E66 update?

I have just bought an E66 wich has a frmwiare (110.07.126) and there is an update for this version but what I am affraid off losing the application which came with this phone such as the "advanced Call Manager" or the "Multiscanner" " Nokia maps" , ................. .
So if I update the firmware will application remains ?? or they will go ?

FAILURE OF E66 UPDATING

I have a Nokia E66, and this morning my computer started NOKIA SOFTWARE UPDATER which failed by itself.
I closed the screen of the updating and try to disconnect my phone from the USB connection.
My phone shut down and did not accept to start.
I was obliged to open the phone, to withdraw the battery and the sim card and to install them again; the phone started but I lost all my contacts, all my messages, all my calendar entries on my phone.
NOKIA is responsible for that loss because their SOFTWARE UPDATER failed and freezed my phone.
Also NSU destroyed all the copies of my phone data in Nokia PC suite.
I restored old contacts from OUTLOOK saved in March, with the synchronisation.
I do not wait for any help coming from NOKIA which I cannot contact by Email.
My only purpose is to inform others Nokia users: be careful with the Nokia Software Updater : a very dangerous virus-like sotware which erases your data.

If you had read the instructions carefully, you would know that you have to back up your phone via Content Copier within PC Suite. It´s not Nokia´s fault that you lost the data from your phone...but yours.

E66 Update problem

I was updating my E66 from firmware version 102.07.81 to 110.07.126. The update proceeded well and 100mb was installed. Since this took a while,I I took a break. On returning to my PC I found the installation on it's final stages where I was aked to switch off the phone and remove the battery and then restart. On restating the updater keeps on returning an error message "connection to phnoe lost" and therefore the last 15 minutes installation has not completed. I am able to use phone and so far I have not noted any defect but what does this failure to somplete the upgrade imply? I will appreciate any help

Listen ma friend during the update of the device u don't have to switch it off rather u don't ever bother touching it but making sure that it has a full battery.........
now as far as ur failure is concerned its a miracle that ur phone is still working fine although u just couldn't complete the the last 15 minutes installation........ we have seen peoples phone turn into bricks during such a mistake........
what i wud suggest is to see wat is ur current firmware by *#0000#........ if its still the older version then update it but if its the newer version then u shud at least get it checked from nokia service point to make sure no harm is there in the device or its software.......
the message to switch off the phone is not for u but an automatic generation and the phone will switch off and the again on by itself.............. u just have to make sure that:
# u have a full battery
# good speed internet connection
# latest Nokia Software Updater
and for update: fisrt u have to have the factory settings.then close all network connections and then finally.......
1)Back up ur phone memory on ur memory card.
2)Remove ur memory card and put phone on general profile and make sure that it is fully charged
3)Then restore ur phone to factory settings by *#7780# - Restore factory settings - resets all the settings to the default.
4)Update your firmware.
5)Restore from memory card.
Nothing would be lost........

Where is the update for E66 to 410.21.010

Hi, for severel days I saw the Update for my E66 from 300.21.012 to 410.21.010 on "can I Update". Today I will update, but now the Updater says there where no update. Then I checked on "can I update" again I look very supriesed, It show me a very very old Version 110.07.126. Is the update Database corrupt?

That database is never really very reliable to begin with for some weird reason. However you could try also checking via FOTA (dial *#0000#) on your phone and select options>check for updates as not all updates are released via NSU. That procedure would cost mobile internet charges though.

Cannot update or re-install E66

When I use NSU to update a Nokia E66, it tells me that I already have the latest software and the I cannot re-install the same software. I have done this (re-install) many times before on different Nokia E71.

E66 Firmware update help

Hi All,
My name's Ty and I'm from new Zealand.
Have a question to be helped please.
My Phone tells me I currently have the lastest firmware version. Problem is that I know there's been a new update to 200.something.somthing.
Because of my product code. Nokia Software updater won't allow me to get the new software version.
Can someone please tell me how I can get this new software version ...? The reason I need it is because it's proven that this new software update will allow me to pair my E66 to my BMW and " transfer the contacts over " ...
Any help will be appreciated ... I've already taken it back to the shop I got it from and they tried the same thing
expecting a different result .... their more stupid than me, as I told them I tried NSU already ...

