E71 - cannot set automatic retrieval

Hi all,
I have set up my E71 email which works fine - I can send and receive both over WLAN & through GPRS - but when I set "Automatic Retreival" I don't get the option to set the retreival interval, so I cannot get automatic retrieval. Is there some other pre-requisite for it to work? Firmware 110.07.127

Hi,
From your description, I recommend you check if you can set automatic reply via OWA externally. If yes, please configure the autodiscover in your environment and check if you can set automatic reply via Outlook externally. The Autodiscover service is responsible
for providing the URLs for various Outlook features that manage functionality such as OOF, free/busy information and so on.

We cannot seem to set automatic reply's within outlook 2010 & 2013. We have an exchange server 2010. We
can setup automatic reply through OWA absolutely fine. The error that we receive is 'Your automatic reply settings cannot be displayed because the server is currently unavailable. Try again later.
However we can setup out of office on any other office version below 2010 fine. We have run through
a number of tests and have come to the conclusion that the auto discover service is not configured correctly. I have been told to run through the following

POP,IMAP,SMTP,IIS

to apply the changes.
If the user is connect
to mailbox from external environment as your test results, it is recommended to add the autodiscover.mydomain.co.uk name in your certificate with IIS service. If so, the autodiscover
service can be accessed successfully in your posted second steps(https:/autodiscover.mydomain.co.uk/autodiscover/autodiscover.xml). Alternatively, if you don’t want to change your certificate configuration, we need to create a new SRV record for mail.mydomainname.co.uk

So I followed this and opened Exchange Managemnet Shell and ran the following.....

I opened up 'Internet Information
Services (IIS) Manager to find 2 Server Certificates issues to 'mail.companyname'
with the certificate hash' 62C247B3BD081D0A8B074D4A928A76E6DA3BABBA' and '71ADF367E190E269C1036BBF4A09C55E62536791'.
I opened up the Exchange Management
Console to confirm that the IMAP, POP, IIS, and SMTP services are bound to both of the certificates for 'mail.companyname'.co.uk
I need to know if it is okay to proceed in replacing the certificate and running this
command.

Hi,
We have this problem with some of our users, in that they get the server unavailable error when trying to activate the out of office.
In our case this is because the Proxy is blocking the connection from the PC to the Exchange, so we just go to Internet Options - Connections - LAN Settings - Advanced (under proxy server) then just add *.domain.com into the Exceptions box at the bottom.
This seems to resolve the issue and allow them to set their out of office. The only reason this reoccurs for these users is because their roaming profile for some reason won't save the proxy settings, which is a different issue.

E71 automatic retrieval problems

Just bought the Nokia E71 but having problems with the email automatic retrieval. I have done all the required settings for it but it does not automatically retrieve. I had an E61i until now and the auto frretrieval worked fine so I know what it's about...any advice??? one thing is that when I go into the email setting and the auto retrieval section ans then come back out it starts to retrieve automatically but only that once...all other times I have to manually retrieve...I am using Eircom Net email system in Ireland...please advise

I also moved from an e61i to and E71 but didn't have any problems moving my mail accounts. I have three on the phone (MFE, POP3, and IMAP4). All work fine.
Can you connect manually to the Eircom Net email service?
What settings are you using for the "Access point in use" under the "Connection settings"? I've never had any luck getting this to work using WIFI and have all 3 accounts setup to use my ATT 3G Connection.
Also, check your "Retrieval settings" and "Automatic Retrieval" configuration to make sure they are correct.

Please follow this step.
1. As you said you are in coexistence step , so for now all endpoint already point to Exchange 2010 right?
2. Check legacy owa redirect that you already configure
3. In Exchange 2010 , Make sure that you already configure "Autodiscoverinternaluri" by this command set-clientaccessserver -identity "servername" -autodiscoverinternaluri
https://autodiscover.domain.com/autodiscover/autodiscover.xml. and don't forget to create autodiscover record in DNS
4. in Exchange 2010 , Make sure that you already configure "EWS" path by this command set-webservicesvertualdirectory -identity "XXX\Default web site name" -internalurl
https://yourinternalurl/EWS/Exchange.asmx -externalurl https://yourexternalurl/EWS/Exchange.asmx
5. don't forget to replicate freebusy from Exchange 2003 to Excahnge 2010 via public folder.
You error look like client cannot get autodiscover process please check it again.

E71 -- Cannot open SMS if E-mail notification is e...

Hi Nokians,
I have discovered a bug. When e-mail is configured as such:-
Automatic Retrieval > E-Mail notifications > only in home network
When I open an incoming SMS, a warning message appeared:-
"Messaging: Memeory Full. Close some applications and try again."
I checked my phone's memory, it has 95MB free memory.
I need to disable E-mail notifications, then only I am able to open an incoming SMS.
On another matter, what is the differecen between these two:-
1. Automatic retrieval > E-mail notifications
2. Automatic retrieval > E-mail retrieval
I can only enable either one of them but not both.

