E51 - won't retrieve email after being powered dow...

I recently upgraded to a Nokia e51. It was all working fine, and then the phone ran out of battery. So I recharged it, turned it back on, and now it won't collect email. It's possible that there's a simple way to get it to start retrieving email again and I haven't done it. Any ideas?

After unit is completely turned off, press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
If that does not fix it, contact Apple and get it serviced.

  • MacBook Pro won't start after being powered off for extended period of time

Hi all, I have a 2013 MacBook Pro (OS X Mountain Lion) that I've owned for about fourteen months.  I have just been away for several weeks, during which time my computer has been left completely powered down.  However, now it will not start up again.  When it is plugged in, the startup sound will play, but the screen stays black.  The indicator light on the charger switches back and forth from green to orange several times.  The battery indicator lights on the side of the laptop all blink at first and then one lights up a solid green when the button is pressed.  I left it plugged in to charge overnight, but nothing has changed since yesterday.  After reading several other forums, I have tried starting it up using (ctrl+opt+shift+power) as well as (ctrl+opt+P+R+power), but I got the same result both times.  If anybody has any suggestions, I'd be very grateful.  Thanks!

    • Already tried that.
Yes you did, and you said so in your post. Sorry - my fault I did not read the complete post.
What model MBP is this? Removable battery?

  • Computer won't boot first time after being powered down.

I just had my motherboard seviced because I needed the BIOS reprogrammed and MSI sent me a different board.  If my computer sits in the off position for awhile....  Upon power up, the computer will freeze at the logo screen.  If I push the reset button, it will boot up just fine.  I have not tried to disable the logo screen, but does anyone have any ideas?  Overall, I have not been happy with MSI or my 3rd "platinum" board.

Well, I did not have the problem before they sent me a different board and my PSU is definitely not the problem.

  • Macbook Pro Retina 15 late 2013 won't turn on after being sleep

I've been having the an issue with my macbook pro retina 15 late 2013 that I bought 2 weeks ago. After a long time of being slept when I try to turn it on, it won't. I press the power button several times and nothing happens, after a long time of trying then it turns on. and I get the message that the machine turn off because of an error but nothing else. I think that's not ok for such an expensive laptop. I had the first version of the macbook pro retina display and never had an issue like this even though I install a lot of apps from app store and third party apps also. I was running parallels with 3 microsoft windows os and never had an issue like this. In this case I haven't installed anything on my new macbook pro besides parallels and the windows seven os. So I don't know if I should take it to the apple store maybe they could change it for another one I don't know.
Does anyone have the same problem?
    sorry for my english

Well I have this problem too, do you get a message saying 'an error has occured please press a button to restart' or something similar when you just brosing the internet or watching a movie.
P.S I use safari and QT.

  • Outlook 2011 won't send emails after updating to 10.8.5

After updating to 10.8.5, I can no longer send emails out of my .mac account. I am using Outlook 2011 and have double checked the outgoing server settings and everyting checks out fine. Seems to be a compatability issue now with Outlook and iOS. Can anyone confirm this or know how to fix this problem? Thanks

BTW - the error message that comes up is: "5.7.8 Bad username or password (Authentication failed)..."

  • Mac Pro won't cold start after being off overnight

My Mac Pro will not boot after sitting turned off overnight. I will hear the bong, but will not get past the grey screen, won't get to the Apple logo screen. I am able to start by resetting PRAM (opt + command + R + P). Once up and running, computer will restart fine, even shut down and restarted will work. But, after sitting overnight turned off, it will not start up. I have new Western Digital RE3 WD1002FBYS 1TB 7200 RPM drives installed, one is backup of the other, both are bootable. Diagnostics show no problems with drives, or any problems at all. I've reinstalled the OS twice, the problem persists, any ideas?

