E70 navigation key obviously a problem

I was rather pleased with my E70, but not with its joystick, which ground to a halt a couple of months ago. The phone has now been with its Maker for repair for 6 weeks. I am told the problem is a shortage of joysticks. What 'joy'!
In the meantime I have bought an E61i (how can I manage without a smart phone?), whose D-pad is better than the E70 joystick (and it's silent!!) tho' still not perfect. Graphics handling is much faster and I rarely 'out of memory' msgs.
I still miss many functions of the E70 - the keyboard is far better and finding the numbers on the E61i isn't easy in the dark.
Hope they find some new joysticks...
But why should anybody wait 6 weeks for a repair?? It would be great if the new lasted more than a year! Perhaps that's why they're keeping me waiting... ;-)

N79 - problem with central navigation key

I've got a problem with my N79. The central navigation key refuses to work after I play a N-gage game (hooked on, to be specific). Rebooting helps but it's so irritating.
Anyone knows how to solve this?

Update:
I tried a couple of other N-gage games - the central key didn't freeze.
A strange thought vame to me - those games were trial, Hooked on is paid by activation number. And i don't remember having problems when I played Hooked on in trial mode. 0_0
Aha, I just found another way to unfreeze the central key - the keylock slider. It's much better than rebooting, but not less irritating.

Creative Zen Vision 30GB - How to set IR Remote ON with Navigation keys not working in the play

I have Creative Zen Vision 30GB player. Within a month of buying, its navigation keys stopped working. I took it to the customer service of store where I bought it and they fixed it (their solution was to make firmware update, even though I do not understand how come that can fix this issue). Anyways after another 5 months of not so often use, the same problem returned (key pad stopped working and without it this player is useless). I sent it to Creative and they returned it saying that as it has few scratches on the edges, they believe it has been hit. I never dropped the player and these are normal scratches at the end if you do not use any skin (which I could never find for this player). Btw from my other friend's experiences, Creative always does like this, never considered warranty (so beware!). Anyways now the problem is that I have IR remote for Zen vision but it can not work till IR Remote setting in System->Player Settings is switched ON. And this can not be done as the navigation keys are not working. So please please suggest me some other way if anybody of you know to enable this setting through software. Otherwise this costly player is just a 30GB harddisk for me

Just wanted to mention - I bought the IR Remote thinking to make the player useful without navigation keys. Now I feel like I wasted more money instead of shifting to some other player by some other company with better customer service.

Navigation key in 6700 slide

Does anyone know how or if you can personalise the middle navigation key so you can choose which applications it goes to if you click right, left, up or down? Can't find it in the manual and can't figure it out without it.

Backlight of the navigation keys Lumia 830 not wor...

My backlight of the navigation bar of the Nokia Lumia 830 are not working properly. They were on in the beginning, but after a while they turned off. If I disable the option ''battery saver (brightness)'' in the settings of ''screen'', the lights turn on!! Strange.
The problem is.. I haven't enabled battery saver and my battery is fully charged. Still, the lights won't go on when I have enabled the option ''battery saver (brightness)''.Thereby, on my glance screen the battery saver icon is activated. Agian, battery saver is not activated.
Looks like a software problem. Is this a known problem and is there a solution?

I first wanted to say thank you for your response!
Yes, I'm still experiencing it, but I've found a workaround. Let me first answer your questions and then I will tell you about my workaround.
It doesn't happen randomly. It started after a charge overnight. I inplugged my device and this battery shield was on my glance screen, even though battery saver was not activated. On my start screen this shield wasn't visible on the battery icon. After that, my navigation keys won't light up anymore. I've tried soft resets and all options in the battery saver settings, but that didn't help. I would have contacted my point of purchase if it was a hardware defect, but..
I've found out that it isn't. It is a software bug. In settings there is also a setting for ''screen''. If I go there, there is an option called ''battery saver (brightness)''. It is enabled by default, which is good so my screen will be dimmed when battery saver is active. But.. although battery saver is NOT active, this option does effect my brightness (so it will dim when battery saver is not active)! Thereby, when I disable this option, my keys will light up!!
It seems some sort of software bug related to the battery saver. It is not enabled on my device and my phone is fully charged, but there is a battery shield on my glance screen and the option under screen does have effect on my brightness. I've checked it with a Lumia 930. The option under screen (battery saver (brightness)) has no effect on the brightness of the screen when battery saver is not active. After activating, the lights of the keys will also still light up. So, no trouble with the Lumia 930.
I hope I explained it clear. If not, feel free to ask.
btw, is there somewhere I can report this bug? Or if I report it her, will it be in the right place?

