E51 Software Update

I am trying software update on my E51 from version 200.xx.xx to 220.xx.xx (latest available).
Identification of my phone is visible on PC suite (as in fig 1 of attachement), however the updater reports error that the device is not detected (as in fig 2 of attachement).
Anybody has an idea of the issue? Kindly pass on the remedy if anyone has. Thanks.

I guess there is a problem wit the USB port mapping. Try reinstall the computer, change the USB cable to another one (if you have more than one USB port that is) and try again.
Just on a smaller note, the latest fw for E51 should be 300.34.56.

  • E51 - Software Update Problem

    Hi!
I own a Nokia E51 and I've been having some problems with the software: from time to time, whenever I received a text message I couldn't open it using the phone's "desktop" (the cascade menu). I was told that it might be a sofware problem and that I shoul reinstall my software, so I backed up my data downloaded the last version of Nokia softwareupdate and got to work.
As I was using the Nokia software update to reinstall the software my Spyware Terminator software prompted me a couple of times and I hit allow every time. After that I got a message from Nokia software update that it had lost contact with the phone and that I should take my battery out and retry. I followed all the steps there (the last step was to press the power button for one second) and hit retry and it's been updating for two hours now. The thing is that I can't see any progress on that update bar (the white and blue is moving as it were working) and there's no "time left" displaied either. I've shut down both my antivirus and antispyware software.
What I would like to know is what I should do now: keep waiting and if so for how long? I only disconnected the phone when the software told me to and what's really bugging me is that it doesn't seem to be on (I mean I took the battery out and pressed the power button for one second and that was it). There's no blinking on the screen or anything. The phone looks dead and the software just tells me that "the software is updating and that I should wait". Is it actually updating or just working in a loop? Should I reboot and try again?
I really don't want to think that I've lost my phone because of the Spyware Terminator meddling.
So, any thoughts on my problem?
    Great many thanks,
    Robert
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Thank you for your help.
I had read the FQ, but not the extended one with the option to format the phone using the three keys combination.
I manged to format it then I restarted my computer, shutdown the antivirus and antispyware, reinstall the software, and restore the backup date from my memeory card. It all went well and took about 10 minutes.
I just hope that I won't be getting that error again. By the way does anyone have any idea if it actually is a software thing or everything I did has been in vain. As I said, when I get text mesages, i can't open them using the cascade menu on my phone's desktop.
    Anyhow, great many thanks again,
    All the best,
    Robert

  • After software update my Nokia E51 has lost intere...

Yesterday I did for the first time my Nokia E51 software update. I followed after instruction, update has installed properly. After update I backed up my phone data and settings. But there is one problem. After update my phone lost internet connection. Everytime when I try to go to the internet my phone is connecting Vodafone Live, but after that always appears such error: Web: connection time out.
I wanted setup internet settings here, but I see that Nokia doesn't do automatic setup anymore Hell, how it was helpful and handy!!!
I was also on my mobile provider's (Vodafone) website, but they doesn't have any manuals for this kind of Nokia like mine.
Do you have any suggestions what should I do?
    My mobile model: Nokia E51
    Provider: Vodafone (Ireland)
I'll be grateful for any help and advices.

If your computer is stuck restarting, hold the Power button to turn off your MacBook Pro and turn it on again. As the installation finished previously, nothing will get damaged

  • Software Updater stalling

I've got 2 machines, both XP Prof 32bit SP3.  Both latest PC suite and Software Updater.  One machine Nokia E52 the other E51.  On both when launching Software Updater, it stays on "Starting Application".  Uninstalling everything and reinstalling everything, no difference.
I cannot Update my software with Nokia Software Updater

I've got Bitdefender Total security as well and I tried your advice, i even disabled firewall, run NSU as admiinistrator and still doesn't work. I've been trying to update by using OTA as well but it always asked me to check ID and server even though I already configured it. I started pulling my hair out of frustration ,  i still have the v31, i bought this phone here in US. I do appreciate your help! Thank you! Any other suggestions?

  • Nokia Software Updater, inadequate instructions, 5...

