E65 Silence Key

Hello all,
I own a Nokia E65 and I have the latest firmware. When I receive a call my only 2 options are Answer or Reject. I've read the doc but cannot find a way to silence the call (ie stop the phone from ringing without rejecting the call).
Any idea?
Thanks in advance.

That's it! You're right I just tested it.
With the general profile I can silence a call then reject it. It is kind of retarded that this function isn't available when the phone is setup to be silent: I created a profile that makes it vibrate and it would have been nice to be able to make it stop.
Bottom line, I modified my 'vibrate' profile to have no tones but with a 'ringing' ringing type instead of 'silent'... Now I get to silence calls even though the phone doesn't ring. Guess an engineer designed that.
Thanks for the help.

I just took a look at the manual and it it absolutely pathetic. Never in a month of Sundays did I think that such an obvious function would not be mentioned. My apologies if I came across as condescending.

    Hello kyan
I didn't understand clearly what you were saying, but that info I got from the Nokia Care Point assistant. He told me they were trying to solve an hardware problem by software, and that is what I really don't understand, how it can be made, but I'll wait...
And I agree with you, Nokia surely lost future buyers due to the "no-update, no-info, no-concerns" policy they took regarding Nokia E65 costumers...
I'm annoyed with this, but the truth is that I experienced very few bugs in my E65, rather less bugs than the tons of bugs mencioned in some threads. But of course I would want some minor updates to some annoying bugs.
    Cheers

  • IPhone 6 purchased online, supposed to be new but is refurbished. Don't know why I spent the full price to receive this piece pre-owned s...tuff?

I Ordered a new iPhone6 (64Gb unlocked) on Apple website. After I deboxed , I found the pin used to extract the nano SIM card missing, and the user manual missing, and the silence key on the side stuck half way, no matter how I tried to push it. Then I borrow someone else's pin to extract the SIM card slot. I found a SIM card in there.
Great, the SIM card is working, when I turn on the power. So apparently, Apple sold me a refurbished iPhone6 at full price. Terrible feeling. I will definitely be worried if I order again from Apple
going to exchange for for a 'new' one from the Apple retail store. Sigh....

To the best of my knowledge, Apple is not selling unlocked phones yet. All the phones are intended for specific carriers. In the U.S., at least, phones that are sold for specific carriers come with an included SIM and no SIM removal tool. There is also no manual. Please not that full retail price  or "contract free" does not mean "unlocked". So, none of that indicates a refurbished phone.
The issue with the mute switch sounds like a defect. However, are the phone is under warranty, Apple will replace it if that's the case.

  • TS1630 My phone will not ring for calls or text messages. It also will not play music out loud.

My phone will not ring for messages or texts. It also will not play music outloud. I know it's not the speakers because it does make noise when I type in my password and sometimes when I am in the settings for the ringtone. It will not make the message sounds in settings. With headphones it makes noise. I don't know what to do and I've tried all the settings. Has this happened to anyone else? The silence key on the side is off. I've tried restarting it, but it does not work. Sometimes it will make noise when I am typing, but only a few times. I haven't dropped it and I have an otterbox, so I don't know what would cause it to do this...?

Everyone you are way over thinking this as did i at first. My wife had the same issue. there is i switch right above the volume button as demonstrated  on this link. its designed for lets say you into a class or meeting you can switch the phone to silent quck and easy.

  • Missing Features from Z1 - Flip to Silence, Any key answer

    Hi,
I've been using android for a bit now and have come to appreciate some subtle features available on the samsung touch wiz as well as the CM mod which are..
    1) Any key to answer a call (Volume, power, etc) so i dont have to open the flap on the phone to see the screen.
    2) Flip to silence. (Turn the phone over and it mutes the ringer and vibrator)
These are standard android capabilities and are present in vanila android 4.0 onwards.
If these functions are present in the latest update of the Z1, please let me know how to activate them. If not, please let me know the timeline to implement these rather simple features.
    Thanks,
    Mystic
Don't forget to give Kudos and / or mark the correct answer.

unfortunately it seems that you are right, it doesn't work anymore with the accelerometer I'm sure it have something to do with the update (sadly I just applied it to make sure I have the same version as you do) :/ It did work.. it doesn't now. So now we have to wait for the fix.. :/
Anyway, it is a good app and still full of useful features. Especially useful for me with my flip cover, it locks/unlocks the screen just by opening the cover.
I'm sorry the flip over doesn't work, I didn't know about it. It was ok before the update tho :/ I'm sure they'll fix it eventually...
When everything have failed already, try to read the manual.
Kudos mean I am helpful. Am I for you? Then support me back

    Hello,
Could someone who has a E71 (or E71-3) please try this? I'm wondering if it's a fw bug, or something with my phone only:
    Menu->Tools->Settings->General->Personalization->
    One-touch keys->Messaging key->Short press
Select "Camera", or "Clock" (I'm actually trying GMail, but maybe you don't have it installed).
Go back to the main screen, press the Messaging one-touch key.
    I get:
"Item no longer available. Restoring default key setting"
I found a similar report for the E65 on the web (no solution).
The local Nokia support asked me to "send the phone to a repair center" because at the support center they "don't have a E71 to try that" (!!)
Mine is a 10-day old E71-3 (850/2100, Brazilian WCDMA band), 100.07.76 fw (no update available for its 0567733 product code).

