E61 : Wish list for the next FW update

Since I have E61 with me right now, I am talking from this perspective. Many of these will be applicable for other S60 devices too.
1) Moving from Nokia 7250, I miss 'birth year' in E61's anniversary calendar events. This should be included in next update.
2) There is practically no use of Birth dates in Contacts when it is not liked to Calendar for auto reminding.
3) Alarm is too primitive. It needs to be recurring.
4) With FW 2.06x, sms/email font is set to bold. Okay. But few of us like me still want the previous font. This should be customizable.
5) What's the point of 1 minute audio recording restriction?
6) Option to selectively backup/restore (like contacts only, calendar only) other than whole thing from Memory/Phone.
7) Volume UP/DOWN physical buttons customizable and assignable to text page scrolling, contacts scrolling etc.
8) POP email sync time should be fully customizable (remove minimum limit of 30 minutes). The major reason why I bought E61 is for messaging and 30 minutes sync is a joke.
9) BT PAN profile is just software based (as far as I think). Its never bad to have additional option open.
10) A2DP is also software based. If this doesn't complicate your marketing plans, why not include this as a special bonus?

You've got to be kidding, noway. As you could imagine next fw update will be out around April 2007, by this time there will be new models with the same bugs, after Jan 2007 you'll be able to get a much better phone from Apple. Don't even think that Nokia will add new feautures in the fw, no way. The whole features that you wrote will take them to develop forever, like MS makes Vista. Never ending story.

  • Wish list for the next release

Some things I would love to see in the next release of Xcelsius:
    - Making the software more stabile/robust!
    - Being able to switch an existing chart from Line chart to bar chart etc., without having to manually create the object from scratch again (in Webi one can easily change the visualization of an existing chart for example bar chart to a line chart at a click of a button).
    - Providing more markers for the graphs
    - Being able to create layers of objects, which would be useful if you have objects overlaying each other using dynamic visibility.
    - A horizontal bar chart uses the underlying data sorted from bottom to top, this is counterintuitive.
    - If one is using multible tabs on the dashboard having a navigation bar for all the tabs (similar to Powerpoint for the different slides)
    - Being able to select/mark various data points on the dashboard and group them for further analysis (see Tableau saoftware)
    - Being able to easily create small multiples (for example create the same chart type for each product category, the individual charts displaying revenue by month)

So far, the only thing I have on my wishlist is to be able to turn iterations on in the Excel file that is uploaded.  I haven't even been able to use the program yet because the files I need Xcelsius to work with all contain circular references which require iterations.  Instead, they just crash the program since iterations always get turned off when a worsheets up uploaded.

  • Anticipated new features/wish list for the Apple TV?

I'd be interested to hear people's guesses/wishes for the next OS update to the AppleTV. I know that I love mine but I find myself increasingly frustrated by the lost potential. For example, here are a few things I'd love to see (and yes, I've submitted these requests to Apple already):
    * subscribable podcasts - it'd be great to be able to have the Apple TV subscribe to and auto-update podcasts. Great content always available on the device! Can't see any reason why they haven't done this...
    * RSS newsreader/custom info page - I want to be able to turn on my Apple TV and have it give me a single-page summary of the news and info that's important to me. This would be a great way to tart my day - see the weather forecast, see the day's headlines, etc. Again, no practical reason not to do this.
    * some sort of music visualizer - having a largescreen TV simply begs for some great visuals when playing music. I know that the Apple TV's graphic hw is insufficient for this purpose, but it'd still be nice <g>.
    * ABC/NBC/CBS/Hulu/Netflix content - The elephant in the room. The proliferation of high-quality, free streaming content on the web has really changed the game and Apple should be at the forefront of delivering this stuff. I know they'll NEVER do this for business reasons, but I'm hopeful they'll find cutting-edge solutions to this, the most important of all, developments.
What would YOU like to see?

Polls and speculation aren't actually permitted. You might want to submit your feedback to Apple:

    Best of luck.

  • What's on your wish list for the NIke+ sportkit?

