E51 issue

I have encountered a wierd problem with my new E51. I think it is a software issue, but I didn't send for re-installation since I didnt have a spare phone. Just sharing this problem to see if i'm alone:
My E51 has consistently log on to the internet by itself daily from 5pm to 7am the next day, at a half-hourly interval. All logon attempts were logged at the call-logs. All due diligence checks done, configuration is at 'when needed'. There was once after 5pm when the first logon over, I had tried changing the timing back to 2pm, and the auto logon symptom stopped, showing that it is indeed local phone issue, nothing to do with network. I have no idea when it started, I have only noticed it last month when my roaming bills shown additional charges due to this unknown logon that sends up/down few kB everytime and logoff by itself in 10-30 secs.
Could this be a virus? To temporarily overcome this problem until i do a re-intallation, I have changed the APN name. Currently the auto logon still take place, but 0kB transmitted and connection terminated in 3-4secs. Any advice?
On the other hand, I have tried to do my own phone update but it failed. Downloaded the phone software updater, connected and detected the phone, but during updating process it gave error that said connection lost.. I do not know how to overcome this..

Check if you have Mail for Exchange or other mail client set up on the phone.
If you have, check the peak and off-peak time settings and intervals for synchronization.
Please let me know if this helps.

  • E51 issue: Where do I place my music?

    Hello everyone,
I have the following issue with my brand new E51:
I upload my mp3s to the memory card via USB cable - \sounds\digital, and the built-in media player finds nothing.
I have formatted the card twice, and uploaded the music againg, with the same result.
When I download music directly from the Net, the player finds it ok.
I am able to see the files through the file manager and play them too.
Any ideas? Where am I supposed to place the files?

That is wierd, normall the sounds> digital sounds folder is the correct one...
When you download songs from the Internet which folder do they go into? Maybe try putting the music from your PC in that folder in the hopes of it finding it that way...

  • E51 WLAN Setup Issues

    Hi,
I know this has been discussed before, but after searching and trialing I've got nowhere.
Just got my E51 and trying to connect to my home wireless network. Appears to connect fine, try to start browsing, no data is transferred and eventually times out...
I've tried wizard setup and manual setup - both give the same results.
    Router (Netgear WGR614) setup:
    WPA-PSK security
    SSID visible
    Phone set-up
    Network status Public
    WLAN mode Infastructure
    WLAN security mode WPA/WPA2
    WPA2 security mode off
Think that's about it. Any solutions as to what causes this? I fear it's a firewall setting as allows connection but no data transfer. I disabled the SPI firewall on the router and that didn't help.
    Thanks for any help!

I don't know what exactly caused the problem, which consisted of not being able to connect my Nokia E51 to the WLAN Router but if the security settings were disabled. Whenever I tried to enable the security settings with WEP/WPA on my WLAN router, although the access point was duly detected, and apparently flawlessly listed, it would no longer be available when actually trying to connect, as it would return the error message "WLAN not found".
After reading a few things about security issues, (http://www.wi-fiplanet.com/tutorials/article.php/3672711, http://www.practicallynetworked.com/security/041207wpa_psk.htm) I decided that there is no way I could accept to connect to WLAN without security encryption.
By trial and error I managed to enable the security settings on the WLAN router AND successfully connect with Nokia E51 only after I did this:
    1) Changed the SSID to some very exotic new name, completely different from the previous default name (supplied by the manufacturer). I noticed that the default SSID had become a known access point (AP) to my nokia phone when the security was disabled. With security enabled, it no longer worked.
    2) Set up the wireless security to WPA authentication type, TKIP encryption, PKS.
    3) Chose a 15 (or more)-character-strong passphrase and set is up in the wireless router security settings.
    4) Had the WLAN assistant of my Nokia E51 update the AP list.
    5) Once listed as new, unknown SSID, I was able to set up from the phone my WLAN AP, via the OPTIONS tab where I was finally prompted for the passphrase. (Same prompt would NOT work unless SSID of a previously successful, unencrypted AP is changed)
The device resolved the connection which worked fine ever since.
I think that there is a bug with Nokia E51 which does not actually update the access point list and does not reload all of the details of a recently reconfigured AP which used to work fine with disabled security settings in the first place. The mobile phone can be forced to completely refresh the AP list (in Connection Manager> WLAN assistant) only if the SSID of the AP is renamed in the the router settings. It seems that only afterwards would the security handshake between the devices finally work out and establish a proper connection. There is definitely a bug with the Nokia E51 wlan manager!