Update availability is based on many things, including existing Nokia device firmware version, country, and operator. It may be due to one of these variables that your Nokia device isn't eligible for updates.
Please note that your mobile service provider, operator, or carrier may not have approved the latest Nokia device firmware available.
Nokia produces many different variants of each product (for different countries and languages) and not all variants have the latest Nokia device firmware. New software may become available at a later date, however, so please check again soon.

E66: Problems after software update

Hi all
I'm experiencing the following 2 problems after updating my E66 to new software version 200.21.118 from 26-11-08:
1) When the screensaver is activated it shows the actual time. But the time doesn't change (i.e. follow the phone clock). It remains on the same time until the phone is activated again. The next time the screensaver is activated it shows the new time and so on.
2) I'm using the phone as alarm clock. But after the update I have now experienced several times, that the snooze function does not work properly. The phone is switched off at night an the alarm turns on in the morning (e.g. at 6:00 AM) as it is set to. I then press snooze (or what the function is called using the English language) but the phone does not turn on the alarm after 5 minutes (6:05 AM) as expected. When I then turn on the phone after e.g. 30 minutes it turns on the alarm showing 6:05 AM as the alarm time in the display. This has given me some stressful mornings.
Have anyone her experienced the same problems or do You know a solution to them?

I had same problem, and this helped:
Select Menu > Tools > Themes > Power saver.Select 'animation' or 'now played', so anything else than 'none'
There are further settings availble in case of 'animation'.
After this clock was not stopping at screensaver.

Error code 12017,nokia e66 software updation fails

The following errors occours when i want to update nokia e66 software
i was updating my phone software,during updating something wrong done,due to this
1- My mobile phone files mmssync and contact group ds plugin corrupted.
2- When i update my phone software through nokia suit, nokia suit try to install mmssync and contact group ds plugin but gives error msg files are corrupted.
3- when nokia suit download phone software and begin to install it,then usb cable disconneced then after some time connected.
please tell me what should i do.my phone model is nokia e66

I doubt that it will fix your firmware installation problem, but I did once have a problem where a "DS Plugin" became corrupt. The fix is to manually delete the bad program(s) in Application Manager (possibly in Control Panel -> Application Manager -> Installed Apps). This is perfectly safe. Delete "Contact Group DS Plugin" and probably "MMSync", too, then reboot the phone and reconnect it to Nokia Suite. The plugins should then install normally. I hope that helps.

E66 software update problem

hi,
i'm trying to update my e66 firmware from 210.21.007 to 300.21.012.
all previous firmware updates i did on this phone had no issues.
but this time something goes wrong.
this is what happens: i set the profile to "general", disable any passwords, charge the battery and connect the phone.
i start the nokia software updater, it detects my phone and the new firmware available.
it starts and completes the download and after that it just freezes at "estimated time left : 15 minutes".Nothing new happens, it just stays that way whatever i do.(i waited for several hours)
i tried several times now and i get the same issue.
disconnecting the phone doesn't work either, i have to use the task manager to shut down the program.
after disconnecting, the phone works perfect, it has no issue.
i noticed that in the early stages of the update process the phone's screen goes white and then dark.
i even received calls during the update process.
i also updated a n86 on the same pc, same software a few days ago and had no problems at all.
please help.

E66 firmware update 510.21.009

Got recommended(required?) software on Nokia Ovi Suite.
What is complete changelog beside these meaningless sentences? Are there any known bugfixes?

Here goes my observations
Changes:
FW 510.21.009 - date 19-03-2011
Maps 3.03 Lite (v3.03 10wk12 b05) Attention: downgraded to if 10wk11 b04 using Ovi update. So do not update.
Improvements:
Better performance.Rotates the screen faster, camera opens a little faster.
Battery holds longer. Strange that other complain the opposite. Made a hard reset so it may help.
No more "Insert SIM card" problem. It should have been a hardware problem but seems resolved by SW.
GPS got faster fix than before. Almost instant.
At last selecting new Wifi hotspot and clicking "start web browsing" it doesn't set it as default in web browser.
Not changed:
1. Still the infamous microphone lag when answering other party doesn't hear the first words . Still I fell like an idiot every time I answer and have to say the greeting 2x times .
2. Sound glitch when scrolling or for some alerts. There should be only one beep without splits. Youtube video
3. Screensaver clock glitch. If button is not pressed long enough the screen corrupts. Sometimes it locks up and don't answer to button press again. Youtube video 2
4. Side(focus) button still doesn't open camera.

E66-2 (NAM) firmware update?

