E71-2 RM-357 Firmware

I've got a Nokia E71-2 RM-357 and the current firmware is 200.21.118. After checking online with the product code what firmware I am eligeble for, apparently that is the latest one, however I am seeing a LOT of people enjoying 410.21.010.
Is it at all possible for me to upgrade to this version? Or something newer at least? I'm having some issues with my E71 turning off on its own and doing some very random things.
Thanks!

Lotuslord,
I can confirm it is availabel for 0569371 and it installed for me. However,  Nokia Ovi Suite did not detect it.
If you check the "can i update" section of nokia's site, it shows the new firmware it as available for 0569371 and if you use the downloader for "Nokia Software Updater" this detected it for me. The version code checker link, and the downloader are available via the below link.

  • E71 email problem (E71-2, RM-357)

I have a Nokia E71-2 (RM-357) which is generally usable and is a vast improvement over the E61 that I had previously. However, since updating to firmware 200.21.118, 11-27-2008 I noticed a serious problem.
When retrieving email often and reproducibly the Messaging application changes the email message date/time of arrival to the time that it was downloaded to the phone, disregarding the server timestamp. This happens 100% of the time with POP3 email servers when downloading email I sent from the phone (using SMTP). This happens very often, though not always, when I download email others sent me via POP3.
Any suggestions on fixing this? I'd appreciate it.

I have more details about this problem. Let's say there is an email waiting to be delivered on the server. If I download this email using the phone first and then get it with my desktop client everything is fine. If however I download the email on the computer first and they retrieve it with the phone then the date stamp will be wrong. I'm fairly certain that this problem is new with firmware 200.x.

  • E71 0569371 version 4 firmware

What in the world is going on with the firmware update for this model number?
It took forever to come out, was up for a few days in December and taken back down.
It was up last week for a few days but wouldn't download without an error. Now it is taken down again. I don't want to change my model number; I'd just like to be able to update my phone like everyone else.

I agree with ya.  I just updated last week. Downloaded with no problems.  But the update did error out around 45seconds left.  Said it lost connection with the device and to unplug the USB cable and plug it back in and hit the Try again button. Tried reinstalling the firmware several times and it always errored out around the 45sec mark.  Phone always restarted at that point but it always came up just fine.
The phone does say it has v400 on it though.  It did spontaneously reboot itself one day. Thankfully I wasnt talkin on it. just using an SSH program to connect to something.  There are some things I think they should have fixed before releasing it.   Hopefully when they post it up again those things will be fixed.

  • E71 iSync broken after firmware update?

My E71 worked fine with iSync before. I upgraded the firmware, but iSync shows me that I can not sync with the E71 (same warning as before plugin from Nokia was installed). I reinstalled the plugin, but nothing changed. This is rather stupid because you expect that an upgrade makes things better.
Anybody else with the same problem?

Before you start saying what Nokia does and does not do, did you look here: http://europe.nokia.com/get-support-and-software/product-support/isync/compatibility-and-download. Second, if you think that the firmware update (done on a Windows machine or Nokia service point with a Windows machine)in some way broke the iSync plug-in then you really have no clue as to how things work. Windows and Mac are worlds apart. I did not have to update, download or re-install the plug-in again. So maybe it is something you did. My E71 continued to function exactly as it did before the upgrade. The only thing I had to do was to re-pair the phone back to my Mac and things worked without issue. In fact, for me, the BT seems a bit more stable than before (which was not great) but for sure an improvement.

Clearly the last firmware update broke the iSync plug in. Hell, it was working perfectly for me, I even got a friend to buy an E71 because of my bragging of it being the best mobile I've ever had.
Why can't nokia issue a simple update to the iSync plug in? Can't imagine being that hard.
Why should we buy a USD 10.00 product because Nokia broke their compatibility with the Mac platform?

