E65 slow

i have a E65 with 2GB memory card the problem is it takes aprox 1 min to open galery i think this is too s;ow any ideas

Hello mmchesh,
I also have a 2Gb mem card, and as far as I know, it takes several time because the phone loads all the picture thumbs every time you open gallery.
I read this somewhere on the web, so I think the more pictures you have the slower it is.
I tried right now on my E65, I have 140 pics and it took me almost 45 seconds to open. Then tried a second time, and it took only a second or two.
I think it really is the phone cacheing the thumbs, but even that should be faster, it really is annoying to wait this much...
Hope this helps.

  • Slow Upgrade to 785GM-E65

    Hi,
    I am interested in migrating my current HTPC (Asus M2A-VM HDMI) to the 785GM-E65 motherboard. I want to take advantage of some existing components however, as I don't want to absorb the expense all at once. I've read various online reviews and have gotten some conflicting data. My questions:
    Is this mobo compatible with AM2+ CPUs? I want to use a Phenom X4 9750 for now, and move to an Athlon II X3/4 at a later time
    Can I use DDR2 800Mhz memory with this unit? Again, with this notion of moving to DDR3 in the future.
    Thanks!

    No, the board only takes AM3 CPU and DDR3 memory.
    http://eu.msi.com/index.php?func=prodmbspec&maincat_no=1&cat2_no=&cat3_no=&prod_no=1864
    To reuse parts you need to take an AM2+ (AM3 ready) board with DDR2 slots.
    Then you cvan use AM2(+) and AM3 CPU's, but not DDR3 memory.
    If you goto an AM3 board you have to move all of it now.
    Else go AM2+ board and you can use an AM3 CPU in it later (if the board is AM3 ready)
    See a sample of such a board: http://eu.msi.com/index.php?func=proddesc&maincat_no=1&prod_no=1642

  • E65 default browser... too slow and without memory...

    When i click on a link in an email/SMS message, the default browser (services)automatically opens.
    If i set the browser to the minimal font size and to avoid images, the browser doesen't mantain the settings and if i open a link from another message the browser loads images and show text at the medium font size.
    Do you know if there is a way to set Opera Mobile as default browser or to memorize settings in the default browser when opened from email/sms application?
    Thank You

    Hi, there are ways to do it if you can live with certain restrictions.
                BufferedImage img=new BufferedImage(32,32,BufferedImage.TYPE_INT_ARGB);
                img.setRGB(10,15,0x01020304);   // a=1 r=2 g=3 b=4
                WritableRaster r=img.getRaster();
                DataBuffer db=r.getDataBuffer();
                if (db.getDataType() != DataBuffer.TYPE_INT)
                    throw new IllegalStateException("Hey that must be a int!");
                if (db.getNumBanks() != 1)
                    throw new IllegalStateException("Uh - Someone else got to do this job!");
                DataBufferInt dbi=(DataBufferInt)db;
                int[] data=dbi.getData();
                System.out.println(" Pixel (10,15) = "+Integer.toHexString(data[10+32*15]));
                // Test: No coy
                data[10+32*15]=0xaabbccdd;
                System.out.println(" Pixel (10,15) = "+Integer.toHexString(data[10+32*15]));As you see it works best if you can set the pixel format and if it only contains a single array of data (i.e. bank).

  • New firmware for Nokia E65?

    Hi!
    I've heard many who have updated their Nokia E65 to firmware v3.0633.69.00 but my updater still says v2.0633.65.01 . Where do I get the v3?
    And my E65 is very very very slow to open menus and messages. Anyone else got this problem? How can I fix this sluggish phone and make it faster? It sometimes take 5-6 seconds to open the menu or an SMS. That's realy bad

    Hello itmn,
    I updated my E65 to v3 at Nokia Care Point (even though it was not available in NSU, they told me they always receive the firmware upgrades first than they are released to the Internet/NSU).
    After a couple of weeks using this new firmware, I noticed battery improvements (with 3G switched off), the phone is little to nothing faster, and some minor bugs I was experiencing related to WLAN were corrected.
    As to your E65 being slow, I once was experiencing the same with v2 firmware and the only solution I managed to fix it was to reset the phone.
    I reseted after a back up, but then decided to restore only contacts and calendar entries, and reinstall all the applications from new/fresh downloads (as I noticed some of them didn't work if they were restored from the back up).
    In the end, the phone was faster and more responsive.
    I guess you could give it a try.
    Cheers

