E51 menu hang

i know this was discussed, but with search i didn't found anything about this problem. my problem is that today, after a month using without any problems, my E51 didn't entered the menu. from standby i pushed the menu button, but the menu didn't opened. the standby screen remained with some modifications around the clock. the other buttons (contacts, messages) did work. after a restart everything was okay beside that a folder that i moved from the root menu into a subfolder, appeared again in the root menu. is there a method to correct this problem or a method to avoid this?

I experienced the same problem twice. It happens just randomly, nothing in specific "triggers" it. If someone happen to find a solution, please inform us

  • Right-Click/Contextual Menu Hang

Hi, for maybe a week now, Logic Pro 8 has been hanging every time I've right-clicked for about 30 seconds (every single time). I constantly check Console for any error messages, but nothing comes up, and I have no clue as to what the problem might be. Any help with troubleshooting or finding a solution would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I just started getting something similar on most pop-up menus in Logic Pro 8.0.2. It started with channel strip preset menus, but today I was getting it on channel inputs, plug-in preset menus and eventually even on insert effect menus and the Esc tool box! I click, nothing for 3-4 seconds, then a spinning beach ball for about 18-20 seconds more, then the menu comes up like nothing happened.
Nothing in Console here either. Activity Monitor shows one of my 8 CPU's peg to 100% during the lag. I have tried getting rid of two plug-ins I installed in the last month, verified all fonts and yanked the one I installed recently, repaired permissions, and cleared all caches using Onyx. Many full reboots. Everything is up to date.
Everything else works and plays perfectly, but this is seriously killing my happy flow. What the heck changed recently? QuickTime 7.5? Pro App 2008-02?

  • E51 Menu Button Problem

    Hi there.
Just looking to confirm that I am not alone in having this problem; After having the e51 turned on for some time (30sec - 15min), pressing the menu button when the phone is in active standby mode does not display the menu. The icon for the last function used (contacts, calendar, etc.) remains on the screen, the reception and battery indicators are redrawn to the smaller size, but the carrier name still appears at the top, and no menu entries are visible. I can still exit the menu, and use the hotkey functions of the phone, but can not browse the menu tree or access any obscured functions. The problem is fixed momentarily after rebooting the phone, but this is not a workable solution.
    Thanks in advance.

Yes I disabled the auto-key lock. I don't use it.
2 things - how do I update the firmware? and how on earth did you turn off the automatic key lock???? I just got an E51 and it drives me crazy - everytime I want to use the phone it's locked again!
If I am not having any of the mentioned issues above is there a need to do the firmware update? what is it for?
    Thanks,

  • Firefox Help menu hang fixed (I think).

I recently installed Snow Leopard--not a clean install, just a regular upgrade--and discovered a vexing issue with Firefox 3.5.3--any time I clicked on the Firefox Help menu, FF would hang with a spinning pinwheel cursor.
First, I disabled all of my FF add-ons, extensions, themes, etc. No change. Next I uninstalled all of those things. No change.
Finally, I went into my Library folder and trashed all of the Firefox settings files I could find, then re-installed a fresh copy of Firefox, and now the problem seems to have disappeared.
I hope this is helpful to someone.
    Regards, Doug

Can you please provide more detail such as full path and what files were deleted? I am having the same problem.

  • Versioning menu hang

I've reported performance problems already, (see
Terrible Performance with 10g preview ). I got rid of some of them but others persist.
This one has gone mad recently.
If the System Navigator has focus, and a "package-name-part" (e.g. "com") node is selected in the tree, if I try to open the Versioning Menu from the main menu bar, or from the context menu by right clicking on the node, JDeveloper hangs for several minutes using all the CPU.  The context menu takes a few seconds to appear, but nothing compared to the versioning menu.
The time taken seems to be related to the number of files under the selected node.
The above happens with the Application Navigator too.
As I run the mousepointer along the menu bar or down the context menu, each item is highlighted as normal, but as soon as the pointer moves over the Versioning item, the problem manifests itself.
Trying the same thing with the focus in an editor window is OK.
    Recent Changes  -
1 I deleted a lot of files in the java source tree which weren't under CVS control. I thought these  might be causing the slowness, but its worse since then.
2 Activated System Navigator in preference to Application Navigator

  • Starting NetBeans via gmrun or openbox menu hangs X11

    Hi!
The same problem takes place when I start NetBeans with gmrun or openbox menu (at all cases the same bash script is used). NetBeans itself starts without problems. But then I start NB project application (it is Scala project at my case), and X11 hangs. I still am able to switch to console via Ctrl-Alt-F1 and terminate X11 with Ctrl-C.
If I start NetBeans from terminal or bashrun, all works fine. ~/.xinitrc contains just 'exec ck-launch-session openbox-session'.
    Where to dig in?

