  • Converting Framemaker 10 book to PDF produces blurry graphics

I've tried troubleshooting this all day and am not coming up with any resolutions. I have a 100 pg book with many screenshots and diagrams. I have imported by reference and typically have to resize on import to fit the anchored frame. I try not to drag to resize. The graphics in the resulting PDF look blurry.  Does anyone have any tips on how to sharpen these up? Should I use the PDF Printer with special settings as opposed to the HP printer for producing the PDF. Are there special settings I should be looking at in FrameMaker, Acrobat, printer setup, etc. so they will play well together?  There are so many settings and I don't have the expertise (or support) to make modifications.
If anyone has any suggestions that might help, I love to hear from you.  Thanks!

  • Blurry graphics HELP!!

I am trying to lay a graphic over some video on my timeline. When i first put it in my timeline, it looks normal. After i render, it gets all blurry??? I searched the posts on here and tried some suggestions like putting it into an uncompressed 8 bit timeline. I still get the same thing??? I even tried turning to mpeg in compressor without rendering, but i get the same thing in the final dvd. a blurry image?? The final project will be on DVD. Please help!!! Thank you.

thanks guys for your quick responses. i can't afford a true NTSC monitor so i rely on my tv. at the time of my first post, my setup wasnt fully hooked up, but i just got it onto my tv and it is not as blurry as it is on my monitor, but can definitely be sharper! To Steve the original graphic was emailed to me as a pdf at 72 dpi. it may seem that since it is a compressed format that that could be my problem but the graphic looks sharp in photoshop and in FCP when it is not rendered or playing. I took the pdf and saved it as a psd in photoshop to import into FCP. is their somethin i could do better?? D Gilmore what should i export it out of as a lossless QT + alpha?? photoshop, FCP or QT itself. thanks again!!

  • Blurry Graphics

    Hello everyone,
I am having a major problem with some power point graphics that I am importing into FCP. I have converted the graphics into every format that power point with let me and when I import them into FCP the look like squeeze. What I mean by they look like squeeze is that they are really blurry. The client has commented on this already and I need a solution fast. Can anyone help?

Brent, I'm fairly new to FCP and I'm not a computer expert by far, but I have been making some teaching videos in 16:9 format and importing individual Powerpoint slides and the quality has been very acceptable. Here's how I've done it:
Preferences - Advanced Resolution Settings: 600 dpi; Image Quality: Best
    File - Page Setup - Size 16 x 9 inches; Orientation: landscape
    File - Make Movie - Movie options - Size & quality - Optimization: Quality; Movie dimensions: 1750 x 980
(I have no idea why 1750x980 is the correct size for what I'm doing, but I arrived at that by trial and error. It's the only size that fills the screen; selecting "current screen size" leaves space on the sides.)
Making the individual slide a movie gives it a 2 second duration and I just stack them in the timeline to fit my needs. Like I said, I'm not sure if this will help you or if it's the best approach, but it has worked for me.

  • Blurry graphics (iOS 4.3.3)

First, I was on the Updates tab in the App Store and everything was perfectly fine. Then, I searched something on the Search tab, and all of a sudden all app icons turned blurry, as well as all pictures and graphical material in Safari, all pictures and photos in apps (such as TwitPics and pictures in news apps), the maps in Maps. It is safe to say that every graphical material is blurry, except for the app icons on the Home Screen, pictures in Camera Roll and album covers in iPod. I guess switching tabs caused this problem, although this does not seem believable, but there is nothing else that I did.  I have tried restarting my iPhone 4, however, this did not work. I do not want to reset my iPhone yet, hoping that there is some solution that does not involve resetting. I am looking forward to any answer.

You may need to restore as a new device.

  • Graphics Distortion in Presenter 7 and Breeze

I am new to using Breeze, my company uses it. I noticed that the graphics in our .ppt presentations are blurry quite often when we publish the Breeze presentations. We usually insert .gif or .jpg graphics (usually screen shots of applications). I decided to give Presenter 7 and PowerPoint 2007 a try to see if that resolved our issue. It did not.
Does anyone know what we should be doing with static graphics to improve the quality of the graphics (make them crisp instead of blurry) in the final product?

