E70, GPS module and maps

Hi,
I intent to buy a Nokia GPS module LD-3W and I would like to know which maps (beside Nokia Maps) can I "upload/store/use" with this phone (I live in CEE - Central Eastern Europe - and would like to have maps for this region to)?
Since this is not my field... what else do I need to run navigation (turn by turn), some application?

Lot of offers around... For me, the best ones, are Tomtom and Route66. See which of those have better maps for your region. Others... Navigon, Wayfinder, nDrive, etc.

E61 - GPS Module and GOLF GPS Software

Hello Team - I want to buy a GPS system for distance measurement on my local golf course. Does anyone have any experience of the GPS modules (LD 1W or LD3W) for the E61? I see they claim 5-10 M accuracy, but that isn't really good enough for a Golf Course.
Also - in addition to the GPS module I would need to download the specialist GPS/Golf Course applicationi. There are plenty (eg IGOLF, SKYCADDIE). Does anyone have any experience of these - also on the E61.
I am wondering whether to use the GPS module + Golf App (bit cheaper) or just opt for the separate tool. Or not bother at all!
Any views or advice appreciated.

You are right to have reservations concerning accuracy as the following factors have to be taken into account:
Ionospheric effects ± 5 meter
Ephemeris errors ± 2.5 meter
Satellite clock errors ± 2 meter
Multipath distortion ± 1 meter
Tropospheric effects ± 0.5 meter
Numerical errors ± 1 meter or less
What may have been recorded as landmark one day can have shifted postion considerably on another.

Nokia 6301 and Nokia LD-3W Wireless GPS Module

Hi all!
I have the Nokia 6301.
From what I read on this page (http://www.nokia.ca/A4488459), the Nokia 6301 supports the Nokia LD-3W GPS Module. Correct me if I'm wrong but the phone doesn't supports the Nokia Maps.
What would be the best application for using the GPS module with this phone? I'd like an application that already includes the maps and don't required much "air time". ;-)

The LD-3W is a SIRF Star III chipset so TTFF=Time to First Fix will always be a lot more rapid, certainly if you are not going to utilize A-GPS feature in v12.0.013
I first used one with Route66 on a N70 and was very handy as it used same battery as N70. If you are using TomTom6 with it on a N80 you get a battery indication of power remaining in LD-3W in application screen. It is expensive but more resistant to dropping than quite a few of the cheaper receivers.
There is an option in Nokia Maps settings on N95 to use "external GPS" which needs to be enabled.

Set a variable in Adapter Module and read it during message mapping

Hi guys,
is there any way, how I could set some variable and store its value during the adapter module processing and read back this value in message mapping and use it? Without using a database or files.. I mean, some j2ee storage or something like that..

thanks for your answers.. just a clarification, what the problem is.
I need to validate a message in the adapter module, if it's digital signature is valid. If it is, I need to send back to the sender a return code (message) OK, otherwise ERROR. I can't modify the message (or dynamic configuration) as I'm using a WSS in the sender channel. The system doesn't allow me to change anything in the message, so I can't find out in the mapping what the validation result was. I then tried to do the validation directly in the message mapping, but I have some issues there with libraries or what, because the validation code, which works in the adapter module, doesn't work in the mapping java class. So my final thought was maybe I could validate the message in the adapter module and pass the result to the message mapping and then create an appropriate return message (in the mapping). However, I see no way of passing a value there. I'm stuck and have no Idea how to resolve the problem. Any hints guys?

E52 and LD-4W Bluetooth GPS module ?

Does the Nokia E52 support the LD-4W Bluetooth GPS module ?
I'm aware of the builtin A-GPS in the E52, however, it seems using the LD-4W for GPS has benefits in terms of GPS accuracy as well as conseving the phones battery.

On the E71 i use the LD-4W.... and i can confirm that accuracy is much better... and time to first fix is much lower. Only few problems with sometimes unstable Bluetooth connection... but this is an issue i have with all bluetooth connections, so it seems to be the phone......