  • MSI 785GM-E51 no post issues

I can't get this board to display anything and I get no beeps.
CPU is Phenom ii x2 550 and memory is 2x2gb Elipda PC3 10600 EBJ21UE8BDF0-DJ-F. Power supply is a 380w Earthwatts but I also tried another one with the same issues. The thing is that when I don't put the memory in, I still don't get any beeps.  I should get some memory error beeps if nothing is in the memory slots, right?
I tried putting only one memory in dimm 1, same issue.
Cleared CMOS. I also took the motherboard out of the case and used the screwdriver method to fire the thing up...same problems. 4 pin CPU power is plugged in. The four phase leds turn on and all the fans turn on, but that's about all I get.
    I'm out of ideas.

What other components do you have in your PC?
I'm not quite sure that power supply is good enough for your system. Any chance you can get hold of something better, such as the Corsair VX450/550?
Mark...I'm just trying to run it bare bones with nothing attached apart from memory and cpu.
    I'll try another power supply.

  • Pretty old setup, 785GM-E51, I have an odd issue (BIOS related?)

Hello, I'll just get to the point.
I have an issue, where If I start up my pc normally, just push the button and let it boot, it will 100% of the time fail, either by BSODing randomly in windows or my programs start crashing and I'll just have to do the weird way. BUT if i press the power switch on the back, clear the power from my pc, then start up the pc, reset cmos and load my settings again, it will work fine.
This started happening to me when I updated bios to 2.12 from 2.03, yes I have tried many different ways and both versions of BIOS (2.03/2.12) and it still doesn't go away. It was all working fine before the bios update..
All suggestions are welcome, although I am not in a positsion of swapping hardware at the moment.
EDIT: I am currently trying to increase NB voltage to see how it affects any of this (this also increases HT, since they are linked).

test with each one of memory sticks alone
in which test model this happens?
My problem is simply put (problably) that motherboard doesn't initialize voltages correctly from the beginning, ergo I'm trying to increase CPUNB voltages to make it stable from the first cold boot.
This is usually how I need to boot : Power on -> Before POST : Power off -> Unplug AC, clear power from mobo -> Boot.
Now I have reflashed the boot the cleanest way i know (before this i tried M-flash, got a checksum error yesterday so thats not gonna happen ).
USB Bootable Tool -> Newest bios version from MSI (2.C or 2.12) -> Install from ZIP -> Reboot -> Flash bios -> Power off -> Unplug AC -> Wait a little for power to clear -> Unplug GPU (blocking jumper) -> Jumper to 2/3 -> wait 10 seconds -> Jumper to 1/2 -> Remove battery -> Holding battery against the connector in battery slot for 5 sec -> plug battery back in -> GPU back in slot -> AC on, Power ON -> Set my bios settings.
I'm gonna test with each memory stick alone now, should I keep them in their original spot or go through all the slots?

  • MSI 785GM-E51 can't install audio drivers

Hey, I would be grateful if you could help me with this problem.
When I try to install the audio drivers of this mobo(785GM-E51), Windows 7 can't find them. It offers me another set of drivers - that of VIA's, but it should be Realtek's. Normally it wouldn't be a problem, but I have a an issue with front panel microphone jack(it's not working), so I want to install the proper drivers. I tried disabling auto-installing option of Windows 7, and then install the drivers that MSI offers officially , but still the computer acts as if I didn't install anything.
EDIT: It seems that I have a different motherboard - in the document I have(about the parts of PC), it says that the computer has MSI 785GM-E51, but now that I checked the informationa about motherboard in the Windows itself, it appaars that ASrock M3A770DE is in the case. So I guess the fact that I can't install the MSI's drivers is because of different mobo. I have no idea how  this could've  happened.

    >>Posting Guide<<
Why don't you open up a case and read the model? Is the computer secured with some sort of sticker that voids warranty if opened?

