E52 - loose cover problems

This is my first post and topic here,so I want to say Hi to all!
It's too bad I have to start with complaining and it's even worse that this is the first Nokia I have bought.
For like 6 years I had only 2 phones - Siemens M55 and SE k800i so I decided it's time for a change and thought E-series are great option.
I read a lot of opinions regarding e52,but it was a spontaneous decision to buy it.
I really like the phone - WiFi, decent camera ( not as good as SE ,but hey ... Buy a camera if u want nice pictures),good sound quality and 3,5 jack, nice applications and so on. Still trying the GPS overall I'm very happy with it.
However its construction is the thing that I really hate! The right soft keys or whatever its called with the erase button is unusable ... Why? Because everytime I press it I hear that squeaky sound and I cannot stand it. When I type message,even if I press it while I'm talking ...
And the second thing - the back cover ... C'mon ... It's moving like there is an earthquake. Okay , Im exaggerating but really when I hold the phone in hands and I just press the back cover not hard, its moving in and out and again its making sounds like its going to break ...
I really would like to try all the phone features,but this constructions is just bull **bleep** ( sorry for the expression ).
Is there any way I can ask for a refund of my money because of the things above or at least they can change my back cover and the front panel?! Any way they can change those movings and the squeaky sound? Anyone else with my problem ?? Just for referecen - phone is made in Finland and number is RM-469. I read about RM-469 that most of them are defective ...
Thanks in advance! I would really love some help,because 200 euro is a lot of money for me and I expected I will get something good that I will use for years. Now the idea to sell it for half price and spend another 200eur for a same features phone doesnt fit in my plans.

Yea,probably have to give it some time to stop squeaking ,but no idea.

Guys,another question. When I'm speaking with someone - I hear them very badly.
I saw some discussions here that the other party was not hearing well the conversation, but I have the opposite problem.
Actually the voice is clear enough with no noise,but when I'm outside let's say and even there is not a lot of traffic when I speak to someone I have to repeat several times - what?what? I cant hear you ? and my phone sound is on maximum ?!
I'm really disappointed with this, why can't I increase the volume more , like it's made for speaking in super quiet rooms etc.
Any problems with this?
I just tried my last SE k800i and volume is like 2-3 times better,of course a lot of noise on the higher level , but at least I can choose high volume to hear wha they speak to me ...
Can they really change my phone because of the voice problem and the construction or I have to live over it ?

DVD cover problem in Leopard

Hi,
when I add a DVD cover to a movie, this changes the permissions in leopard. I have to chmod the dir again to edit the info. Very irritating. Anybody any tip or is this a bug?

Thats not a problem at all dude. The cross mark appears because of Intel Rapid Store Technology. The drive gets disabled and it can be enabled by making right click on it and select 'Enable'. the drive gets disabled if not used for some time and saves energy.

Has anyone experienced loose wire problems with iphone 5 cables?

We have purchased 3 cables from the Apple Store and experienced the same problem with loose connections after minimal usage.

Then return them to the Apple store under warranty.

E52 web browser problem

The web browser in my E52 is unable to view video content in most web sites. It just can view videos on Youtube main site.
When I use the E63 web browser it works great for the same sites that E52 failed to view.

Yes I can see the video using skyfire which works fine even with my old E51.
So you can not see the video on the E52 built in browser like me..
It is very strange that the FP1 safari browser is capable of viewing that content where the FP2 and 5th failed!
I tried to open that page on nokia 5800 XM and it could not view the video (the same problem as E52)..
That means that the latest versions of safari (built in web browser) is having a problem viewing flash content and embedded videos.
You can view the video contents only on youtube page and maybe so few other pages.
still viewing the same blank area even without the flash logo.
Anybody is facing this issue withe the new nokia phones?

E52 loosing reception like Iphone

Hi all,
I recently changed my operator. The current one does not have very strong network at my house. Usually I have like 4-5 bars of network but the moment I pick up the phone/hold it in my hand, the network drops to one bar.
The previous operator had a strong network so usually I had full 7 bars and on picking it up used to come down to ~2 so I didn't have any problem on voice calls.
Anyone else got such a problem with this phone??
I cannot replicate this problem with the same SIM in other phones.