Hi there Nokia personels..........i want to ask when you can sell that device here in the philippines, i got my new mobile phone and it doesnt have GPS built in this model so i look forward if theres a way and i found your new accessory using only a bluetooth link to this module and i can use now my nokia maps but ive tried to look here in nokia stores but theres nothing i found some of them they doesnt know about that device even they're the representative in nokia shops so is there any way to selling those product im willing to buy one for me and i know many filipinos trying to find that device mostly for the travelers like me since my job is in Sales Marketing (so this navigation accessory is my need for my areal routing and plotting)..............THANKS

I agree with you. Replaceing of the battery is not available with LD4W. But as I read is specs, Maximum 10 hurs usage is available wit LD-4W. Lets assume the actual is half of it! Still it is enough and you will have your car charger or external power pack to reload.
But, as you pointed, I didn't come a cross anyting about the durability of the battery Lets hope it will last at least for 02 years
One more things to add to my topic.
These modules can be connected to Laptops and use with anyother PC compatible navigation systems?

LD-4W Buetooth GPS Module + 5530XM??

Hey folks, i just have a quick question.
Is it's possible to use the LD-4W Bluetooth GPS Module on a 5530 XM
I don't want to buy a 5800XM because the 5530 is better (faster, smaller, ...)
But what i go miss is the GPS function (what the 5800 does have)
So i'm planning to also buy a LD-4W so i can use my cellphone as a GPS.
Does anyone know iff those 2 will work together?

The Nokia 5800 as you know has an inbuilt gps unlike the 5530
Ovi Or Nokia Maps (whichever you wish to call it) can be installed on the Nokia 5530.
The LD-3W does work on the 5530 even though not on the compatibility list so i presume the LD-4W will also work however it would be;
LD-3W:
65g (still feels really light)
15 hours operating time
7 Days Standby
It is also a nice small size being compact and light
LD-4W:
31g
11 hours operating time
4 days standby
The only real thing the LD-4W is better than the LD-3W with is looks. Personally-especially as its cheaper-I would go for the LD-3W.

E65 - GPS Module LD-3W

Sorry for my englih.
This is a post to explain how you can solve a problem with GPS modules.
I try maps with a Tomtom Bluetooth module on my new E65 and it works fine.
After this, i bought the Nokia LD module and it was impossible to configure.
Symptoms : maps don't find a GPS Blurtooth module ( but LD was on and previously detected by the phone )
Solution : I need to delete the Tomtom module always present in the Bluetooth menu. After that, i startet the tools\navigato and i was asked "what module". My choice was the LD module, and after that, it was christmas.
The nokia phone remember a Gps module until you erase him.
Don't loose time like me.
I hope i helped with this topic cause the manual is poor.

Unfortunately without knowing from which part of the world you are posting, it is not possible to suggest whether TomTom6, Route66 or Wayfinder7 might be appropriate to your needs.
Of these three mentioned only Wayfinder would offer you a free trial.

GPS module ?

Hi.
I have a 110W and I am very happy with it :-)
But, I have no idea how the GPS is to be used. Various locations mentioned 'GPS module' optional.
But I can't seem to find where I get a 'GPS module'. Is it an accessory? Anyone know where to get one?

Following the above advise I have installed the Broadcom GPS Location Sensor in Device Manager by going to Actions and Add Legacy Hardware.
I still couldn't get GPS recognised on the computer (I am using Simple GPS which does a port scan looking for GPS devices).
Then I figure I need a COM port as there are none in the Device Manager.
I installed a standard COM port and it came up with port 3, yay I thought but still no luck.
Further under COM ports I found Broadcom NMEA Port, I tried installing that but all it does is BSOD the computer. NUTS!
Any ideas?
Can someone post what they have under Sensors and Ports in the Device Manager?

HT4623 IOS 6.1.3 update and maps

I have updated my Iphone 5 to IOS 6 latest version (6.1.3) last week. Since then, Apple Maps doesn't display maps anymore on screen. GPS position and directions appear but on a blank screen. 3G and LTE aren't teh problem, iut works well with other apps and Google Maps. Is there anyone having the same issue ?

You need to backup all and then restore your contents after you have reinstalled IOS6.

Is there an easy way to get GPS coordinates from Maps.app in Mavericks?

My DSLR doesn't have a GPS built in, but I like to Geo-tag some of my photos. I usually just take a pic with my iPhone and then copy the geo data (GPS coordinates) and paste into the photos (in Adobe Lightroom). Unfortunately, I didn't have my phone with me. I have the location stored as a bookmark in Maps, but I don't see any easy way to just pull coordinates.

