E65 voice recorder going haywire!

Please help! My nokia e65 has started going crazy, it keeps popping up with a voice recorder, that asks you to say someones name. It started last night when it was charging, and would just randomly start. It was annoying, and i needed to sleep, so i closed the slider, and locked it, which was a mistake because now there is 5 hours worth of it popping up every second. Can someone please tell me how to shut it down, because my phone is not usuable until i do, because it keeps popping up every single second!!
Thanks

The same is happening to mine. Nokia have reloaded software but the problem is still there and they have it in their workshop again. Did you get your problem sorted and if so how?
Do you sync from a mac by any chance?
Cheers

  • Voice recording - handling variations in voice from soft to loud

In many professional songs, the voice recording goes from being soft in the beginning to eventually loud or a rough-sounding loud voice with more energy in it. However, these songs seem to keep the variation in loudness to a certain range of acceptance without the listener having to turn the volume up or down on the stereo/radio.
How is this handled in the recording stage? I just got my MacBook Pro and playing with GarageBand and love it. I want to record my guitar songs with voice but I am afraid that when I record my voice and its variations in loudness, it will come across as too much of a difference in db levels.
    Does this make sense?
Can someone explain to me how this is handled? Do we need to use a "Compressor" effect to compress the vocals to a certain range of db levels? Am I on the right direction with this?
    Thanks!

indeed you are. various forms of dynamics processing may be used, compression, and limiting would likely be the tools you want. used with care these can help level out the perceived "loudness" of a recording.

  • Ic Mp3 Voice Recorder - silver not black

Hi,  I have an Ic Mp3 Voice Recorder (I can't read the sub-model as it’s too faded) though it is a silver Ic recorder.  It worked great till last week. Now when I download any recordings they show up as normal (ex: one shows as 177, 661KB and one shows 14,191KB). They are both clearly there, but when I play them back I hear no sound. Is there any way I could have accidently “muted” the device???
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hello WGB,
Without knowing the model number of your recorder its very difficult to know what might be going on. There should be a reset button the on device that should move all your settings back to default. This would ensure any setting that may have changed to cause this would be reverted back to normal.

  • Wish list: Voice recorder & address book

I would love to have a built-in voice recorder for recording memos. Doesn't seem that hard to do.
I would also love to have an icon for the address book, a la OS X, instead of having to go through the phone icon.
    How about BlueTooth syncing?
What other things would people like to see added?
dual 2.0 GHz G5, 4 GB RAM, 2 TB HD SATA RAID   Mac OS X (10.4.10)   MacBook Pro, dual 1.25 GHz G4, iMac core Duo

For voice memo...have you tried leaving yourself voicemail?
You can ask Apple for iPhone changes via this link:
http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone.html Though if you're requesting hardware changes for iPhone v2 you may want to wait a week (or a month?)...they're probably going to be inundated right now by requests for software changes to the current iPhone.

  • Digital Voice Recorder for MAC?

I recently switched from PC to MAC and am very happy I did.
I just have 1 thing that still need to use my PC for - I use a digital recorder almost daily, and then email the recordings to different people.
I use a Sony so I can't use it on my MAC.
I am looking for a digital voice recorder that is as easy to use as my current one, I just plug it into my PC, open the software it came with, and it converts it to MP3 and then I attach it to the specified email and away it goes.
I tried an Olympus but the effort it would have taken to convert it to MP3 was ridiculous.
    I would love some suggestions...
    Thanks!
    Glenyce

I use an older Olympus myself, rather similar to this one, and though it records in WAV format rather than mp3 it is really pretty simple converting the files if you wish. The ones that Dave Sawyer links to look better for your purposes , though.
Sony make Mac compatible recorders which record directly into mp3 these days, too, though. See here, for example. Or this one.
eww's suggestion looks good , too.
There are a lot of choices out there. The best selection depends on what quality level you require for the recording, how important small size is, whether you will be using external mics, how much storage capacity you need, how much you are prepard to spend, etc etc. Might be easier to refine recommendations if you could provide a bit more info about such things.
    Cheers

  • Digital Voice Recorder

    Hello,
I'm looking for a digital voice recorder whose USB connectivity will work with OS X.
Olympus seems to pop up a lot in my searches:
    http://www.olympusamerica.com/cpgsection/cpg_vrdigitalrecorders.asp
    Sony, too:
    http://www.sonystyle.com/is-bin/INTERSHOP.enfinity/eCS/Store/en/-/USD/SYDisplayProductInformation-Start?ProductSKU=ICDP110&Dept=audio&CategoryName=pa_Vo iceRecordersDigitalVoiceRecorder
    And Panasonic:
    http://www2.panasonic.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/vModelListByAttribute?storeI d=15001&catalogId=13401&itemId=68039&catGroupId=25026&attributeId=63372&attribut eValueId=590699&cacheProgram=11002&cachePartner=7000000000000005702
Has anyone had any luck with using any of these recorders on a Mac? It is not very specific on any of their websites as to whether or not the product is compatible. I am going to try and dig up some more info from the companies directly, but figured here would be a good place to check for hands-on experience and recommendations. The Olympus one with the camera (W-10) looks pretty nifty to me. Don't need a digital camera specifically, so it would just be an added bonus.
Let me know if I'm going at all in the right direction or if there is somewhere else I should be looking.
    Thanks for your help
    Ryan

Olympus seems to be the only one that supports Mac and has a nice OS X native connection software. My girlfriends Panasonic does not work on Mac. So to play safe, get Olympus.