  • 785GM-E51 BIOS problem after upgrading to Windows 8

Randomly (it seems) I can't enter my BIOS or use the F11 key to choose the boot device when starting or restarting my 785GM-E51 based system - but only running Windows 8 or 8.1.
Whenever I wipe Windows 8 off the drive and reinstall Windows 7 I have no problem ever, same when I used XP.  But When I upgrade to Windows 8 or 8.1, much of the time (but not always) I can't enter the BIOS, nor is there that message at the bottom of the screen when booting up that says to press esc to enter the BIOS or F11 to select the boot device.  This happens whenever I use Windows 8 or 8.1 as the operating system.
I am currently running the latest BIOS, but this has happened with the 2 previous BIOS versions I reflashed as well.  Currently, the only way I can enter the BIOS is to reboot sometimes up to 10 times before I finally see that message at the bottom and then I can enter the BIOS, etc.
How could the operating system have this effect on the BIOS?
(Currently I have flashing disabled and also I password protect the whole system with a BIOS password.)
    Any help appreciated.
    Thanks

Hello again and thanks for your reply,
If that 'Del or F11" message doesn't show up on the bottom line of the screen when restarting before the BIOS prompts me for my system password, you can't enter the BIOS at all, ever.  The MSI logo is disabled, but changing that doesn't do anything different either.  No matter how many times you press the Del key the BIOS often won't recognize it when the boot drive is Windows 8 or 8.1.  You have to reboot over and over (sometimes 10 or more times) until you see that message, then you know the BIOS will recognize the 'Del' key and you can go into the BIOS.  Interestingly, what sometimes works when this is happening, is to go into a Windows account, then restart or shutdown.  The next time you can usually (but not always) see that message and know you'll be able to enter the BIOS.
I've taken out the memory for another issue, but that didn't change anything.  I've tried changing from my DVI monitor cable to VGA (also for something unrelated) and that didn't do anything either. I installed a new graphics card, instead of using the AMD onboard graphics, and that didn't change anything either.
And to be clear, this only happens with Windows 8 or 8.1, not Window 7, XP, linux, etc.
What I do now is I have 2 SSDs, one with Windows 7, the other with Windows 8.1.  You can always press 'Del' or 'F11' before the BIOS password prompt appears when the Windows 7 SSD is the boot drive (the only drive).  But when you use the Windows 8.1 drive to startup (again the only drive), you have this problem much of the time.  And this has been happening since I upgraded to Windows 8 when it was released 2 years ago (8/2012), even trying different revisions of the BIOS firmware (last update 2/2011).

  • The Nokia E51: The things that work, and the thing...