I am doing the same thing too. I have to call my reports thru menu. I tried web.show_document in my menu and it works. I also added paramform=yes and it gives the report parameters, but I want to give the user the choice of format for the reports. eg. pdf, html, excel, etc. instead of hardcoding it.
Could you please give me some idea on how can I do that??

Map loader and map version numbers?

ive just spent 4 hours downloading and installing western europe for my n95 8gb and maps 3
My map loader is version 3.0.24.0 and map version 0.1.22.103
how can I check in future that a new map version is out for my phone and western europe???

unfortunately no, it does not seem that you can compare the version of map data. strange though, i wouldn't have thought it would be that difficult to include the date of maps in the software. but alas, there is no option anywhere in Map Loader or the Maps application to view this . ohwell, i personally don't see the need to update maps until at least six months/a year in the future anyway. unless the region that you live in is constantly changing and it affects your travel habits, in which case you can see the importance. but i'm happy enough updating every six months/a year (yearly in which new version of Maps is released anyway).
personally, also i think standalone GPS units for cars such as TomTom, Navman etc are much more useful in day-to-day usage for navigation. nothing against Nokia phones, but just for convenience they are much much easier and there is the larger screen which makes things much much easier. for me, the phones are useful in Pedestrian mode or for short distance, non-complicated routes (i.e. few street directions). then again, i also use a paper street directory sometimes as well. just whatever floats your boat i guess

"Old" 5530 Xpress Music and Maps (UK/Europe)

I have one of these which in the past I connected with a Nokia GPS unit and it worked very well as a Sat-Nav unit. I need to use it again. I am in UK - I am going to drive to Spain via Belgium/Switzerland/France. I charged it and the GPS unit and then opened up Nokia suite and was able to download all the maps I needed. Basically it appears to be ready to go as it knows where it is and I can move around the maps. However, I don't seem to be able to buy a subcription to the live service and without that it will not calculate a route. Has MAPS been discontinued for phones this old (I mean 4/5 years is that really, really, old......). The software about screen says it is based on S60 5th Edition Software and shows a 2013 copyright logo. Device updates says it's running V32.0.007 (Custom Version 32.0.007.204.02).
I read somewhere that the newer maps won't work with older symbian phones, but I'd settle for older maps I just need a subscription.

Although I bought a "Voice Navigation" license for device using Ovi Maps v3.01 a few months back, 5530 XpressMusic doesn't have inbuilt GPS chip and Nokia seem to have a policy now for not supporting use of Nokia Maps for devices without Integrated GPS. This may account for "License Manager" not offering you option to purchase license from "Shop" anymore.

Flex 4 Modules and Stylesheets

I am having trouble using stylesheets in a module, in particular with class styles (i.e. ".myStyle"). They are not loading at compile time. My module is:

So, the component's (which is a UIComponent subclass in the module) styleManager.ModuleFactory is the top-level application (ii.e. app embedding the module) system manager. Not, the local modul's systemManager.
Chokes, means returns null on the getStyleDeclaration call.

Using styles with modules
When you set styles on modules, the style properties are set on the local StyleManager. Each module has its own instance of the IStyleManager2 class. This means that each module can load its own set of styles, and its styles do not necessarily affect the styles of other modules.
After an application finishes loading a module, the module’s styles are merged with the styles of the application. The module’s StyleManager walks the chain of parent modules and applications, up to the top-level StyleManager, and merges its styles with those set on the StyleManagers above it.
Thus, it seems the styles should merge and thus be accessible by the top-level system manager, no?
That being said, if not, how do you actually locate the the local system manager instance to use it? Or can't you?

Built in GPS module in iphone 3G/3GS

Hi all,
I have googled but could not find any information.
With regards to built in GPS module in iphone 3G/3GS, i heard some says
* Only 3G/3GS 16GB & 32GB has the built in GPS module (yes or no)
I need to confirm, because i am suspecting my 3G 8GB has no built in GPS module.
Assuming there is, i also could grab any GPS signal, using MotionX lite application to test.
Any advice is appreciated.

ALL iPhone 3G and 3GS models sold outside of China have GPS, as shown on the Apple iPhone web site. Only the original iPhone lacks GPS