  • Slow apps due to several calendar applications

    Morning.
    I use several applications they are using calendar data: iCal, MenuCalendarClock, iBiz, MailTags, iSync (Nokia E65), several subscribed calendars, several published calendars (on .mac and on private servers).
    Some of them are very slow at startup (MenuCalendarClock, iBiz).
    Would it be a good idea to rebuild the calendar database? How could I do that? What whould you suggest?
    TIA and kind regards, Friedrich

    Netflix, and other similar services, adapt to the connection whereas iTunes content is at a fixed rate. It will need to load a portion before playback begins.
    Some common things to check
    What is your current connection, use speedtest.net
    Make sure DNS is set to automatic (settinga - general - network)
    If on wifi try ethernet
    Go to istumbler (Mac) or netstumbler (PC) to get a report of the network, look for signal strength and noise.

    Hello everybody...

  • Nokia E65 - Firmware upgrade

    Hiya
    I have an E65 with the following firmware version:
    1.0633.18.01
    11-01-07
    RM-208
    With Vodafone software as well.
    It runs rather slow and sluggish. Is there a new version which will make it quicker? I have to re-boot the phone as some of the functions stop working.
    How do I upgrade/get hold of any newer versions? Will I have to take it back to Vodafone or Nokia Service Center or can i do it myself?
    Thanks for your help.

    Try, first, by reformatting the phone with *#7370# and without restoring the backup. If things work, then something is wrong with the backup, probably.
    I tried reformat the phone and then use him without restoring the backup. All work regulary. Thanks

  • Nokia E65 GPS

    Hello everyone
    i am thinking about getting an E65 and if i do i am going to get a gps reciever along with it.
    i just had a few questions
    1. Do you need to download maps everytime you want to use it or can you use old maps?
    2. if you have to download data everytime can you transfer it from the nokia maps loader program?
    3. If you need to download the data, can the WIFI be used before the beginning of a journey?
    4. How much data typically would you used for GPS?
    5. Does nokia maps voice guidance use extra data and can you use wifi for this?

    You would be better off spending your cash on another model. The E65 has a lot of problems that still haven't been fixed. It's also very slow and won't perform at all well as a sat-nav.
    If you are planning on using a phone for sat nav you should invest in a phone with the S60v3 FP1 or FP2 operating system as they perform much better.

    To answer your questions:
    1. You download maps to your phone before you set off and they stay there until you delete them. Use maploader to get all maps for the areas that you visit.
    2. See above.
    3. No, you need to use maploader or a wifi hotspot in an area that you don't have a map for.
    4. You wouldn't use any data for GPS. Other features such as Assisted GPS (on supported models) and online address searches use tiny amounts of data (usually less than 5kb) but these can be disabled if you wish.
    5. The voice guidence is a service that you pay for and download to the phone, it doesn't use any data.

  • E65 - Can it do ... ?

    I just recently obtained this phone as part of a 24 month contract under the impression it could do certain things.
    What I want it to do is the following:
    1. Send/Receive POP3 email from my ISP account.
    I can see that it can do Blackberry and Exchange email, but cannot find the area to set up POP3. Does it exist?
    2. Apply mp3 ringtones to calls, SMSs and emails and be able to use mp3's stored on my MicroSD memory card.
    I finally found the area to change the ringtones, but it seems that it only uses tones already stored on the phone's internal memory. I don't want this, as there is not enough internal memory for everything I wish to put on there, especially if I start installing sofware (see below). Is there a way to use effectively use the SD card?
    3. Where can I find software/games for this phone to download.
    Everywhere I go, E65 does not seem to be a supported model. Even through the carrier's website. If you are going to provide a phone as part of a contract, you would think they would perhaps provide a few additional tools and software. (Sorry, this is more of a rant about my carrier who appear to have led me astray with this phone)
    Apart from these bits and pieces, the phone itself is quite good. Especially for a business phone.

