E61i - firmware 3.0633.69.00 - SD blocked !!

Hi,
I have a strange problem after updating the firmware to 3.0633.69.00 , one of the apps on the SD card doesn't install now with the latest firmware upgrade.
So everytime I turn off my phone and turn it on, it will attempt to install the app(s) which has not installed previously.
and every time I tried to restore my backup from SD(contacts,messages..etc) the phone show error message (phone will restart) !!!
In the application manager there is a file called Launcher_MfE_150_PA.sisx stored in memory card and can't be installed manually.
what should i do now to restore my contacts and using my phone!

I backup my phone regularly, and I always keep at least the last two backup files inc case something goes wrong with one.
As for the phone still on v2, it could be that the v3 is still being phased in around the world (models sold in different countries and regions are slightly different to account for things like languages, local services, legal issues etc. so it is not a single version of the firmware fo all models of the same type around the world.
If your phone has operator-version software, then it could also be that your network has not yet approved the latest update. In this circimstance, Nokia would need your network's approval to release the update.

E61i Firmware 2.0633 performance issues

Hi,
I upgraded my E61i firmware from 1.0633 to 2.0633. While I don't see any major "upgrades" in the system software my "Menu" option has become incredibly slow!
It now takes around 7-10 seconds for the Menu items to load when I press the Menu key. Also if I open a folder in MENU such as Installat. or Office or Tools etc it takes around 7-10 seconds for these load as well! It's really irritating.
Anybody else with a similar problem or a fix?

For all of you who still have performance issues with this firmware, make sure you have completed the following steps:
PLEASE NOTE: DO NOT TRY my solution if you don't have the IT skills and you don't know what you are doing. I'm not responsable to any damage caused to your phone while going through these steps.
1. After the update was done, restore your data to the phone using PCSuite. The annoying "Installing" message will appear.
2. Try to kill the process using TaskManager (you cand acces the task manager by pressing the Reject button and then holding the menu button), or wait 'till it says that the installation was unsuccesfull.
3. After the "Installation" is "done", go to the Installat. folder in your menu and verify all your applications, like a user said above. If nothing happens when try to start the app, remove it using de = button or by Options - Remove.
4. After you removed all your bad apps, go to App Manager. You'll see a list of apps with names like "a0000bg4.sis" under which the text "Not Installed" is present. Write down the full names of all the apps with the "Not installed" text under them.
5. Connect the phone to your PC using the "Data transfer" option. Use windows Search, and search for each name you listed on the paper at step 4. For each name, delete de .sis file and the two folders named after it. Example:
Name of the "Not installed" application: a0000bg4.sis
Search for: a0000bg4
Delete: a0000bg4.sis, a0000bg4 folder, a0000bg4_anything_here folder
6. After you deleted all the files for the "Not installed" apps, disconnect the phone from the PC and restart the phone.
7. After the restart, the "Installing" message should have be gone and the phone's menu speed back to normal.
8. Reinstall all your applications from scratch (Thanks for this one Nokia!)

Where is E61i firmware 2.0633.65.01 for Code 05416...

I have an E61i with Code = 0541667. Per the "Check you device - Software Update" page [1], 1.0633.86.02 is the current version.
Any idea where 2.0633.65.01 is for the E61i with code 0541667?

Their is an updated version posted, 2.0633.65.51, but I have not seen any information from Nokia about this version.
How is it different from 2.0633.65.01?

E61i Firmware Update Available Again

According to the www.celladdictblog.blogspot.com , the E61i firmware update is available again, anyone can confirm this? and if so any improvements? bugs?

I don't think the story at the above link is news. I have just checked for an upgrade on my phone, Scandinavian region and the latest is the one I've had since about last November: 2.0633.65.01.
There maybe updates for other regions, of course...

E61 firmware 3.0633.09.04 timezone issue?