At my case the problem isn't related to gnome-keyring. And I don't use GNOME.
I was forced to reject openbox at all (starting from openbox menu results in the same problem) and have returned to KDE. All is fine now.

  • IPod Nano (4th Generation) switches on when connected to USB power - shows Menu & hangs (unresponsive to click wheel) - deems off after 5-sec - Switches off after disconnecting from USB Power - syncs with iTunes - Tried 5R's - Problem still persists

    1. The iPod Nano (4th Generation - 8GB) switches on, only when connected to USB power by showing apple logo and displays Menu options thereafter..
    2. However, I can not access Menu as it is unresponsive to click wheel. As a result it is inaccessible to any further use,
    3. NOTE: it displays "Battery Fully charged" icon on the screen without any "Lock" icon.

  • Font menu hangs

HELP!! I think there might be a problem with the font menu utility running on mail. When I go to change the size or typeface ...anything that requires the use of the font menu, everything grinds almost to a halt and the ball keeps spinning. Sometimes it actually does what I want it to do and sometimes it doesn't ...after an exasperatingly long wait.
Is the application corrupted? I'm using font reserve.
    Thanks.
    Sarah

This message occurs whenever your installed fonts change. I work for a publisher so was getting it all the time as I turned fonts on and off for different projects.
    In Office 2004, do this:
    1. Go to */Applications/Microsoft Office 2004/Office/Support Files/*
    2. Rename or move FontCacheTool. (Requires administrator access)
    In Office 2011, do this:
    1. Go to *~/Library/Preferences/Microsoft/Office 2011/*
    2. Delete *Office Font Cache*
    3. From Terminal, type touch" then drag in the Office 2011 folder
    4. Back in the Finder, do Get Info on the new, empty *Office Font Cache* file. Make it read only and lock it.
    Notes:
    1. WYSIWYG menus will now just show the font name in standard font.
    2. You may be able to disable the 'optimising' message more easily by going to Word's preferences and turning off the 'WYSIWYG font and style menus' tick box in the General section. This takes affect in all Office applications but doesn't seem as reliable at preventing the caching problem.
    4. Newly added fonts should still appear when you next start an Office application.
    3. However you have Office set up, it can't see certain fonts. They are the ones logged to Console, e.g.:

  • Menu hangs on dual monitor

We are using dual monitors on our windows xp pc's, and under designer 6 all applications worked on both screens.
After migration from designer 6 to designer 10, we can use all applications on the main monitor, but when we move an application towards the secondary screen, the menu does not respond anymore. I think it has to do with a designer preference. Can anybody please tell me which one and what value I should set it to ?

In my preferences - NONE of the check boxes are checked. I did check the mirror displays one earlier today, but that is not the answer.
Right now on my main monitor I have Firefox in the top menu, and the dock in the bottom, on the secondary monitor, it shows Photoshop main menu dimmed out. If I click on a Photoshop command in that menu, it immediately goes to the program.
iTunes is open, I just moved the main window over to that second monitor, now I can see both this Firefox screen and the Firefox menu, but now on the secondary monitor I see the iTunes window -- and the iTunes main menu is visible but dimmed in the second monitor.
I honestly don't think this is intended. It is certainly not helpful. The second monitor seems to remember whatever was open there last. Weird. I have used 2 monitors for YEARS, not seen that one before.

The header is a bit to the left, the spry menu hangs too far to the right, and the body is too far to the right as well. I simply need them all centered...