    Hi,
    maybe your sd card isn't formatted correctly. Did you tell the phone to format the card before you started saving data on it? My E65 let me use the sd card even without formatting it, but i did it anyway and i can use all the audio files on the card as ringtones for calls and sms alright from the profiles menu, with a little card symbol displayed next to them.
    If you haven't tried it yet, just clear your card, reinsert it, have the phone format it and name it ("memory" in "system" menu), then put the audiofiles back on and see if it works then.
    As for the software, the E65 is one of the newest models out and many software offering sites are being slow to add it to their compatibility lists, but I think pretty much all the software that is compatible to other s60 3rd edition-phones (e.g. e61) should also work on the e65. I have tried several pieces of software marked compatible for e61 but not e65 and some of them work fine, some don't, but I figure compatibility issues are not the reason for that (some of it is beta etc.).
    greetings, Ben

  • E61i running slow...

    I have my e61i for about 3 weeks now. I love the software and everything. But the phone seems to slow down over time. Is it normal? It takes me a wile to open text messaging, for example and other goodies on my phone.
    Used my friends 6300 s40 OS, and its lithing fast in opening nearly any application.
    Any ideas, clues, tricks to reduce the opening time? And overall operating performance of my phone?
    How can i make my phone operate faster?
    Please let me know.

    (bought the N97, tried it for 2 days and sold immediately. I was Very disappointed with this device, NOKIA ! ) Proud Nokia shareholder.

    I think that the general suggestion is to close all applications running in the background. I'm not sure about E61, but on E65 you can see all applications currently running by pressing the Menu-button a couple of seconds. Then you will get a list with icons of all applications running, and you can close them by pressing the "c". (This is how it's done on the E65 - don't know about E61.)
    The easiest way to close all unnecessary application is of course to restart the phone...

  • Nokia E65

    Hello to all, this is my first post here.
    I've read almost all posts about firmware bugs on the E65 phone.
    As a owner I'm a little worried that there will be limited firmwares to this phone.
    I have too a 7710, won in a Nokia contest here in Portugal, and until Nokia updated the firmware to version 4.10 I was very disappointed, the phone booted every day, and other minor bugs, that made him almost unusable. Since update 4.10, Nokia forgot about 7710, and never released a firmware (I guess it was only a test to the Series 90 software...) well, as it was a prize, I only had to get past it...
    What I fear now is that the E65 will become a new "7710"... Nokia is not releasing any firmware to it (at least via NSU and Nokia Service I contacted) and there are some bugs annoying me.
    The so common slider boots, the annoying response time of the camera shutter (I realise it's not a "media phone" but sometimes it's useful for some work pics), and some random boots and slowness using some features (opening sms's and so on...)...
    I just wanted Nokia to effectively support this phone like it supports some other "mass market" phones, otherwise, I will start thinking about other brands... (as I used to be a Nokia fanatic....)

    hello psycho,
    I agree with you, it's always better to wait a little and have them all corrected, but it's kind of annoying (at least some random reboots of the phone). All other functions work great for me, it's really a good phone, works and feels great to have it in your hand
    I still would want some minor functions like the possibility of using the camera horizontally and so... but, I realise that that's not the point of this phone (to be a "camera phone")
    Ho well, we'll have to wait, but I still believe Nokia will surprise us...

  • Application running slow in ver 1.5, 1.6 but not in 1.4

    We have a application that was running very slow when we used any version sun java instead of MS java in IE6 SP2.
    I removed MS Java from IE and installed Sun java 1.4.2_16 and the applications starts in under 10sec's.
    But we had to test the other version of java as well, i then installed the other versions from 1.5 update 14 to 1.6 update 4 and the application takes about 30 to 40 sec to load the web page.
    I then looked at the development version of java 1.6 update 10 and version 7. In 1.6 update 10 the application would load but would not refresh the applets it would just hang. In version 7 the application would not start up at all.
    In all the versions i increased the memory parmeters from 128 to 256 and in version 1.6 i changed it to -Xmx300m as well but still the application was slow loading. Removed all the versions and reinstalled 1.4.2_14 and the application works fine and loads up under 10 sec.
    Does any one have any idea why this is happening.
    IE 6 sp2
    XP sp2 been used.

    You should try profiling the startup code.
    As a first go around, you might try getting a stack trace during the startup process and look for locks (see jstack).
    If your application is built on Swing, it's my understanding that the later versions of Java are more strict about use of the Event Dispatch Thread--pay particular attention to activity off the EDT locking the thread.

  • Mid 2011 Macbook Air Painfully slow.

