Only the carrier can unlock your iPhone.

  • I bought my Ipad 3 in china and all the apps I might buy are priced in Chinese Yuan. how can I convert the prices to £ please?

I bought my Ipad 3 in China and all the apps are priced in Chinese Yuan. how can I get them converted on screen to English £?

You can only purchase from the App Store in the country in which you are located and you must have a valid credit card that is registered to an address within that county. If you bought the iPad in China, but you live in another country, you have to change to your country's App Store.
Go to the App Store and tap on the featured tab. Swipe to the bottom and tap on your Apple ID. Them tap on View Apple ID. Enter your password. Go down to Country/Region and change the store to your country's App Store in that Setting.

  • Hi, I got a gift card for 100 euro bought in Europe, but I can not put it on my U.S. account. What should I do? Thanks

Hi, I got a gift card for 100 euro bought in Europe, but I can not put it on my U.S. account. What should I do? Thanks

iTunes gift cards are only valid on accounts based in the country in which the card was issued - so if you have a US account then you can only use US gift cards. Do you know anybody in the country where you bought it from that you could sell or give it to ? Or you could try selling it on a site such as eBay.

  • I bought an iPhone 5s in China and the maps app is different.  When I go to the US will I be able to use Apple's native app or will I be stuck with this one?

So I wanted to ask a question that my googlefoo couldn't help me solve.
I bought an iphone at a reputable electronics market here in China and it is an AT&T model phone.  I bought it at one of the grey market locations because they were sold out elsewhere.  I contacted a friend at AT&T to make sure it is a legit AT&T model.  The phone is great and everything works perfectly including maps.  But maps are done by Autonavi here in China, not Apple.  I downloaded the Mavericks update on my mac and tried some of the new maps features and they wouldn't work with my phone.  That's okay since I live in China now but I'll be going back to the USA soon and I wonder what will happen.  Will it update the app to Apple's native one or stay with Autonavi.  Autonatvi does not have the flyover features and it is not robust in the USA.
Who can help me out here?  Has anyone purchased a 5, 5c, or 5s in China and gone elsewhere?  Did the maps app change?
    Thank you
tl;dr my china iphone has autonavi for maps not apple, when I go to the usa will I get the native app?

I live in China as well and my iPhone5s is the model A1530 I bougth outside China. I have the same problem as Nikatnight with the iPhone while the iPad Air (wifi only) is working like a charm. It must be definitely something related to the carrier since I was abroad few days ago and everything worked well.
If you pay attention at the source of your maps, you'll discover they are provided by AutoNavi instead of TomTom and make them appear in chinese with their own border interpretation. Queries are only acceppted in Chinese (p.e. if I type in english "Los Angeles International Airport"  it replies it cannot locate it)
I suppose everything will be fine when you'll be out of censorship....
Perhaps iOS  Apple Maps are absolutely useless for expatriate in China.
    Use Google Maps instead
BTW, I'm surprised how much Apple might prostrate towards hard power Governments.... No matter what, money are always on top!

  • Why my unlocked iPhone is not working with SIM card bought in Europe (it shows SIM card l

I bought unlocked iPhone in Apple store in US with a thought that I could also use it when travelling to Europe. I've bought SIM card there, place it in my iPhone, but It's not working. Still it shows that card is locked for some reason. What can I do to solve this problem?

Which Carrier's  sim exactly did you buy and in which Country ?
You are sure you purchased an unlocked rather than Sim free iPhone ??

  • IPad bought in Europe, work in US?

I live in Europe (Luxembourg and bought my iPad2 here) and will travel to the US in July. Does my iPad work there? Does it depend where I will travel in the US?

I understand that from recent advertising you can get contract-free service and pay month to month, now. So, I think you may find it less of a problem to get short-term service while you are traveling here.
I don't think you have to buy a separate SIM for each state you visit. ATT has national service plans that are good anywhere in the US. I know we don't need to do that for our cell phones.

  • New Macbook bought in Thailand - problems

Wondering if anyone has any helpful suggestions.
Just bought a Macbook 13.3 1ghz, 80gb hard drive combo drive.
All well and good and also purchased iworks 08 software as the internet over here is not the greatest and didn't want to have to purchase and download it online.
I bought all this from an apple authorised premium reseller. They insisted on me leaving everything with them overnight, so they could set it all up, load the software on, including Leopard. I didn't question this.
Picked up next day. and then the problems started. First of all I found they'd set up a password on the admin account so I couldn't change any admin settings/system preferences.
Also, I noticed that the old system had been left on the hard drive and the new operating system installled in addition. Is this normal??
For a standard install there seems to be an awful lot of hard drive space being used...from an 80gb hard drive I have 49gb available.
The old system is using 7gb and the new about 4gb.
I took it back in and they insisted no password was set but that the field had been left blank..but they still had to use the os install disc to boot from and reset password.
I queried the hard drive space but they said this was standard proceedure for a mac.
I can't find any way of contacting Apple via email direct and time difference makes phoning difficult.
    I'd really like to know
    1. what I should have had in the box
    2. whether I can insist that it's set back to factory settings and I'm given the discs to load everythign myself
    3. If there's any way of checking whether this really is the standard proceedure/installation/setup for a macbook.
    Thanks for any help/suggestions.