I have to say I am thoroughly disappointed with the Nokia Software Updater. I heard that there was an update to the software on my 5800 so I followed the instruction on the program and did not get what I expected.
I followed every instruction to the letter including having my phone fully charged before beginning the process. After downloading the update the computer then my computer started making the hardware connected and hardware removed noises over and over again with various bubbles coming up to tell me about Nokia Rom and so on. This goes on for about 10 minutes then the program tells me it has lost connection with the phone and the phone says "startup failed, contact retailer". You can imagine at this point I am very unhappy to this has happened.
After following the instructions it then gives to reattempt the update. The computer simply fails to connect to it again and the phone gave the same message.
When I initially plugged in my USB cable the phone asked what mode it should be in and the Software Updater DID NOT SAY what mode it should be in. I thought it would be best to leave it alone then. The computer said the software could be updated so I left it to it.
As far as I can tell now I have a phone that does work though it not turns itself off after random amounts of times.
I wish I had never attempted to use the updater as I think it has damaged my phone.
    Anybody have any advice?
    Very unhappy customer here

if your phone is in warranty, just take it to the service and it will be repaired for free. if not, it may cost between 10 and 50 dollars. don't worry.

  • After using Nokia Software Updater my preffered la...

    Hello everybody,
I use Nokia E51. "If my Russian language is no longer available after using Nokia Software Updater, I need to return my Nokia  E51 to a Nokia Care point to have this language reinstated." But I don't know where is Nokia care point and is it possible to reinstate, if I tried to update second time after language was missed?
    Please help me,
    Sicerely yours)))
    Garry

    Common problem
you phone was an import originaly meant for another market,
either the importer or retailer added the russian language pack before selling it on
When you connected your phone to NSU it looked at the product code then installed the firmware for its orignal region
    this overwrote the installed languages
the only legitimate way of getting your russian language back is to go to a nokia care point and pay to have them do it
You can find your nearest care point by using these links:

  • HT5381 i did a software update and now mail wont open at all

Help......my mail app is coming up with an error "You can't use this version of Mail with this version of Mac OS X".  Can I uninstall the update?

    !! WARNING !!
    about the September 2012
    "Security Update 2012-004"
If you've got "Mail.app" in a folder OTHER THAN the root "Applications" folder,
MOVE "MAIL.APP" TO THE APPLICATIONS FOLDER
    **BEFORE** INSTALLING THE "004" UPDATE!!
Because *IF* you use OSX's integrated Software Update app from the Apple menu to do the "004" updating, and *IF* your Mail.app is NOT in the Applications folder, then buddy, you've got some sitdown fixit time ahead of ya and/or some internet tie-up time downloading the "004" update file itself.
Been through it all, already.  In fact, just got done getting my Mail back up & running. And I tried everything short of attempting to unpacking my "Mail.pkg" receipt file using... whatever... even Pacifist couldn't get it out. So that fixit "Plan D" died quick. And I'm not savvy enough to use Terminal commands to do "Plan E," so that SUDO stuff was my brick wall.
So I compressed my entire "Mail" subdirectory that contain all my emails, for safekeeping during the required surgery, or whatever would work, leaving the original Mail directory where it was. In case something bad happened in all my fixit whatevers, the one thing I *didn't* want to cross paths with was a hosed Library -> Mail folder. Then I'd be pssd. But I can wipe out that ZIP now 'cause all's well now. After 6 hrs of downloading thru a mobile broadband hotspot running at only 14KB/sec speed due to my having gone over my T-Mobile hotspot plan's bandwidth amount (throttled-down after reaching the limit, tho not cut off completely. Kinda nice, but it's a huge speed drop).
I tried moving the two Mail.app versions around, compressing them & then trashing the original so they wouldn't be recognized, blabla, even booted my Mac in Safe Mode & reinstalled the "MacOSX 10.6.8 (Snow Leopard) Update Combo.dmg" update file, which in the past has fixed many problems. But after restarting, not this one.
Like a dummy who ignored knowing better, I had my Mail.app in a folder other than the Applications folder, with only an alias to that being in the Applications folder. NOT GOOD ENOUGH. The updater don't see that as nuthin special or useful.
So if you've got, like I've got, "old" icons for Mail.app (v4.5) in your Finder toolbar & in your Dock that all point to "Mail.app v4.5" in whatever folder you've got that in, other than in the Applications folder (where Apple apparently REQUIRES that it be located, and ONLY there, at least for OSX updating purposes), then after you download & autorun that "004" updater using Software Update, NONE of your pre-existing Mail icons will work. And MOST aggravatingly, **NOR** will your brand-new "Mail.app v4.6" work that came out of the "004" updating installation.  So basically, your Mail.app's... all of 'em.... are hosed. But only if you run the "004" update without your "Mail.app v4.5" being located in your Applications folder and ONLY in your Applications folder. And duplicates of Mail.app, scattered around your HDD??  Always a problem with many Apple apps.... The Apple software engineers apparently like 'em to be in the Applications folder, and in ONLY there, and ONLY the latest version, and ONLY 1 single copy of each on your entire HDD. They just don't seem to stress that enough, it appears. Kind of an oversight for them to not emphasize that, IMO...
My recommendation for this particular September 2012 "004" update:
If you run Software Update, and if you see the "Security Update 2012-004" listed as available for download, UNCHECKMARK IT.  DO NOT DOWNLOAD IT USING SOFTWARE UPDATE !  Instead, download the actual update file itself.
Same thing, only a different way of doing it. Most importantly, you'll be skipping the auto-installation that Software Update performs.
AND you'll have that update file on your HDD for future fixits, should a nasty "unfixable" problem come up.
First, #1. Do a filename search for "Mail" (Option-Command-Spacebar). Scroll down to where the "Apps" are located in the list under the "Kind" column heading. First, find your Mail.app that's v4.5. Get that bugger into your Applications folder if it's not already there. Next, Trash all other "Mail.app" apps you see in that same list that you may have elsewhere on your HDD.
    #2. Go here: https://support.apple.com/kb/DL1586
And download the actual "004" DMG update file: "SecUpd2012-004.dmg"
And of course, it's a biggie.... 270MB... so watching grass grow may be involved here if you've got a slow connection (go to a MacDonalds & do it, like I shoulda done).
    3. After downloading, I'd recommend closing down all apps, emptying the Trash, and restarting.
Then, after restarting, run Disk Utility's "Repair Disk Permissions."
Then, doublecheck that the Mail.app version 4.5 is in your Applications folder.
THEN fire up & install "SecUpd2012-004.dmg."
    Reboot.
After the reboot, your Mail.app version 4.5 in the Applications folder will have become Mail.app version 4.6 in the Applications folder, and all will be well again.
And you can dump that zipped-up "Username -> Library -> Mail" folder then, too.
    Happy Mac'in!

