E66 GPS VOICE GUIDE

Anyone can advise me where can I get a English female voice guide in my GPS? When I purchased my E66 it was installed with female english guide together with the map, after I upgraded with the latest firmware I download all the new maps and voice guide thru Nokia Map Loader but I got a male voice.

Hi joeski
You are correct that English female was available in Maps v1.0, not present in V2.0 but is now back in V3.0 Beta.

  • N96 - GPS local maps and voice guided navi for 3 m...

I see on the box of the N96 :
"Including local maps and voice-guided navigation for three months"
So after 3 months there is no local maps and voice ?
    Why that ?
Even a cheap GPS at 100 euros has maps and voice forever
I dont understand. I have paid the phone and his features or not ?

I have to disagree with you there.
The system is designed to suit all users, not just those that use the phone for navigation in the car. Plus many people won't use the phone for navigation but will use it as an interactive map book.
Also with all the new and upcoming location based services that nokia now offers it is very important to have up-to-date maps.
If we had to pay for map updates then many of the location based services wouldn't be accurate or worth using.
So for a phone based navigation program it makes much more sense to get free maps. Obviously they have to recoup the map costs from somewhere so they have to charge for the navigation feature.
For dedicated in car sat-nav systems such as tom toms then it makes sense for them to give you the navigation for free. They make their money by charging you for new maps and maps for other countries.
So in some ways nokia's system is better because you have maps of most of the world totally free. It's also the only system that could suit the majority.
At the end of the day no one is forcing you to use nokia maps either. If you don't like it then install a program like garmin XT. This program is like in car sat-navs where navigation is free but you pay for maps. A very expensive option if you travel to many countries.

  • Can we have a real voice guiding us for the GSP map APP please ?

there is an app on iPhone called map ...
i was just wondering if it was possible to have a voice guiding you like a real GSP ...
    ty

Map data with the standard iPhone Maps application is not stored locally on the iPhone. An internet connection is required to download maps data with the Maps application, which would not be effective with a turn by turn voice direction GPS navigation app. Maps data with a standalone GPS navigation device is stored locally on the device.

  • Nokia N82 Free 3 Month Trial for Voice-Guided Navi...

    Hi all,
Nokia promoted a free 3-month trial for the voice-guided navigation on the Nokia N82 and I'm due to be visiting a few places in Britain soon so I need the maps to get there. But being a little tight, I was hoping I could get away with the free trial but the only options it gives me are three different plans which I have to pay for.
Any ideas anyone?? Any help much appreciated, Thanks

  • FM Transmit and GPS voice guidance

I activated the FM Transmit on my C7 mobile. I am able to listen to music stored on my mobile phone on my car stereo. But I could not get the GPS voice guidance to broadcast on my car stereo.
Can anybody tell me how  to make the GPS voice guidance to work on my car stereo.
    Thanks

    @orion13
    Welcome to the forum!
Presumably you can still get voice guidance via speaker of C7?
Due to technical restrictions the audio output of Ovi Maps voice guidance is not supported over bluetooth connection to a car kit unfortunately. It was apparently a technical trade-off in the Bluetooth implementation prioritizing optimal use of Bluetooth headsets rather than enabling voice instructions through the carkit.

Hi I am also having the same problem.  I upgraded my firmware to version 500.21.009 and my gps is not working.  Anyone has a solution to this problem.  Will the latest firmware upgrade resolve this issue?
    @famous007
Presumably you have this version of Ovi Maps installed upon your E66:http://europe.nokia.com/support/product-support/maps-support/compatibility-and-download#/nokia-e66/
If you go to Menu > Tools > Settings > General > Positioning > Positioning methods - try temporarily disabling all except Integrated GPS, go outside away from tall buildings if feasible launch Ovi Maps and wait 20 - 30 minutes for first positional fix to be established.

  • E66 GPS position/trip data in meters/km instead of...

My e66-2's GPS function works okay but it does not seem to be able to show me data in feet and miles instead of meters and kilometers. Has anyone found anyway around this? My phone is the USA version, firmware is still at 102.07.81.
Does some e66-1 owner with the newer firmware know if they fixed this oversight?

Thank you. Classic case of Nokia burying the settings. It is not on any of the menus when you're inside any of the GPS screens (Navigation, Position, Trip), nor is it anywhere in the Tools...Settings... menu tree.
Instead it's on the first "GPS Data" screen. When you click Menu...GPS...GPS Data. Then click the left button for Options and there is a Settings screen.

  • GPS voice activated?

Are there GPS systems that instead of typing in your address, you can say it? Can you recommend any? Also, if they are much more expensive, can you recommend a cheaper GPS?
I tried some today for the first time and found the touchscreens not to work too well, but maybe each one takes getting used to.
    Many thanks.

    I have the Garmin 3490LMT...
love the voice control for volume and brightness when driving.  I strongly recommend looking for a device with voice control.
hate setting a destination by voice
If you find typing to be an issue....
consider "saving" the address after typing it once.  This way you do not need to type it over and over again
consider a device with a larger screen for big thumbs.  However 4" is perfect for a small car.  Anything larger and I'm concerned by windshield may be blocked.
    Before buying...
try setting a destination by voice in a store demo model.  Very frustrating for me... (my accent?)
try typing the address on the screen.  Which is faster?

