E60 Will Not Dial w/o a Reboot

Irregularly and Infrequently, my E60 will not allow me to dial, either directly from the keypad (no numbers can be entered!) or from the contact list (nothing happens when the contact is selected for dialing). Some non-numeric keys seem to work OK at such times, except that the use of them to navigate through the Contact list still doesn't allow me to actually place a call. The Green Call Key, however, does nothing at these times.
Sometimes this problem clears up by randomly punching the non-numeric keys (back, etc.) but not always. Just now, I had to power-off/on to get the thing to dial. I saw this problem noted in one review, and I've experienced it several times. Not a disaster, but a serious annoyance.
Ideas, please? I'm running the latest firmware.

I did once reluctantly take my phone into a Nokia Center, suspecting that it would be a useless endeavor. I waited in a queue which allowed me to take yet another ticket to wait in another queue. When I learned that the wait time was in excess of one hour, I left.
But, the problem seems to have resolved, though how and why I'm not sure.
Good luck to you. FWIW: The boiler-plate response "Take it to a Nokia Service Center" which Nokia and others hand out so freely is the most unimaginative and least helpful advice I've encountered. Unless you are seriously under-employed and bored out of your mind due to an excess of free time, I can't imagine why anyone would choose to spend time at such a place. My conversations with reps at such centers does not encourage me to place any confidence in either their willingness or ability to diagnose or correct the sorts of problems I've encountered. I've found better help in the various forums dedicated to Nokia phones.

I could use a little direction..
I have a 2821 "COMHS00ARB" SN: FTX1302A1UP
It has a VIC2-4FXO on port zero I have an analog phone line that functions perfectly, on ports 1,2,3 I get dial tone and they will receive calls but will not dial out.
other interesting observations:
1: If I connect a laptop to GE 0/1 I get not LAN Lights port GE 0/0 is fine and is the uplink
2: the Gig E port on the NME port I can not get LAN lights if I plug cable in from laptop
3: Aux on front of chassis same no lights on LAN
My first thought is to replace the VIC2-4FXO card to see if its faulty
My second thought is that maybe the 2821 has taken a hit from lightening.. however all internal phones seam to be fully functional, although when I select the line on the corresponding LCD hard button I do not get the hard button to light, even on the working line?
Any directions would be greatly appreciated,
Also if I replace card do I need to worry about firmware versions?

First this:
In EnergySaver deselect "put the hard disk to sleep when possible". You must logout after the setting to make this effective.
This probably will not solve it, but let it be deselected.
When the issue is still there:
Open Terminal;
copy/paste following command (after every command hit "enter" key)
pmset -g | grep hibernatemode
when the answer is not 3 write it down;
then copy/paste following command
sudo pmset -a hibernatemode 0
reboot
Open Terminal;
copy/paste following command
sudo rm /var/vm/sleepimage
after that type EXIT in Terminal and close Terminal.
This does following for you:
it will set the hibernatemode to zero: the sleepimage (a copy of the complete ram) will not be written and the space on the HD is freed up.
This sleepimage does not do anything for you but taking time at sleep/hibernate and startup. It is an old remnant of earlier days.

After startup firefox will not open immediately sometimes must reboot laptop ??

after start-up I double click on the desktop icon or right click to open and FF will not open. I then must reboot the laptop and it usually opens. It seems to reopen ok later after closing the browser during the day. I had a box appear on opening for awhile that showed some upgrades for some apps (that I always declined) and then it went away after while. Sometimes when I go to open the box appears very briefly and as just a border of the box and then disappears. Could that be the reason for the hangup? Any input would be helpful. Should I maybe just reload the latest upgrade. thanks ahead of time helpful people. :o))

Try a clean reinstall.
* Download a fresh Firefox copy and save the file to the desktop.
* Firefox 7.0.x: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all.html
* Uninstall your current Firefox version.
* Do not remove personal data when you uninstall the current version or you lose your bookmarks and other data in the profile folder.
* Remove the Firefox program folder before installing that newly downloaded copy of the Firefox installer.
* It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.
Your bookmarks and other profile data are stored elsewhere in the Firefox Profile Folder and won't be affected by a reinstall, but make sure that you do not select to remove personal data if you uninstall Firefox.

I've been using FF for years and love it. On my work PC, FF just started this funkyness.
The issue:
I start FF and after a few seconds, I notice it stops responding, I go to "Win Task manager", see the firefox.exe *32, try to end task but it will not, nothing happens.
I try to start a new instance of FF, gives error "Firefox is already running but is not responding" I click close , then another error "your firefox profile cannot be loaded...."
The only way to end the FF task is to reboot PC, then when I try again it does the same thing.
Things I've tried with no luck:
-Updated java
-went in the appsdata/......Mozilla/profiles / removed read only attribute (but I noticed when I go back, its checked again...??)
-complete FF un-install, cleaned registry of all Mozilla FF content, deleted all FF folders, re-installed as admin
-run FF in safe mode
-work network connection or private SSH connection to home has same prob

Apple Extreme will not dial ISP

I use a G5 and Powerbook on a home network with AirPort Extreme. All worked fine last night, this morning when I tried to connect, the AirPort extreme tries to contact the ISP, but does not dial the phone. (yes, I am in a location that forces me to still use slow dial up).
If I disconnect, like now, and use the computers internal modem, all is fine so the problem must be with the Airport.
Any positive help will be appreciated.