Hi, we have a few E52's and one E55 at work but they never behave like that. I remember I had such signal issues with the Samsung galaxy s. - This was a known issue with it, but it wasn't as bad as the iphone 4.
Do you run it on 3g or GSM? It' should not really matter but try both and check the behavior.
It could be a faulty antenna, and since the loss of reception is that marked, it looks like it.
What you could try is to check if there are any updates for your device and try updating it, but I cannot remember seeing any of this problems with older fw versions on our E52/55's.

E52 email delete problem

While on other Nokia phones (such as N97), on trying to delete a received email, an option appears asking "delete ONLY PHONE" or "delete from Phone AND SERVER", on E52 there is no such option.
As a result, if user is out of office and deletes the received messages, then the messages are deleted not only from phone but FROM SERVER too
I already lost valuable emails this way, cause I retrived them on my E52 being out of office, then deleted them and when I went back to office all emails were missing from the server.
I cannot believe that Nokia did not imply this option to such a business phone as E52.
Do I miss something?
Any answer from official person and/or users who faced the same problem?

Unfortunately, when I read a mail on my E52 and don't delete it from the phone, when I return to my office and retrive my mails on outlook, it does NOT show as read.
Furthermore if I delete it on the phone, it does NOT go to the deleted folder of outlook.
In case that I mark all messages on the phone as "unread" (after reading them) and then delete them from the phone (E52), then when I return to office and connect to outlook, all deleted messages do NOT appear either to the incoming or to the deleted mail folder.
My concern is why Nokia did not imply on E52 the same mail delete method as in N97 (asking if user likes to delete it only from phone or both from phone and server).
This becomes a great problem, when the mailbox service is a gmail, or hotmail one, where each time you connect to your mailbox from the phone, it retrives EVERY mail residing in the incoming mail folder and if you make the mistake to delete any of them, it permanently dissapears from the mailbox

After warranty: permanent fix Yoga loose screw problem before case breaks

Yoga laptops tend to use tiny 2mm case screws and they often fall out. The screws in the rear secure the hinge and once that becomes loose the case will eventually break. Others may be interested in a permanent fix because it's mechanically impossible for these screws to stay in place: they are obviously underdimensioned both in diameter and in length.
After I had my broken case replaced by Lenovo, at my own expense, the screw in the left corner soon worked itself out again. Here's how I fixed it, drilling all the way through the existing hole, not pretty, but it has worked well over several months and it saves from regularly having the case break. (It's $280 each time. Lenovo has officialy never seen the problem, at least in my correspondance with them. It is a customer abuse issue.)
The materials for the fix run to about 25 cents: a #6 screw and a nut. I had to file away at the lid to make room for the nut. Also, the screw needs to be cut and filed. The screw cannot be completely countersunk. Extra protection is necessary at the underside of the case.
Bolting the bottom case sandwich this way holds the hinge in place.

Follow-up: as others have experienced, Lenovo does apparently not accept loose or missing screws or consequental dammage as a valid warranty claim.
Indeed, I received the message from Lenovo: "After further diagnosis, our repair engineers found damages on your computer that is not covered by the Lenovo limited warranty."
Yet, I had very clearly explained that the mechanical damage was the result of a missing screw.
Thus my extended warranty claim was easily denied, because this warranty extends the original warranty!! More wasted work.
So, I have my Yoga back, though, for almost three hundred dollars. The repair was fine. Nightmare is over. But I won't hide my feelings: I'm profoundly unhappy this treatment. Also, I'm abstaining from using the Yoga in tablet mode: it's simply not sturdy enough, the flexing of the case will lead to the same problem again.
Luckily, as a laptop it works quite well!

