my nokia e63 maps nd gps is nt wrkn aftr i updated my phone softwre (india)
error - cannot open maps ..install latest verson of nokia /maps
nor i m getting maps for my e63 in nokia store nd ovi suite nd pc suite too

Well I had updated Cydia and then I couldn't get past the apple logo. So then I restored it--erased everything and also had to re-jailbreak. That forced me to update to ios 4.2. After that, it's when the gps was always weak.
Point of me saying this is I've already restored it, which kind of brought me to the problem in the first place.
I'll restart and reset but if I restored it again, wouldn't i have to re-jailbreak it again? I really dont want to go through that again.
I cannot get a new phone as since I lost my one (of 2) part time jobs (which lasted 4 months), I'm down to about 240 a MONTH. I'm quite broke. I was quite broke when I got the phone as a hand me down from a friend for 150.

  • Nokia Map vs GPS Data

    New owner of the 6220 classic. Can anyone tell me something about the relation between the Nokia Maps applicaton and the app called GPS Data?
    Sven

    Nokia Maps is a navigation software which allows you to plot you position on a map and also allows you to navigate to a known destination on the map.
    GPS Data on the other hand gives you raw information such as your location in coordinate form (latitude/longitude), speed etc., and has no navigation function. It will also point you towards your destination but purely in vector form.

  • E 51 freezing with maps and GPS

    My E 51 is sometimes freezing while using maps with GPS LD4W.
    Anybody any idea why? I happens most of the time after using maps for a few hours without problem.

    You assume your company is a "Destination"?
    People are going to navigate from East McKeysport just to come visit you?
    Garmin works everywhere, even where there is no cell coverage like the middle of
    Alaska, Texas, and the desert south west. Even getting GSM signals there is a challenge. Forget 3G.
    Garmins (and tomtoms) are optimized for driving. You can even get voice command versions. You can download new map yearly. (How quick do you think they build new roads?).
    You get turn by turn voice directions, Lane change hints, Speed Camera warnings, waypoint info, and bluetooth interface with your phone. It imports your phone's phone book, lets you dial on the screen, Knows the phone numbers of all the hotels along your route, reads your text messages to you in your native language, calculates your ETA, advises you of traffic snarls and routes you around them, records your trip log, gets current gas prices from MSN, and Yes, even recommends restaurants. It delivers you to the proper side of the street when you select and address, not on the wrong side of 6 lanes of traffic. It tells you what the current speed limit is, knows which streets are one way and even show traffic levels. It projects an image similar to the road layout and instantly recalculates your route when you don't pay attention and miss a turn.
    If you want that in a phone, you better hope Garmin slaps a phone chip in the Personal Navigation Devices, as they were rumoring to be planning. Its much easier to fit a phone into a complex gadget than to fit the Gadget into a phone.
    If you think your iPhone, or any phone is going to do all that for you, you are delusional.

  • Nokia 5800 Maps and GPS

    I live in New Zealand and will be travelling too Hawaii next month, if I use the phone for GPS will I be charged for global roaming data?

    Hi, yes you will incurr data roaming charges, previous advice was correct, to disable AGPS you can go into setting-phone-phone mgmt-Application Settings-Positioning-Positioning methods, and un-tick everything except intergrated GPS, this will incur no data charges, and phone will work like a TOMTOM.
    Good Luck (though you probably don't need it, you live in NZ and are going to Hawiai !!! Enjoy your trip)

    My maps are not showing buildings with clarity. They have no color. It's like my maps are outdated but my ipad is fully updated. I can't get the option of views in my ipad. Like the downtown view and stuff. Please help.

    What locations are you seeing these "problems"? If the satellite photos are older or not as clear, you may see some of what you describe. Take a look at one of the major cities and see if they are also appearing as you describe. Someplace like New York, London, Paris. Those are among the cities that seem to be updated most frequently.
    Incidentally, the maps are web/cloud based and not contained within the maps app on your iPad, so regardless of the version of your app, you will still get the most current map available.

