
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Nokia
without ANY problems.
Close regedit.
11) Reboot again
12) Run the PC Suite cleaner program that you saved above on your desktop
13) Reboot again
14) Install PC Suite that you saved above
15) Yep you guessed it - reboot one more time
16) Connect your phone to your PC
17) See if you can backup, sync etc. without problems
Once again - apologies for the very long post ! I hope that you understand what I'm trying to get at and why.
Essentially before solving the issue we need to localise where the problem is happening (e.g. is it a phone, PC, hardware or software issue ?) and then home in on it and fix it.
If you are able to sync/backup successfully on another PC, then we can safely say the USB cable is OK and the phone is OK. If not, then we have taken the PC out of the equation - and it'd be either a USB cable of phone issue .. and so on ..
Hope this helps ! - please let me know how you get on.Message Edited by edwardquan on 03-May-200711:36 PM

  • HA-SSO pairing possible between LDPE and non LDPE wlc?

    Hi all.
I was to day to finalise the migration of a customer network to HA-SSO enabled central controllers.
However on one site this failed. Unfortunately the ordering or delivery had been mismatched in a recent additional controller ordered with HA-SSO option.
The Primary original controller is non LDPE standard controller. By some unknown reason the new controller is LDPE enabled.
In the documentation it is stated: HA Pairing is possible only between same type of hardware and software version. Mismatch may result in Controllers entering Maintenance mode.
My question is very simple - will HA-SSO fail or not when these different codes and licensed functionalty types?
If so - how can we correct the LDPE issue; can TAC relicense or somehow "fix" this error?
Thankful for anything that can help me in the right direction.
    Sincere Regards

    Thanks Scott....

  • Updating to Mountain Lion has caused me to lose Adobe Creative Suite - is it possible to upgrade?

I have recently had to upgrade to mountain lion for my new iPhone 5, however this has caused me to loose my much loved Adobe Creative Suite. As soon the upgrade was completed my photoshop, illustrator and acrobat icons had a white symbol over them that looks like a no entry sign. When I click on it a pop up window appears that says 'You can't open the application because PowerPC applications are not supported. It is an old version of creative suite (the first I think) but I can't afford to buy a new one. Does anyone know whether its possible to upgrade or a solution?

It must be a very old version of Adobe. I run CS4 and my son runs CS5 with no issues and I believe CS3 can run under ML although I have not seen it as such, only read it here.
Upgrading is expensive but well worth it if you use Adobe regularly. You can always run Snow Leopard on another partition or external drive and run your old AdobeCS within that if you want.

  • E50, PC Suite: Problems in Calendar & Contacts

Hai. Installed newest Nokia PC Suite 7.1.51.0 on my E50
When i am in contacts i can't see all phone numbers in detailed section. For e. g.  have one contact with two numbers of same type. Only one is displayed.
In main view of the PC Suite i can see the to do's  typed in through phone. But in calendar view or in list view not. F5 is done before. And from PC Suite i can't generate a new ToDo.

    Hey, don't give up yet...
I think that IMediaControl2 is one interface from PC Suite's ServiceLayer.exe component. Somehow installation can not register ServiceLayer.exe in your PC....
It is quite difficult to know what is going wrong...It would be nice to get some traces from your PC. (Then I can compare traces with my PC and find out what may cause this problem).
If you can take the logs, do this:
    1. Go to http://www.sysinternals.com/Utilities/Filemon.html and download Filemon (it is end of the page).
    2. Start FileMon.exe and click 'Options', 'Filter/Highlight..' and set string: *servicelayer*;regsvr*;*services.exe*;*service~1*;*ConnectionManager* to 'Include' option.
    3. Go to http://www.sysinternals.com/Utilities/Regmon.html and download Regmon (it is end of the page).
    4. Start RegMon.exe and click 'Options', 'Filter/Highlight..' and set string: *servicelayer*;regsvr*;*services.exe*;*service~1*;*ConnectionManager* to 'Include' option.
    5. Click Start, Run, give command:
    "C:\Program Files\Common Files\PCSuite\Services\ServiceLayer.exe" /service
    and then OK
    7. After that wait 20 seconds and open Nokia Connection Manager.
    8. If same error again, save logs and attach those log files to your response message....