I have almost the same problem:
My Mac Pro switched on automatically every morning and then stopped at the grey screen.
Usually, I had to reboot it a few times, then the Apple logo appeared and the OS booted as usual.
I tried almost everything: reset PRAM, repaired disk and permissions, reset the SMC, run hardware check, replaced the battery, cleaned it inside - with no success.
One day I just left it there with the grey screen and when I came back the OS had booted!
Checking the logs I found out that it took about 30 minutes from the moment it switched on to the start of booting the OS.
In the meantime I tried this serveral times and the result is always the same: It takes from 15 to 35 minutes from turning on the Mac to the moment that the OS starts to boot.
Does anyone have the same experience or can anyone explain this behavior?

  • Email won't retrieve emails

My email doesn't refresh anymore. I haven't received an email since Thursday on my mail app, but on my laptop I there are emails coming through fine. Has anyone else had anything like this happen?

I had this problem as well after I upgraded to 7.1.  I deleted the gmail account, rebooted the phone and added the accoount back on my phone.  This worked for me.  An added bonus was it improved my batter consumption. The battery drain after the upgrade wasn't normal.  After I fixed the email problem the battery drain was normal again.
    Hope this helps!

  • Outlook 2010 won't send email after a move of the .pst file.

I moved the pst file from an external drive to C:. When I restarted outlook, it asked where the file was located. After selecting the pst file in the new location, it all appeared fine. The mail was there and could be read and new mail was received. However,
it was soon discovered that the outbox was piling up and no mail could be sent. I have tried creating a new profile as suggested in other help articles, but this simply created a new and different pst and mail structure. How can I get the old one to be
    able to send mail again?
    Thanks,
    Mike

    Hi,
What type of account are you using? POP3 or IMAP?
You mentioned you created a new profile to setup the account, can you send emails with the new profile?
If issue persists, some security program and firewall may cause the sent mail stuck in Outbox issue, please disable the firewall and anti-virus program to test the result again.
We can also run Outlook in Safe Mode to determine if 3rd-party add-ins caused this issue:
Press Win + R and type “outlook.exe /safe” in the blank box, then press Enter.
If there’s no problem in Safe Mode, disable the suspicious add-ins to verify which add-ins caused this issue.
In case the .pst file was damaged during the move, we can also run scanpst.exe to repair the .pst file, test if this helps:

  • My iPad won't start up after being charged.  Any advice?

My Ipad 2 won`t turn on.  I`ve charged it an hour.  Pressing the start button does nothing.  Any adviceÉ

Have you tried a reset ? Press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds, after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

  • Macbook won't wake up after being closed

(Sorry for the wall of text)
This is a problem I've been having for some time now. Sometimes, after closing my macbook (and therefore putting it to sleep), it won't turn back on after I open it again. The sleep light will stay on, the hd won't start spinning, the screen will stay black, and the caps lock/num lock lights won't turn on. I've tried pressing every key combination I can think of, tried the power button, unplugged and re-attached the power adapter, and tried opening/closing it again. I even completely re-installed OS X but that did not solve the problem and it just happened to me again, shortly after installing 10.5.5. I ned up having to hold down the power button to force my computer to turn off and then start it up again. (I've also noticed that starting up after one of these incidents will cause the screen to flash white once and then go to the normal start up screen). Anyone have any suggestions? (It's a 2nd gen macbook with the specs listed below)

How do you know? I've tried everything, and each "fix" seems to work temporarily.
Let us know if you have the problem again.
I've reset the SMC, repaired disk, repaired permissions, and eventually it happens again -- I open the cover, the screen is blank, and the only way to use the computer is to hold the power button down until it goes off and then turn it back on. This fixes it for a while, too. That's why I don't think any of those other "fixes" are actually doing anything.

