E61 sync problem: 'Waiting for the mobile phone to...

Setup: Nokia E61 Windows XP Pro w/Service Pack 2 PC Suite 6.80.53.3 Nokia supplied cable.
The body of this has been essentially copied from two other people who've had the same problem. One's problem spontaneously disappeared while the other's was solved by removing the phone's battery for a minute. My problem was not solved by that and I throw it to the group for its collective wisdom.
I have successfully synchronised my Outlook Contacts & Calendar for over a week. Now I can't. On selecting Synchronise Now in the Nokia PC Sync dialog, the blue & green bubbles continue to rotate and the message 'Connecting to E61'continues to flash for some 5 mins. The message then changes to 'Waiting for the mobile phone to send data'. This continues for approx. 3 mins, where upon synchronisation stops and the message Synchronisation Completed appears. However, 0 entries have been updated, despite several updates to contacts. Previously, having pressed the Synchronise Now button, synchronisation would take typically less than a minute and all updates would be transferred OK. I have tried everything I can think of. Included, completely de-pairing the phone from the PC, uninstalling PC Suite, installing again from scratch and re-establishing the connection. The other functions in PC Suite seem to be fine. For example, I can use the file manager to see what's on my phone. At the bottom of the PC Suite page it says that my phone is connected via USB. At the task bar at the bottom of the Windows screen it also shows everything OK. The icon there says"Nokia PC Suite Nokia E61 conected via USB". It's only when I press the synchronize button on PC Suite that the next screen pops up and says that it's trying to connect. Any suggestions to this vexing problem?

try recreating the sync settings from PC Sync, select settings - create bew settings - and run through the wizard. then sync

    Hi Yatskan,
Hopefully I may have a suggestion that will work...
Try clicking on Start, Run and type in the following:
    Regsvr32.exe %Windir%\System32\Ole32.dll and hit enter
Then try synchronising just your calendar on its own... if that works, great. If it doesn't, try adding a dummy calendar entry to your phone and then try the sync again.
Also, make sure the keypad on your phone is not locked when you do the sync or the phone will not be able to respond.
Let me know how you get on.

Apple will gladly sell you a color coordinated and texture matching external SuperDrive to go with your Retina'ized MBP for about $80 bucks.
Note that those models are completely sealed with no serviceable or upgradeable parts inside. So if you decide to bite the bullet, be sure to customize its guts to your heart's content from the get-go as no further change will be possible. This means CPU speed, amount of RAM and size of the solid state drive. Other external options, like the Superdrive, can be added later.

  • Should You Buy An iPhone Now, Or Wait For The Next One?