In the menu bar the message was "connecting to your ISP". It ran this message even though it never dialed the phone.
This PM I disconnected everything including the powerpack to the Airport. Waited and then restarted. All is well as I am now using it to respond.

Thanks for the question. I understand that your iPhone 4s is not functioning properly, and that you wish to try to make a backup before troubleshooting. From the information you have provided, it sounds like the device is indeed turning on and responding when plugged in, however the display is not lighting up. Have you attempted to plug the iPhone into a computer with iTunes? If iTunes recognizes the phone, you can attempt to back it up:

Firefox will not load but other browsers will. Task master does not show it's open and it will not load even if I reboot.

The cursor continues to spin then stops. Will not load.

Open the Windows Task Manager > Processes Tab and see if there is a '''firefox.exe''' process running, when you can't open Firefox and you find it necessary ti restart your PC. When you try to open Firefox and a firefox.exe process is "hung", you should get a warning message that ''' "Firefox is already running" '''.

Retina Macbook Pro will not sleep or shutdown, and reboots randomly

My 15" RMBP will not shutdown or sleep and sometimes will restart randomly or restart when it is commanded to sleep. Forcing it to shutdown by holding down the power key is the only way to shut it off. It does this when I've created a new user. I've tried quitting processes, have run ClamXav, have tried to reset the SMC. It has displayed this type of behavior since I bought it in the summer of 2012, but lately it has become much worse, (refusing to shutdown is new). Is anyone else having the same problem or can suggest a solution?

Start by removing "Kaspersky," which is worse than useless and should be removed even if it's not causing the problem.
Remove "Kaspersky Security" by following the instructions on this page. If you have a different version of the product, the procedure may be different. The product includes a Safari extension that may not be removed by the uninstaller.
Back up all data before making any changes.

Basic troubleshooting steps outlined in the user guide are restart, reset, restore from backup, restore as new device. Try each of these steps until your problem is solved. If these steps fail to solve your issue, then you'll need to bring your phone into Apple (or an authorized service provider in your area) for evaluation.

UC520 FXS ports will not dial out

Not sure what is happening on this one. UC520 latest sw pack has decided that the onboard FXS ports will no longer dial out. Dialing inturnal extensions is fine both ways. DID's incoming to those FXS ports also work. Dialing access code 9 for the PRI simply no go. I have rebooted the UC520 I have even changed the FXS seetings from Fax to Common area and back again seeing if that would clear up any bugs in the config, but still no luck.
So simply put FXS ports on UC520 will no longer allow outbound calls.

Various settings will not save after restart or reboot.

Macbook Pro 15 Early 2011 here. I keep modifying my dock and some of my trackpad settings, but everytime I restart my computer it goes back to the default state. Safari also opens with the same webpages everytime, as if it's stuck in the past or something. Is this a permissions issue? If not, what should I do to fix it?

What your describing with the Dock and trackpad sounds like either wrong permissions or corrupted preference files (.plist).
Download the free OnyX here and run all the first checks, then do ALL the cleaning and maintainence tasks and make SURE to reboot when your done!

After you do that run OnyX again and under the Verify is a preference file checker, check the box that says "show only corrupt .plist" files and run that.

Once you do those two things, reboot the machine and try to set your preferences again in the Dock and trackpad.
Another way is to open the Users/Library/Preferences folder and look for

and deleting those files that way.
Far as Safari, that could be a feature to open all previous web pages, OnyX will clean that out for you when you ran it, but likely it will do it again when you use Safari as it's trying to be helpful or something should be able to disable it somewhere.

Ipad will not charge. Stuck in reboot loop.

I have an iPad with retina display, 32gb, AT&T.
A few days ago the iPad was left over night with about a 45% charge. The next morning the iPad battery was dead. I plugged it into the wall charger and left for the day. When I came home it still wasn't showing a charge. It seems to want to reboot, but it's stuck in a loop between thowing the red battery and the apple logo, then my home screen picture flashes and it goes back to the red battery. The iPad has been plugged in tthe entire time.

Could be the charger, cable or iPad. Plug the USB cable into your computer. It may say "Not Charging", however, it is charging slowly and will verify that the cable is good.
Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)
The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W or 12W (5W on Mini) USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). I downloaded the Firefox 4 update and now can not open Firefox. I have had to go through google browser to reach Firefox. The screen keeps coming up with instructions to reboot after the download. I have done this several times. I can not find Firefox in my program list at this time .

She was on a call and went to end the call and the phone just turned off.
Left it on charge for an hour or so and nothing.
I tried the old reboot (home button and power button) and nothing
I tired with the sim out.
And with it plugged into a PC, opened iTunes and it didn't recognize that the phone was plugged in.
I tried my PC and nothing.
My phone charges and connects to both PC's
Tried holding the home button then plugging into PC
Tried holding the power button then into PC
I've now been trying different combinations for about 3 hours and now I'm all out of ideas.... :(
Please please can some help before Tuesday when I will have to find someone to repair it.

Sounds like faulty battery. Make Genius reservation and take to Apple for quick (minutes) free battery diagnostic testing. If you have Warranty or AppleCare the problem will be covered.