  • IMac G4 won't boot up after being unplugged for a week

Last weekend we took our 7-year old iMac temporarily out of service while having some remodeling done. Peripherals were disconnected and everything was packed away safely in boxes.
Today, I tried to set our system back up in the same place, using the same electrical outlets, etc. Everything else (DSL modem, Airport Extreme, deskjet printer) is powering up OK and working just fine. However, the iMac itself will not power up at all -- no chime, no fan sound, screen remains dark -- when the power button is depressed.
The power button does not appear to be stuck, as far as I can see. I've tried disconnecting power for over five minutes, disconnecting the keyboard and mouse and other peripherals, using a different outlet. Still nothing. (I haven't tried using a different power cord because I don't have another one that fits.)
Everything was working fine last week before we took the system down.
    Any ideas?

    Hey Henry,
Several years ago, someone (cough) managed to strip the head off one of the screws while trying to take off the base panel, and I'm not sure it's possible to get into it without special power tools.
Well you need to get in there to at least press the PMU button.
So depending on how stripped the head is you could use a jeweler's straight slot screw driver. What you're trying to do is to press and rock the tip in the stripped area, which will usually be conical, cutting a new groove into the "cone" to get enough purchase to extract the screw.
I have also used a Dremel type tool to cut a new slot. Using the thinnest cutoff disk I'd grind it down on a piece of scrap steel until the diameter is close to but slightly over the head of the screw. Approach the head of the screw from the outer radial direction and use the reduced disk to cut a new slot in the head of the screw. Then use your straight slot screw driver to extract the screw.
There are miniature "Easy Out" type extraction devices that can also do this job but you can only buy them from special distributors.
The last resort is to drill the screw head with a .073" or larger bit to break the head off the screw shank. The shank is .072" in diameter.
OK so with the bottom off here's the diagnostic for a no power situation from the service manual:
"6. Reset PMU. Refer to “Resetting the PMU on the Logic Board” mentioned earlier in this chapter or Kbase article 95165."
The PMU button is on the opposite side of the RAM slot and towards the bottom under some plastic. Only press it once and have the unit unplugged.
"7. Verify the battery is good before replacing modules. A drained battery may be indicative of a crashed Power Management Unit. Does the battery measure at least +3.5v? If not, replace the battery and reset the PMU. If the battery does measure over +3.5v, reinstall the battery and reset the PMU."

  • My Mac Mini won't turn on after being stored please help"

I stored my Mac mini for several months as I do every year but this time it won't turn on. Please help! It's an older version probably 2006-2007.

you should definitely get a decent UPS to protect your investment.
something like the APC Back-UPS ES 700 should suffice.

  • My appstore 'install' button won't work properly after being tapped. How do I fix this?

After I tap the button displaying the price, it moves to the right and becomes a small square/rectangle, then stutters and moves to the lft, become green and saying 'Insta...'. Assuming this is the Install button, I press it, but it just becomes blue again. No matter how many times I try, it doesn't install. Anyway to fix it that doesn't involve restoring or deleting any of my previously downloaded apps?

Try a reset. Press & hold the Power and Home buttons simultaneously, ignoring the red power off slider, until the Apple logo appears. Then release both buttons. This should not affect any content on the iPad, it is similar to rebooting your computer.

  • PDF won't display correctly after being sent from iPad/iPhone

    Hi,
Wondering if anyone can help me, we have a PDF come in to one of our users outlook accounts, it opens fine on the computer. However, he has then proceeded to forward this to a colleague through his iPad and when the colleague opens it on their computer, it gives an error message 'Insufficient Data for an Image'. From here the PDF doesn't display correctly, whereby it only shows when scrolled halfway down the page, when you scroll back up all information dissapears as though it were a blank page.
FYI the software we are using to open the PDF is Adobe Reader, which we updates to the latest version to test for this issue. In short, when opened on the local computer it works fine, but as soon as it is forwarded from an iPad it won't open properly (the document opens fine on the ipad before it is sent). I have also tested this through my iPhone and i get the same issue.
Can anyone help? Thanks in advance!

Any chance that a Microsoft Exchange Server is in the mix? Could depend on what version of exchange is used.
You will need to try a work-around. Apple seems slow on fixing this issue.
