E7 Ovi Chat Won't Connect

Hi all,
I've had my E7 for about 3 months, and haven't had a problem with it up until now.
I went on holiday a month ago, so it was sitting on my table with a dead battery until I returned four days ago. Once I'd charged up my phone, chat worked great, but only for one day. Since then when I try sign into Yahoo & MSN, I get the errors "Request Could Not Be Completed" & "Error During Sign In".
I haven't played with settings or anything. I've removed Chat and re-installed it, and updated it through the Ovi Store, but nothing seems to be helping. Searched the internet for other people having this issue, and had no (helpful) results.
Any ideas would be great.
Thanks!

  • Chats won't connect

I have this annoying behaviour of my iPhone 4 even after upgrading to IOS5. Facebook chat won't work, skype chat won't work...any app that uses chat won't work unless am connected to a wifi. Even though for most of the time, I have good 3G reception. This extends to video calling apps, google earth, accuweather, etc. I am not too sure if its a setting or I need to roll back to IOS4. I remember it worked somehow. Interestingly, the wifi in my home is actually a 3G connection that connects using a modem/router with wifi. So I get confused in why when I get out of the house I cannot continue my chats on the regular 3G on my poor iphone. Somebody please lend an advise before I throw away the iPhone for something else. My friends using other Android and Winmobile do not experience these annoying situations.
    Thanks for your help

    Thanks John,
Now what's up the chats not connecting? Does it mean any chat with the capability to do Video won't work too?
I can't even understand why apple restricts Video to wifi. Other Androids can do video on 3G. These are some of the reasons I was hesitant at first in by an iPhone. restrictions that caused microsoft mobile a downfall.

Seriously, **bleep**?  Nokia just keeps going further and further downhill.  I can't stand iPhones, but at least they work.  Help me to get with working before I fly to Scandinavia and throw my brickphone at the CEO's fat Finnish head.

  • OVI suite won't connect any phone

I'm having a regular issue with OVI suite; it won't recognise any phone connected to the PC!
When this happens, which is quite often, the PC recognises a device being attached (the usual USB jingle), the phone recognises the connection, even OVI Player recognises the phone just fine; but OVI suite won't. Connect new phone picks up nothing.
It happened with my old N85 and does with my new C7. I now have version 3.1.0.86 but it happened with previous versions too.
The only way I've found to "wake it up" is to repair the installation in Wondows control panel, it then works fine. In fact I just updated to veriosn 86 today but that new installation didn't work till after I'd repaired it!
    I have XP SP3 installed.
I realise this could be a PC issue not an OVI suite one but how come OVI player works fine so I can load music etc?
Any ideas anyone please? Repeated "repairs" are getting annoying!!
    Thanks.

  • In my messages App, AIM is logged in fine but Google Chat won't connect.

In my Messages app, for the Google chat it just keeps attempting to connect and then times out before repeating the process over and over.
If I go to my actual Gmail tab in my broswer, it logs in to Google Chat just fine, so I know it's possible to connect.
This problem only happens when I travel (I'm a comedian). I have no issues on my home network, but I've seen this when connecting in some hotels, airports, and coffee shops (not all).
Any idea why I can't connect to Google Chat in Messages, but can in my browser?
    Thanks for your help!
    Josh Sneed

    HI,
A Browser Login to Google is going to using port 443 to manage the secure bit about the Login process.
For much of the lifetime of iChat the regular posters in the iChat Forums were recommending changing to port 443 for AIM Logins and in iChat 6  it did actually become the default Login port.
Jabber Logins (and GoogleTalk is a Jabber server) happen on either port 5222 when they don't use SSL and port 5223 when they do.
Google do so the default port is 5223.
In a router the first 1024 ports are open (Allows Web Browsing, mostly port 80, Mail (loads of different ports but 25, 110 m 567, 589, 995 and some common ones) FTP on port 21 and 22, to name some).
Obviously port 5223 is above the 1024 threshold
This can mean in some places this port will not be open.
In some cases you will be able to convince the Hotel or Cafe to open the required ports
At home you have probably got UPnP set to Enabled in your router.  (This allows the apps to "tell" the router which ports to open.)
However whilst travelling you may want to log in to GoogleTalk on port 443  (GoogleTalk will accept this)
You have to Disable (Untick the "Enable this account" box) the account to be able to change the port.
    It still works with SSL.

  • C3-00 chat : "no service available" + OVI mail won...