ADE/ACS ePub cover problem

Hi,
I'm having a problem when packaging an ePub in Content Server.
When loaded directly into Digital Editions, it displays normally, however when I add it to Content Server and get it with the DRM applied, it doesn't display the cover image (neither the thumbnail) and mentions the following in Item Info:
"The document appears to have minor errors that might cause it to be displayed incorrectly."
The ePub was converted from MOBI to EPUB with Calibre. I've tried with and without SVG cover and both doesn't work. It uses a cover.jpg file provided by the author as the cover image.
Is there a way to debug it in Digital Editions or even in Content Server (I receive no messages claiming validation problems)? Has anyone had this problem already?

To clarify, we are a small not-for-profit publisher, and we are interested in distributing our titles in epub format. Generally speaking, the cover preview is embedded in an a particular directory inside the epub file. Most book readers will recognize the cover preview and render it correctly. Unfortunately, as of the most recent update, iBooks has stopped doing so. Does anyone know why, or how to fix our files so that they render correctly in iBooks, as well as other book readers?

E52 GPS camera problem

If there is any application, which uses GPS, in background and then camera is used (with geotagging enabled), background GPS application hangs. Afterwards, it also is not possible to start another instance of any application which uses GPS (including camera application, if it were shut down). Occasionally camera application itself hangs (but this behaviour is not reliably repeatable). GPS functionality after that can only be restored by device restart. Any other applications, which uses GPS, does not interferes with each other. If location does not changes, device some times does not hangs up slower than if device were moving (GPS position changing).
Applications tested were: built in GPS application, OVI maps, sports tracker.

I am having the same problem, when I take photo on my E52 when using SportsTrakcer
the SportsTracker quits to track, only Time runs on SportsTracker. I have to restart E52 to
get the gps to work in SportsTracker.
I have heard this error from other who uses SportsTracker/camera on E52.
I have all the newest software/firmware on my E52.

E52 black, charge problem

I bought a black E52 but I have a problem.
When I connect the charger to the phone and the phone is off, the battery is NOT recharged and the USB port crashes and also if I start the phone the battery is never charged more (the USB port does not work anymore also if I connect the phone to the computer and the phone is not detected by it). Now if I want charge the battery or use the phone with the computer I must do a Normal or Hard Reset.
Is there anyone that has my same problem ?
PS: But I've seen that when I have the charger problem the USB port works because if I put the charger to the phone off, the battery icon is displayed but it not charge and if I connect the phone to computer with USB the phone is not detect.

E52 Battery Strange problem

I have strange battery problem with my E52 since purchase of set. After few minutes of usage it drops from full charge to low battery indicator, nothing in between. If I use same battery in other phone it works normally for 3-4days.
If phone is switched off for few second, battery returns to full but againt this works for few minutes of talk time and again back to no charge. There is frequent shutdowns with no charge.
Nokia Service centre has no idea on this. They formatted it and reloaded software but problem remains. I have updated sofware myself. I have hard resetted few times using key combination but nothing has solved this problem.
I purchased this E52 for battery life and it is virtually unusable due to this strange problem.
Anyone has got any idea on solving this. Please help.

I have tried different battery and charger but to no effect and used energy profiler also.no exceptional usage of battery and chance of short circuit is unlikely as actually battery is not discharged. I just switch it off and turn it on and it is back to normal. And after little use it is again low battery or no charge.
Nokia Service center just formatted and reloaded software and it worked fine for a month or so. They do not seem to acknowledge this problem at all.
Now i just put it on charge after every few hours to use it but thoroughly disappointed with Nokia. I swear this it is my last Nokia and will advice everyone to just dump Nokia.

5.1.1 Style cover problem. Spotify widget.

Hi. Since the latest upgrade I have a problem with the spotify lock screen widget when using style cover. The problem is that nothing happens when I touch the buttons on the widget. I can see that the widget react when I push the buttons by a small bright ring of light around the button. But nothing happens. Everything is working fine when I am not using the style cover. The original lock screen widget is working fine. I did a factory reset and install everthing again but I still have the same problem. 5.1.1 bug?

I think it's a compatibility issue from Spotify widget, but I can't confirm this for sure. Check Spotify's Play Store page to see if any other users reported the same problem.