  • E65 "easy access keys" not working

    Hi,
Has anybody encounered a phenomenon where the four "easy access buttons" stops responding?
They actually do respond in that if the keypad is locked, pressing one of the four will invoke the unlock procedure.
But pressing on them (when the keypad is unlocked, of course) does nothing.
All other keys (soft keys, call, end, menu, C, select & scroll) work okay.
Rebooting the device fixes the problem but this happend to me more than once and it's bugging me to reboot the device every time it happens.
    Is it only me?

    Hi,
I'm almost sure that it's because of the 3rd party applications installed on your device (such as: HandyAlarm, HandyProfiles, BestAlarms, etc.) These applications have such a bug that cause the easy access keys to stop working! I used the master reset code: *#7370# and when my phone restarted, I didn't installed any of these programs; it is working perfect!

I am trying to set up a new iphone on my verizon account.  I backed up the old iphone on the icloud first.  Now I can't activate the new one without a wifi connection, but it won't give me the option to use a network key instead of a password to connect to my home wifi.  We don't have a password, we have a network key, and if I try to input the network key like with all my other devices into the password bar, it doesn't work.
How do I input a network key?

  • Easy Keys and Fn+F8 (WLAN on/off) don't work

    Hello guys,
I have bought a new Toshiba Satellite A100-490 last week. I have tested all hot keys and function keys with the pre-installed Windows XP MCE. Everything worked.
But I needed a new customized installation of Windows XP Professional and Windows Server 2003 on the notebook. So I installed the XP Pro from a original CD-ROM and all Toshiba drivers, except of some special Managers (Assist, Config Free, SD Memory Format, Wireless LAN Client Manager, ...).
From the Easy Keys (Browser, Media Player, Play/Pause, Stop, Backward, Forward) only the Browser and Media Player Easy Key work. Which driver is responsible for the other Easy Keys (Play/Pause, Stop, Backward, Forward)?
The next problem is, that the Fn+F8 (WLAN switch) hot key doesn't work. But when I disable the WLAN over the hardware switch, there comes a MessageBox that I have to enable the WLAN over the hardware switch first. Normally there has to come a On-Screen-Display. What is wrong?
    Please help me. Thanks!

  • Auto trim out silence at beginning and end?

    Audition 3
Anyone know if there is an option to automatically trim out the silence at the beginning and end of audio file?  If so, how?

Sorry, no there isn't* - and if there was, most people wouldn't use it because a really hard start or end is rarely what's required. Anyway, it wouldn't really be any quicker than just highlighting the amount of silence you want to remove, and hitting the 'delete' key - and that method has the advantage of letting you select exactly where to trim.
*Unless it's digital silence, in which case there's an option under edit>automark - but this won't work with anything other than digital silence at the start and/or end.

  • E65-How to disable diacritic/accented letters when...

    Hi,
I've got Nokia E65, the phone language and writing language are English.
When I try to write a messageand press the key 6
    it produces the following sequence:
    mno6öøòóôõñ (accented o and n letters)
It does the same for other keys as well.
Is there a way I can disable the accented letters so they would not appear when typing messages?
I've tried to search for a solution but couldn't find any leads.

John, perhaps it works in CS5 but not in CS3.
Peter, the problem is not in the replacement word or looping through that array backwards or forwards. The problem is finding a word with an accented character using the GREP mode.
In using the Find/Replace dialog I cannot find André. Nor Andr\x{00E9}, using Unicode. So if the dialog won't work it appears a script won't work. If I use "Andre" in the Search field it will find "Andre" and "André."
However I did find that if I change the GREP function in the script to the text mode I can find only words with accented characters and then replace them to my heart's content.

You are indeed correct -- the old Microsoft link is dead.
I have corrected the Post, thanks for the update.
I am sorry the link is no longer active; the content was not my own -- the link pointed to a Microsoft file.  I suspect whatever solution was posted in the file is no longer valid, hence the removal of the document and the link.
You can certainly call Microsoft -- except for the usual hassle one associates with calling any Response Center, calling Microsoft is not worse than calling any of the rest:
You may have to wait in the queue,
You might need to wade through endless menus and never find a topic that fits your situation,
You might be shuttled between silence and beeps and odd musical interludes,
    and then --
Finally, when you are connected with a live person -
The Technician might accidentally disconnect the call when you are transferred one last time...
    Piece of cake.
    Smiling.
    ========================================================
On the other hand, I have talked to Microsoft on occasion when I have needed help -- and they have been pretty good about providing me the assistance I needed.
If you have your receipts, that is, you can at least prove you purchased the software, you should be golden.

  • E65 and CW-7K carkit

Just replaced my 6230i with the E65. I have a CW-7K carkit, with MBC15 holder.
From several discussions here i understand that my initial thought of just replacing the holder with one that fits the E65 can be difficult.
My needs are: ( prioritized )
Sound through and mute off the car radio and speakers, and voice input through CW-7K microphone.
Operating the numeric keys when placed in the holder.
    Charging the phone while driving.
    Connection to the external antenna.
Does anybody know if this is possible, or at least integration of sound and charging in the holder and access to 123keys when in holder ?
Is there any 3. party products that integrate to the phone
    ( i know of the Brodit holder ) ?