Here's my wish list so far. What's on your wish list for the Nike+ Nano sportkit? (Already sent to Apple and Nike+ feedback so please don't tell me to do that. Apple & Nike+ do read the forum. )
    Nike+:
    I would like to see:
-- a date on the start of my goals (rather than just "you have 16 days to go").
--previous goal start and end dates (I have completed goals in half the time I gave myself but it doesn't show that)
--MOST IMPORTANT--some way to show improvement in pace (or distance, or time). At the moment you don't see what your previous cumulative pace was. You don't even know whether it's getting better or worse. You have to guess on the basis of looking back at each individual run.
--a simple, foolproof way to re-upload run data to Nike+
    Nano:
    I would like to see:
--a two-step way to end a run, rather the current four step Pause> Menu> spin the dial>End
--since the sensor obviously records steps (you can see step count in the xml file), let the users see that step count in their totals and upload the steps data to Nike+

    - support for podcast playing as well as typical control of now playing - the ability to move the item playing back if you miss something (say, while listening to a podcast or audiobook). I like to catch up on my podcasts while I run, then listen to music at the end of the run. I am kludging my way through with playlists right now, one for each day, but I'd really rather not. Really there should be a "Music" menu option so that you could choose to listen to an artist or an album or a genre - your choice - rather than just a playlist or shuffle songs.
    - support for other shoes, even legacy Nike shoes, perhaps with a rigid arch support insole or something that you can slip in that has a pocket for the sensor? I realize that Nike is likely looking at this as a way to make people buy higher margin shoes, but I'd pay extra for a Nike branded insole like that, too.
    - I agree with the option for a non-flash site.
    - The ability to turn off the power song feature, or at least customize some of the features. I'd prefer a quick trip to the main menu with a press and hold, say, with a menu item on the end of the main menu to return to the workout data (sort of like the "Now Playing" menu item) so that I can change music selections, change backlight timing, whatever.
    - I'd love to be able to access workout data on the PC without having to connect to the internet.
    - If you are listening to a podcast or audiobook, I'd like the spoken announcements ("you have 10 minutes to go") to pause the playback rather than speak over it, or at least give me the option to do so.
I've only had it a week; I am sure that I will come up with more as I use it more.

  • Wish list for the Helix 2?

I realize this is a bit early, but now that there are a few Helix units out in the wild, what features would you like to see added or changed for the next ThinkPad Helix iteration?
    My personal wish list:
    Must-haves:
    - Haswell
    - a solid desktop dock for the slate with the screen angled up toward the user at 'writing angle', 2xhdmi, 4+ usb in back.
    - lighter all around, same battery life (thanks to Haswell). How about 3lbs with keyboard?
    - at least one USB port on the slate that is not blocked by docking.
    - eraser on the included pen!
    - SD or uSD card slot
    Nice to have:
    - a touch-cover like product. Make the mounting bracket slots magnetic and use those for the screen cover as well.
    - Firmware update: option to not lock the digitizer if pen is in silo.
    - virtual bezel to have more screen space when docked (see Intel reference design)
    - option to keep some of the USB powered when machine is off (plus clear indicator of power draw!)
    - a backlit keyboard
    - fingerprint reader
     From posts below:
    - Bluetooth connection to dock, so dock can work as wireless KB (no need to dock e.g to type one password)
    - HDD/SSD option in the dock like in the HP Split X2 (but boy is that thing heavy..4.85lbs)
    - higher resolution (1600 vertical), maybe after display scaling in Windows improves for multi-monitor setups..
    - better release schedule. Protip: estimate demand, get production going, THEN announce.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    An accurate ship date.

  • Is there a way to up forward a suggestion for the next software update?

I had my iphone stolen the other night and I was just wondering if we can put forward a suggestion towards the next software update.
I've been thinking that you should only be able to turn the phone off if the phone is unlocked (if there is a passcode lock then you should have to enter this before being able to turn the phone off)
If a phone is stolen the first thing people do is turn the phone off, but if this isn't so easy to do then people may still be able to find their phone using the find my iphone app which can only be used when phone is on
    Hop someone can help, thanks

  • Can we get a feature list for the next update?

I'm early in the planning stages for a project and am wanting to make a decision on what Stage3D framework to use. We're not opposed to putting in the extra effort to build from the ground-up but so far I'm loving Proscenium. Unfortunately, and understandably being at the stage it's at, there are a lot of features missing that we're going to require. Is it possible to get an upcoming feature list of what we can expect with the next iteration to help us make a decision?

I am in the same situation, and many other developers do as well, so I guess it would be of fundamental importance for the success of this project to answer these questions as soon as possible.
Thanks and keep up the very good work.