    It's not likely to re-connect to a network lying on the ground somewhere and getting rained on, it would be really great if I could see that map again so I could use it's last known location to find it.  Kind of pointless to have a 24 hr killswitch deadline.  If I had known I would have taken a screen-shot while I still had access to the information.  Since I lost the phone at Canada's Wonderland (which is now closed for the season) I don't have access to the location where I lost the phone (under a roller-coaster probably), and so I wanted to send the Lost And Found people a screen-shot of it's last known location, but I guess I can't do that now.  (Apple are big jerks)

    I don't know if this helps, but I'm still working on this problem and took a screen shot of my Console Message errors:
    What's happening here is opening the program, trying to save and it crashes. Then trying to open the program again and it crashing before it even opens.  Finally opening the program a third time and trying to save it using "save as" instead of "save" (which I found one forum recommending) and it crashing again.

  • Mapping and GPS

    Device: 920 Windows phone
    My friend has a Droid  with an app that allows you, once it has your current gps, to speak an address into the phone and get step by step driving locations to that location.  We're both on Verizon.
    Is anything similar available for Nokia 920 Windows phone?
    I have to add My experience with the Here Drive-Beta is pretty miserable.  It does not seem to accept specific addresses in the search block so it's very time consuming and distracting when you're driving.
      She can drive and very easily speak an address to the phone and then we're guided turn by turn to the destination. Very handy when your house hunting or looking for a restaurant.
    My research so far has not found anything similar for my phone so I'm hoping for somebody to prove me wrong.

    From what I have read on both this forum and Crackberry's Verizon 8330 GPS is not enabled unless you pay for VZ Navigator. However, Google maps uses cell towers as well to triangulate your position, if your GPS is disabled. Google Maps works real well, as long as you can live with being APPROXIMATLEY on a location. In my case I am within 5,000 meters while at home. When I travel downtown I've had it go to within 500 meters. I believe that difference is the amount of cell towers in the area.
    Google maps is free, VZnavigator is a monthly fee of around $10 I think.
    Hope this helps!

  • Working with maps and GPS tracklogs

    Hi all,
    So I've figured out how to get my photos onto a map and then import the "tracklog" from the camera's GPS to show the neat little blue line of where I've walked on that day's shoot.  But I'm having trouble switching the map display simply from one day to the next.  Is there something I can click on to get another folder from the library up on the screen with its tracklog?  I must be doing something wrong.  I seem to have to bring in the tracklog each time I go back to the library to click on a new folder.  Thanks for your help!  Here's a screenshot of a recent photowalk around Barcelona, Spain.

    <html:options collection="mapaColecao" property="key" labelProperty="lblProperty"/>
    Of course, a Map is not the best thing for this, since sort order isn't guaranteed. Well, if the Map were a TreeMap, it is by key. And maybe html:options doesn't like Maps, only Lists? Not sure on that one.
    Normally, you'd have a List collection, and each object would be an object which has "property" and "labelProperty" as methods, so...
    public List getAtributosColecao() {
       List list = new ArrayList();
       list.add(new OptionItem("colecao","Coleo");
       list.add(new OptionItem("descricao","Descrio");
    public class OptionItem {
       private String value;
       private String label;
       public OptionItem(String v, String l) { value = v; label = l; }
       public String getValue() { return value; }
       public String getLabel() { return label; }
    List mapa = colecaoGer.getAtributosColecao();
    request.setAttribute("mapaColecao", mapa);
                <html:select property="myBean" size="1">
                    <html:options collection="mapaColecao" property="value" labelProperty="label"/>
                </html:select>

  • Can I use offline maps with GPS on the 5C?

    I am going on vacation abroad soon and my new iPhone 5C will be non-roaming because of the stupidly expensive internet data charges when out of the phone provider's home country. I will probably even pull the SIM card out to be 100% sure.
    But I would still like to use it for GPS positioning when I am out walking about and then I must use off-line maps (like I have done with Google Maps on my Android phone).
    Is it possible to download off-line maps to the iPhone while I am in the hotel and have a Wi-Fi connection and then the phone will use the downloaded maps when I am walking about the place outside of WiFi range?
    If so, how do I set it up?

    On the Android phone I have used MyTacks, which I believe is a Google app. I use version 1.1.16 currently and it is NOT able to use cached maps even though I can save maps in Google Maps for offline use while driving.
    So if I use Google Maps I can see where I am now on the downloaded offline map, but there is no tracing of the walked path being done. If I use My Tracks it records the track but I cannot see it on a map until I am back in WiFi range.
    I had hoped for the iPhone 5C to at least provide the possibility to use cached maps when locating my position....
    What app do you suggest I use?