Wonderful phone. Let me list my accomplishments and outstanding challenges.
    Challenges
    * Finding a video player that will play common formats like xVid in LANDSCAPE format. I did find a free app that will download and play anything on Youtube, but again not landscape.
    * Need to find a video recorder that records with a better frame rate. Is there one?
    * SIP voip calls remain a challenge.. Not sure if the issue is NAT traversal or that I just have the settings wrong or that the issue is the voip/sip provider.. Have been able to get Gizmovoip to work, BUT call quality to land lines is less than I get on Skype-Out (using Fring). With VoipBuster it seems to connect to the service, but when making a call it just sits there without response or connecting or anything else happening. So would still like to do smooth, cheap and reliable SIP.. Any thoughts on providers? Needs to be cheap (or free) to USA, Holland and Thaland.
    * Built in Web browser sometimes crashes (vanishes). Sometimes even just after opening it up and looking at the bookmark list, or shortly after opening a basic page like Google or BBC News PDA.
    * How to change the user-agent of this web browser.. Some sites are determined to present me their 'light' version. People: "Light" is not good when it comes to WiFi phones, or beer. So need to change the user-agent that the browser presents. Opera Mini goes some way to reduce the problem; excellent little browser that, and the best to use when your connection isn't WiFi (and/or not free/unlimited or slow)
    * How to select and copy (to paste elsewhere) text from a web page? Would like for example to be able to use the edit key (#) and drag & select the mouse pointer.
    * Nimbuzz is a free program that allows you to chat to MSN, Yahoo Chat (etc, etc) AND Skype chat. It's weird on this phone though, sometimes it just does't start when I try to open it. Can use Fring of course, but the chat function in Nimbuzz is better. Also think Nimbuzz leaks less GPRS bytes in overhead, which is nice when paying by the kilo/megabyte.
    * Need to find a Calendar & Todo GTD type program that kicks **bleep**, rather than sucks it.
    * Some good games would be nice. Suggestions? Would love a good pinball or other simple yet addictive arcade stuff. I loved the old Nokia 9 Ball Pool as well
    * Standby screen sometimes flashes/flickers. It seems it's updating something, but the effect is annoying. It's not a hardware glitch, the background wallpaper remains visible. it's just the Standby items that briefly blink.
    * My phone has English and Thai as languages. I *NEED* Dutch T9. Why is finding & adding a couple more languages as hard as the Quest for the Holy Grail? Come ON..
    * You can really feel the phone heating up when it's working hard, just as with a Skype-Out call.. I'm not suffering burns or anything, but is that normal?
    * On S60 v2 you could go into 'Applications' and set that certain applications were allowed to access the internet. Options included 'always allow', 'ask every time' and 'ask first time'. Where did that go? Some apps have a habit of asking to connect a couple times. I want to just allow them access. (Or ideally, access only when connected to a particular access point or access point group.)
    Accomplishments (SOLVED)
    - Getting rid of T9 words that I added but that these days become the first suggested word.. Found a way to revert back to the common word 'is' after adding 'HR' (as in human resources) to the dictionary which in hindsight is a boneheaded thing to do.. (T9 didn't used to work that way on my last Symbian phone)
    - External Bluetooth keyboard 'justworks' out of the box, great.
    - Wifi search, signal reception and configuration is amazing.
    - Must-Haves: File system access with the free Y-Browser, Fring chat/Skype calls, Gmail client (lighter than the built in one), emTube (for Youtube vids).
    - Also Google maps is pretty amazing, it even tracked my position using GSM triangulation when I was *WAY* upcountry in Northern Thailand.. Sometimes though it says 'position not availabs le', is that a phone thing or a network operator thing that they didn't list the GPS position of their signal towers?
That's it so far.. has it been a week already..?! I just don't know how I ever lived without one.

    > People complaining about video player and picture taking
    > capabilities should have bought an NSeries.
To a degree I agree when it comes to hardware; like E51 includes a 2 MP camera which honestly is fine for business functions like taking the occasional pic of a whiteboard drawing or the like.
However business people also want to show people pictures of their kids or something, and on a phone that's got plenty of hardware punch it seems just petty to ship it with a handicapped picture browser.
Same applies to music.. On those long flights you do actually want to listen to music..
I think this whole N vs E vs number series is just a case of over-marketing your stuff. I buy E51 because it had all the features I valued at a great price; nothing else enters into it. The next choice would actually have been 6110 Navigator, a number series phone. Or if an N series then probably an N80i, again similarly priced.
    > Eseries is or is marketed as a business phone. It should
    > perform well when it comes to business yet the most common
    > task of syncing outlook email is out of the question.
The irony is that the best e-mail implementation is actually GMail.. Get e-mails in a very lightweight browser AND be able to quickly search and retrieve ANY e-mail sent in the last 3 years or so. Really that's all that's needed. (well, along with better support for attachments, but the server-based model works very well I think.
    > PCSuite is obsolete. Even in its 6.85 version as it only
    > offers sync with Outlook express while the newer version of
    > Windows Mail is something people from Nokia are not yet
    > aware.
Yeah I never quite understood that application. There seems so much redundancy there.. I mean you just want to copy files to and from the phone, so if the thing works like a USB drive then that really is just fine to move either pictures or music or anything else. I tried the i-tunes wannabe app once and honestly I don't see the poing of converting my mp3's to whatever it's converting to. The original mp3 sounds just fine and I have plenty of space on the memory card.
And then as a separate there should be sync to Outlook and that's pretty much it.
Backup....: again that's either just copying files, OR syncing. My sync to outlook IS my backup.
Modem/connections: I'd rather just see that as a modem driver for Windows and be done with it.
    > I own an E51 and sometimes it fails to see my music on my 8Gb
    > card.
Yeah, it's not smart enough to notice by itself that a metric **bleep**ton of new tunes showed up so you have to manually go 'update'. Oh well.
    > Switching programs sometimes leaves me with a white screen
    > for a couple of minutes.
I don't get that.. UNless perhaps the app crashed in a serious way, usually something pretty beta like Fring.
    > Yet I don't complain cause is a new product and a new
    > firmware will probably address those issues.
    > But not being able to take my Outlook inbox with me
    > it's disappointing, frustrating and unacceptable.
I'd be inclined to auto-forward all my work email to Gmail and be done with it. Then you have years of email always with you.
    > Come on Nokia you can do better than this.
Are you kidding, they're all working on making their stuff look and feel like iPhone, just like every other phone company out there. Waste time in syncing email and multiple to-do levels? Sorry, not very hip, even for a business phone.
And to be sure, look at all the business people buying iPhones as if they were buying donuts.. iPhone COMPLETELY lacks major and sometimes very basic phone / business features but they don
t CARE as it browses the net, shows pictures, plays music. Again, Nokia tries to over-market and over-segment.. Get a cool 'everything' phone out there and everyone will buy it, business people included. Heck, 'business functions' just means 'business software'. For sure there's no such thing as business hardware..