  • Is a Public/Private Key Pair possible in SAP?

I have a web service that I would like to run as part of a nightly script. I currently use username/password authentication, but it is not acceptable to have them hard coded, due to Sarbanes-Oxley rules. SAP's site claims to support authentication with x.509 certificates, but is unclear on the implementation details. How could I go about setting up and using a public/private key pair in SAP?

Not really a portal question, and maybe you'll get a better result in a security forum...
However, briefly, yes, the AS Java supports X509 certificates as an authentication mechansm. You need to use Visual Admin to generate a server side certificate, then you need the client side to register its own X509 certificate and then in the Java user admin you need to associate the client certificate with a known user. Now when the client executes the web service call it can pass the certificate and the AS Java will back translate the certificate to a real username.

    Hi Marco,
Sorry for the late reply. Don't have access to Internet afterhours for a fortnight. Anyway, back to topic.
A couple of questions: I supposed that PC Suite can only detect your N70, the first time the connection was set up. (Or is it that only the first time after your laptop/PC reboots?)
Can you also try this? On the second attempt to connect:
    1. Right click on PC Suite tray icon, select "Synchronise".
    2. Click "Select Phone".
    3. Click "Connection...". Ensure that bluetooth connection(s) is/are selected. (For my LifeBook, the "Bluetooth (Toshiba)" will go unchecked whenever I turned off the Wireless switch to off.) Click "Close".
    4. Click "Refresh". This may take a while, typically under a minute and sometimes a couple of retries.
    These are my ritual steps to get bluetooth connection to my N80. ^_^;
    Let us know. Cheers.

  • Spotcolors consistency in Creative Suite...possible by default?

    Hi.
I´m a 3D-artist and make a lot of product visualisation. It´s of course very important that I end up with the right colors when I´m delivering images to my client. Yesterday I´ve got a call from a client that was a little bit confused that the colors where so far away from the pantone colors used in the artwork. I then realized that the same PMS looked very different in illustrator vs photoshop. You can see the result in the attached screenshoot from photoshop.
    Then I found this:
"In Illustrator CS2 and later, you can match the PANTONE swatches to Photoshop CS and later versions of the swatches by selecting the "Use LAB Values specified by the book manufacturer" option in the Spot Colors option dialog box. To access the Spot Colors dialog box, select Spot Colors from the Swatches panel menu."
This really solved my problem. But I cant set it as default, so I have to change the settings in "spotcolor.." every document I open. My question is if there´s anyway to set this as default. I´ve read that you can follow the procedure quoted before in a "no document state" to set it as default, but the option is greyed out when I don´t have a document open so that does´nt work for me.
    Hope you understand.
    Thanks,
    Roger

    Thanks.
I dont think it´s possible for me to contact all my clients I´m afraid, so I´m stuck with changing every single document. I have learned alot about spotcolors, but there seem to be no such feature as what I´m looking for. I will follow the advise to put it up on the wishlist for future updates.
    Thanks,
    Roger

  • Multiple pairing possible

With the Apple Wireless Keyboard will it allow multiple pairings with bluetooth computers. ie. does it use a first in first out model for connections or is it a bind and use one at a time only?
    Thanks for your help

I've got the same question. I'm using a KVM switch and I'd like to be able to use my bluetooth mouse and keyboard on both Macs.
It looks as though the devices require a separate passkey on each computer for each device, and even the empty pairing on the mouse still means I have to re-pair when I switch displays. Is there any way around this?

  • TS3048 Keyboard wont pair, possible paired to other mac, but don't have that mac to unpaid

bought this keyboard but it wont pair. its not found when searching on my mac... I think it may still be paired to the another mac as i bought this item 2nd hand.... how can i get round this???

    Hello:
I have read that people with similar problems have taken the device out of range of the computer that is not pairing correctly.  Then they have turned the device off.  They then restarted the computer and turned the KB or mouse back on.  The setup utility proceeded to pair correctly.
I have no clue if what I read was luck or actually works.  Cannot hurt to try it, however.

  • How to use Nokia N8 with PC Suite 7.1.30.9 (appare...