  • BIOS lock-ups after upgrading bios to v1.8

    Hi,
I have a K8N-Neo FSR motherboard with an AMD Athlon 64 3000+, 2x 512 MB DDR Memory, ATI Radeon 9600XT w/256 mb ram video card.
It worked fine for about half a year now, but now I decided to upgrade my harddisk from a 160GB IDE hard drive to a 300GB S-ATA hard drive.
Copying went fine, but I was not able to boot from the new hard drive, so I decided to upgrade the motherboard bios, hoping that that would solve the problem.
After updating using live update, which went successful, the pc rebooted.
I was able to go in the bios and check the hard disk settings, and everything seemed to be configured properly, so I did exit&save.
After rebooting again, the bios got stuck at the boot logo though, and no response to keys or anything else.
I tried clearing the bios, both with the jumper, and by removing the battery, but the problem remains.
After lots of restarts, sometimes I get a little further where it shows the energy star logo.
Sometimes I am able to get to the bios setup first screen (after which it locks up and I can't do anything)
Other times I just see the first lines, and yet another time I see 'Memory testing'
I can't boot from a floppy either, so I can't downgrade or reinstall the bios either.
On the back panel, the right-bottom led lights up green mostly when it is locked up.
Sometimes the left top led lights up red and the bottom left led lights up green.
Anyone has an idea on how to solve this?
    Thanks!

I had same issue for me the fix was to disconnect one of the SATA drives.   I am now having all kinds of issue, machine won't boot without 1 sata drive disconnected.   Was running fine last night on one drive, now machine is slow as christmas.   Takes 15 minutes to load a web page, start menu hangs when coming up for 3-4 minutes.   I was fine until the 1.8 BIOS upgrade.   I wondered if my motherboard went bad, but then I see three or four others having similar issues.   Can the motherboards be returned to MSI for a replacement?  While running version 1.8 I had the same issue seemed to boot OK on 1 stick of ram, but not both.   Once I flashed back to 1.7 now I can only run 1 harddrive.   What the !@#$@!# is going on.

  • HP Laserjet Pro 200 M276nw network problem

Hi all, I own a M276nw MFP printer since few days, and I'm unable to use the installed app flawlessly. The printer is connected to a wired LAN with 192.168.128.x address range. There's a router with 192.168.128.26 that gives internet access. All clients on the network (and the printer too) are configured as :
    IP (DHCP or static): 192.168.128.x
    255.255.255.0
    GW 192.168.128.26
    DNS 192.168.128.26
Actually the printer works correctly and is pingeable from the network (I can print), but using the apps on the touch screen, sometimes the menu hangs ("connecting..." or "downloading...") then displays a message, saying unable to connect to HP Web Services, and asks for retry. Internet connectivity on my LAN works perfectly.
The printers usually works well for about 1 minutes of App browsing, then the connection stop working, even if I'm still able to print (so the LAN interface on the printer is up). I tried to replace the DNS with google (8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4) without success. I changed the LAN cable and port on the switch, to be sure, but nothing. Is the unit defective? Can be a Firmware problem (the printer says it's up-to-date).
    Greetings
    Andrea

Hi, let me explain my LAN setup a little more. Actually all clients, servers and printers are in a private LAN with 192.168.128.0 class. All clients are connected to a L3 switch, and can access internet via a L3 Router (A), cascaded to another L3 router (B).
    So:
    clients (workstation, printers) - (192.168.128.0)
    -> router A (192.168.128.26 -192.168.1.253)
    -> router B (192.168.1.254 - 10.0.0.x) -> internet
all clients are configured as follows (statically or dinamically)
    IP 192.168.128.x
    mask 255.255.255.0
gw 192.168.128.26 (the first router, A)
dns 192.168.128.26 (or another internal windows-based DNS)
Following your suggestions, I enabled port mapping to NAT incoming ports:
    137-138 (UDP)
    139 (TCP)
    161, 427 (TCP/UDP)
    9100, 9220, 9500 (TCP)
These port have been redirected via Router-B -> Router-A -> Printer IP (wich is static 192.168.128.201).
Ports 80 and 443 cannot be redirected to printer IP because are used for other services, hosted on a local server: these are redirected to another internal IP.
Outgoing traffic is not blocked, so I don't need to open firewall on certain ports.
    Printer's firmware is up-to-date.
The problem occurs shortly after power-up: app navigation stops working after the printer goes the first time to power-saving  mode (LCD off). On cold start, app navigation works correctly.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks

