Hi,
I tried to update to the current firmware 400.34.011 but when I download either the NOKIA OVI SUITE or the NOKIA SOFTWARE UPDATER neither of them updates to the current firmware version. I have 400.34.001 and when both of the programs check for updates they say that my version is up to date, when clearly the website states otherwise.
There has to be a glitch of some sort.

Also, there are times when Ovi Suite and NSU cannot detect updates, but the onboard updater on the phone can. Dial *#0000# on your phone, select options>check for updates.

I want to use nokia x2-01 as a modem in my pc. But when i connect ovi suite say it is not in pc suie mode but i have selected pc suite mode in setting>connections>usb setting. I also tried to repair ovi suite,pc conn. Solutions, cable drivers but still proble occurs. Earlier when my phone was new it works but not no how to solve this .

    Hi KapishB,
Welcome to the Nokia discussions board!
In order to use your Nokia X2-01 as a modem, I advise you to follow the steps below:
    1) First of all uninstall Pc Suite and Ovi Suite by installing PC Suite cleaner on your PC.
    2) Then restart your computer
    3) Download Nokia Suite and open the program
    4) Connect your device by USB cable and in Nokia Suite go to Options > Connect to internet
Your computer will now be connected to your phone's 3G internet connection.
Make sure you benefit from a data plan from your network provider.
Let us know how you get on and please post any other questions you may have.

  • Ovi suite says I don't have maps installed on my 5...

This is a bit odd. I used Ovi Suite to upgrade my ovi maps to 3.03 a few weeks ago when I got the phone. I installed maps for a few US states as well. Yesterday I wanted to add maps for another state. Ovi tells me I don't have maps installed on my phone. Then it says it needs to upgrade Ovi suite so I do that. Then it says it wants to install ovi maps on my phone. Ok, fine. Turns out it's trying to install version 3.01 on my phone which of course I don't want to, assuming 3.03 is better than 3.01
So what gives here? It seems I can only install ovi maps using the Ovi Suite, right? I send an email to Nokia but perhaps someone here knows the answer.
    Thanks,
      Sander
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I've seen this happen a couple of times now.
As far as I can see, upgrading the phone firmware (in this case from v31 to v40), affects Ovi maps 3.03.
In chanchan05 's post Re: OVI map 3 not working, he quotes 5 installed files that make up the Ovi 3.03 application: Nokia Maps, Ovi Maps, and three Share Location files.
Upgrading the firmware to v40 appears to remove some of these, namely OVI Maps and the Share Location files, leaving only Nokia Maps.
The maps application still runs as v3.03 but with some of the functionality missing. Amongst others, the Maps menu screen shows only 9 icons, instead of the normal 10. "Share Location" is the missing one.
I guess the problem occurs because of some conflict between the v40 firmware (which I believe includes Maps v3.01, and any existing installation of the more recent v3.03.
That has the effect of prompting Nokia Ovi Suite (NOS) to attempt to 'upgrade' the Maps application. Unfortunately, instead of offering to reinstall the corrupted V3.03, it tries to downgrade the whole package to v3.01!!
I was fortunate and picked up that something was not right, so did not proceed with the installation. Instead I used the latest version from the Nokia site, which reinstalls v3.03 including the missing files:
    http://www.nokia.co.uk/apps-and-services/ovi-maps/main
Nokia maps works properly and NOS no longer offers the wrong upgrade!
I thought I'd share this as others could end up wasting an enormous amount of time going round this loop (updating the map data each time takes hours!).
And I'd advise everyone who has updated their firmware to check they have 10 Maps icons and all 5 installation files!!

    - reinstall OVI and connect phone disabling internet connection
any real solution for this problem?

  • ITunes says the software's current, but it's not

iTunes says that my 5G iPod software is up to date at version 1.1.2... but that's not the newest update. what should i do?

Seems I've run into the same problem...
The problem with keeping the older iPod software is that iTunes will not allow me to copy video files onto it. It says I have to update t he software....
I'm considering restoring my iPod to factory settings and going from there, but I'm investigating to see if something easier can be done (not that re-copying my music to t he iPod will be that big of a deal... I wanted to clear some junk off of it anyway).
My iPod is a 5th gen, and I'm running iTunes 7.

  • N95 8GB: Ovi Suite hosing/truncating Outlook Conta...