  • Olympus Digital Voice Recorder (VN960PC)

I have an Olympus Digital Voice Recorder (VN960PC). On the Olympus site they have no Mac OSX software [though they do have it for the Dark Side] that will allow me to download the audio files onto my mac mini [PPC].
Does anyone have any suggestions? Is there any software that might enable me to do this outside of going to Boot Camp or Virtual PC?
Flat Panel iMac 20 inch 1.25 ghz, iBook 500 mhz, mac mini 1.42 ghz   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

    Hi, bikinijack.
    1. With the particular digital voice recorder you have, I suspect you are going to be out of luck. Olympus offers DSS Player for Mac OS X for their higher-end units, i.e. their DS-series digital voice recorders.
    2. I presume you've tried connecting the VN-960PC to your Mac via USB cable and found that its built-in storage does not mount on the desktop. True?
    3. I suspect DSS Player is not going to work with your VN-960PC, but if you hada DS-series recorder, here's how I'd advise you, based on having previously researched this question for a person with a DS-series player:The short answer is that if you install the DSS Player application that comes with their digital voice recorders, and then install the "DSS Player for Mac (OS X) V6 Update to V6.0.4" — which can be found using their Support - Downloads Web page — then the DSS Player software will work with Tiger.
They are planning to update their Web site to reflect this as well as provide a FAQ. The basic instructions are the following:
    • If your Olympus digital voice recorder comes with DSS Player V6, you simply install "DSS Player for Mac (OS X) V6 Update to V6.0.4" using the instructions in the Read Me file.
    • If your Olympus digital voice recored comes with DSS Player versiion 1.xx, you first install the "DSS Player for Mac (OS X) Upgrade from version 1.xx to V6" using the instructions in the Read Me file, then install "DSS Player for Mac (OS X) V6 Update to V6.0.4," again following the instructions in its Read Me file.
StuffIt Expander is required to unpack these downloads. Tiger, unlike prior versions of Mac OS X, does not include Stuffit Expander: see "Mac OS X 10.4: Where is StuffIt Expander?" If you don't have StuffIt Expander, a free download of such for Mac OS X 10.4 can be found here.4. Since your Mac Mini is PPC, your only real option for running Windows is Virtual PC. There are some other, open-source projects for getting Windows to run under Mac OS X, but Virtual PC is probably the "gold standard" in that arena.
If your 20-inch iMac is Intel-based, in lieu of Boot Camp you could also try Parallels Desktop for Mac. This leverages the virtualization technology of the Intel chips, permitting you to run Mac OS X and Windows simultaneously.
    Good luck!

  • IPod Touch - voice recorder ...?

I've been hearing a bit of buzz around the hacker(s) who built an external device that plugs into the iPod Touch and records sound.
The reason I came across this info, is because I'm looking to purchase a digital voice recorder as a christmas gift for my boyfriend (who owns already owns a Touch). He once had a 3rd-party device that attached to his older iPod, that allowed him to record. With all this hacking going on, does anyone know if apple or other companies are already in the works of developing such a product? In this case, my idea for purchasing a (sony/ olympus...) voice recorder is not so exciting. I'm sure he rather have the extra piece to stick into his iPod Touch, rather than carrying around a clunk of gadgets. Anyone know of such plans? Is this a few years away? or coming up sooner than I imagine?
    Thanks for your thoughts!

thanks VIP- but I don't think I'll be buying parts for marion to build for me. Even if it means spending a lot more on a brand, I just feel more comfortable purchasing the actual released product.
Or, since so many people are writing up on eok & marion, maybe I'll keep watching over the next week or two to see if people have been using it.
Is this device risky? Is there a chance of it screwing up the iPod?

  • Mac compatible Digital voice recorder

I'm looking to buy a Mac compatible Digital voice recorder for interviews (I'm a journalist). Needs are one that is easy and basic, where I don't need to download any software if possible. I'm going to be doing lengthy interviews and need something that can stand up to travel & length of time (about 2-3 hrs per interview). Thanks for an input. Apple store couldn't help.... thanks!