Any ideas as to when the e66-2 will see some updates? The e66-1 got one a few months back, but no love for those in the USA. I'm still stuck at 102.07.81, dated July 12, 2008.

Fixed, Ok but had problems, got down to it today and did what zynth advised, and to which I followed to the tee!
Uninstalled the PC Suite which was V. 7.1.26.0.en, and Updater and installed the new downloaded version from the Nokia site on 01/05/09, being V. 7.1.18.0.en, then halve way through the installation it says that there is a new update which I ignored and proceeded to install V. 7.1.18.0.en and plug in the phone when advised to which all went well, and proceeded with the Software Update software, again downloaded from the Nokia website 01/05/09, all went well again until when the indicator was saying 15mins left to go when reinstalling the 210.21.007 firmware, the the pc started to say in the task bar that the nokia phone is disconnected/connected/disconnected/connected etc etc, for about 5 mins then nothing for 10 mins until another screen appeared advising to disconnect the phone take out the battery and then turn back on etc as not responding, which I did and reconnected but then the Updater software froze as nothing happened for another 10 minutes!
The only thing I could do at this moment was to disconnect the phone from the PC although it advised against this as would cause serious damage, but had no choice, which I then turned the phone off and then on again and all was ok!
I then shut down the PC to restart it and then had a blue screen of death but restarted and uninstalled all the software and then reinstalled it again.
On the second account and after installing all my backups from the PC and before using the Software Updater to which the phone is still on V. 210.21.007, I check the slide functions and now all ok as all fully working as before, including the numeric keypad lights, so I'm thinking there must have been a software cliche somewhere in the phone, so your guess is good as mine, but happy it is now as before.

E66 S/W UPDATE

I'M TRYING TO UPDATE MY E66 TO THE NEW SW.
BUT EVERYTIME IT REACHES 20 MB IT CRASHES OUT. I HAVE A 2MB DSL LINE SO I DON'T THINK IT SHOULD BE ANYTHING TODO WITH THE LINE.

Make sure your computer is fully up to date including the latest service pack and all available patches.
Close all programs that are running in the background. Also disable your anti virus and anti spyware software during the update.
If it still fails then it is most likely a software conflict on your PC. Try reinstalling the updater and tracking down the conflict.
If after all that it still fails you will have to use another computer. If that is not an option you can update at a nokia care point.

I'm using nokia E66 RM-343 , which is running the firmware version 510.21.009.
I know , nokia dropped support for symbian platform and currently working on wp8.
Will there any new firmware release for E66 ?

K...But the real prblm is, my phones previous firmware version was 410.xx.xx. And i updated it to current available ver 510.21.009.
After update , i noticed some prblmz, camera settings restore each time when using camera,
And also the main thing is the GPS. My GPS worked fine with firmware ver 410.xx.xxx . Before location lock within 30 sec or even less than a minute, but after update it struggles to get a fix on location even after 20 min. I used ovi maps, google maps, but it does not giving me the correct location. I hope if i can downgrade to previous ver , what can i do ??

E66 firmware update failed

hello everybody.
i've recently got an older e66 and i decided to update its firmware since the original one was a 110.something version and the updater offered me a 410.something, i guess .. definatelly 4xx, i just don't recall the exact number.
everything went fine ... the NSA downloaded about 100MB and started instaliing. the nokia pc suite even said the phone was disconnecte (as the NSA mentioned should have been normal) and the screen went blinking as well. after about 10 minutes i noticed, that the progress bar somehow stopped near the end, estimated time to finish was 2 minutes... and stayed that way for like 2-3 minutes. after that i got a message "lost connection with the phone". !! (or something similar)
the NSA told me to unplug the cable and try again !!
so i waited for another like 5 minutes and did what it said.
But i realised that the phone was dead and the only thing it has been doing since is that keypad lights on and turns off again after a few seconds. If connected to the computer, the phone tries to connect to the computer, but it only connects for like 2 seconds and disconnects afterwards. in the device manager windows even creates a folder named "Wireless Communication Device" with two children - "Nokia USB Flashing Generic" and "Nokia USB Flashing Parent" with an icon of a computer with a phone next to it. but it disappears along with the "device disconnected" windows sound after about 2 seconds. i include a picture of the folder.
i have repeatedly tried the hard reset and i have also tried the battery trick several times. no success.
please help. i need the phone asap.