The N8 is supposed to be used with OVI Suite, but if possible, I'd also like to be able to use it with PC Suite.  The latest version of PC Suite won't allow this (not compatible) but an older version seems to accept the N8.
I saw in a discussion at Nokia Beta Labs that I can also install a late version of PC Suite. It's 32.2 megs in size.
(The newer versions of PC Suite install on my computer, but tell me to use OVI Suite for my N8.)
With the version I downloaded from hotshare installed, PC Suite recognized my N8.  It also displayed a message saying PC Suite must be updated to support new features, and told me to click on "help" and then the update link.  I did that, and the next message was "Do you want to install PC Suite on your mobile phone (N8-00)?"   At this point I hesitated.
Has anyone done this, and will doing so allow PC Suite to work better with the N8?  What are the new features that the update is trying to support?  If they're not something I need, maybe I'll just stop where I am.
    Any advice?
Moderator note: (Nokia only allows official download site such as Ovi store).

    Using:
    Nokia 6500 Slide
    PC Suite 6.85.14.1
Bluetooth dongle: MSI Star Key 2.0 V2
    Vista Ultimate
Tried while using the BlueSoleil stack (on install disk) and also tried the Vista Microsoft stack.
Phone pairs with no problem. Once PC Suite has paired it says 'Press Next button to authenticate phone'.
It waits 2 seconds then reports:
    'Cannot Authenticate the phone'
I have tried the same with my old 6280 phone with the same problem.
The net (and these Nokia boards) is full of posts from people who have had the same problem but I cannot find any solution.
    Can anyone help please.

This solution allowed the itouch to communicate with itunes and then instantly recognised that it needed to be updated to software version 4.1. All's good so thanks for this

  • Two CS6 suites on one Mac?

Got a wierd request, pretty sure it's not possible, but wanted to make sure.
Client is asking to install Adobe CS6 Design & Web Premium, along with Adobe CS6 Production Premium, on one Mac.
Yea, I know...trust me we've been telling them to either buy Adobe CS6 Master Collection so they have the whole enchalada, or to buy one of the suites and then we can use the ELA licenses for individual apps to deploy any separate apps they may need.
I tried to explain that (1) installing two CS6 suites is not possible...and (2) any individual apps must be packaged using ELA for those apps and not by carving any of the apps out of another suite (which would be the same issue as #1).
    Thoughts?
    Thanks,
    Don

    Hi Don,
here are answers to your queries -
    1) it is possible to deploy 2 or more suites on same machine, using their independent packages created using AAMEE.
    2) Package should be created out of individual media. so in this case there should be 2 different packages created using 2 different suites media. Deploy these packages separtely and it should work fine.
Hope your queries are answered. please get back if you have more questions.
    thanks,

  • Merge Developer Suite DVDs

Title says it all really.  I was wondering if there is an easy way to combine the Developer Suite DVDs, and possibly the Device Drivers DVDs?  At the moment every 6 months we get 4 DVDs, the 3 for the developer suite, and the device drivers.  We then copy these to a network location for safe keeping.  When needed you run the first one which has the setup on it selecting the products to install.  Then it during the install it may ask for DVD 2 and the install will hault until the user selects the next DVD, then sometimes DVD 3 is needed, and then some times with FPGA the additional compile tools DVD is needed, then the device drivers DVD is needed.
If I'm setting up a PC and I know it will take a while to install all these things I would like to select the products to be installed, hit go, and then come back in, in the morning and see every thing installed.  But at the moment if I did that I would see about 1/3 of the install completed.
So is it possible to combine NI DVDs and what is the proceedure?  Thanks.

I think that the spec generator tool should let you create something to automate the install for all of your products pretty easily.
note: I've never actually used this before, so it may not do everything I think it does...
I don't think this works the way I want.  I can run it, and select the products I want to install then it creates a spec file for me to use.  I then run it on the command line but not silently, and just before the install starts it shows what things will be installed.  And it shows when I'll be prompted to give it the next DVD when needed.
I don't want a silent install, and I want to be able to choose the products to be installed when setup is ran.  I just want them to all be installed without needing interaction until it is done.  Looking at the DVDs I think I can copy directories and edit the xml to allow this to work but was hoping someone had done it before.