I am very angry at the moment. I have realised that Ovi Suite has hosed my Outlook data and I have already spent a whole day (and probably many more to come) trying to recover the data.
    These are the problems:
Outlook Calendar Note fields get truncated, not consistently that I could find either (e.g. at a certain character length). It did seem to have a problem with any linked/shortcut attachments in there though (but there were very few of them). I wouldn't mind if this was just on the phone but it has screwed up this data IN OUTLOOK, the MASTER COPY!!
Ditto with Calendar items and Task items too.
For recurring Calendar and Task items, it also seems to spawn individual items for what would be each occurrence (and synchs all these back to Outlook too). I haven't had the nerve to check yet whether it actually deletes the original occurrences too.
As many people have said, it obviously appears that Nokia are rushing out, untested, sub-standard software that isn't even building on previous builds. My old NSeries PC Suite had LifeBlog and everything and worked absolutely fine. What was key to me in NSeries PC Suite was that there was a dedicated setting to say which end was the master and/or the direction of the Synch (I can't remember now). For me, I just said NEVER synch back to Outlook. Synch from Outlook to the phone, no problem, but NOT the other way.
Why did I allow the upgrade to Ovi Suite? Well, that was inadvertant. I upgraded from XP to Windows 7x64 and so had to reinstall all my apps...and got lumbered with Ovi Suite. It initially looked OK but I have since found these rather major flaws. I don't give a hoot about Ovi not working perfectly but I would at least expect that it did not royally screw up another app's data (aka Outlook). No problem with it screwing up its own data as my Nokia data is (ideally) a slave from data from my PC...but now my Outlook looks like it has been subject to a revolution.
I have also searched online for a version of my NSeries PC Suite that I could download as my original CD version was from 2008 and auto-looks up online for updates...and just finds Ovi Suite!!
So, I think I know the answer to this, but has anyone else found the same problems and, ideally a solution? Ideally, apart from the solution to just use bog-standard PC Suite, I would like to get the latest version of NSeries PC Suite that was the current release just before Ovi came out...or to get Ovi to only synch the one way.
I would tell you what the firmware version on my N95 8GB was but I am loathe to hook it up again (even though I have turned all synch off). I think it was 20.[something].
    This is my Ovi setup:
    Nokia Ovi Suite 2.1.0.87
    Nokia Photos 1.0.239.0
    PC Connectivity Solution 10.5.1.0
    Connectivity Cable Driver 7.1.27.0
Nokia Ovi Suite Software Updater 2009.46.1.60264

    - Mozilla Firefox 3.6
    Detected Bluetooth stacks:
    - Microsoft (Version: 6.1.7600, Build: 16385)
As a final note, I have been using Nokia since 1998 or so but this has left such a nasty taste in my mouth that, yes, I am almost certain to abscond to App*e (even though there are similar but far less serious problems with their synch software).
I really hate to do this as I have managed to work around all the Nokia software problems to date without much fuss. Most, of course, DESPITE Nokia, but this (one fistful of hair) did this camel's back break.

  • Ovi Suite Installation Error (Error Code 2)

    Hi I was using old OVI suite(ver: 2.x.x.x.);
yesterday I downloaded the latest version of ovi suite (3.0.0.290).
But when I m trying to install it exits with saying error code 2 what it is ????
I already removed my old ovi suite ...
I want some help on this

    Hello,
Could you check that the 3.0.0.290 installation file has not been corrupted during the download? This can be done by right clicking the Nokia_Ovi_Suite_webinstaller_ALL.exe. Then from the Properties -> Digital Sigantures (tab) you should be able to see Nokia signature. Select that and then push the Details button and you should see a new dialog and there the text "This digital signature is OK." if the file is valid. If you can get find the signature, the file has got corrupted and you should try to download the latest version again from here.

  • Failed to update Ovi Suite 2.2.1.23 to 3.0.0.284

    Hi
I have Ovi Suite 2.2.1.23 installed on my workstation. Today I noticed that there is update available and tried to install it using current Ovi suite version. New package was donwloaded succesfully but when Ovi suite started to install the new version I got this error message:
"Unknown signature - Installation could not be started. The installation package has an unknown signature which has not been verified by Nokia. Try again later.".

I just noticed that there is a documented "Known issue" for a very similar problem (unfortunately, it is hard to find unless you already know what the solution is, and search for the right keyword). The description sounds unrelated, but the root cause is very similar:
    https://betalabs.nokia.com/node/5251
Quoting: "With Nokia Ovi Suite 3.0 there is currently a known problem with expired certificates that can potentially prevent OVI account sign-in.
As a workaround you can remove the problematic certificates manually: Go to Internet Explorer-Tools-Internet Options-Content-Certificates-Trusted Root Certification Authorities. Delete all GTE CyberTrust certificates whose expiration date has passed. You should be left with one GTE certificate that is valid."
The issue with failing to install the update is very similar, but most likely related to an expired Verisign certificate. So it should go away if you also delete outdated Verisign certificates from your root cert store.
Alternatively, you can also locate the downloaded "webupdate" EXE in the \temp folder and launch it manually.
Hope this helps. Happy New Year!

  • Why is Ovi Suite trying to connect to Microsoft Ex...

    I need help!
When tyring to sync with Outlook it keept trying to connect to the Microsoft Exchange Server for some reason as I get the message that the Server is not available from Outlook and then error 83860005 from Ovi Suite saying that it cannot sync.
I have now tried what the error message says about restarting, setting up the e-mail account again and repair sync.
Also different things suggested in other threads for error 83860005.  Nothing works.  I cannot sync my contacts.  Calendar seems to sync.
I had no such problems with my N85, only with the N8.
Can anybody help?  What about Nokia.  Have not received any responses from them when I first raised this problem.

  • No updates through Ovi Suite

    Hi all,
I am running the latest version of Ovi Suite for my Nokia C3-00.
My C3 still has SW version 03.61 and I suspect that some issues can be resolved through firmware update 7.20.
Unfortunately I can't get the update. I connect to Ovi Suite by Bluetooth without problems. But as soon as I press the update button, it checks the Ovi Suite upadte ( none available, as I downloaded yesterday ) and when it checks for phone updates it says it cannot connect to the service.
Ovi Suite has access to the internet, not blocked by firewall or AVG.
Software updates through phone itself ( FOTA ) will not work either, as the install SW update function is greyed out.
    Help !
    Any suggestions greatly appreciated.