Soft Navigator Key in the virtual keyboard

I don't know whether anybody has such issue :-
In any text input field, if you want to insert a word at the begging of the sentence, is it very difficult to move the cursor with my finger?
For instance:
I composed a text message "will meet you later", but now I want to add "I" at the beginning of the text, so the full sentence will be "I will meet you later".
The issue is I have problem to move the cursor in front of the "will ...."
I know this is not a problem, it should be a enhance feature. Like Sougo IME, there is a soft navigator key pad will be easier for the big finger user.
what advise?

Assuming it's an Apple layout keyboard, hold down the command key. When you hit the space bar once, the menu of available languages will pop up, and you can toggle between them with the space bar. After you find the language you want, release the command key.

Nokia 5310 Temperamental Navigation Key

I have had a Nokia 5310 Music Xpress phone for about a month and overall I love it and think its a great phone! Not only can I listen to all the music I want on it but also read any pdf ebook I want thanks to some great Java utilitys. (Apologies for the mini review but I really am enamored with this mobile :-)
But recently its developed an annoying problem. When I intially start using the phone the navigation key (the one in the middle) want function when I press it down or right! I usually have to be pressing buttons for a few minutes or so before these directions start to work.
I'm therefore assuming its not a hardware fault but anyone know what could be the matter and more importantly how I can fixs it?

its ok mate, i understand the fear when your phone doesn't work properly or suddenly stops working eep . anyways, since there is no other surefire way to clear the slate the phone works with as yours is a Series40 phone, the only thing you can do now is to take your phone to a local Nokia Care Centre. maybe the contacts are misaligned with the keys (sorry, attempting a technical explanatoin here ), i had the same problem with an old samsung mp3 player. the centre key was a joystick and after too much usage, it becomes so mashed and misaligned that can't select up/down and right accurately and correctly most of the time.
however, there is also the possibility that it still may be something to do with the firmware. often Series60 phones have firmware updates that improve the reliability of the soft-key selections, so it could be something along the lines of that too. but only definite way to check is to take your phone to your Nokia Care Centre. sorry to hear that its stilll not working properly

Navigation key not working

I have 6600, the problem with my phone is the navigation key is not working some times... i had the same problem with left softkey but it is fixed by itself, i don't know how it got fixed but it started with the navigation key now.. it works fine all the sides but when i move it upwards it is not working.. and it is not happaning all the times.. some times it is working fine and some times it is not... some one plz help me out in this issue........

I am facing one issue in using navigation key.
When i use the first record and last recor key or next recor or previous recor key for any form like AR Invoice , PO etc. i am getting previous year transactions.
How we can lock that.
It is creating a mess between twp periods.

Hi,
Suda is right, it is not possible to lock the previous year's transactions. However you will see the transactions in order of the Document Number, so if you set up your document numbering to differentiate between the different years then at least they will be in a logical order.

Backspace navigation key not working in web browser using linux, but does on windoze

using ubuntu 10.04 (lucid). when navigating a web forum, the backspace key (previous page) does not function. the scroll keys are a little jerky too. i have both 'use navigation keys' and 'smooth scrolling' enabled in options.

If what you mean is about doing somethng yourself to the Hardware of the phone by dismentalling...then this is not the place..as anything that voids the Warrranty can not be discussed here...

N96 music controls around navigation key

I'm sure when I first got my N96 the music controls around the navigation key only lit up when the music player was active. Now they come on all the time.
Can this be changed or is it a fault?

i believe they are lit on whenever the keypad light is on, they are off when you slide the phone to reveal the upper player controls in which case the ones around the navigation wheel will turn off.

No, this is part of the phone software and android in general. A lot of phones have it. In fact I can only think of a couple which don't (HTC one springs to mind)

6210I left hand navigation key

I wet my Nokia and managed to transfer photos from images to a new handset. What I can't transfer are images in my text in box and sent box. This is because my left hand navigation key is stuck. This means that I can't hit options therefore I can't send them via bluetooth or text them elsewhere like a computer or another handset. I have a mac and have never been able to download photos off the phone! Is it a case of getting the key pad repaired before I can free the images, videos and sound recordings of my baby? This is probably the 15th attempt I have made to access these images. Thank you!

have you tied going to shorcuts and move the function you need to the other side or use the active standby the same way and if going left does not work try going right til you get to the desired selection