    Rachael,
Quick question: are you using any special stylizing/treatment of your graphics in PowerPoint?  I ask becuase I've seen instances where using effects like drop shadows, glows, etc, (which are available in PPT 07) actually result in low-quality, often blurry, graphics after publishing to Presenter content.
Same goes for taking screen shots and then applying lines/strokes to those graphic elements; it just introduces more .jpg artifacts rendering the graphics practically useless.
I should also mention that after hours of testing, I've also witnessed grouped objects in PPT look blurry after publishing, so I typically look to ungroup whatever/whenever possible.  If that can't be done, then usually it means a trip to Illustrator or Photoshop to manipulate my graphics.
Bottom line, any time specialized treatment is necessary you may have to look outside of PPT to create your graphics; then import as usual and see if that helps any.
In any event, just thought I'd throw that out there.

  • 32inch HDTV LCD

Hello all - Im fairly new to the whole HDTV area, while ive had experience with one before but a blotch of dead pixel filled the screen and got annoying watching videos or using it as a pc monitor...ive found two monitors im interested in purchasing on a budget at the moment to use as a Computer Monitor and basic entertainment usage [dvd player, general tv watching]
    1. http://microcenter.com/singleproduc...uctid=0245608
    2.http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage....=1140392384567
Im trying to figure out if those would be beneficial for a pc monitor im currently using a Apple Mac Pro 2.66 quad core with a ATI X1900XT video card which suopports high resolutions but form my previous experience with a 32inch lcd hdtv monitor the best i could get was 1280x768 or something really bizarre like that and stretched out all the text and graphics and was unbearable to workon for video editing and applications though video showed upw ell as a pc monitor ...
I have a vga cable and a HDMi-to-DVI cable and was wondering waht would be the best option to use to get a good resolution as a pc monitor as im using both OS X and XP Pro SP2 on the same machine
If anyone has any good tips or pointers i should look into before purchasing either of those monitors id appreciate it and how to set up the full resolution with the monitor and video card as im not entirely sure how to get the best aspect out of them - as ive seen alot of pcs with 32inch hdtv and they have pretty clear set ups without saturation or blurry graphics and choppiness and can read websites and text pretty good.
    Thanks!!
    APPLE:
    2.66Ghz QuadCore
    2gb RAM
    2x500gb Harddrive
ATI X1900XT PCI EXPRESS VIDEO CARD
    1xSuperDrive
    MacOsX & WinXp Pro Sp2

as a main monitor, i wouldnt get an HDTV. its jsut a personal preference though, i know the price makes them tempting. I am currently using a 20" apple cinema and a 42" wesitnghouse HD Video LCD monitor (professional quality HD-Ready TV). any HDTV will work fine, but you should consider the pixel pitch before you buy

  • Images are not clear in pdf output

    Hi,
Images are blurred once a pdf file is generated. Don't understand why. Please let me know a solution to get pictures with better clarity after generating a pdf .
I used to shrink the images a bit to set them in the Framemaker area. Once the pdf is generated, the quality is blur.
Please advice how to get images with good clarity and visibility.
    Thanks

  • Air 3.3 beta PC audio distortion / Air 3.1 / 3.2 Mac black screen issue

    Hi there,
I've recently released a large game coded in Flash Builder with Air (www.lonesurvivor.co.uk), and I used Air 3's captive runtime feature to bundle it for Mac and PC.
The initial build used Air 3.2 and for a large proportion of OSX users, there were no visuals at all, just sound and the game obviously working underneath.  This caused a very large support issue, and took several weeks to deal with, as well as having to maintain a seperate Projector version for those for whom the Air version wouldn't work.  I wish I had known that the game would fail on some Macs, but unfortunately the issue showed up on none of the ones tested.
I'm about to launch the updated build of the game which uses Air 3.3 beta 1, as it seems to fix the black screen issue for all those who experienced it.  I was very happy that Adobe have managed to iron this out, even if there was no response to the bug I entered into bugbase.
The problem is, on a final test on XP SP2, the 3.3 beta version produces what appears to be filtered graphics... which is how the Mac version has always appeared, but the PC version of the game seemed to use what looked like nearest-neighbour sampling in Flash's fulllscreen upscaling, which looked good for the zoomed pixel art in this game.
This is a small cosmetic issue, but there is another one whhich is far more severe - the audio has become extremely distorted, and is now unlistenable.
So with 3.2 giving me no visual on Macs and 3.3 giving me unlistenable audio on PCs, I will now have to maintain two versions again.  I really would like to keep one project I can quickly make changes to, but the seperate problems in different platforms means I lose out on the great cross-platform functionality of Air.  I'm hoping this is a known issue, but I couldn't find it on google / bugbase / these forums.
Could these two issues be related - is hardware acceleration not working or something?  Somehow I think it is, because the XP test machine is quite old, and tended to fall over with the game running in software mode in a Flash projector.
I tried swapping out the Air 3.3 runtime for the previous 3.2 I shipped with, and editing the XML desciption to make sure it was set to use that and, sure enough, the game worked as it did before.  So there is definitely something up with the beta.  I'm just glad I caught this problem before I shipped as going to save me thousands of emails of support!
So I guess my question is - is this a known issue?  And if so, do you have any workarounds / or are Adobe working on a fix?

