E61 - Does it crash?

Hi, A friend of mine is looking to buy the Nokia E61 with TomTom software.
The questions i want to ask are.
1) Does the phone crash or shut down or restart or anything like that?
2) If i update to the latest firmware for my friend will the problems/bugs be fixed?
3) Overall do you think it is a good or bad phone to use?

It does more than crash.
This phone has the absolute worst stability of any phone I've had the (dis?)pleasure of using.
The original, version 1 firmware saw bluetooth crashing weekly, if not multiple times a week. It would simply stop talking to my bluetooth earpiece, and manually forcing a disconnect rendered bluetooth unusable on the phone due to the phone refusing to connect to any bluetooth device until it was restarted.
Messaging similarly crashes at random - open an email, and there's a good chance Messaging will simply die. I've seen cases where Messaging is in a half-dead state, where it'll show me a couple of folders, and will refuse to navigate anywhere or exit. Again, the only fix is (surprise!) a restart.
Version 3 of the firmware (the latest at time of writing) has improved bluetooth stability somewhat - but it's absolutely destroyed voice recognition. 'No match found' is now what I hear 99% of the time when trying to use voice recognition to dial an entry in my phonebook - I've wasted countless minutes at a time trying to make a simple phone call via voice recognition, and eventually just give up in disgust with most calls. My voice is the same as it was when using the v1 firmware, and I'm using the same bluetooth earpiece (Motorola H300) - the voice recognition issue began to rear it's ugly head while making my first phone call after updating to v3, and it's been with me ever since.
A device is only as good as the software running on it - and this phone is, simply put, a steaming pile of ****.
Perhaps this is simply a sad commentary on the state of software nowadays - I really do wonder if anyone really bothers doing quality control on the software they release. Then again, some companies appear to have a worse track record with this than others (are you listening, Nokia?).
End result: I do not recommend buying this phone. I spent far too much on it, considering the endless frustration it provides me.

I posted this on another thread. See if this works:
1) Uncheck "Backup previous version" in Keynote's Preferences.
2) Make a duplicate copy of your file that has issues and save it.
3) If you still get spinning wheels from switching between apps after editing or 10 seconds of inactivity, manually save with command+s. It may beach ball here but be patient and wait for it to finish! Try editing and resume doing work now.
Command+s may be a bit slow but I think that might be normal since the files are so big.

I think this is done by the browser when it is saving a temporary file and there's already a file with that exact name in the temp folder.

Itunes 11.2 ,all it ever does is crash!! Constantly.

Why does Safari crash?

Why does Safari crash on my internal start-up disk and not on a booted SuperDuper external disk?
Safari started behaving weird with very high CPU usage, then it refused to start up altogether, it doesn't even reach the safari icon when it crashes.
Did repair disk permissions. No good.
Around the same day i also lost the connection with my TimeMachine drive (third time this year). I've had it with timemachine.

Core dump are creates even though my server does not crash

I am having an issue with a large number of core dump files getting generated by jrockit that occupies the disk space daily almost 8 files are generated of size 150 to 800 MB
However, what amazes me is that the weblogic server does not crash
I have also checked the logs there where certain errors but not something that could crash my servers and the weblogic server was running all the time.
I know I can stop the generation of core dump files by using ulimit. But if I do so and if my Jrockit crashes It wont generate the core dump file that would be needed
My configuration is
a) WLS Version:10.3.2.0
b) OS Type: Oracle Solaris 10 on SPARC (64-bit)
c) JDK Vendor & Version: BEA JRockit(R) (build R27.6.5-32_o-121899-1.6.0_14-20091001-2106-solaris-sparcv9

If you are having issues with an Apple application such as iBooks freezing or quitting unexpectedly on your iPad, you may want to try some things to troubleshoot.
First, quit all running applications and test again -
iOS: Force an app to close
Next, I would try restarting the iPhone -
Turn your iOS device off and on (restart) and reset
If the issue is still present, you may want to restore the iPhone as a new device -

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad and start typing the name.
Step 1
For this step, the title of the Console window should be All Messages. If it isn't, select
          SYSTEM LOG QUERIES ▹ All Messages
from the log list on the left. If you don't see that list, select
          View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar at the top of the screen.
In the top right corner of the Console window, there's a search box labeled Filter. Initially the words "String Matching" are shown in that box. Enter the name of the crashed application or process. For example, if Safari crashed, you would enter "Safari" (without the quotes.)
Each message in the log begins with the date and time when it was entered. Select the messages from the time of the last crash, if any. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message by pressing command-V.
☞ The log contains a vast amount of information, almost all of which is irrelevant to solving any particular problem. When posting a log extract, be selective. A few dozen lines are almost always more than enough.
Please don't indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Please don't post screenshots of log messages—post the text.
☞ Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting.
Step 2
In the Console window, select
          DIAGNOSTIC AND USAGE INFORMATION ▹ User Diagnostic Reports
(not Diagnostic and Usage Messages) from the log list on the left. There is a disclosure triangle to the left of the list item. If the triangle is pointing to the right, click it so that it points down. You'll see a list of crash reports. The name of each report starts with the name of the process, and ends with ".crash". Select the most recent report related to the process in question. The contents of the report will appear on the right. Use copy and paste to post the entire contents—the text, not a screenshot.
I know the report is long, maybe several hundred lines. Please post all of it anyway.
If you don't see any reports listed, but you know there was a crash, you may have chosen Diagnostic and Usage Messages from the log list. Choose DIAGNOSTIC AND USAGE INFORMATION instead.
In the interest of privacy, I suggest that, before posting, you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header of the report, if it’s present (it may not be.)
Please don’t post other kinds of diagnostic report—they're very long and rarely helpful.

Right or control click the Safari app in the Applications folder then click Get Info.
In the Get Info panel, look for the Safari version number. If it's prior to Safari 6, updating to Safari 6 may help.

why does fcpx crash every time i try to edit titles/text?? I'm trying to wrap up a project for work and now fcpx thinks it needs to crash every time i click on a "title" to edit it. It's making the completion of this project nearly impossible.

nope, i'm just using the select tool "a" to move my titles .. if the inspector is open, the second i click on any title in any project the whole program crashes. but with the inspector closed i can move my titles at will without a crash. i'm not sure what's allowing me to manipulate titles since you've said Lion updates haven't fixed this function. and i'm not sure what's making fcpx crash to the ground every time i click a title with the inpector open. all i know is that this little loophole i've found is working for me and has allowed me to complete my project this morning which is awesome.

Skype not opening but when it does it crashes.

Please, run the DirectX diagnostics tool.
Go to Windows Start and in the Run box type dxdiag.exe and press the OK button. This will start the DirectX diagnostics program. Run this diagnostics and save the results to a file. Please, attach this file to your post.
Be aware that you will have to zip this file before attaching it here.

Why does firefox crash everytime I use it

Every time I use firefox regardless of what site Im on, it crashes every single time, I do not understand why. I have automatic updates on my computer that update once a week. I had no problems what so ever until Tuesday July 11th, after my computer updated, now I cannot use firefox for any thing. Can you please help, this is very aggravating?

Someone has already mentioned Norton in this thread. Please note there is a known issue with some Norton software sometimes implicated in Firefox 24 crashes. Norton themselves are asking for more information.