For a high quality portable audio recorder, I've been very happy with the Olympus LS-10, but it is more expensive that the ordinary voice recorder, on the order of $250USD. If you want quality, this has it. I am disappointed at the sound quality of the voice recorders I have tried. It's stereo, about the size of a pack of cigarettes (if anybody remembers that). The built-in microphones are not perfect for music (reduced bass and boosted highs), but are excellent for voice. The device records about 10 hours continuously on 2 AA batteries. It has tiny speakers and earphone jack, and an iPod-easy menu system. It requires no software to transfer files. You connect the USB cable to the Mac, and the recorder shows up on the desktop for you to move whatever files you wish. You can record in WAV, MP3 or WMA formats at several bit depths and sample rates to balance quality with file size.
There are many competing products (Sony, Tascam, Marantz, others) that have some similar characteristics, but I have no experience with them - except some Zoom products I tried were poor.

  • Lumia 925 disabled mike and voice recording issues...

    Dear Nokia Team
It has been a unpleasant experience dealing with the Nokia Care centre.
I have not got any solution for the complaint registered. Its been over 45 days now.
Inspite of escalating the matter several times i have not got any response
and solution from the concerned team. Its a horrible experience and i wouldnt recommend nokia to anyone henceforth.
The problem of Out going audio on loud speaker mode and voice recording has
been not functioning after 8.1 Update and this has been a common problem
with lot of 925 users. This problem has occurred due to some issues in the
    mother board of the device.
And is within the scope of warranty terms and conditions.
As highlighted by several lumia 925 users, this is a common problem with this intrument.
The handset is under normal wear and tear conditions and still i have been
    denied any service under warranty.
This is absolutely unprofessional attitude from the Nokia team.
Henceforth, i would be compelled to highlight this matter to social media
    followed with legal complaint.
Its been a non satisfying and unhappy experience dealing with Nokia.
I would be escalating this matter.
Thanks for such a great service !!

hi mate we are a user to user forum only so cannot assist you here. u need to persist with your Nokia Care location and if they are not being helpful, then escalate the issue to head office of Nokia in your region.

  • Voice recording hiss - static - buzz

I'm trying to record my first podcast. I have a Macbook Pro, osx 10.5., a microphone, a imic, a M-Audio Buddy Preamp.
I have set all the midi settings on both the mac and GarageBand itself and I've adjusted every button, knob, and slider on the preamp and in the program.
I thought I had read every article I could find on how to get audio into the computer and from what I read this is what I should do, so I have layed out almost $100 bucks now. All I get is my voice that sounds like a whisper even when I'm holding the microphone right up to my mouth, and it is only audible if I'm shouting into the mic.
Now I know I could just use the built in microphone or just plug the microphone into the input but the hissing noise seems as loud as my own voice. How do I get a clear sounding voice like all the podcasts that are out there?
I have also tried using Sound Studio with the same results. I'm so frustrated about this I hope someone can help me.
Is there anything that can be done for the hissing sound also or is that normal? I don't hear that high pitched hissing noise on any other podcasts.
    Thanks for any help.

I am guessing I don't have a Condenser Microphone, I googled Condenser Mics and they don't look like the one I have. It's just a mic that we use with our Karaoke machine and has 500 ohms on the side and I thought humm 500 is a big number, must be a good thing.... obviously not.
So I will go home from work tonight, and just for giggles, set the Imic switch to the speaker symbol and see what happens, but I think I've tried that. But I'm assuming it wont work without a Condenser Microphone.
Looks like I'm going to need to shell out money for a new Microphone, unless anyone can tell me how I can get rid of that hissing sounds I hear when I plug the Microphone directly into the iMic or plugging the Microphone into the Line-in port, the volume isn't an issue when I do that, it's the hissing sound that's so bad.
I'm sure there has got to be a way to muffle or cut out that high pitched hiss out of the voice recording, making it a clear voice instead of a voice with someone saying "SSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS" over the voice.
I'll post again when I get home. Thanks so much

  • Voice recording with Macbook Pro

Hello, I am not sure if this is the correct forum to post this question but here goes:
Is there anyway to use the macbook pro to record a lecture? I saw in downloads there was something called" quick voice recorder "
Has anyone used this? How does it work? I see it says a microphone is required.
I have one meeting that I need to record and I can't afford to purchase a digital voice recorder device for a one time use.
    HelP? suggestions?? thanks a lot

Your MBP has a built-in microphone.
I believe QuickVoice is a demo license (meaning without paying the license fee, it may be lacking some functions, record only for a limited time, etc.) - try it and see.
There's freeware that works quite well: http://audacity.sourceforge.net/

  • E71 voice recording as dictaphone.

Hello, I record oral history using a dictaphone. Can the voice recording on E71 do a similiar service, and are there limits in time per recording and in total capacity. Can it transfer to a PC and be burnt onto a CD for general use or is the format specific to Nokia/Symbian?
    Thanks

if you go into the Settings and change the sound quality to HIGH you will got 60mins of recording, you must have MMS set in Settings.
As for going to a specific time, you can't enter a certain time, but the FFW and REW are quite fast.