    Hello all,
Bought a C3-00 goldenwhite 3 weeks ago, though never succeeded to connect to all the OVI applications (OVI chat, OVI mail + communities), which are the two main features that are the reason why i bought this phone
    - chosen connection mode : WIFI only (because prepaid card)
    - device system  version 7.20 (upgraded last week, thought it would resolve the OVI chat/mail issue) : update causes me all audio files downladed from ovi store to be "corrupted file / license expired" whereas it was free content, deleting files and downloading again doensn't bring improvement to the issue
    - restored factory settings but no improvement on OVI chat/mail application issues
    - called my operator: unlocked access to OVI mail "settings" part but wonce account is created, the "connection" wheels runs for a while but nothing happens / still have the "no services available" problem in ovi chat while communities keeps on "updating profile" but nothing happens as well soI don't have proper access to my profile (because "updating profile still runs)
precision : i have no problem to connect to OVI store or any other website through the navigator, issue of "no service available" (chat) and neverending connection (ovi mail) that prevent access to mail is only with those 2 application + communities
    eBuddy works fine
are there any settings to update?
thank you a lot for your help

@Nnova031: hello Well yes, youtube can work if You will make UDP configuration with some ports redirected on router, but this is no slution for me, because i have many wireless connections (few computers, wifi printer, other mobile phones/pda devices, and server with is got all ports redirected on it, rest of devices are using NAT).
The key to make everything work as it should is Nokia. They must fix using TCP/IP over WiFI (with NAT) by their apps. Without them they are just not useful, because all people bought this phones thinking they will use wifi and those really nice apps. Those apps are working well on GPRS/EGPRS for many reasons (like using some proxies by operators in configuration, by using external IP by device so all ports can be opened and waiting for data, while it is sooo insecure like hell, etc.).
I think it should be priority one for all Nokia developers to fix that, because they are selling product, that do not have options. that are reason 90% of all their customers did buy it. It is like buying car, that cannot drive without towing car.
Don't say you want to help - just do it! Happy user of Nokias: 6150 SAT (still work), 6021 (used as backup, still work), 5220 XpressMusic (Drown, screaming for Contact Service), C3-00 (my current phone).

  • N8: ovi chat / messanger won't work simultaneously...

Ovi chat / messanger won't work simultaneously with Gtalk on PC. Usually, Google Talk supports multiple clients being active, you can have it running at the same time on your PC, on your laptop and your android phone. But not on your N8 phone! The client on my Nokia works, but as soon as another client is started, say, on PC, it disconnects. Why?
    N8 / RM-596

    Any feedback about this?

  • N97 - Won't connect too Ovi software

    Hi all
Just received my N97 today, but im having issues connecting to Ovi Suite 1.1.
So im loading up the software, connecting supplied USB and selecting PC Suite connection type on phone. Then the following messag comes up.
"Data cable connection mode not compatible
Nokia N97 has been connected in a data cable connection mode which is not compatible with Ovi Suite.
Do you want to change the connection mode of the Nokia N97 now?"
So i click change and nothing happens and phone still isnt connected.
Can anyone shed some light on this issue and point me in the right direction?
    Thanks in advance
    Adam

-- Um no. No, it won't. Have you read this thread at all? See, the problem we have is that OVI Suite AND PC Suite won''t pick up the device in PC Suite Mode.
"If you have already installed the Ovi Suite, then head to System Properties->Hardware->Device Manager. Uninstall any existing drivers for the phone and re-connect the phone again."
-- Done. More than a couple of times. In different combinations. Device Manager has gone through the MTP device, Unknown device, N7 at least 10 times this weekend. I've uninstalled the Connectivity Solution and Cable Drivers numerous times as well, and installed both PC Suite and OVI Suite in different sequencies to try and prevent Vista loading drivers before Nokia does. It all doesn't work, trust me I've beaten this dog to death.
"The solution is simple enough. Uninstall the device from device manager of windows and plug it back in as described above."
-- Again, Done. More than a couple of times. I'm frustrated beyond caring now.
Seriously people, its just not worth the effort. I need new firmware for this phone to be worth anything - but Nokia make doing that practically impossible. Good luck.
Yeah, I had that same problem with the phone at the time when it was using v10. Now v12 is out it creates no problem what so ever.
Tip :- Try connecting the phone in other modes. Mass Memory. Try another PC for a change. I never could get my Vista Laptop to recognise the phone initially. But the old desktop running XP was able to do the trick.
Also, there is a "Phone Memory" Update available OTA for the phone. Try installing that. I'd recommend that you get the firmware updated ASAP. If the phone shows USB sign after connecting to the PC in PC Suite Mode, it is good enough for NSU to detect it and go ahead with the upgrade. As far as backup is concerned, N97 comes with UDP(User Data Protection) so you will find all your data and setting as it is after the upgrade.
    Good Luck !

  • IchaT won't connect--first time user!!!

I am trying desperatetly to talk to my 3 yr. old daughter on ichat.
She and her mom have an apple id with ichat and i have an aol chat name with ichat.
I read other posts and changed the network setting 443, so did she.
it won't connect and we get connection errors. no success yet. once, we both came up then froze.
    that's it.
    any ideas?

