Hi I'm in Fiji mum bought nokia e63-1 from Australia and i tried to reset the phone to fiji network but this phone can not be reseted.can someone help me plis.it was my birthday present.some agents say that they dont have the software coz it is a latest version of e63.

What what I understand, your phone is locked to an australian network and you wish to unlock it so you can use it in Fiji.
To do that you need to first of all get the Unlock code from the network it is locked to in Australia. Once you have the code, follow the instructions in the link below.

Can not see the contacts in E63 mobile phone

Hi,
I amusing E63 mobile phone. I am not been able to view the contacts in the mobile, so not been able to use the same. But when an incoming call comes in I do get the name resolution of the person calling and his mobile no which is stored in the contacts.
I tried backing up the mobile and all the time the backup of contacts could not happened and besides Contacts rest all is backed up....
Pls do let me know how to resolve this issue..

Welcome to the forum, your contacts are on the sim card and they will need to be either copied to Contacts on your phone for easy access.
It is not clear from your description what could be causing this issue, so I will present a couple of possibilities. The first is that the contacts that you cannot see are stored on the SIM card and not in the phone memory, to remedy this you can follow these steps to copy your contacts into the phone memory:
Menu>Communic.>Contacts>Options>SIM contacts>SIM directory>Options>Mark/Unmark>Mark all>Options>Copy to Contacts
If this is not the case, and if after selecting Contacts you see the options Go Online and ChatServiceBuddy, it means that the ”Ovi Contacts Chat” service is selected as the default view. This service has been discontinued and replaced by Nokia’s new Chat service powered by Yahoo. You can set your default Contacts view back to the contact information stored in your phone by following these steps:
•Select Menu>Communic.>Contacts
•Press the left navigation key to select the central field at the top of the screen, then press the centre of the navigation key to open the menu, and finally select Phone
•You should now see the contacts stored in phone memory. To make this the default view, select Options>Settings>Default contact list>Phone
If you are interested in the new Chat application, you can switch the Contacts view back to the Ovi Contacts view, select Go Online and sign in with the same user identity and password that you use to log into this forum. Your phone would then remind you that Ovi Contacts Chat is discontinued and take you through the steps to download and install the new Chat application. We would recommend that you use a WLAN connection for this.
If the two suggestions above do not resolve your issue, we can investigate further.
Out of interest, when you say that creating a back-up did not successfully back-up contacts, do you mean that you created the back-up with Nokia Suite and the report displayed at the end of the process indicated an error? If there was no error during the back-up process, it is likely that the back-up was successful and we still need to work out whý the information is not appearing in your phone.

E63 - how to reply to a message using 1 click inst...

Dear all,
I would be interested to know how one replies to a text message using 1 click instead of 3, via Nokia E63. The reply sequence that I currently have to follow is
1) click Options
2) select Reply
3) then select Via text message
Is there a direct means to get to the reply window with one click instead of three clicks?
I hope there is one because it takes time and becomes inconvenient to wait.

I tried replying a message in one step but didn't succeed.
The least steps number I was able to do is 2
Before entering the message press Options then reply, and the phone will open SMS writing screen directly.
Other than that, try to get a program that is able to do that.

How do I view contacts by group in E63?

How do I view contacts by group in E63? I tried scrolling right in the contacts list and all that came up were the connection options (voice call, send text message, etc.)? I really need this function as I need to group contacts by country for ease of search. Thank you.

Contact groups
Select each contact you want to add to the contact
group, select Options > Mark/Unmark > Mark to
mark it, select Options > Group > Add to group>
Create new group > Group name, and enter a name
for the group.
If you want to make conference calls to the group,
define also the following:
• Conf. service number — Enter the conference call
service number.
• Conf. service ID — Enter the conference call ID
number.
• Conf. service PIN — Enter the conference call PIN
code number.

Sound clips in E63 Gallery

I cant find any ringtones in soud clips folder in gallery of my E63. how can i bring them into the folder. help.

That's my web site, so I'm fairly familiar with the code sample that you're using.
If that approach doesn't work, then you have problems. It's not your problem - your development environment is missing sometihng fairly major if that doesn't work. All I can suggest in this case is that you catch the NullPointerException and use the PC-style file:// URL in this case.
You really shouldn't have to do that, since faking the appropriate parts of DSM-CC isn't too hard in this case and I'm very surprised that the development environment doesn't do this.
I'm about to go away on vacation for three weeks, so I won't be able to respond any more to this thread while I'm away, unfortunately. Good luck with finding a fix!

E63 & E71- Music player's equalizer does not work ...

I would advise to all the owners of the E71 and E63 that Nokia disenable the equalizer of the music player when you put the headphones in appliances. After updating the unit note that the equalizer only works with the sound of the speaker and the equalizer does not work with the headphones anymore.
I ask you to please click the link below and make their complaints about this new firmware that "destroys" the equalizer for the music player that Nokia fix this terrible problem!

Oh my. That is a big problem. Fortunately for me, I don't use the equalizer so it doesn't really affect me all that much. But still, I have no idea how they could just randomly break something like that.

Can't Open Contacts in e63

Hi,
I have recently updated firmware on my e63 series phone.
After this procedure i 'm having a problem with Contacts on the phone have stooped working.
Every-time i click on the contacts button or go through settings and communications and try assessing it their, it tries to do something but always reverts to the same home screen or comms section. I tried using OVI contacts that is not working either.
The only thing i can say is that during update, when it's about to finish the process, the phone shuts down and restarts and goes in to the normal screen just like if its finished updating, but the software on the computer says it hasn't finished and requests that i unplug the usb cable and plug it back in so it can finish the update, if i do that nothing happens.
I have tried reinstalling the software 3 times now, it keeps doing the same thing.
If you have any ideas, it would be greatly appreciated as i can't add anyone to the contacts.