    Mid 2011 Macbook Air Painfully slow.
    Hey everyone.  I am writing about my 13 inch Mid 2011 Macbook Air.
    Recently it has been extremely slow and on occasion has not started up.
    I have reset the PRAM and SMC already, yet it is still very slow.  I have a couple theories about what might have caused it, are they plausible?
    Theory 1:  It’s a software problem. I tried to upgrade to 10.8.2 but halfway through the upgrade the computer restarted and somehow I was still on 10.8.1.  For fear of a big issue happening I didn’t try to upgrade again. Perhaps it is a flaw in Apple’s software update?
    The important thing to note about this update is that I tried to install 10.8.2 around a month or two weeks BEFORE I started having problems.  So if these issues were due to 10.8.2’s failed update then it certainly was a delayed reaction.
    I would of course like to update to 10.8.2 BUT as my computer is acting EXTREMELY slow and having trouble turning on occasionally I am worried the software update will completely brick the machine.  Is that possible?  Should I actually finish through with the software update?
    Theory 2:  It was an electricity problem.
    The computer died when I was sitting at a café plugged into their wall sockets.  A few days later when I came back to the same spot with my old macbook which is now being used in lieu of the Air it suddenly turned black for a little while. Sensing it might be an electricity surge or something with their system I unplugged the cable.  I am not sure if that was paranoia though.
    Can an electricity surge or a bad outlet fry a computer?  Can it fry the ram so the computer is extremely slow? Does that theory hold any water?
    Thanks for your help diagnosing this problem.
    All the best.

    This procedure is a diagnostic test. It won’t solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
    Third-party system modifications are a common cause of usability problems. By a “system modification,” I mean software that affects the operation of other software — potentially for the worse. The following procedure will help identify which such modifications you've installed. Don’t be alarmed by the complexity of these instructions — they’re easy to carry out and won’t change anything on your Mac.
    These steps are to be taken while booted in “normal” mode, not in safe mode. If you’re now running in safe mode, reboot as usual before continuing.
    Below are instructions to enter some UNIX shell commands. The commands are harmless, but they must be entered exactly as given in order to work. If you have doubts about the safety of the procedure suggested here, search this site for other discussions in which it’s been followed without any report of ill effects.
    Some of the commands will line-wrap or scroll in your browser, but each one is really just a single line, all of which must be selected. You can accomplish this easily by triple-clicking anywhere in the line. The whole line will highlight, and you can then either copy or drag it. The headings “Step 1” and so on are not part of the commands.
    Note: If you have more than one user account, Step 2 must be taken as an administrator. Ordinarily that would be the user created automatically when you booted the system for the first time. The other steps should be taken as the user who has the problem, if different. Most personal Macs have only one user, and in that case this paragraph doesn’t apply.
    Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:
    ☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
    ☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
    ☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
    When you launch Terminal, a text window will open with a line already in it, ending either in a dollar sign (“$”) or a percent sign (“%”). If you get the percent sign, enter “sh” and press return. You should then get a new line ending in a dollar sign.
    Step 1
    Copy or drag — do not type — the line below into the Terminal window, then press return:
    kextstat -kl | awk '!/com\.apple/{printf "%s %s\n", $6, $7}'
    Post the lines of output (if any) that appear below what you just entered (the text, please, not a screenshot.) You can omit the final line ending in “$”.
    Step 2
    Repeat with this line:
    sudo launchctl list | sed 1d | awk '!/0x|com\.(apple|openssh|vix)|edu\.mit|org\.(amavis|apache|cups|isc|ntp|postfix|x)/{print $3}'
    This time, you'll be prompted for your login password, which won't be displayed when you type it. You may get a one-time warning not to screw up. You don't need to post the warning.
    Note: If you don’t have a login password, you’ll need to set one before taking this step. If that’s not possible, skip to the next step.
    Step 3
    launchctl list | sed 1d | awk '!/0x|com\.apple|edu\.mit|org\.(x|openbsd)/{print $3}'
    Step 4
    ls -1A /e*/mach* {,/}L*/{Ad,Compon,Ex,Fram,In,Keyb,La,Mail/Bu,P*P,Priv,Qu,Scripti,Servi,Spo,Sta}* L*/Fonts 2> /dev/null
    Important: If you formerly synchronized with a MobileMe account, your me.com email address may appear in the output of the above command. If so, anonymize it before posting.
    Step 5
    osascript -e 'tell application "System Events" to get name of every login item' 2> /dev/null
    Remember, steps 1-5 are all drag-and-drop or copy-and-paste, whichever you prefer — no typing, except your password. Also remember to post the output.
    You can then quit Terminal.