    Great article by HuffPost Tech.
The most common thing I get asked whenever I tell anyone I'm a tech writer is some version of the question: "Should I get a new iPhone now, or should I wait until the next one comes out?" It is as though my business card should read not "Technology Writer," and instead "iPhone Psychic"
Not that I am not happy to prognosticate! And in that spirit, here's a look at the questions on everyone's mind: Should I buy an iPhone now? And if not now, when?
First, let me say that I am fascinated by the peculiar kind of panic that I encounter in people I meet who are deciding on a purchase date for their next Apple phone. I call it the iSenberg Uncertainty Principle: Potential iPhone buyers exist in a constant state of anxiety, perpetually worrying that purchasing an iPhone on any given day will mean that they will miss out on the inevitably cooler version with the mind-blowing new features soon down the road. The Cupertino Sword of Damocles constantly dangles over their heads, threatening to pierce them with unhipness and iShame.
Here is one solid piece of advice I can offer to help you avoid the Sword: Do not buy any new iPhone until September. Apple has an annual media conference each September, and every blog with the word 'Mac' in the title is reporting that Steve Jobs is going to do his black turtleneck thing and introduce some kind of new iPhone there. The September Media conference is generally used to present the new iPods, but as All Things Digital reports, Apple plans to "commandeer" the conference for its official iPhone announcement.
Apple is long overdue to release its new iPhone anyway, if history is any indication. Look at this handy little timeline:
    June 2007: original iPhone released
    June 2008: iPhone 3G released
    June 2009: iPhone 3Gs released
    June 2010: iPhone 4 released
    June 2011: Nothing!
In other words, the 5th generation iPhone is already a month late, so it makes sense that the rumors are swirling. Apple's tardiness can be explained by the fact they've actually already released two iPhones in 2011 -- the Verizon iPhone in February and the unlocked iPhone 4 in June. Their schedule is all screwy, like a traveler trying to get over jet lag. But all signs point to them getting right with a September Apple iPhone release.
So what jaw-dropping new feature will this iPhone boast? We're hearing that the "iPhone 4S," as it is rumored to be called, won't be the dramatic re-imagining that many of us have come to expect with each new iPhone release. Tech blogThis Is My Next thinks that it will be thinner and lighter, and that it will run on a new chip; the New York Times thinks that it will be the same dimensions as the iPhone 4 but that it will be cheaper. Bloomberg agrees with This Is My Next on the chip and adds that the rear-facing camera will upgrade to 8 megapixels from 5 megapixels.
Now, even if you're just a normal, non-geek iPhone user, who doesn't care if the rear-facing camera doubles its megapixel count, or if Apple has changed the manufacturer of its data processors, or whatever, you still need to at least wait for the alleged iPhone announcement, and here's why: if history is any indicator, the introduction of a newer iPhone model is accompanied by a drop in price of older iPhone models. When the iPhone 3GS was announced, the price of the iPhone 3G dropped by $100; when the iPhone 4 was announced, the price of an iPhone 3GS also dropped by $100. Even if you know that you're not going to drop $400 on whatever iPhone Apple begins peddling in September, there is no sense in paying more money for an iPhone 4 or 3Gs now when the base price of both seem like locks to drop in two months.
But before we start fantasizing, how can we be so certain that Jobs is even going to announce an iPhone in September if Apple hasn't so much as indicated such a thing? How do we know that all of these rumors weren't just started by lonely nerds like me and my co-workers emailing each other from our mother's basements, inciting iPhone rumors all on our own?
Well, first of all, I don't live with my mother; and second of all, the new iPhone rumors have sprung forth from two reliable sources held in high journalistic regard.
The first is esteemed, award-winning tech journalist John Paczkowski of All Things Digital, who blazed iPhone prognostication trails by predicting back in April that an updated iPhone 4 would be unveiled at the September Apple music Conference and has steadfastly maintained the claim is true through June and into July. In fact, he confirmed as recently as July 5 that a shiny new iPhone looked to be in the early stages of supply chain production, and that people close to the company still believe that the new iPhone would be ready for the Jobs treatment in September.
So there is Reliable Source One.
Reliable Source Number Two is the Wall Street Journal, not exactly a one-laptop operation. The paper gives "the end of September" as a target launch date, which squares up with both Paczkowski's prediction of a September announcement and release. This doesn't even mention This Is My Next's separate prediction of a September release, nor 9to5Mac reporting that there are going to be two new iPhones in September, one low-end and high-end. But now we're falling down the rabbit hole and into the basement again, so let's focus:
There is likely to be a new iPhone in September. It will likely affect the price of all the other iPhones. The iPhones available now -- the iPhone 4 and the iPhone 3Gs -- will probably be cheaper in two months. Unless you drop your current iPhone in a pool, a bathtub or a volcano, do not buy an iPhone until Steve Jobs opens his beautiful brilliant mouth at the Apple conference in early September. When the post-turtleneckian dust settles, we'll have a clearer picture of whether or not this rumored new iPhone is worth the money. And then we can talk about--well, whether or not you should buy an iPhone now, or wait until the next one comes out.
    http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/07/12/iphone-release-5-september_n_896345.html

Apple has two prototypes out testing now.  One is a thinner totally redesigned case.  The problem with it is that Foxconn can't seem to build it.  Hence the delay.  The other prototype uses the existing case, but with updated (read dual core) internals.  If they can get production up by September the first phone will be released and will be the iPhone 5.  If they cannot, then the second prototype will be released as the iPhone 4GS.

  • 'The mobile phone rejected the operation' Error - ...

    Hi,
Using E70 via Bluetooth. Everything works for sync etc.
When I click on contacts, it gives me the error 'The mobile phone rejected the operation' and does not allow me to view my contacts.
On occasions it will show the contacts, then something 'hides' them again and will then go back and browse the 'root' directory of the phone.
Im not aware of any security settings or such. At the moment, when I try and do something the phone asks to allow the connection, I do - but still nothing.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks

  • HT4623 My Iphone 5 is experiencing terrible speaker issues - the speakers are busted I do believe.  I had a software update on Saturday May 11 - which said it was for the speaker phone, but to no avail... I still cannot use my speaker phone.