Album Cover problem on 160 GB iPod Classic

Ever since I got this iPod I have had an issue with the album covers showing on the iPod. At first they would show fine everywhere, then they just started showing fine in the lists. Once I would click on a track the album cover would look similar to "snow" that is seen on TV when you are not getting a signal. Now, the only things that have covers on the iPod are songs I bought from iTunes, but any of my CD's I imported do not show up at all even though most of them do have covers when I look at the Cover Flow in the iTunes Library. What can be done to fix this issue?

when you turn down the volume on any apple product to "zero" with headphones plugged in, they assume it means you want the minimum audible volume. if you don't want to hear it, unplug your headphones or just don't push play. it's not a malfunction of equipment, it's operator idiocracy.

Ipod album cover problem "An unknown error occurred (-50)

I recently spent a few hours going through amazon and google image search finding album covers to each of my mp3s no purchased through the Itunes store. After I finally got all of them, I went into Itunes options and clicked "display album art" I recieved the error
"The Ipod William Tell cannot be updated. An unknown error occurred (-50)"
I have unchecked display album art, let it delete whatever was on there, and rechecked it and have recieved the same error.
I've searched around this and other forums and noone has seemed to have this problem with album covers. Any help would be more than greatfully appreciated.

I had the same problem and after a search in google i found this:

If you are getting the same error I was getting, then the solutions is a quite tedious one. You need to go through your entire library starting at the top.
First make sure the ablum art box in the bottom left of iTunes is set to "selected song" and not "now playing". Now highlight the first song at the top and use the down arrow and look at the album art for each song. I have 4000 songs in my library and I found maybe 3 or 4 album art glitches.
The glitches are those songs that show a blank white box for the album art. Don't mistake this for those songs that just have no art attached. These say "Drag album art here." When you find those few white boxes, simply right click the song and go to "get info" and then the artwork tab. Click the white blank and delete it. That's it.
After you do this you should be able to add artwork to your iPod without the error message. I hope this helps you out. -CK

I have managed to fix this error. I have Windows 2000, but I think it should be OK for any Windows version.
1. Make sure iTunes is closed.
2. Move My Documents/My Music/iTunes/iTunes* (2 files, *.itl, and *.xml) to Desktop
3. Start up iTunes, it will create the two files above.
4. In iTunes: File :: Import...
5. Select .xml instead of text.
6. Select the iTunes Music Library.xml
ITunes stopped complaining.

I had this error as well. Here's how I fixed it.
Apple itunes uses internet explorer (windows version) and therefore uses IE's proxy settings.
If you're behind a proxy you can change your settings to directly connect and then that may fix the problem. (I was using proximitron to filter ads, which went to my local fastnet web accellerator (dial up decompressor) which linked to a remote dialup comrpessor which actually got the internet sites).
Turning that off in IE's settigns (Tools, Options, Connections, Settings, uncheck use proxy) worked for me.

NOKIA E75 usb cover problem for me

Hello,
I can't seem to know how to open the usb cover to connect the data cable.I mean I NEARLY BOKE MY PREVIOUS PHONE N85s cover as in the E75 case I don't know from where to pull the cover as it is not written in the user guide and I don't want to take chances as after my past experience I am very suspicious.I know it is a silly inquiry but if someone can help me I reaaly would appreciate it. if a link or pic to show how please.Thanks

I am having the exact same issue.
The Ovi store was installed first via the N8 built in software, then uninstalled and reinstalled using the latest Ovi version from Nokia's webinstaller download, but still no success with the Ovi connection.
The other file transfer modes work fine 'media transfer & 'mass storage' but the Ovi store is still unable to run due to Windows VISTA not being able to locate the drivers for the N8 software. (despite being installed!)
After accepting the prompt for Windows to locate the drivers... The same error as RayMond_021 screen shot appears.
"COMPUTER SAYS.... NO!"
Super frustrating! A brand new $800 phone and I can't even access the promised software (Ovi maps) that encouraged me to buy it!?
PLEASE HELP US!!!!!