  • Nokia E71 - Product 0578223 No firmware update

I have had my E71 for over 12 months now and had no issues, all of a sudden the device keeps turning itself off and is quite slow and unresponsive.
I checked for an update on the Nokia Update Checker site and on entering the following details:
    Product Code: 0578223
It states there is no updates, I find this quite bizarre when I see people on the net using 300.xx.xxx
I have phoned my provider Orange (UK) and they state to contact Nokia.
Anyone else having issues with this product code, or know of a solution to getting a firmware update?
My current firmware on the device is 200.21.118

Herewith my reply from Nokia Support:
Thank you for contacting Nokia Careline.
In response to your concern, we understand that you would like to update your phone's firmware. However, upon checking your phone's product code 059H6F1, the firmware version that is available for your phone is software version 021.014. For your reference, you may visit the link below:
    http://www.nokia.co.uk/appmanager/UnitedKingdomEnglishNOKIA_UK_23/Get_support;JSESSIONID_NCOM=G2ZNTN...
Furthermore, firmware version 021.014 is the general firmware for all Nokia E6-00 phones. Kindly be informed that there are factors that affect its distribution such as the following:
    1. Product code of handset (for there are certain compatible software for each variant as guided by the Federal Communications Commission and other related legal authorities).
    2. Country (there are designated firmwares for different countries as this also require the approval of Telecommunication authorities of each country).
    3. Network Service Provider (for they may not have approved the software yet due to their modifications on your handset which will be affected upon updating).
For future reference, please feel free to check our website. Kindly refer to the link below:

You may also call our Customer Care Hotline at 0845-045-5555, Mon-Fri 9am-7pm (except bank and public holidays).
Please do not hesitate to contact us again if you have any further questions.
It does rather beg the question as to why the firmware updates are displayed on their GB/UK E6-00 support pages, but that's Nokia !

  • E71: stuck with old firmware

I have bought a European (French) version of the E71 (RM-346) and I'm stuck with the 400.21.013 version of the firmware, that has been released in October 2009. For some reason, I have never been able to upgrade to the 410.21.010 version, released 08 February 2010. Now a new version to the firmware is available (500.21.009) but I still can't upgrade. I have just checked the Nokia website: here the message I got :
Latest available software for your device:
    Version::  400.21.013
    (Product code 0559592).
Even though I'm pretty found of the phone, I feel like being a beta tester who has paid full price for its buggy phone and I'm tired of having to reset the phone twice a day. Maybe my upgrade will be available for version 600.XX.XXX? I hope my phone will last till then.

EVEN IF IT'S NOT A HARD REVERTING TO FACTORY SETTINGS HE'S PERFORMING 2 TIMES A DAY, IT'S A RESET ANYWAY. IT'S ALL PAINS TO RESET YOUR PHONE ALL THE TIME I KNOW AND ONE GOOD ADVICE FROM ONCLE SAM IS "MOVE TO ANOTHER BRAND AS SOON AS YOU CAN AND LEAVE NOKIA KEEP ON CONNECTING PEOPLE" NOKIA PRODUCTS ARE GADGETS, AND ONCE I SAID IT, IF YOU HAVE NO TROUBLES AND REALLY HAVE NOTHING TO DO IN YOUR LIFE THEN BUY YOUR SELF A NOKIA, YOU WILL SEE HOW MUCH YOU GONNA BE BUSY WITH YOUR BRAIN AND WITH YOUR FINGERS AFTER THAT.

  • E51/E71: Config backup before firmware upgrade?

    Hi,
That's really not limited to the E51/E71 I guess. Question is: I hate losing configuration settings every time I upgrade the firmware. If I create a full phone backup before upgrading the firmware, can I later restore it and get all my settings/data back proper? Is that the right way to do it or is there a better one?
    TIA.