I am so disgusted with the new Iphone 5 and the speaker quality.  I was using the speaker phone a few days ago, and it started to sound like I had poor signal and poor reception.  I later discovered, it was the speaker itself.  It has apparently burst.
I then got a notice of a software update specifically for the speaker phone - on Saturday, May 11, 2013.  I downloaded the update, and it is still terrible.  I cannot use the speaker phone nor use the speakers in any capacity.
To have paid this much for such a wonderfully technical piece of equipment - to find it cannot perform the simplest task of delivering quality speaker tones.  It is inaudible.
I am not going to purchase another Iphone.  Sadly, I have been an avid IPhone user since they first came out, and have always purchased the newest version.  The Iphone 5 will be my last IPhone.
My daughter has the Galaxy 4S, and I am very impressed.
Sorry Apple, you have dropped the ball.  A phone this advanced should be able to have the simplest of features work properly... any cell phone has good speaker phone capabilities...except for the Iphone 5.
Signed, a very disappointed Iphone 5 customer.

  • Are there any known good home phone systems for the Home Phone Connect

I've had the Home Phone Connect now for several months.  I have had a Panasonic KX-TG7641 for a good while now.  I bought this system to connect a cell phone through the Bluetooth to make a receive calls at home.  This cell phone stayed docked in the charger next to the Panasonic base station.  There were a few extra steps involved in order to make calls using the Bluetooth and every time my mother-in-law visits it is an extensive training process to show her how to use the phone.  Every. Time. She. Makes. A. Call.
I saw the HPC and figured I could simplify the system and since the cell we kept connected was off contract, I got the HPC for free and signed up for 2 years with it. This was a mistake.  While I can always hear the callers on the line, they sometimes report that I am too garbled to understand.  Today I knew I was going to be on the phone on hold for a while, so I used my home phone handset for comfort (vice holding my Galaxy up to my head for an extended period of time)
After a 30 minute on-hold with the Veterans Administration I finally got through to an operator who informed me she could barely hear me/broken and garbled.  Where I have my HPC at it is right in a window and I have steady 2 bars on it always.  I told her I could call back on my cell phone, but she insisted we power through it so I wouldn't have to wait again on hold.  Well we eventually made it through the call.
After hanging up I used my Google powers to see what the issue it/how to fix it.  It appears that the people that have issues when using the HPC also have Panasonic phones/base stations connected to it.       This might be because Panasonic phones are widely available and are the most common ones in use, but it might also be in that something is incompatible between the 2 systems.  Odd, since the way it connects is similar to an old POTS.  Could it have something to do with the DECT 6.0 that hey use (on the 1.9GHz band) where other older devices use standard 2.4 or 5.8?

Thank you for the tip.  Sorry if it's the wrong forum.  I don't post here often.  I searched for the Home Phone Connect under devices and found it under "Other" so figured this was the best place to post it.  Could you point me to the correct place for the HPC discussions?
I'll double check later when I'm home on my computer to see iff the problems being reported are all using the DECT 6.0 (1.9GHz).  Might be causing some interference of some sort.

  • How best to Sync 2 Computers to the i-phone?

Can anyone post a step by step guide to syncing two computers to the i-phone. I have a Macbook Pro and an i-mac. I hardly ever use the i-mac, it's mostly my back-up and guest log in computer.
Right now the i-mac has thousands of e-mails that have not been sorted out as I do that mostly on my MacBook Pro. I would like to have both the computers have the same information for contacts, calenders and e-mail, and then have it all sync up with the i-phone, when I get it!!! (Waiting on a DF at&t order!) Thought I might as well get ready.... Any thoughts and suggestions would be much appreciated and of-course helpful to others in the same position....
    Message was edited by: seabreeze1982

Sorry neuroanatomist, I edited the question just as you answered.... tried to make it simpler...
The Data on my MacBook Pro is all current, the data on the i-mac is old and the e-mail files are huge on the i-mac as I have never deleted anything on it.... If as they are saying, that mobileme will sync everything, I would like to clean up the -imac and match it to my macbook. Except I recall doing this once and it deleted the e-mails from the server? So I lost e-mails I didn't want to....
I believe that the inbox and the smart mailboxes are e-mails that are on the apple server? If I move them to the "On my Mac" section with folder, they will be saved, if I delete them from the in-box they also get deleted from the server, is this correct?
I just want the sync with the i=phone to be correct, and not put double information on the phone.
    Thanks

Try Settings > Safari > Clear History and Clear Cookies And Data and then close Safari via the iPad's taskbar and do a soft-reset
To close Safari : from the home screen (i.e. not with Safari 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar at the bottom of the screen, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the Safari app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
A soft-reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.
When you re-open Safari it should be just a blank tab