  • Remote lock & Memory card corrupted issue

Remote lock & Memory card corrupted issue
    Hi Dear Friends,
You might have experienced the "Memory card corrupted issue."
Don't panic! The solution is here!
Your memory card is just 'locked', it isn't 'corrupted'!
For sure, this post would be of great help to you, if:
    • You have enabled the "Remote lock" feature of your Nokia device.
    • You have sent the remote lock message to your device and locked it remotely.
Finding the solution really took me a lot of time. I was inspired by various posts on the Discussion, and decided to find the official notes on the issue. So would like to thank those who shared their tips, and helped us solve this problem.
I'm using E66, (you might use something else), and would refer to E51's and E65's User guide so often.
Of course, I'm not going to explain the instructions, and recommend you to refer to your user guides when needed.
On the contrary, I'm going to explain what may not be mentioned in your user guides.
    Let’s Begin
    What Has Happened:
In short, you attempted to test the feature, your phone was locked, you keyed in the lock code, code was accepted, you used the phone for a while, switched it off, powered it on, you were prompted the Lock code, you keyed in the lock code, code was accepted, you attempted to view some stuff that was on your memory card, you didn't find it, you tried to run a program that was installed on your memory card, the program icon didn't open, you put the memory card in the card reader and connected it to PC, it was not detected, you went to Menu> Tools> Memory card> You saw "Memory card corrupted"!
Don't, don't select the Yes selection key if you got the caution message, "Memory Card corrupted, reformat it?" because your memory card isn't corrupted, it's simply being locked!
But you can't find the unlock memory card command in Menu> Tools> Memory card> Options.
    So? What to DO?
    1. (This step is optional) Disable the Remote lock feature.
(Refer to your user guides) and change Allow Remote Lock> to no.
Then, while the unit is on,
    2. Press the power key briefly, and select Remove memory card.
    3. Remove the memory card from the slot.
    4. Press OK if prompted.
    5. Reinsert the memory card in the slot.
    6. Reopen Menu> Tools> Memory card.
Is your memory card detected? If yes!
    7. Follow tips number 2 & 3 of What to Know section below.
Did you get "Password removed" message?
If no, be careful of the case of the first character.
If you had changed the Remote lock message many times, use the one that was practically sent to the device via text message.
. In case you had set a password on your memory card before, you may also attempt to unlock the locked memory using your own password, not the first eight characters of the remote lock message.
Step seven would make the memory card detectable to the connected card reader to the PC too.
    8. The memory card is detected temporarily, but it is locked and the "memory card corrupted" issue reappears every time you switch off/on the phone, unless you successfully complete step seven.
    What to Know?
    Official User guide Tips:
    1. Remote locking also locks your memory card. (E51 page100)
. Yes, the one mobile phone that sends your device the predefined remote locking message, receives the confirmation message in response, indicating, "Mobile telephone and memory card are locked". But it isn't written in E66's and E65's.
    2. To unlock the memory card, select Menu> Tools> Memory> Options> Remove password, and "enter the remote locking message as the password". (E51 page100)
. Yes, quite clear, but the quoted part ("enter the remote locking message as the password") isn't written on my E66's User guide, and there's a vague precaution on E65's, (refer to number 4).
    3. If the message is longer than 8 characters, the first 8 characters are used as the memory card password. (E51 page100)
. Yes, quite clear good E51, but I don't own you; I have E66 your little sister. I owe my memory card's survival to nice users on the Discussion.
    4. The maximum number of characters allowed is 8. Using more than 8 characters could prevent unlocking the memory card and require reformatting it. If reformatting the memory card is required, all information on the card will be lost. (E65 page28)
. Quite interesting, but it contradicts what good E51 says in number three¡!
. And it contradicts my own experience of the issue (and some other users' on the Discussion) too, since my E66's memory card accepted the 'first eight characters' of the 'ten-character long’ remote lock message that I had previously used to remote lock it.
. The first three tips are quite important and shouldn't have been excluded from E66's and E65's user guides. I don't have the time to download and review all the user guides that support this feature, but at least I read some user manuals and also got the impression (from the posts on the discussion) that there had been not enough information on E66's, E65's, E71's, N96's, and some others.
You may like to do a simple search on Google:
"The first 8 characters are used as the memory card password" site:nokia.com
Since the content of the user guides on the server seem not be searchable for any reason, you won't find any official support result except those of the good users on the Discussions. And the 'Nokia Site Search" brings no result too. (At least on the date of this post).
¡ Terribly sorry for those who have selected Yes to the Reformat caution message. It wasn't your fault. But there's an idiom that says, sleep on it! "Think about it for a while before coming up with a decision".
But now that you have tested the feature and know its solution, don't be afraid, and enable the Remote lock feature again! God forbid, but it may be needed one day!

