E61 Problem connection to Home wifi LAN

My E61 worked fine until I changed my router to a Netgear DG834GT. It uses 802-11 b & g. and I have the latest firmware on the phone. The router has built in wifi which works well on my laptop, it connects to the access point without any problems at all.
I am not unable to connect with my phone. I can 'see' the WLAN SSID in Available Networks - it's set to Infrastructure. I has a WEP key set.
When I try to connect using that access point e.g. to update 'WorldMate Weather' I getthe error message "Connection error - check settings"
If I try to collect my emails or surf the 'Net I get: "WLAN - Unable to connect. WLAN network not found!"
Any help would be appreciated.

Hi,
you could test the following if it helps:
1) disable power save feature from the phone
2) set access point to open authentication and no encryption
3) scan for WLAN networks and start web browsing using the found access point
Any difference? Don't forget to restore the security settings afterwards.

  • Problems connecting to home WiFi

Recently my MacBook Air simply will not connect to my home WiFi automatically. I have to wait for it to search for all WiFi, and then manually select my home WiFi. Sometimes even then it fails, and I have to manually select the WiFi again. So, it might take several minutes after wake from sleep to connect to WiFi. How can I solve this problem? Here are some other observations
    - My MacBook Air seems to have no problem automatically connecting to other WiFis I use regularly.
    - My iPhone and iPad and my wife's PC has no problem connecting to the home WiFi.
    - The MacBook Air used to connect fine. It might have changed after some software update.
    - Seemingly the MacBook Air connects fine to the home WiFi during sleep (power nap). But once it wakes up, it will not connect.
    - The WiFi signal is very strong once connected (the router is just a few meters from the Air).

The latest update solved my issue too. But only for a few days.
It's not just inconvenient - it's costly. I recently spent hours instead of minutes trying to book airline tickets and ended up paying extra because "Your session has timed out" while my Macbook Air - with 10.9.4 - kept losing its connection. I log back in and find prices have gone up.
Other household items - an iPad Air and iPhone and my wife's Samsung - have no such problems, so it is clearly this 6 month old Mac Air that is the problem. Or, perhaps more accurately, the OSX is the culprit, as I was having similar problems with my Macbook Pro before I upgraded to the Air.
I have posted a question about wifi issues here, and searched forums, and tried all of the tricks that have been suggested. Wasted hours following tips that didn't work. Sometimes I get a temporary reprieve - as happened when I turned Bluetooth off. Other times it makes no difference.
To illustrate how much the issue has frustrated me - I have  contemplated jumping ship, especially as my friends with Lenovos and Sonys gloat at my problems!    If I do jump ship with my next notebook, it will be the only time since my first computer (a Mac) in 1992 that I would have purchased anything else. But something has to give. I can't live with this constant disruption of wifi.

  • Can't connect to the internet in my home yet other devices can. I tried it in other Wifi places and it connects without a problem. My home Wifi is with Att uverse

Can't connect to the internet in my home yet other devices can. I tried it in other wifi places and it connects without a problem. My home wifi is with ATT Uverse. I cheched the IP address on my laptop and its different than on my Ipod although it on the same network.

Move off WEP to WPA or, preferably, to WPA2 (as recommended by Apple). WEP has been deprecated by the WiFi Alliance since 2004 as insecure (it can be cracked in seconds by any hacker).
Note that each device on a network has a unique IP address but if your address starts with 169 then you did not get a valid IP address assigned to you by your router. If restarting the router did not cure the problem then you should check for a firmware update for your router.

  • IPhone will not connect to home WiFi

new iPhone 4 6.0 will not connect to home wifi--other apple products (iPad & other iPhone 4) will connect to home WiFi--I experienced this problem with first iPhone 4 received 11/13--got new phone 11/26 and STILL can not connect

Is this a password protected network? Go to Settings, General, Reset, Reset Network Settings. After that, try to connect again. This reset will remove all password and wifi information from the device and should give you a clean start to connect to the home network.

  • Installed IOS7 for IPad~now can't connect to home WiFi, but worked @Library.So IOS7 doesn't like Sky Yahoo

For days I have been unable to use my IPAD except to view what is already there. I downloaded IOS7 and all was ok for about a week but suddenly one morning I woke up to find that my gadget doesn't want to connect WiFi via my home provider. This happens to be Sky Yahoo. So, short of changing providers, I don't know what to do. Only purchased my IPAD 2 in June this year but am already wishing that I had chosen the Samsung Galaxy Note. (it was a close call). The tech guys in the shop have tried to help but as soon as I am out of range of the shop I am back to square one. Called in at my local library today and had no problem connecting to their WiFi.
Can i "uninstall" IOS7 or is there a way round this problem before I go crazy?  This is being sent from my laptop, obviously. Any and all help gratefully accepted.....especially if it works.