  • IBook G4 fails to boot with internal HD installed, works when removed

The short version: My iBook started failing to boot via any method (gray screen) and the boot menu (Option during startup) would freeze. Replaced HD, things were better. Six months into new HD, nearly the same symptoms appear again. Removed HD, now running off different HD via FireWire.
    The long version–
Back in late 2008-12, my iBook started failing to boot up. Usually it would refuse to boot from any source. Booting the internal disk (10.4.11) would get to a gray screen without any logo and stay there. Holding down Option, the boot menu would come up, but it would usually freeze before it displayed any volumes. Booting from CD (AHT, or OS install disc) would fail in nearly the same way as booting from the internal drive. Target Disk Mode would start, but once the other machine tried to access the drive, the FireWire logo would stop moving and the drive would never show up on the other computer. Very rarely, the machine would get a bit further through one of the boot mechanisms, but it usually froze while booting or just after login.
This machine has gone through three logic boards in the past, so I suspected that was the problem again. I took it to a local Genius Bar and the Genius explained that it was probably the hard drive. He said that sometimes, depending on the way the drive fails, it can "take out" other parts of the system due to drawing too much current, etc.
I was a bit skeptical, but it was going to be much cheaper to replace the HD myself than it would be to send it in for a MLB replacement. So I ordered a new HD (80G) and a USB-to-ATA/SATA adapter. I hoped that I would be able to use the adapter to savlage a bit more data off the drive (it originally failed right before a backup!).
After extracting the HD (40G), I connected it to the USB adapter and was able to access the drive just fine. I used another machine to run another backup from the recently removed HD (40G) to one of my FireWire backup drives and proceeded to put the iBook back together with the new HD (80G).
Once it was all back together, the new HD worked fine. I was able to restore the recent backup from my FireWire drive to the internal, and it worked fine. The only oddity I noticed was that the new drive was apparently trying to sleep several times a minute. I used smartctl (installed via MacPorts) to adjust the power management setting on the drive, and that seemed to help. I also started running smartd (also via MacPorts) to better monitor the new drive.
Recently, a bit more than six months after the new HD was installed, the new HD started showing errors in the system.log. I never found any errors in the logs after the previous HD failed (even though I could look through the logs just fine with the drive attached through the ATA-USB adapter).

I did not notice the errors until the afternoon of the 7th when the problem became evident. The events around 13:00 happened when I was trying to run a backup. The first backup failed in an odd way (when I came back to check on it later that evening, SuperDuper! seemed to have quit running). So I restarted the backup and started looking around in the logs. That is when I noticed the kernel I/O error messages. When I asked smartctl to query the drive, it showed that many errors had been occurring and it displayed the drive's log of the last five or so errors (alas, I did not save this output). Meanwhile the re-run of SuperDuper! was having problems again. It seemed to have hung (no SDAgent or SDCopy processes were running, but the main UI was still there). Since the backup was not getting anywhere, I decided to shutdown for a while and try again later.
When I did try again later, I was back in the situation of six months ago. It would not boot at all (no internal, no FireWire, no CD/DVD, boot menu hangs, Target Disk Mode hangs). So, I opened up the system, removed the HD and put it back together without an internal HD. The machine is now able to boot and run from FireWire. Again, the (6 month old, 80G) HD "works fine" via the USB adapter. If SMART were available through the USB adapter, I could check to see if the drive is continuing to have problems. I used SuperDuper! to copy the HD to a volume on my FireWire drive which is how I an now running the system.
Has anyone had any similar problems? Any idea why my iBook seems to be killing/rejecting hard drives? (I say killing because, while the drive is connected internally, it certainly seems to be dying. I say rejecting because once the drive is out of the system, both the drive and the system seem to "recover".) I have read messages there where others report success having their iBook MLB resoldered ("reball"). Has anyone experienced substantially similar issues that were solved with a resolder repair?
    Thanks!

I was able to test my “failing” ATA drives in a G4 Mac mini (I had to take the mini apart because its drive had finally failed). I was able to successfully boot the Mac mini with either of my iBook drives installed. Once booted, +Disk Utility+ said that each one's SMART Status was Verified. I used smartctl to pull the full SMART info while I had them installed in the Mac mini.
Since the drives were still “good”, I think this emphasizes that the problem is with the ATA interface on my iBook's logic board. Maybe it is broken, or maybe it just needs to be resoldered. For now I am happy just booting off an external Firewire drive.
BTW, I ended up installing the 6 month old 80G drive in the mini. It has been working OK for 10 days now. As long as it continues to operate normally in the mini, it will serve as evidence that my iBook's HD ATA controller is borked. I just hope the ATA controller is more capable of accepting its fallibility than was HAL.
There is a minor problem with the 80G in the mini in that I am unable to use hdapm to change the aggressive head unloading that the drive suffers. I was able to adjust it with hdapm while it was in my iBook. I am able to adjust it with hdparm under Linux on the mini. Luckily the change I made while booted in Linux "sticks" after rebooting back into Mac OS X (I hear it will be lost if the drive is completely powered off though).