N97 Automatic Retrieval Emails - Won't work

Hi, I have had my N97 for 6 months now and it's been working fine and my emails have been automatically been retrieved every 5 minutes as set. When I wanted to upload the new Ovi Maps I did not have enoght memory so reset the phone and started all over again.
My N97 is working fine again apart from the Automatic Retrieval for emails. I have the automatic retrieval set (as is was set prior to the reset) but it is not now connecting every 5 mins and I have to manually connect it to see if I have any emails. When I connect manually I can retrieve emails OK and I can also send emails OK, it is the automatic retrieval that will not work, although it is set up. The phones software is also up to date.
Any ideas anyone?

I get a screen telling me that some of the updates require a restart and I click ok to continue and restart now.

I am trying to modify the value of the field "Job Code" through API I am getting the following error.(OIM11gr2). I do not get this error when updating the other fields. Cannot reconnect automatically to 802.1x network

We are continuing to have a problem in my school with all the macs used by staff-about two dozen in all.
I asked our pc network guy to compose the the question below. We cannot connect automatically to a hidden ssid or closed network. The closed network is protected using 802.1x and certificates etc.The pc's seem to reconnect just fine. His question is:-

I want to have multiple SSID on an access point and the access point broadcasts one SSID but hides the rest of the SSIDs. How can I connect my mac automatically using net manager to the hidden SSID rather than the broadcasted one?

We have to manually type in the network name and security type and then are able to connect to the network, but every time we put our macs to sleep to move around we have to again manually reconnect.
We have already tried trashing airport prefs and have system preferences/network/airport set to preferred networks.

Did you ever get an answer to this one... I'm having the exact same problem.

Multiple IMAP accounts + automatic retrieval

Hello,
I have a 6790 (surge)... I was getting automatic email w/o any problems. But then I added another acount, and bang, it just stoped checking email.
Now I have to go into the inbox, and tell it to get the emails... very annoying... I want my automatic retrieval back!
Has anyone encountered this issue?

Solved:
For incoming mail, I had switched the connection type to: default... if this is set, it won't work. You need to set it to an actual connection... in my case, I choose "Rogers Internet" and it not works, for both accounts.

Smpatch analyze: Failure: Cannot connect to retrieve Database/current.zip:

I get the following error when I run smpatch analyze:
Failure: Cannot connect to retrieve Database/current.zip: Connection reset
I was successfully able to register the system, but keep getting this error with smpatch analyze. I snooped the traffic and saw packets to & from getupdates1.sun.com on port 443, so there is not a firewall problem.
Did I miss a step in the installation?

Looks like the root cause (to me at least) is confusion between the contracted support server and the public updates server. They appear not to be the same...
Since late September all my Sol 8 "smpatch" clients were broken, giving me "Response code was 500" because the LPS / Update Connection Proxy was set to https://getupdates1.sun.com/ which is apparently the public site. ( https://getupdates.sun.com/ didn't work either.)
My Solaris 10 clients were working fine through the LPS, however - or so I thought.
When I just noticed that the patchpro.patch.source on Solaris 8 with 124270-01 is showing https://updateserver.sun.com/solaris/ as the default, I tried that as the LPS patch source URL, and now everything works again - for the first time in weeks.
Disclaimer: We are a support contract customer, so I don't know if this info applies to everyone. My LPS has been registered (has "entitlement") since I set it up in February, so it was a complete surprise that Solaris 8 smpatch clients started failing even after I put 124270-01 on the client and 121118-08 on the Sol 10 LPS.

Hi guys
I've purchased a C2-00 phone, and it seems I don't have the option to automatically retrieve an MMS. There are only two options available: manually and deactivated.
And how does one select an MP3 for the alarm?

Welcome to the Nokia forum and thanks for your recent comment.
To set your device your device for MMS retrieval: go to menu> messages> more>message settings> multimedia messages and select for which SIM you want to receive MMS for.
To set an MP3 as your alarm, select the designated song> options> use tone> set as alarm tone.

EMAIL AUTOMATIC RETRIEVAL PROBLEM

Hi,
I just detected a strange behavior I cannot explain.
I have my n95-4 configured with AUTOMATIC RETRIEVE to get MESSAGES with a maximum size of 5kb by a POP account.
The messages are retrieved, but some of them, when you open them are EMPTY. ALWAYS messages smaller than 5kb. If you pres RETRIEVE again you get the complete message.
This happends in a RANDOM basis, but a lot of times a day.
I have detailed screen shoots if someone is interested.
Any ideas?

What does "Automatic Retrieval" do under email dow...

on my nokia 6303, under my downloading settings for my email, i have various settings:
Retrieve mode
Retrieval amount
Mailbox update interval
Automatic retrieval
I can set mailbox update interval to say 30 minutes or 1 hour or so and the phohne will check for new emails at that interval and report any new ones.
But what does the "automatic retrieval" function do? When i set it to on or off it seems to make no difference. Does anyone know specifically how I should set this?

While you can reset your password, it might be wise to first check and see whether you can retrieve it, which will save you some time as far as setting up new connections on all of your devices with a new password.
On your iMac.....
Open Finder > Applications > Utilities > AirPort Utility
Click on the AirPort router icon, then click Edit in the smaller window that appears
Click the Base Station menu at the top of the screen....up where the other File, Edit, Window, and Help menus reside
Click Show Passwords