I'm asuming you mean video chat. Check both of your iChat Preferences Video Bandwidth Limit and make sure it is "none." With no other internet-savvy apps other than Safari running, each of you go to http://speedtest.net and do a speed test. Remember the smaller of kilobits-per-second upload and download numbers. Go into  System Preferences > Quicktime and select Streaming Speed to be the value closest to what you get from speedtest. Some people just say select 1/.5MBPS and all works well -- I have had a different experience than that so I recommend that you use the smallest of the speedtest numbers. Presumably, AIM's "wait awhile before trying to login again" penalty timer will have expired by the time you get this other stuff taken care of.
Let us know how this works out for you.
PS - are you, like, on business travel and in a hotel? You may have hotel firewall issues. Marriott chain hotels let you request a public IP address on their service signup page to bypass their restrictive port blocks, others you need to call the hotel's ISP support line and have them put you on a public IP. I think it is T-Mobile broadband that handles Hilton chain. They can do it but if you get an inexperienced customer service rep, (s)he may say that (s)he can't do that, but they can coz' I've had 'em do it for me before. And don't forget to have all ports in your Mac's firewall closed on your laptop mac that you are using in the hotel with a public IP and the Mac's firewall turned on. Don't want any internet evildoers seeing an unlocked door. iChat will open locally on your computer what ports you need.

  • IChat won't connect on school internet network...

hey, not sure which version if iChat i have but for some reason it won't connect on my school wireless networks.
my AIM does but ichat doesn't. What is the problem for this?
PS: off topic, AIM always shows all my buddies offline and online instead of just online in one list....anyone know how i can clean that up? thanks but ichat issue plz help me with thanks!

    Hi,
Most Servers and Domestic routing device have a range of ports up to port 1024 open as default.
Port 80 is used By Web Browsers
Port 443 is used by Web Browsers on Secure Sites like the Apple Discussion Login page and Banks, PayPal etc.
Mail Also sues port 443 and 110, and a whole range of other below 1024 depending on whether they are POP or IMAP and th service that runs them.
As I suggested Port 443 It would have expected it to be open and allowed you to at Least Log on with iChat.
You could try looking at your Mail Setting and use a port listed there if you can get mail from the server involved. (port 25 may only be open to your ISP's Mail Server from home and often data is not passed on to other Mail servers on that port so it will be blocked at the ISP even if you get mail)
After that chat to the IT guys and see what they say about IM apps in general (They may be blocking the IPs for the servers to "protect" Bandwitdh or for "Security" purposes.

  • E5 OVI Chat

    Hi,
Small problem. I have an E5-00 and the Chat App shows only OVI Chat.
With the SIM on my old Nokia E75, I get all the communities.
Is it just me or this is a generic problem? What did I do wrong
and/or why can't I connect to Yahoo! IM?
Both phones are not from a carrier.
Also, I have tried with a different SIM from a different carrier. Same thing.
    Best regards,
    Dilimot Mihai

I can confirm what lanselmo said.
At the first run it wanted to update the communities. So I let him.
I have the exact menu the lanselmo have. I can't select communities.
I tried to click update communities/services ( the first option) and let him go through
the carrier internet connection. (also tried with the wap connection)
I only got one community. As I said, the E75 has no problems.
The only one time the E75 did what E5 does, it's when I remove the SIM.
    It's like the E5 doesn't identify the newtork/SIM and doesn't wan't to load
the other communities. Hard reset(*#7370#) didn't seem to fixed this.
I only get sign in Ovi Chat or create a new Ovi Account.
(country Romania,  SIM tried: Orange two different SIMs, Vodafone one SIM).
I can't select communities, because there's no such option.
    Best regards,
    Dilimot Mihai
P.S.: Why can't I access Yahoo IM without a SIM? If you would like to see the menu I get
just remove the SIM, update the communities and you'll get the menu I have.
I did use the phone, sent SMS to MyNokia, made phone calls, received/sent SMS.
    Still, no dice.

  • Internet won't connect on imac but works on other devices

new-ish 20inch imac won't connect to any wireless networks (our own and the coffee shop next door)  but other devices (iphones, macbooks) will.....this imac is used as a register in my retail store and without internet we are unable to process credit card transactions..we are losing business. HELP!!! thank you!!!

    HI,
In most cases this is about the Internet Speed or the portion of it your computer gets that iChat can see at the moment it tests the speed during it's launch process.
That is to say that as you start up ichat it tests the speed it can see.
this can be effected by other computer doing a download and "taking" more of the Bandwidth or rather leaving a smaller amount for your Mac.
The same is true if your computer is already doing a download or using the Internet heavily.
Of course at that moment your ISP could also have cut the speed you get.
If you launch iChat and go to the Video Menu > Connection Doctor what does the Capabilities tab say ?
This may have red crosses against some items.
Also check iChat Menu > Preferences > Video Section > Bandwidth Limit
This should not be set at 100kbps fro Video chats.
Have you tried restarting the computer ?