  • MacOS 10.9's Maps and GPS

    Recently, I upgraded my late-2012 slimline iMac from MacOS 10.8 "Mountain Lion" to MacOS 10.9 "Mavericks". Also recently, my parents replaced an aging white MacBook with a refurbished late-2013 13-inch MacBook Pro with Retina Display. Now both machines run on MacOS 10.9.
    One new feature for both my parents and myself is Maps. We occasionally use a handheld DeLorme Earthmate PN-40 GPS receiver for travel (finding key points, directions, etc.), as well as recording needed coordinates for recreational trails inspections and maintenance work bees and other activities. DeLorme does not provide GPS interface software for MacOS. We have, however, used Google Earth in the past to load GPX files off of the PN-40's SD card.
    Short of loading Microsoft Windows onto our respective computers, is there a way to extract GPS waypoint coordinates and GPX route files from the SD card to display and manipulate in MacOS 10.9's Maps?
    Also: if there a way to manually type in GPS coordinates into Maps to display and/or record points of interest for future reference and use in e-mail communiqués, newsletters, reports, etc.?
    Thanks in advance.

    You can enter the GPS coordinates manually into Maps using the search field.  Here is an example of entering the decimal GPS coordinates for the Empire State Building in NYC.
    I also tried it on the GPS location for my house, and it went to the correct location.  Just remember that Maps is a street navigation tool.  It will try to find a nearby street address (if there is one) to associate with the coordinates you enter.

  • Blackberry Maps on Storm (Verizon) - How can I recenter the map during GPS tracking?

    Greets folks!
    I'm hoping someone has an answer, or can point me to documentation.
    I've recently moved to a new city and have found the Maps app to be very helpful.  However there's one nagging question that's driving me crazy; how can I recenter the map on my GPS position after moving the map?
    I'll be using GPS navigation, and either accidentally or deliberately scroll the map.  The GPS navigation icon still shows navigation is still taking place, and if I scroll the map manually back to my position it still shows the location icon.  However the map no longer moves with the location icon.
    Any way to set the map to center on the location icon again?  The only option I've found so far is to stop and restart GPS navigation which takes time, etc.
    John E.

    Hello Falconeer and welcome to the forums!
    When using the Maps application you should be able to snap back to your location so long as you have "GPS Navigation" set to started and your position is currently being tracked.  If you pan off the course and lose sight of your position you should be able to press the "Escape" key immediately to the left of the "End Call" button while viewing the map.  Just make sure that you only press it once or you may find yourself looking at the directions list again.
    hope this helps

  • N 95 maps for GPS

    Hallo all.
    I have the problem with maps for the GPS.
    Nokia sais on it's WEB-site "Map data is available for more than 150 countries. Navigation is supported for 30 countries".
    There is also said that non-navigable maps are available for the following countries in America:
    Anguilla, Antigua and Barbuda, Argentina, Aruba, Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Bermuda, Bolivia, Brazil (part of which is not covered by the navegable map), British Virgin Islands, Cayman Islands, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Dominica, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Falkland Islands, French Guiana, Grenada, Guadeloupe, Guatemala, Guyana, Haiti, Honduras, Jamaica, Martinique, Mexico (part of which is not covered by the navegable map), Montserrat, Netherlands Antilles, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Puerto Rico, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, Saint Pierre and Miquelon, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Suriname, Trinidad and Tobago, Turks and Caicos Islands, United States Virgin Islands, Uruguay, Venezuela
    Map loader that was installed on my computer offers just a few of them. Any idea, how to get the rest? In particular, I need the map of Cuba. Unfortunately local support can't help me on that issue.

    When i did try the map loader it gives only the maps which you can use to navigate, i din even know that Nokia does offer the mentioned maps. could anyone please advise how do we get these maps??

  • When using Maps as GPS,  screen keeps going off - iPhone 3G

    When I use maps as a gps, how do I stop the screen from going off?

    But, that makes the auto-lock feature be turned off for all usages. What about if you only want the screen to stay on while you're using Maps? I have to turn off the auto-lock every time and then go back and turn it back on? It seems like this should be a setting in the Maps app instead of having to change the master settings.