This just gets worse and worse!
Thank you for the helpful suggestions - I took the advice and downloaded the most recent (dec 2007) spec from Apple Asia. The hardware seemed to check out (did 'about this mac') but the software no..I am supposed to have 10.5 Leopard discs.
So back I go to the shop (in Phuket for those interested - iStudio). It seems that the shop assistants failed to inform us we were in actual fact buying a model /a not model /b. which means we are in fact only supposed to have Tiger. Also I should have been told when I bought the Mac that it was the older model from this year and that's why the price! What price? I paid full whack as listed in the online shop!! And why I asked regardless of all this do I have a version of Leopard loaded as well as Tiger but only Tiger disks? Yes I think you're right, the oh so then helpful assistant loaded a bootleg version of leopard on there with ilife etc (I'd bought a retail version of iworks 08). When I saw him today he flatly denied when confronted by the technician having dealt with me, and then when I pointed out he'd filled out my sales receipt he denied saying he'd loaded Leopard, or asking me to come back in next day for the laptop or in fact pretty much anything I put to him.
Thailand is not the best of places for confrontation...you have to keep smiling no matter what which is pretty difficult when you're trying to show that you're not happy about the service you're getting.
I've since this all started written off for the upgrade discs for Leopard (available apparently for those buying Macs between Oct & Dec 2007).
They're still insisting I bring the macbook in AGAIN but to be honest I've now lost patience. I bought a Mac because I believed there were certain standards that were upheld no matter where the reseller etc. I've tried to get hold of Apple Asia repeatedly and they're office seems to be on permanent vacation! I'll take you're advice tomorrow and call the centre in Bangkok and see what they have to say about all this.
I have to wait 1 month for the discs and then I'll be resetting the macbook back to its original state pre-being messed about with by complete nits.
Strangely enough the receipt says no returns and no refunds...now I wonder why that is.

  • E65 - 2,5 hour problem with time when synchronizin...

    Hey everybody
I sincerely hope you guys can answer me on a pretty nasty problem. I have synchronized my E65 with my outlook, but EVERY single entry has moved exactly 2,5 hours forward, so all my meetings now starts 2,5 hours later than usually when i look at my phone.
Vice versa when i make a meeting in my phone an synchronize back to outlook - the meeting starts 2,5 hours EARLIER than i typed it.
At least it is ALL my meetings, but what is wrong and how do i fix it??
I have the latest firmware and i have the latest PC suite and im running GMT+1 on my laptop.
    HELP ????
    Sincerly Regitze, Copenhagen, Denmark

Were you ever able to figure out this issue? I'm having the same problem except that I'm getting a 5 hour difference. Any ideas?
    Thanks

  • Wiki Access Problem in China!!

    Hey, Guys!
I am a Chinese student in college in Shanghai. It seems that our government have deployed a way to restrict its people's access to informations outside, specifically political truth. Wiki is such a great free encyclopedia. Unfortunately, Wiki is in their black list. We, the China Mainland residents, couldn't use Wiki normally. Although, we do have access to the secure version, but the images there aren't loaded. If some of you can help me with it?! And by this, I mean, it's there any way to bypass DNS? Cause how the government implanted it is just direct www.wiki.com to a non-existing web address. Some other guys told me that they find a way to successfully bypass DNS on Windows.
    Thank you a zillion!

I'm sorry for your plight. Unfortunately I don't think you're going to find a solution here.
Assuming someone told you how to leverage some kind of proxy server to bypass the Great Firewall of China, doing so would likely result in this site getting blocked to people in China, which isn't going to make Apple happy.
BTW, the problem is likely to be deeper than just DNS since if it were only down to the DNS anyone could tell you that www.wikipedia.org is at 66.230.200.100 and you could enter that into your browser without using DNS at all.

  • Chinese language for a phone bought in Europe.

I bought my phone in Bulgaria, and it is preloaded with English language and some other languages example - Bulgarian.
I would like to use it in China, because i live and work here, so i hope that i can install Chinese language to be able to read, write and send chinese SMS and read and browse chinese language websites.
please tell me what to do so that i can have
English / Bulgarian / Chinese at the same time

I wanted to buy this phone in HK, and if i had bought it there everything would be great. But they had it sold out, so i tried to buy it in Holland, then Belgium, France but the price was killing ( double the HK's price). Finally i found it in Bulgaria at a reasonable price.
Now i am in the middle of a big struggle how to make it read and write simplified chinese. Some friends told me that it is easily done if i go to a 'service' and they FLASH my phone, but as i know that after your phone has been flashed, it is usually ready to be thrown away, i dont really dare to do that, so i thought that there could be a better solution.
E-71 is my phone, and this one is a really masterpiece !
I want to tell Nokia that they finally did a phone that is working! I have been using Nokia for 10 years, and this is the first one which is really good !
All the other **bleep** i had is so slow that you can take a nap between commands.
    thanks for the reply !
I will go to ask Nokia, but i know that the result is.

  • Iphone bought in europe and used in the states

If I buy an iphone while I'm living in europe will I be able to take it with me to the states and buy a data plan and plug in an att sim? and if you guys don't know the answer does anyone know a contact point to have the question answered?
It would seem strange to me that if I buy a phone in one country I'd be unable to use it in another, it is after a global world these days

You would need to buy an unlocked phone authorized by Apple. I believe Italy & Belgium both sell an unlocked version. If you had a problem with the phone, you would need to return it to the country of origin for repair/replacement.