  • Which I wish myself for the next update of Lightroom:

1.) Punctual color correction with preview
2.) RGB of 0-255 Farbwerte with AdobeRGB
3.) Shaping after reference chart in the RAW format

Norbert, how is this different to Simon Tindeman's ACR calibrator at http://www.xs4all.nl/~tindeman/raw/acr-calibrator-l.html ? Are you saying you'd like this utility in Lightroom?
I use the ACR calibrator script in CS3 and type in the numbers in to a preset in Lightroom. I recently did an example for a student where we shot some purple chocolate wrappers, then calibrated both cameras - a Nikon D200 and a Canon 30D - using a ColorCheckerTM, then we could really see the differences in the optics rather than the differences in calibration. The oft-observed "Canon Orangey Red" came out clearly, but disappeared on calibration.
The conversation about RGB values is an often repeated one; for me the difficulty is not that it's % and not 0-255, but rather that I don't
    i quite
know what colour space it's in. However, for "numerical subjective" checking flesh tones and the like it's entirely adequate. There have been repeated questions about adding an option to add Lab colour reports (much more useful for checking flesh tones) but Adobe have a solid position on this and won't move.
I think by "shaping after reference chart" you are referring to a previously stored tone curve, maybe? Again, isn't that possible to do in LR and apply as a preset on import?
I hope I'm understanding your questions, leider mein Deutsch ist nicht herrvoragend als ich Deutschglisch lesen nach Babel uebersetzung habe...*

  • Wish list for the iPhone and iPad

I would add the following to the OS for iPhones and iPads which would allow the user to have control over multitasking applications. This will overall save battery life.
    1. Create a setting feature to enable/disable multitasking for each application. This will allow users to choose which applications they wish to have multitasking on. Not all applications should or need to have multitasking.
    2. A feature to close all applications all at once.

There is no one from Apple here. If you want Apple to know your wishes, do so here:

  • Nokia 5230 - Wish List for Next Firmware Upgrade

    heya guys,
I'm using Nokia 5230 with the latest firmware, V 12.0.089.
The following are my wish list for the next firmware upgrade:-
    1. Messaging > Sent Items: Please include short cut icons to Forward, Create New and Delete as in Inbox.
    2. Log > Recent calls: Unnecessary option for Call > Voice Call.
    3. Settings > Personal > Themes > Call image > Theme image: A bug with certain 3rd party theme (e.g. JustBlack - 5th theme). During lock mode, screen is totally blank during calls & alarms.
    4. Settings > Application mgr. > Installed apps.: Too much application will cause an error of "Application Manager Memory full"  and auto exit when selecting "Option". During error, phone memory is around 25MB, Memory Card is around 2.5GB/4GB.
    5. Ovi Map > Drive / Walk > Set Destination: Please do an icon based UI for History, Favourite, Search & From Map. The list is to small to click on to (when driving) :-)
    6. Organize > Please include multiple selections. E.g. Mark/Unmark > Mark / Mark All. Easy to move multiple applications at once to any folder.
That's all for now i guess. By the way, Nokia rocks!!
    Thanks in advanced.

Please integrate swype for messaging in the next firmware of 5230. Also kinetic scrolling for messages and contacts. If possible the homescreen of symbian^3.

  • Wish list for next iPod software update

I don't know if this the right place or not, I was unable to find a better place for this.
Wish list for next iPod 5G software update
1.) Use the same folder structure as in iTunes (could be an option)
2.) Allow creation of custom eq settings in iTunes.
That's all for now. Thank you Apple for a great product.
    Roy Owen
    A Happy iPod 80GB owner.

What the next update needs is a better way for ipods to deal with gapless albums, I have several albums that I put on gapless album cuz each track leads into the next one perfectly and that little pause really throws off the feel of the music. But I can't put either of those albums on Repeat All, Shuffle Songs or Shuffle Albums cuz then it only plays the one song in it's own playlist and to get to the next track I have to go back to the menu and scroll down to the next one, which is a hassle to say the least.

  • What is the next software update for my Mac OS X v10.5.8? What do i need to to do?

What is the next software update for my Mac OS X v10.5.8? What do i need to to do?

10.5.8 is the last free update available for your system. If you wish to upgrade to newer versions of Mac OS X, you will first need to purchase and install a copy of Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard. Snow Leopard is back on the online Apple Store, at least in some countries. In the US:
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard
If it's not listed on the web site of the Apple Store in your country, call the online Apple Store, they may still have copies of Snow Leopard available.
Once you have upgraded to Snow Leopard, you then will have the option to upgrade to Mac OS X 10.7 Lion or 10.8 Mountain Lion, if you wish to do so and your system will support it.
    Regards.

Regarding the feedback to Apple....if you ever forget
the website, you can always look under the iWeb menu
while you are working (that's when you run into these
bugs anyways) and pick "Send Feedback to Apple".
That'll send you to the same webpage for feedback
    submission!
Hi James I'm glad that you are ok. And thank you for the hint about the bug reports on iWeb menu. It makes a lot of sense putting it there; I just never noticed it.
iWeb has a bad blog bug
I'd like to stomp it royally
Instead I'll send a feedback hug