    Hi Chris,
Thanks for the prompt response - I guess I should have tried the forums instead of the bugbase last time...  It really was a support nightmare!  Not least because I had to deal with the problem of saved games being wiped by over-zealous browsers on the backup Projector version I was supplying Mac customers with.
Fortunately the Mac Air 3.3 runtime works great.
Out of interest - there is still the difference in GPU scaling used between Mac and Windows though, which there always has been since it was introduced (is this a known issue btw?)
Which leads me to the 3.3 beta 2 - I tried it out last night, and while it corrected the blurry graphics (the scaling appeared nearest neighour again on XP), the audio suffered the same distortion.
In addition, I had several other XP / Vista / Win 7 users test out the build, and the user with XP SP3 also suffered the issue.
So I'm planning to ship the PC version with 3.1 as it worked well for the first release, and use 3.3 beta 1 for the Mac version.  Unfortunately I've run out of time and need to get it out there!
I'd definitely be interested in getting into the pre-release program.  I'll write you an email and send the builds of the game too.
    Cheers,
    Jasper

  • All graphics / vector in Save for Web are getting blurry / unsharp from Illustrator

All graphics / vector in Save for Web are getting blurry / unsharp from Illustrator. Same problem with save for web in Photoshop. Frustrating to be working as a designer and not be able to create sharp logos for mail sign, word templates, PPT templates etc etc.  I purchased this Adobe Creative Cloud package in Sept, and are working on my Mac HD, OSX, Vers 10.9.4. I have been using the same programs on a PC for years and never had this same problem. Its frustrating!! What to do??

gif, jpg and png are pixel formats, so please clarify what the problem is supposed to be.
Screenshots or posted files might help.

  • Can you open a Jpeg graphic and reduce its size without it becoming pixilated and blurry?

Hi I am new to Illustrator and photoshop.
I am designing a birthday poster on A4.  I recently received a graphic of a bird that is in JPE and PNG format. When I
opened the graphic it was huge - as big as the screen and looked fantastic, smooth outline and crystal clear.  Its a great
graphic but I want to make a border of small birds to outline the poster.  When I downsized the graphic by transforming
it to 10% its original size it looked really rubbish - all blurry and when i printed it out it was not very good at all!
I'm obviously completely new to Adobe software so i don't know all the correct terminology.  Basically I just want the graphic
of the bird to be alot  smaller and look as smooth and sleek as it does when its massive.  The graphic is 1200 x 1200 pixels
and i want it to be about 50 x 50.  How do I do it?  Can it be done? Or is all my efforts in vain!!!
A few people have said I need photoshop but when I tried it on there it still didn't work.  I'm wondering if its the graphic
    that is the problem.
Thanks in advance for your help
    Lauren

Go back to photoshop open the image in the in Phooshop then
    1 go to Image>Image Size
2 uncheck at the bottom left the option to resample
3 make certain Constrain Proportions is checked
4 to the right of the width input field there is three drop downs on the top one select percent
5 then in the width change the percentage to 10%
6 now look at the resolution field if it is more than 300 or 355 ppi at this point check the resample art and change resolution setting to 300 or 355 ppi or what ever your printer prefers. It is not likely with this reduction it will be smaller than 300ppi.
7 now save the file with a different name using the Save As command.
8 place this file in Illustrator and make it symbol now place the symbols instances instead of copying it each time.

  • Importing graphics... blurry or possible to make clickable?

Admittedly, I am no expert with this software but Ive been using it for over 10 years and I am stumped (probably due to exhaustion and a failing memory). What I am trying to do is so simple, and yet I cant seem to find the right process for the end result I am hoping for.
I am writing a book, which has alot of images, and which will be published online as a pdf. The images I have are mostly scanned maps from other books; they are large maps with loads of detail that I need to show. However/as a result, when I fit the image to the available space on the page it is (as to be expected) very blurry.
    1. I am actually fine with that because what I would really like is for the image to be clickable - meaning that when a reader clicks on the image in the final pdf of the book, a full size version of the image in all its crisp and detailed glory pops up in paint or the windows image viewer or whatever. The full sized pop up would have to be native to the file as part of the book - it couldnt be a URL. Not even sure if that is possible but I swear Ive seen other pdf ebooks with this feature, so there must be a way.
    2. If #1 isnt possible, how can I get these images to at least be readably clear as imported files?
Can anyone advise/guide me on this? Thanks in advance.

