E61i - adobe reader le 1.5 doesn't work after firm...

After successful firmware upgrade to 2.0633.65.01 03-10-07 RM-227, the Adobe Acrobat Reader on my E61i stopped working, i.e. will not open. I downloaded the software and tried re-installing, but E61i will not accept. I get the message “Cannot install, component built in”. How do I get rid of the old installation so I can re-install? Please someone help.

Any update to this? I have the same issue with 10.1.4. If I disable protected mode it works.
Also other users on the same machine can print the same PDF with protected mode on.

Adobe Reader 11 Bootstrap method doesn't work from UNC path

Hello,
I am trying to incorporate Adobe Reader 11 for Windows as an unattended installation in a script, the same way I have Reader 10 setup using the bootstrapper installation method.
I have extracted the Reader 11 Setup executable using 7-zip after "unblocking" the file in its properties, used the Customization Wizard 11 to tweak a few options, and updated the Setup.ini accordingly (including the transform and the unattended install parameters).
Everything works great when I have the files on my desktop. When I copy the folder up to the server share where it will reside, I get an error when trying to run the setup.exe (not even using a script yet).
The error:
"This installation package could not be opened. Verify that the package exists and that you can access it, or contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid Windows Installer package."
I have verified all the permissions, tried everything multiple times, tried using the Customization Wizard with the files on the server, and nother has worked. I have done this with Adobe Reader 10 including using the method of chaining updates in the Setup.ini quite well.
Any suggestions for things I might try?

Solved.
Apparently the problem lies with the machine I was trying the install on. I copied my fully configured bootstrap deployment back to the server and tested it out on a VM and another computer. It worked just fine there. I have no idea why it worked locally but broke on the server for my first test machine. What a waste of the day.

Adobe Reader installation error: "object doesn't support property or method 'text'"

I'm trying to install Adobe Reader and I have the following error after launching the installer:
"object doesn't support property or method 'text'"
My OS is Win7 Ultimate 64b (using AVG antivirus), but I encounter the same error on other systems too:
Win7 Ultimate 32b (AVG Antivirus)
Win7 Enterprise 64b (McAfee Antivirus)
No matter which button I click, the installer hangs:
I googled this error, but couldn't find any solution.
Any ideas?

This error mostly occurs if your language is not set to English (on the Adobe.com website). This has been reported to Adobe a million times, but they don't seem to have any intererest in fixing it.

Adobe Reader 'Attach to Email' is not working

I have a client that is running Windows 7 and when opening a PDF with Adobe Reader is unable to use the "Attach to Email" function. We tried this with Adobe X, Adobe 9.3, Adobe 9.4.2. None of these will work. An error occurs: "Acrobat is unable to connect to your email program." We get the same error on any of these versions. For some reason Adobe 9.3.4 upgrade does not install with 9.3, where I read in a resource discussion that this version should work ion Windows 7.
Adobe Reader X seems to be a known issue with Windows 7 for this problem. My client recently upgraded from Windows XP and did not have this problem on that OS. A current work-around is to save the PDF then attach it to an email, but she would greatly prefer to use the Attach to Email function within Adobe Reader without having to save the PDF and manually attach it.

I have the same issue using Acrobat X and Thunderbird 3.1.6 on Windows 7. Attach to email function is NOT working.
It worked when I had outlook 2007 installed, but I couldn't find where to change the setting to thunderbird.
I uninstalled outlook. Now the attach to email feature won't work at all.
Thunderbird is set to the default email client in windows . . . this is extremely annoying!!
File > Attach to email . . . It appears this feature doesn't work with any emails client except outlook??????
Attach to email worked on WinXP for Lotus Notes 8.5 email client (maybe an older Adobe Reader, version 9.4), but not after we upgraded to Win7. No Adobe Reader versions we have tried will work on Win7 for Lotus Notes.

Is there a certain number of times I should install Adobe Reader on a mac before it works? Cant open any Adobe certified pdf's in any applications. Keeps telling me to install Reader for the best experience.

No, if it doesn't work the first time, doing it again isn't likely to change anything.
The usual reason for this message is that the app is not using Reader, but the PDF needs Reader. What app is putting out the message? Can you reply (NOT BY EMAIL) with a screen shot of the message?

You appear to have it installed twice. Your system specs show you have both Shockwave Flash 9.0 r28 and Shockwave Flash 10.2 r159 installed.
What I suggest you do here is to uninstall Flash using Adobe's uninstaller which you can download from here: [http://download.macromedia.com/pub/flashplayer/current/uninstall_flash_player.exe uninstall_flash_player.exe]
Close Firefox before you run the uninstaller, then reboot.
Then manually install Flash using this file: [http://fpdownload.adobe.com/get/flashplayer/current/install_flash_player.exe install_flash_player.exe] Close Firefox again before you run it.

Adobe Reader XI (11.0.04) not working on Windows 8

Hello,
All of the sudden Adobe reader XI (11.0.04) stopped working on my computer running Windows 8. When opening any .pdf it opens then stops responding then just closes by itself. No error messages or anything. I have tried uninstalling & reinstalling, running is compatibility modes or as admin, and turning off protected mode. All of these had no affect on the issue. Is there any available fix for this or an available version that is working on Windows 8?

Some things to try...
Using Windows Explorer navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Reader 11.0\Reader, then double-click on Eula.exe and accept the license agreement
Can you open Adobe Reader by itself? If so, try disabling Protected Mode [Edit | Preferences | Security (Enhanced)].
If you cannot open Reader by itself, try to disable Protected Mode in the registry; download, unzip, then run the attached registry script
It could even be a malware issue; see http://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/reader-core-dll-error.html

The reason why Sirius Radio online won't work with Safari anymore is because Sirius radio online is only supported by a 32-bit browser. Snow Leopard and all its applications are 64-bit. The best solution is to use firefox. If you still insist on using safari..... Go to adobe.com reinstall adobe flash player. Install/update Flip4Mac. Go to setting for Flip4Mac and check off all the options under the browser tab. Then when you go into Sirius Radio online, you will get an error message, just click okay. Then when you click a station, a quicktime player will come up and you will be able to listen to sirius online radio.

IMac - Display doesn´t work after restart

My iMac 21 Display doesn´t work after restart. If I turn it off and 1 hour later I want use it again the iMac shows the white screen with the mac logo and then the display goes off. I connected an external display to check if the iMac was ON and with the external display I can login and do everything but the iMac Display doesn´t work .
If I turn it off and wait 3 or 4 hours and then turn it back on the display works OK.
This is very strange behavior I have spent hours and hours trying to fine the solution or a similar issue but nothing so I am looking help here at apple.com
BTW When I bougth the iMac 21 there were some spots over the display so the display was replaced by the provider. The warranty has expired by now.

To tell you the truth, I don't know if they have to repalce the LCD panel or what they do for a bad backlight. In this reality of block or assembly replacement it probably involves repalcing the panel and not the backlight component. Don't know what it would cost. You'd have to ask that of a service center.