I keep being asked to update my Safari but when I do a Software update it scans but never gives me a list and just says no new updates. Help please!

There are no updates to either OS 10.5.8 or Safari 5.0.6.
If you need a later version of Safari you must first upgrade your operating system to a later version of OS X.

  • How can I see up AppStore/Software Updates for multiple computers using the same account?

Recently an iMac crashed from a software update. I want to see what installed & crashed it.

Launch the Mac app store on the computer you want to update.
To use your Apple ID at the Mac App Store
Choose Store > Sign In from the App Store menu.
Enter your Apple ID and password, then click Sign In.
    Then redownload Lion.

  • Error message with Software Update

Hi everyone. I'm getting the following error message when trying to download some items via Software Update:
"None of the checked updates could be saved. A networking error has occurred: Cannot open file (-3001). Make sure you can connect to the Internet, then try again."
This is for the following downloads:
    iPhoto 7.1.4
    iDVD 7.0.2
    iMovie 7.1.4
    Security Update 2008-005
Any ideas? I have no problems with Internet access at all. I'm running a new 24" Intel iMac 3.06 GHz with Mac OS 10.5.4
Thanks for any help you can provide.
    Bruce

    Hi baltwo.
I was able to manually download the iPhoto, iDVD and iMovie updates from the Apple website and install them with no problem.
After I downloaded the Security Update 2008-005 and tried to install it I get the following error message:
"You cannot install Security Update 2008-005 (Intel) on this volume. This volume does not meet the requirements for this update."
Is this why the other downloads were prevented? I've never had problems with Software Update before.

  • Since installing new software update, my iphone 4S no longer is recognized by itunes

I installed the new software update to my Windows PC and my iphone and now my iphone 4s is no longer recognized by itunes and I cannot sync.  I already attempted unintalling itunes and reinstalling it - it didn't work.

    Hello KatieJean123,
It sounds like your phone is not recognzied in iTunes anymore. I recommend the troubleshooting steps from the article named:
iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1538
Here is an overview of the troubleshooting to be done:
    1. Update iTunes
    2. Check the USB cable
    3. Verify that Apple Mobile Device Support is installed
    4. Restart the Apple Mobile Device Service
    5. Verify that the Apple Mobile Device USB Driver is installed
    6. Check for third-party software conflicts
If the issue persists, try uninstalling iTunes and its associated apps with either of these two articles depending on your operating system version and its associated softwares:
Removing and Reinstalling iTunes and other software components for Windows XP
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1925
    Or
Removing and reinstalling iTunes and other software components for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