I had the exact same problem. Returned the phone the Nokia. The tech said it was a bad flash and that he would re-flash the phone. When I picked up the phone after the so called re-flash, it would not read my sim card. They then said it was a faulty UBGA. Nokia send me new replacement phone. I then did the same update on a different computer (Xp with Admin rights , previous computer used was vista using user rights) Well, I flashed the phone and got exactly the same problem. NSU battled to reestablish coms with the phone at about 2mins to finish. NSU asked to disconnect and reconnect the phone. The update completed successfully according to NSU. Now I cannot access the contacts again. All else seems to be working. Mine is 3 branded phone RM-450. This faulty update must be costing Nokia many new phones. Sharing of similar problems and solutions will be appreciated.

My E63 seems to have gone haywire! What do i do ne...

Oh dear! My beloved E63 does not not seem to be working anymore and its progressively getting worse!
Ok so a few days ago i purchased a new 8gb memory card, so im really not sure if the problems im having are related to the new card or perhaps all the apps ive been constantly installing, or maybe even some other internal problem. Well at first the web browser kept freezing and stalling, now im finding that apps just dont start up at all when i click on them, ive also tried uninstalling some of the newer apps (in case it was them causing the problems) but im finding the phone just freezes during the uninstall process and im totally unable to uninstall anything. Im finding that apps installed both on the phone and on the memory card will not start up when i click on them or give errors if they do manage to start up. Basically the whole phone is on the verge of not being functional at all. Can someone please advise me on what to do next and/or what might be causing the problem. Any help or suggestions will be much appreciated as im REALLY trying to avoid having to send the phone away for repairs. Thanks in advance!!

Backup your contacts and other important data on the phone then do a hard reset(note:it will erase every thing from it) To do a hard reset type this code: *#7370# then it will ask the security code then ok then it will restart Also remove your important data from memory card ,format it on the pc then format it again in the phone now transfer your data to the phone and the card But,this time just install the apps you need not every app you see it on the net

Switching off wif on Nokia E63?

I have been trying to switch of the wifi for a while now but won't work I have went on
MENU>TOOLS>SETTINGS>CONNECTION>WIRELESS LAN>SHOW WLAN AVAILABIITY to never.
I have tried many other ways to switch it off like disconnecting it, switiching my phone off and back on and turning my internet conncection off from the routet. I als came across on an article that E63 's wifi will never turn off and this is happing to me. Its really frustrating as I was able to go on three network to "My3 planet" to check my top up allowance I have used but now I can't do even do that.
I have downloaded whats app but I always exit from that app. I really need to check my top up when ever I go to click planet 3 it connects via my wifi then comes up saying switch off your wifi on your phone's setting which I have tried but no luck! Plz help

Such issues usually seems to be hardware failure, fw failure. Similar behavior can however be caused by a faulty simcard or memory card. - At least the turning off-part.
Since you've tried bot hard reset and soft reset it probably has to go back to Nokia.
I was thinking about reinstalling the fw, but Nokia has probably done that when it was "repaired".
After resetting it and getting it back, did you install any backups on it? I was thinking about making another hard reset, format the mass memory and let it run a while before installing anything on it. If it works now, it would probably be something that you've previously backed up. - It could be a corrupt mass memory too if you haven't formatted it before.
Beware that a format of mass memory will delete anything that's on it. Make a back up!
Do you happen to have a memory card installed in the phone? It could also be an issue with that.
You should try adding one by one thing to it to be able to eliminate all possibilities and finally get the "bad guy".
I would try leaving the memory card out (if you have one, and see how it goes. If it's still the same, format the mass memory. Still the same: Change your sim card or try another simcard for a few days if you have one spare or anyone you know can let you borrow one.
If it still turns off and on even in areas with good reception, I would send it back with a note describing what you have already done to try solving the issue.
They should now be able to do a much better job.
Pitty they didn't fixed it in the first place, but it could be something you add to it that the Nokia care point didn't have in hand...

Need help with navigation on E63

I am new to this forum and i got a question about the navigation for my nokia e63.
I bought the telephone and i saw it has navigation, but how do i access it? are there any maps installed?
Is it like a route66/ tomtom or what so ever?
What do i need to buy to get it working, i have serious no clue and i need some advice.

If you go to Applications, you should see an application called Maps. It is Nokia's own navigation software called Nokia Maps.
It is free to use it to show you where you are on the map. To use it for navigation with directions you will have to pay. Most Nokia phones come with a limited period trial navigation license. If you like it after the trial. you can purchase a license.

'Application not compatible' on E63

its no longer news that some applications instead of installing directly, will show 'Application not compatible with phone. Continue anyway.' this occurs @ times in nokia e63. I just feel bad wen installing such applications but i jsut wanna know if there're grave consequences waitin after d installation of such files. Thank you!

E63 wont connect to computer in media transfer mod...

Can anyone help, when i plug my E63 by usb to my computer and chose media transfer mode my computer no longer reads that its pluged in

Most likely you have a driver problem. Are you using Nokia PC Suite or OVI Suite?

Problem with e63(switch option),

hai friends,my name is anil,i am using nokia e 63 from past 1 yr.recently i updated firmware,i.e., 30 days back,from 2 days when ever i was trying to use switch option it is saying " DISC ERROR-CANNOT COMMUNICATE;RETRY OR DATA WILL BE LOST"

Ah, I see. Reset the E63. Dial *#7370# 12345 reformat, you'll lose all data. Make a backup first and restore without the settings.

E63 compatibility with CK-7W Bluetooth hands free ...

The E63 does not appear in the compatible phones list for the CK-7W. Is this an oversight or is there really a problem? Can't really understand why there should be but if so perhaps someone could explain please?