  • *** E51 GREAT PHONE BUT NEED A FIRMWARE UPDATE... ...

    Hi
TO THE NOKIA FIRMWARE UPDATE STAFF:
I bought that great phone NOKIA E51 but it needs a FIRMWARE UPDATE because the built'in camera gives photo(and videos too!) in VERY VERY "green" color that's too bad (MY OLD 6630 , so only 1,3 megapixel is best in photo quality against my actually E51..!)
*** SO PLEASE REMOVE THE GREEN COLOR TENDENCY IN THE PHOTO! ***
ANOTHER AND LAST problem I have noticed during mine along E51 testing is the integrate REAL PLAYER VERSION has VERY VERY big problems during *MP4* VIDEO PLAYBACK (MP4 VIDEOS MADE ON PURPOSE FOR MOBILE), VIDEO APPEARS In jerks (ESPECIALLY IN FULL SCREEN!) And SOME TIME IT BLOCKS DURING PLAYBACK!
*** SO PLEASE A NEW VERSION OF REAL PLAYER IN THE NEXT E51 FIRMWARE ***
FOR ALL THE REST THE E51 PHONE IS GREAT AND PRICE TOO (200€ IN ITALY), I BELIVE IT'LL BE A BEST SELLER -BUT- ONLY IF THE PROBLEMS I LISTED ABOVE WILL BE CORRECTED!!
i got latest firmware version: 100.34.20

    Hi,
I wrote to Nokia regarding this issue using the Nokia India site, and the Nokia for Business site. I also sent an email to [email protected]
Here is the text of the email:
    Hi,
I bought my Nokia E51 four days back, and I am VERY happy with the
phone. However, I feel that there are some shortcomings with the
phone, which need to be addressed by firmware upgrades. I am listing
    them here:
    1) The camera has a VERY noticeable green tint
    2) The video playback in full screen mode using RealPlayer is VERY
    slow and choppy
    3) In the "Missed Calls" part of the call log, there is NO way to
determine WHICH number of the contact was the call missed - "Mobile
Number", "Tel.(home)", "Tel.(office)" or what? The only way to
determine is to call back using the same screen, which is VERY
    counterintuitive!
You can have a look at some more people agreeing with me here -
    /discussions/board/message?board.id=communicators&thread.id=14028
and the problem 3) described in detail here -
    /discussions/board/message?board.id=communicators&thread.id=15956
Apart from these 3 problems, I am VERY VERY happy with the E51 - it
lives up to all the promises it makes! Way to go, Nokia! I request you
to address those 3 issues as fast as possible!
    Thanks and regards,
I request ALL other users of the phone to please contact Nokia similarly, to have these issues resolved ASAP. If someone can suggest more ways of contacting Nokia regarding this issue, please tell me! Thanks!