I have an e61 - when I updated to firmware 3.0633.09.04 I started having a new problem - all my outlook calendar appointments/meetings show up as 7 hours off on my phone.
So for instance, I have a lunch meeting today at 11:30 and it shows up on my phone as 6:30pm.
My phone is set to us/phoenix timezone, which is what it was set to before the firmware upgrade.
This may be part of the problem - if I check the phone timezone setting it shows as "GMT 0:00 Phoenix, AZ" which isn't right - Phoenix is GMT-7:00.
Has anyone else encountered this issue?

I had to wait for a long time to get the update, because the update software always said, that there is no update available for my E60. Now I got it(3.0633.09.04) and i wish I could go back to the old firmware, as blachberry service is not working anymore. The only workarround I found is to use the BB software for a different provider. I have a vodafone SIM, but the BB software for vodafone doe´sn´t work with 3.0633.09.04, now I´m using a BB software for "other" provider and it works - at least I get my mails again, the calender is not able to be synchronised.

Downgrading e61i firmware, pls help

I would like to downgrade my e61i firmware, can someone out there help me out on this, its very hard with current firmware to speak to anyone as the earpiece as low volume.

you must have pc suite and the last Nokia Software Updater. Conect to the net and conect your phone by USB after that open Nokia Software Updater and it will guide you what to do.

Failure when updating E61i firmware.

Goodday everybody,
I have a problem with my nokia,
I have the first firmware on my E61i and I want to update it to the 2.066.035 (or something) and the updater does everything what I want, even downloading the firmware! When it has finished with downloading it starts with installing, but a short 10 seconds later it appearce that the firmware couldn't install on my E61i after some times I gave up and I closed the updater-program, short time later there is a pop-up from the updater what says: an internall communication error.
Did somebody have this too? and how can I solve this problem?

Failed E61i firmware update

HELP!
I have fully downloaded the update software to my phone when suddenly, the PC indicated that the phone was disconnected from the PC even when all connectivity lights are on. The updated firmware wasn't installed and now, when I switch on the phone, only the white indicator light is turned on.
Is there any hope of ever using my E61i again?

First remove the battery for 5 minutes, reconnect the battery, connect it to your pc and run the updater again. Leave it for a few minutes and it should go into recovery mode.
If not disconnect it and try a hard reset.
Hard reset:
1. Switch off the phone.
2. Hold down the following three buttons: Green (the call answer button), * button, and '3' button.
3. While holding these buttons, press the power button and switch on the phone.
4. Release when the phone shows the nokia logo or shows other signs of life like the language selection screen.
If that fails to fix it try the advice offered in this post by drummer27:

If that still fails then the last option is to take the phone to a nokia care point.

E61i Firmware for ePlus branded unit - code 054881...

Although the new 2.0633.65.01 firmware has been released, there has not been a update for the ePlus Germany banded variant yet.
Can anyone comment on a release date for this firmware, or let me know if moving to a non-branded product code (need this for QWERTZ Euro unit) in an option?

Be carefull in going back to a non - EPlus version:
You will loose the feature of two possible telephone numbers on one device (ALS), with different numbers and different ringtones for each line.

Last time I upgraded the firmware of mt E61i it turned into a monster no-phone and needed two further re-upgrades to work properly. Having got it back into shape I 'd prefer not to court disaster!
Anyone like to share their experiences with f/w version 3. xxxx.xx.xx ???

I am sure that may be true for a lot of Nokia phones, but based on what I am reading here and on other Nokia forums, doesn't it sound like it may be a time for a new firmware?
There is certainly a few "issues" to be addressed there.

Does anyone know how the firmware for devices is ported. i want to use the new VPN client for a cisco firewall amd this only works with feautre pack one or above.
Any suggestions on how to use the new VPN would be appreciated.

Nokia is responsible for making S60/Symbian work on a phone. Nobody else.
So far in the history of all Symbian based devices from all manufacturers, not one has ever released to consumers a newer version of Symbian than what the device had originally.
Any and all firmware updates so far have never updated S60/Symbian.
And when there are additional applications developed by Nokia, then making them work or porting them to newer devices or older devices is also Nokia's responsibility (if they decide to do so, or not).