It can be done, but you have to manually create the hypertext link from your low-res image map to the final high-res one. Since FM only allows one physical page size per file, you will need to include your high-res maps as separate FM files in the book.
Use an image processing application such as Photoshop (or perhaps even RoboScreenCapture's Image > Scale option depending upon the filetype) to create a low-res version of your map image.
You don't mention which version of FM that you're using, so there could be two ways of doing this. You first have to prepare your high-res map with a hypertext destination marker.
In FM11, you can use the new Graphics > Hotspot Properties... option to make the low-res image a link to your full map that is in a separate FM file. See: http://help.adobe.com/en_US/FrameMaker/10.0/Using/WSB3051E65-851E-428e-AE40-17149BFE534F.h tml for details.
In earlier versions of FM, you would have to place an empty text frame (Fill of None) overtop your low-res image and then insert a single hypertext marker to link to the detailed map in a separate FM file. See: http://help.adobe.com/en_US/FrameMaker/10.0/Using/WSd817046a44e105e21e63e3d11ab7f7960b-7e8 3.html for details.
You will probably have to add the high-res maps as an appendix to your book file.
For some ideas of what can be done with FM to PDF special features, see Shlomo Perets showcase at his site: http://www.microtype.com/showcase.html and expand the Multimedia Assistant section. Note: Shlomo's tools make this easy to do within FM, but a number of these features can also be done manually at the FM end as well.

  • Imported graphics look blurry in playback

This just started creating headaches for me. I have high-resolution graphics (1920x1080 HD resolution) that I have imported into Final Cut Pro X and they look fine in preview mode. However when I go to play it back after render they look blurry. The frame rate info says 60fps -- is this the problem? Is there a way to force it to have a frame rate of 29.97fps? I have created several Final Cut projects in the past that have incorporated similar graphics and have never had this issue.
Any clues on how to fix this problem? Thanks.

OK I feel stupid. Don't know how that pref setting got changed, must have happened in one of the recent updates. Thanks.

  • Graphics are large and blurry

I recently noticed that the graphics in Firefox have become large and blurry. It's like they are all being zoomed automatically. I can't pinpoint exactly when this started, but I'm sure it hasn't been like this forever, because it would have driven me crazy long ago! I didn't change any of the settings myself, so I wonder if it has something to do with a Firefox update.
Anyway, when looking at websites, I have to zoom out twice from the default zoom state before images look crisp again.
However, the issue also applies to graphics that are part of the Firefox interface. For example, the icons in my bookmarks toolbar are blurry. So are the home icon, the downloads icon, and other built-in graphics that I can't zoom.

    Hi jscher2000!
Thank you for your fast reply. I already noticed, that there are these Addons to solve that problem.
I was just wondering, because I firstly thought, that it is a bug/error. It's not a problem for me to do a workaround, but what if thousands of other Users have the same problem after that update to Firefox 22, especially when they are limited by their bad IT-skills/KnowHow and don't know how to solve that. And instead of searching for a solution, they'll maybe change to another Browser(Chrome, Opera, etc.)
Therefore I was confused that Firefox is doing that.
    Best regards,

  • Why are pre-built graphics blurry on retina displays?

I have designed multiple vector infographics in Inkpad (iPad app) and imported them into Adobe Muse. The desktop version of graphics looks great. iPad version is blurry and pixelated.
No matter how I export the grpahics (ie: .png, .jpeg, .gif) it is always way below par on iPad. I have also tried making the images much larger in AI, still nothing is working. This is extremely frustrating and seems like it should be more simple. Is there a work around for importing .svg into muse sites via the "Insert HTML" feature?
So far I have had the best luck saving in PNG-24
    The website is viztech.businesscatalyst.com

Do they still look blurry on the "best" setting for Retina?
The problem I see is, there are many applications around that were created a decade ago, and the developers have moved on. These are still valuable applications for many people. Are they just always going to look crappy on the Retina MacBook? That sounds pretty undesirable.
The difference with the iPhone is, the Retina was an upgrade, but didn't make existing applications look worse.