Yes, that should work fine. Well does for me anyway

  • Nokia E71 problem with New Firmware 410.21.010

I have updated my Nokia E71 (RM-346) to new firmware 410.21.010. It creating a problem with battery that drain out quickly. Before update, for normal use, I need to charge once a week. But after upgrade new firmware 410.21.010. It finishes in 24 hour for normal use. I have read article that I can not downgrade, just only to wait for next firmware. Have some one any solution?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I had a Nokia E71 running very happily on version 3 firmware. I updated the firnware to 410.21.010.
It worked fine until I switched the phone off and tried to re-start the phone. It stopped working.
It is my work phone. The messaage on the phone said take it back to my retailer. He tried to get it fixed but because Nokia say it is out of warranty I am out of a phone that is set up to use the Oki system.
It worked perfectly well until the software update.
It is now at my retailer waiting for me to collect.
    This is very disappointing.
Especially as I am now considering not using a Nokia telephone ever again. Moreover, I am sure that Fair Trading would consider this matter very strange and might like ot investigate it further.
I want my E71 fixed for free by Nokia as it was working without any malfunctions until the firmware update - which was done after receiving notification from Nokia. I have not been able to use the Oki system for some weeks now and would like to contiue using Nokia. Otherwise I guess Nokia lose another customer to iPhone or HTC or Samsung. I await anyone's advice on this matter.

  • E71 User Feedback: Software, Firmware Update and B...

First, some comments about the e-mail app:
    1. Actual headers can be seen nowhere (Received:-Lines, X-...-Headers, etc.)
    2. Cannot directly tell the application to store sent mails in a "Sent" folder, have to use server-side hacks with the "send copy to myself" option :-( Also cannot tell it to store deleted mails in Trash folder.
    3. Reply flag is not set when replying (I cannot see on my PC using e.g. Thunderbird which mails were already replied to or not)
Oh well, and BTW a shortcut for smilies in text messages is missing completely.
A countdown timer is missing. Much simpler Nokia phones have it.
Another detail: whereas the default action for the messaging one-touch key is to open the emails, I would have liked to assign that to the messaging key (LONG press). Apparently that is impossible though. :-\
Futhermore, not all keys assignments intuitive, and one could more often use the volume up/down keys, which are in use almost never. I know there are applications for that out there, but still, who is doing the UI testing of these devices? ;-)
I also have the feeling that network reception is worse than with my old Nokia phone.
Apart from those (and more) details, I nevertheless like the device very much, the UI is fast and cool and does more or less everything I want it to do!
The battery lasted quite some time (5 days?) after the first charge. After that, no such luck. Maybe 3 days now.
Using the Update Software as non-administrator does not warn that the Administrator password will be required to install several devices during Software Update. I wonder what happens if one does not.
    Backup/Restore:
    - CALENDAR seems to be saved BUT IS NOT RESTORED (neither using backup to memory card nor PC Suite)
    - does not backup/restore phone lock delay
    - does not backup/restore GSM/UMTS/dual network setting
    - M!Weather Application was not backed up/restored, not sure why, Device Status not either

  • E71 Camera Taking more time to load after firmware...

    Hi friends,
    this forum is extremely useful.
i had my E71 recently uploaded with firmware 210 and its camera is taking more time to load and using multiscanner makes a sharp sound as it zooms text.
    ANY HELP
    anyone facing similar problems.

If you restored from a backup there could be something in that backup thats causing it to slow.
If you back it up again, and then hard reset it so that it goes back to default (Remember you will LOSE everything doing that if its not backed up) and then try the camera again to see if it is slow that might give you an indication that there is something wrong in the back up.
    Just an idea.

  • E71: no longer able to send via Nokia Email

I just upgraded to 200.21.118 on my e71-2 RM-357 (in spite of all the talk, only this firmware was available).
I can no longer very easily send an email through Nokia Email. Before, I was able to select an entry through the Contacts app, choose 'Send email', and Nokia Email would have been an option to send an email through. Now I only have the choice of the default Messaging application and the accounts I have set up through that.
Similarly, I was with my version 100 firmware able to launch the email client if I configured one of the hotkeys to 'send a message.' Now, the only emails that can be sent are through the default client.
    Thanks in advance...