  • E7 - GPS - Voice Navigation - Help

I had 6110 Navigator before and was using GPS in that.
Currently I am using E7. Though Nokia has declared that using the maps are fully free, when I use GPS, it asking me to connect to internet and saying connection failed. I have marked offline in the settings. But still this happens... But if I choose WLAN only in "Settings->Connectivity->Settings->Data use in home country", then I am not able to get driving directions. Then what is meant by FREE?
Next thing i love in 6110 is, when i am using the driving direction, whenever I come across any petrol bunk or food court or theatre or hospital, I will get alerts like a ping sound. But this is not available in E7 though it shows in the screen that there is a petrol bunk like that. Is this feature wantedly disabled or is there any way to enable it? Is Nokia working towards this?

I was hoping you would say V2. It has been such a long time since I used V1 that I cannot remember the keystrokes required to update your licence.
Basically what you have to do is to go through the license purchase process but just before you actually pay for it you select to update the license details. This will prompt for the Nokia Maps to connect to the server to check for any licenses available to your phone. Do this when ytou are within range of your wlan. During this upgrade process, assuming you are entitled to a 1 yr free license, the server should confirm the existence of a 1 yr license for your phone and update your phone with it.
I am sorry I cannot provide more accurate keystrokes as I just can't recall them for V1.
As navigation licences are regional, ensure that the license you have is for your region. Also, unless the maps for your region is already pre-installed, you may have to install it using the Map Loader utility which is available for download from
    http://europe.nokia.com/A4984199
You will also find the latest (V2) version of Nokia Maps here should you decide to upgrade the V1 you currently have.

  • HT201272 I had my iPhone replaced and everything synced back except for my motion x gps voice guidance that I paid for already. How can I get that back?

I need some help if possible reapplying my live voice guidance to motion x app. I purchased this a few months ago and have receipt for it but it never synced with my replacement phone.

At any point has the device been restored as new and then had content synced to it?
If so, did the problem continue?
Based on the description, my first assumption is a corrupted backup or setting in the backup.

  • Does the N900 come with voice guided navigation?

If not, why not? And are there plans to get it on the device.
Thanks in advance for your help.

no there isnt, at least for OVI.  it was not completely ported.  knowone but Nokia knows if it will eventually be there.
the only option right now for VGN is to get sygic.
let me know if you need help with that one.

  • So finally got me a 8x

Well I couldnt wait any longer for this so called Ativ Odyssey and my Droid (first generation) was pretty much dead, so I went it the 8x. The first one lasted me 24 hours, as I went to bend with about 49% battery charge and woke the next day to the battery being permanently dead. So now got it replaced and so far I am actually really liking this phone. The camera is not really that bad, might not be as good as 920 in low light, but in lighted areas, it very nice.
One bad thing about it is, there is no gps voice guided navigation system. I seriously will never use that nonsense VZ navigator, as my parents have it in their phone and it is just total crap. But what can you do. Hopefully Google will make a Googlemaps for wp8.
    I got mine in blue

I too am an Android convert and love my blue 8X thus far, though I do kind of miss some the flexibility of flashing new rom builds.  Definitely fast, straightforward and a fresh content oriented look to the OS.  HTC used to bundle a nice app called Locations, but it's missing in action on the 8X.  Also, there's a great app simply called navigation you can buy for a one time charge of $4.99, works just as well as Google Navigation did on my old EVO 4G.
I've heard the first update to the 8X will also improve battery life, or at least it did for the international HSDPA version...not sure how well US LTE version will fair.  As the number of Winphone8 users grows, the more developers will give attention.  I personally love being unique as an early adopter.  I get quite a few comments/compliments about the phone and OS.  Hopefully MS can reach that 10 million user threshold to gain some more traction with their app ecosystem.  I'm sure devs will have no problems in the future considering how much of a cut Apple takes from them.

  • What's the BEST voice command iPad GPS?

I'm surprised this didn't get more hits when I searched, so forgive me for posting... but I GOTTA know as I'm falling out of love with MapQuest GPS app, which I thought was killer, well it certainly isn't bad and the price, right? FREE!
But I need something better and I'd love an app that gave me optional routing like MapQuest does online via browser but not in it's app. How odd. Are there any iPad GPS apps that give you multiple route choices? Car Navs do too.
I also think we need an S&M voice that beats you mercilessly if you make a wrong turn   Kidding. Well, sort of. Really why don't GPS voices have fun?
But seriously, what say you Apple Discussions Crowd? What's the must have, don't even think of getting any other app, this one will change your life. Etc.
What is the panicea of voice command GPS iPad apps. If it maes a diff, I have an iPad1.
    Thx,
    Steven

Yeah I had it take me way off course once too. But usually it's been pretty good. But I kept thinking you get what you pay for and if you get one that costs versus free it may be better. I just downloaded GPS Drive MotionX but the interface is a bit complex where as MG is easier but MotionX got a lot of positive reviews so I thought I'd try it. I'm trying to input a trip and finding it hard to input a starting point that is not where you are whereas MQ is easy.
I'm sure it's there, but not obvious in MotionX. Should be a button for start and then destination. Seems evertything I do sets the destination and can't figure way to set the start point and the system defaults to your GPS location as opposed to a start other than that.
Every button I press the voice asks for my destination. I can't figure how to set a start point. Hmmm.
Maddening. Everything is about the destination. Can't set origination.
I give up. I'll contact their tech support to find out how to set start point.
Shouldn't be this hard or unobvious. Bad user experience. Completely unintuitive. BUT.. once I figure it out, it may be as great as all the positive reviews in the App Store say about it. I'll let you all know...
