E51: How not to receive attachments in email?

Hi,
I can't find anywhere how to disable attachments in emails!
I just want to receive the text. I can't believe it's not possible
If I put maximum mail size to, let's say 2kb, it still downloads the larger attachments...
Headers only doesn't work too.
Is that normal?
Thanks in advance,
Jelle

There are other e-mail progs like Profimail and Emoze whitch can be customized much better. I prefere Profimail. There is a trial version for 28 days on the net. Emoze is free.

Often, pictures or simple documents (eg, one-page PDFs) will appear directly within the message itself. You can also use the Quick Look button next to the attachments line (in the message header) to view and scroll through the files (provided they're viewable, and aren't compressed or binary files).
You can also click Save next to Quick Look to save the files to your Downloads folder.

  • How NOT to embed attachments?

I am trying to ATTACH a pdf file to an outgoing email, but no matter what I do it appears inline instead of being a clickable attached file. What's the secret to NOT embedding your attachments within email? I can't find anything under Preferences.
    TIA.

Does the recipient indicate the PDF is not received as an attached file (embedded) which cannot be saved outside of the message?
The Mail.app displays all photo/image and 1 page PDFs inline or viewed in place within the body of the message by default which cannot be turned off.
An inline or viewed in place attachment is not the same thing as being embedded.
You can control-click on an inline or viewed in place attachment and select View as Icon but regardless, depending on the recipient's email client such attachments may appear inline or viewed in place within the body of the message when the message is opened (as with the Mail.app when receiving such attachments) or as attached files only which must be opened separately to be viewed for which the sender has no control over.
The same in reverse. When attaching photo/image or 1 page PDF files to a message with Windows Outlook or Outlook Express, they are shown as attached files only when sending but when received by the Mail.app, such attachments appear inline or viewed in place within the body of the message by default when the message is opened for which the sender has no control over unless they compress or zip the attachment or attachments.
RTF with Tiger Mail is HTML and with Windows Outlook (depending on the version used by the recipient), sometimes an inline or viewed in place attachment sent with Tiger Mail using RTF for message composition (along with a signature and/or depending on if the attachment is inserted after all message text or within message text) will be received as embedded but this has more to do with a problem with Outlook since the same doesn't occur with all email clients.
If any of your recipients are reporting such attachments are truly embedded when received, using Plain Text for message composition will resolve it.
There is a plug-in for the Mail.app called Mail Attachments Iconizer but the previous info provided still applies.

How do I send attachments by email from my iPad

The thing to remember is that iOS email attachments start with the document itself, not from the Mail app.
    1. Select the thing you want to send in an app that handles it, (for example a Photo might be sent from Photos, a PDF from GoodReader etc.)
    2. Then tap the "share" button (which I see others have kindly posted screenshots for) and create an email containing that attachment.

  • PDFmaker not converting Jpg attachments to emails in Microsoft Outlook 2013

I am having problems converting jpg attachments to emails in Microsoft Outlook 2013 using PDFmaker. I'm running Adobe Acrobat 11 and just updated it to the latest version and that did not solve the problem.
I can convert the emails and Word attachments and can convert the jpgs manually by saving them to my desk top and then adding them as attachments to the resulting PDF but I have several emails each was several attachments that I want to save and it will take me hours to do it manually.
I was thinking there might be some security setting on the jpgs that is preventing PDFmaker from automatically converting them.
I already confirmed that the Preference Conversion Setting is selected to include all attachments in the Adobe PDF. I also unselected the box that reads "block download of external content" but it did not help.

Manual method is a difficult task .You can easily transfer your mails from the Thunderbird to MS Outlook using third party conversion software.i faced the same problem.i tried the following utility. It converts all my Thunderbird accounts to a single PST.you can also try the free demo version of the software.

  • How do I receive and send emails on my new i4S? They are still going to my 3G iPhone

I have restored from my computer to my new iphone 4S but my emails are not being received or sent. They are still going to my old iphone 3G any ideas??