    Hi there!
    I suggest the following steps:
    1) Dial *228 and select Option 1. Dial it again and select Option 2.
    2) Register HRT
Homescreen > Options > Advanced Options > Host Routing Table > (it does not matter which line is current) > Register Now
    3) Resend Service Books
KB02830 Send the service books for the BlackBerry Internet Service
    4) Batt Pull Reboot
Anytime random strange behavior or sluggishness creeps in, the first thing to do is a battery pop reboot. With power ON, remove the back cover and pull out the battery. Wait about a minute then replace the battery and cover. Power up and wait patiently through the long reboot -- ~5 minutes. See if things have returned to good operation. Like all computing devices, BB's suffer from memory leaks and such...with a hard reboot being the best cure.
Hopefully that will get things going again for you! If not, then you should try deleting and re-adding your BIS conduits for the affected email accounts.

  • E71 Bar code scanner versus camera quality

So I just updated my E71 from an older firmware to the latest: 501.21.001 and it's a RM-357 (E71-2; 270.07).  I've been playing around with it to see the changes and I noticed that when using the bar code scanner, the quality of the picture is incredibly strong!  I don't remember it being that good.
Now, when I load the camera, it's the same quality as previous firmware versions, fairly poor.  "Close-up mode" is very blurry with anything closer than a few inches or 20+cm.  This is very different from the bar code scanner.
Why is this so different and how to fix it?  Can anyone else verify this as well?

I use Scandit for barcodes and it works great on my fascinate.  I have no problems.

  • E71 and boingo

I downloaded from boingo mobile using my cellphone with a free wireless connection and it had some sort of problems installing and then didn't seem to work too well at either starbucks or barnes and noble. Both of these sites showed attwifi WLANs available.
So then I de-installed boingo and tried to install using PC-Suite, but I get some message on the cellphone about how the .sis file is corrupted.
And I'm also unable to get Fring to work. It downloads (using the cellphone at a free wireless site), installs okay (I think), then hangs during initialization.
I'm pretty new to smartphones. Is there any sort of log of error messages when applications have problems? "Fring installs and then hangs during initialization"--how is anyone supposed to diagnose a problem with no more information than that? But yet that is all I can provide.
I must say, this smartphone would be really sweet if I could get it to work with Boingo and Fring for SkypeOut. I also tried Gizmo but that also hung during installatin or initialization (I forget which) and then the Gizmo website support forum crashed on me with a database problem when I posted a complaint about billing. I finally lost my temper and told them to give me money back. (I had managed to buy some GizmoOut minutes using PayPay after all sorts of problems with GoogleCheckout).
I'm pretty experienced with **bleep** software, having been a windows user since way back when. But I was hoping that I could get away from all that foolishness by going Symbian instead of Windows Mobile. Please don't tell me I made a big mistake here...
    E71-2, 236.01, RM-357, firmware 100.07.06 (08-06-2008)

Okay, part of the problem is the Opera browser (
9.50 Build 10063) on Windows XP SP3. I use Opera because it is fast, but it has all sorts of bugs and now I've discovered yet another bug--it doesn't download from the boingo site properly (why can't boingo just use a normal download instead of a java script or whatever the hell they are doing?). Incidentally, I can't update to the latest version of Opera becaue the installation package keeps crashing on me. Anyway, I went back to IE7.0 and was able to download the boingo .sisx file and now seems to have installed properly on my E71. So tomorrow I will go back to Starbucks and try connecting there again.

    Hi,
E71-2 (RM-357) supports 3G frequencies 850/1900 in US. 3G mobile networks in Euro/Asian work on 3G frequency 2100Mh. So, if changed product code to Euro version and re-loaded firmware to RM-346, this E71 will supports 3G frequency 2100Mhz and works fine w/ 3G networks in Euro/Asian? (FW RM-346 supports 3G frequency 2100Mhz).
    Many tks.

T-Mobile use a completely different frequency band (1700MHz). It may work if you can find the product code of a T-Mobile E71.