  • E51 upgrade problem / slow contacts/messages respo...

    Hi there All..
I'm as many the proud and happy owner of a Nokia E51.
At first i found the software very responsive, quick and an great deal faster than my previous owned N95.
after a short while the following start to occur:
When i go form "desktop", active stadby i mean directly to "create message", or to messages through the fastkey it takes at least 20 seconds before i get where i want to be.
    Same goes for contacts.
    I tried the following:
-Hard Reset: *#7???# (dont remeber the code..)
    this worked for a day...
-removed my gmail IMAP cheking account from mailboxes.
    no improvement.
-tried to update the phone to new firmware 200.xxx.xx with Nokia Software Updater. Did not complete! It hung at the last 5 minutes and then told me the connection was broken and i should take out battery, replce and reconnect. and then press "again".
Did not work. So i just rebooted the phone and it seemed all normal, and the new firmware seems to be installed. But after a few days de phone became slower again as i described above. So i wanted to try the frimware installation again.
I thought maybe my windows installation is buggy, so i made a clean install on my personal computer (E8200, 4GB, Vistax64/WinXP32bit dual boot). And i tried again. Same error at the last 5 minutes remaining....
    My questions are these:
    - Slow messages / contacts - ||Is this normal? or else a know problem with a known solution? Does annyone have this experience also?
    - Freaky Firmware update - || Is this normal? or else a know problem with a known solution? Does annyone have this experience also?
forgive me my loosy engelish grammar and spelling.. i'm dutch.

Anyway, I'll hold myself guilty for hijacking the thread - sorry. Conversation regarding restarts have to be conducted somewhere else.

  • E51 streaming question

    Hi all,
My first post here. I have an issue when streaming audio on my E51. I am using an internet radio application. When the backlight goes out the audio streaming also stops. I have searched the setings but failed to find a method of preventing this. I'm new to Nokia ( ex SE user), so I'm on unfamiliar ground.

I'm having the same problem.  It streams audio fine until the power saver activates, and then it stops.  If I hit a button as soon as the light turns off, it will usually keep going.
In another post, I read about two people who were having the same problem, but they were able to fix it by downloading Light Control, an app that lets you have more control over the power saving settings.  I downloaded a couple of versions of this app, but it won't work on my e71.  I haven't been able to find a version that does work on my e71.
So, still unable to successfully stream internet radio for more than 60 seconds or so.

  • E51 Balance checking restart Necessary

After calling someone from airtel( Airtel is network operator in India)
if Balance checking is done using *123# immediately after call, you get message balance could not be known. After this, Then Contacts calling wont happen at all and checking balance also wont work.. Restart of phone Necessary
If EDGE is not closed properly and if you send some service command to your operator that moment, then again same issue, restart necessary.
This issue was there in E51 from 100.x.x.x firmware, they never still have patched in their latest firmware till now. Strange.

  • 3rd party sat nav for e51

i am looking for a 3rd party sat nav that is compatible with my e51, i understand that i need an external receiver but am not sure which one would be the best for my phone?
ideally the mapping of the sat nav would be topographical as well as street mapping to maximise its use.
any ideas outhere would be appreciated.

    Hi mal5336
An indication of your worldwide location may help in choice of application here as some providers maps are better for particular regions. Nokia do produce two external Bluetooth GPS receivers LD-3W and LD-4W but cheaper alternatives are available, but it would be an idea to try before you buy as software updates to Nokia devices have been known in the past to introduce compatibility issues unfortunately.