Copying files works OK, but not moving.  It seems like recently(iOS8?), when you try to delete photos from an iPhone that has been mounted you will get a 'permission denied' error. I haven't found a way around this.
I've resorted do manually deleting using one-by-one selections on the iPhone itself.  Dropbox carousel is great for this but I don't use Dropbox yet.  They other way is to do an iTunes sync and then delete the synced folder contents but that just feels 'weird'. Maybe there's a good App out there for photo management.

  • How can I open attachments in email

How can I open attachments in email

Are you sure that the attachment file type is a supported file? Can you open the attachment on your computer?
If the answer to both questions is yes - try quitting the mail app completely and restart the iPad.
Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Quit/close open apps by double tapping the home button and the task bar will appear with all of you recent/open apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner to close the apps. Restart the iPad.
Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.

  • How can i receive my company email address on my Imac and iphones

how can I convert my company email to a more usable email program on mac and Iphones

How about configuring Mac Mail to automatically fetch and send it? You'd need to configure it (and/or possibly your company's so their server knows what to do with the emails) - check your company's email server settings and figure out if it's POP or IMAP and if one or the other is required. Once you have all the info, you should be able to set it up with Mail.
P.S. While in Mail, go to the Help menu and type in either IMAP or POP and read the tips about setting them up.

  • How Can I Receive (Non BT) Email Via 'Windows Live...

We've recently got BT Infinity, and I want to send and receive Emails from various Email providers via Windows Live Mail.  Before, all I had to do was go into Windows Live Mail and set the incoming servers to whatever the Email providers was, and the outgoing servers as "relay.plus.net" and everything just worked.  I've tried setting the outgoing servers to "mail.btinternet.com", but I still cannot send anything.
The instructions I've found so far, are for logging into BT Yahoo Mail and 'verifying' Email addresses.  But we don't have BT Yahoo, the only BT Email we can access is BT Mail via the BT website. This has a different interface.
Could someone give me a step by step guide how to do this and tell me exactly what I'm meant to be putting in my Windows Live Mail account settings?
An example of the error message I get is as below
The message could not be sent because the server rejected the sender's e-mail address. The sender's e-mail address was '[email protected]'.
    Subject 'TEST'
    Server Error: 530
Server Response: 530 authentication required - Your email could not be sent. To fix this you must make a simple change to your email client (known as SMTP authentication). For advice visit http://www.bt.com/smtp
    Server: 'mail.btinternet.com'
Windows Live Mail Error ID: 0x800CCC78
    Protocol: SMTP
    Port: 25
    Secure(SSL): No

Check you have the correct settings as per this link

    No.
If not, what do we consider the easiest &/or most efficient method of getting it there?
Put it in your iTunes library on your computer, then sync it to the iPhone.

  • Mail 3.4 - not showing received attachments (sometimes)

Just upgraded to Leopard (10.5.4 + all updates installed), plus have switched to Mail 3.4 from gyazmail. Think I'll switch back, unless this is a known bug or anyone has a workaround?... (BTW I am using an IMAP account, not running any mail plug-ins, not going through any mail servers apart from ISP)
    The problem:
Some received emails, where I'm expecting a PDF attachment from a client, display a size of a couple of Mb as expected BUT there is no attachment showing (+ no paperclip) in the main window. These messages are also missing the summary of the email (from, time, date, subject) in the email preview window below, along with the all important, save attachment and quick look buttons. Most odd. This is random though as the same user can send another PDF and all works fine.
NOTE - if I use gyazmail to check the same account the attachment shows up as expected so this is a Mail issue for sure (the messages received AND not received have both been Base64 encoded).
    Any help appreciated.
    Cheers, Gary

I've seen this behavior on both Snow Leopard and Lion as well, although I haven't linked it to the mail protocol being used.  Sometimes even on my iPhone and iPad.  It's variable, unpredictable and inconsistent.  I'm sure somewhere buried in the arcana that is modern multi-part MIME messages there's an answer, but I'll be darned if I know what it is.  All I can suggest is filing a bug report with Apple.