    You can't downgrade the iOS.
    Some things to try first:
    1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
    2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
    3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
    4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
    5.  Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)
        •    Launch Settings app
        •    Tap on Wi-Fi
        •    Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
        •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.
Double tap your Home button & at the bottom of the screen you will see the icons of all open apps. You may have many open which can possibly cause the slowdown and possibly the loss of wifi. Close those you are not using by pressing on an icon until all icons wiggle - then tap the minus sign.

  • TS1398 Unable to connect to home wifi

I'm unable to connect to home wifi with iphone.  My computer is able to connect as usual.

Buried deep in that link is a suggestion to turn the router off and on again to reboot it. This should be the FIRST thing you try, not the last. It will usually resolve the problem.

  • Iphone 4s - cant connect to home wifi

For months my iPhone 4s, now running iOS 6, has been having trouble connecting to wifi. It didn't bother me too much until now, when I can no longer connect to the wifi at home. I reset my network settings, but still no luck. I know the password by heart and have checked it, the password isn't the problem. It will either say "incorrect password" or "unable to connect". On my macbook, ipad, kindle, as well as another iphone in the house, there are no problems connecting to the wifi. We have fios but because of the recent storm and just regaining our internet a few days ago, I'd prefer not to mess around with the router. It is so frustrating to me that I cannot connect to wifi in my own house all of a sudden. I don't want to update to iOS 6.0.1 until I have resolved this (not to mention you need wifi to update anyway). I have seen a lot of other people complain about this iOS 6 wifi glitch, but mine started before I updated. Previously, it would not allow me to connect to most outside networks, home worked fine. Please, if you know of a solution to this problem, let me know before I go over my data plan!

Try followings. It may help you.
First check wifi router setting in pass key type, do the following WPA Personal, and set encription to TKIP and choose your fev SSID with your fev password. Save the setting switch off your router wait for 15 sec switch it on back. This should solve your problem. If you have linksys then 192.168.1.1 is the ip address to enter basic setup.
    Good luck.

  • Iphone4 wont connect to home wifi connects to neighbors..others iphones ipads connect to this wifi cannot change it and cannot access apps store. Does nor request password just "cannot access"

Iphone 4 wont connect to home wifi but connects to neighbors open wifi.  Family members with iphones can connect to the wifi automatically and Mac compiuter in home connects to this wifi and this iphone did connect automaticcally until a few weeks ago.  Does not request password when try to connect to own wifi..just says "cant access.". Also cant access the Apple apps store to purchase apps but all other function operate normally. Apple store tech says nothing wrong with phone. It connected to their wifi and coud access apps store from their wifi.     This iphone belongs to son who is autistic.  I am mother trying to resolve this issue and very frustrated.  Have reset router but no change.

Based on the symptoms, your phone is fine, and the Router is the problem.   Try http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1398.  Specifically the "forget this network" step.  I would also consider resetting the wifi network password.  Sometimes that will allow a connection.

Try resetting your wireless router and modem.
Disconnect the wireless router from the power source followed by disconnecting the modem from the power source. Wait 5 minutes followed by reconnecting the modem to the power source and allow the modem to completely reset before reconnecting the wireless router to the power source.

  • IPhone 4s connected to home wifi but won't allow connection to internet etc...

We recently received a new modem from the cable/internet company and although the iPhones indicate they are connected to home wifi they won't connect to facebook, yahoo, google, update email. Basically we are using our data in our home with a working internet. The computers are working fine. I have spent a few hours with the cable company and the phone company trying to solve this issue. They both say it is an issue with the other party....we have not update to the new OS yet... could this be a setting issue within the phone not responding to the new modem? Should we try updating the phones OS?
my kids are running through their data...any advice would be helpful. I have already had to pay for the unsuccessful help of the cable company.

  • IPod touch 5th gen. and iPhone 4 will not connect to home Wifi.  No issues anywhere else, just at home.  iPhone 6 had the same problem, but was able to correct with network reset.  Tried absolutley everything the boards say and nothing works.  Help.

Brand new iPod 5 and periodically will pick up our home Wifi, but when it loses it, it's impossible to reset.  Says "incorrect password" and it is the correct password.  No issue at all with Android devices or anything else on Wifi.  Only the iPod and an iPhone 4.  My iPhone 6 had the same issue, but I was able to correct it by resetting the network.  This "fix" doesn't work on the iPod or old iPhone.  Just keeps saying "incorrect password" no matter what you do.  Connection has been reset, passwords have been changed... Nothing fixes it.  And both are operating on the latest iOS update.  I just updated it.  Still doesn't work.  How crazy.

Does the iOS device connect to other networks? If yes that tends to indicate a problem with your network. Yes
Does the iOS device see the network?
    Any error messages?
    Do other devices now connect?
Did the iOS device connect before? no
Try the following to rule out a software problem:  (Not clear what you did)
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Power off and then back on your router
.- Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings
    - iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
    - Wi-Fi: Unable to connect to an 802.11n Wi-Fi network
    - iOS: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem and it does not connect to any networks make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem. Since it connects to other networks that indicates a problem with your network
