E71 - Difference between Email Notifications & Ema...

I have been trying to achieve as close to Push Email as possible on the E71. While setting up IMAP Accounts, there is the option to chose either one of the two settings under Email Settings : One is Email Notifications & the other is Email Retrieval.
What I found is that if you choose one, you cannot choose the other. Whereas, Mail gets onto the device only when Email Retrieval is selected.
Could anybody here throw some light on this issue ?
Thanks & regards,
Walter

Strait from the manual:
Retrieval settings
To define the retrieval settings, select the e-mail account,
select Options > Edit > Retrieval settings, and define the
following settings:
• E-mail to retrieve — Select whether you want to retrieve
only the e-mail header information such as sender, subject
and date, e-mail, or e-mail with attachments. This setting
is for POP3 mailboxes only.
• Retrieval amount — Select the number of e-mail
messages you want to retrieve from the remote server to
your mailbox.
• IMAP4 folder path — Define the folder path for folders to
be subscribed. This setting is for IMAP4 mailboxes only.
• Folder subscriptions — Subscribe to other folders in the
remote mailbox and retrieve content from those folders.
This setting is for IMAP4 mailboxes only.
Automatic retrieval settings
To define the automatic retrieval settings for an e-mail
account, select the account, select Options > Edit >
Automatic retrieval, and define the following settings:
• E-mail retrieval — Select Enabled to retrieve new e-mail
messages automatically from your remote mailbox, or
Only in home netw. to retrieve new e-mail messages
automatically from your remote mailbox only when you
are in your home network and not, for example, traveling.
• Retrieval days — Select the days on which e-mail is
retrieved to your device.
• Retrieval hours — Define the hours between which the
e-mail is retrieved.
• Retrieval interval — Select the interval between
retrieving new e-mail messages.
• E-mail notifications — Select whether you want to
receive notifications on received e-mail.
So, I think you want to have:
E-mail Notifiations - Disabled
E-mail retrieval - Enabled
Retrieval days - Every day
Retieval hours - All day
Retrieval interval - Every 5 minutes

  • Nokia E71 Difference between Switch mode and Profi...

I have Nokia E71, Phone having option to switch modes and also we have profile option.
Can some body explain the difference between switch mode and having different profile ?.
    Thanks

The profile impacts things like default ringtone, vibration settings, etc.
With the mode switching you can also switch active standby applications and plugins (e.g., work vs. free time).
Personally, I don't use the modes, and with profiles, I only use "General" and "Silent" and don't bother with others.

  • What's the difference between "local reminder" and "push notification?

A friend has been bugging me about this, does anyone know what's the difference between "local reminder" and "push notification" in an iPhone app?

In a nutshell, local notifications are popup notifications from applications on your phone, based on data that's already on the local phone.  Push notifications are popup notifications you get when new info (like an email, tweet, or update from something like Facebook) gets pushed to your device from a server.

  • In ical, how can you tell the difference between a meeting invite and email?

When you send a meeting invite in ical, does the recipient receive a different icon in their inbox to differentiate from an email?

For service stock you can't tell the difference between a new iPad and a refurbished one. Both will come in a plain brown box with the same pattern in model numbers. If you mean between a refurbished one and one new at retail, then other than the obvious difference in packaging, I've read that the model number on refurbished units starts with the letter "F", though I've not confirmed that.

  • HT201342 What is the difference between an @me email and an @icloud email address?

What is the difference between using an @me email address for iCloud and the new option of an @icloud email address offered?

The @icloud address operates like an alias to your @me address.  Any email sent to either your @me or @icloud address is routed to your current @me inbox.  It's just another address that you can use as an alternative to your @me address if you want.

  • What's the difference between storing a folder in "email folder/account" or "local folders"?

I have migrate to Thunderbird from Windows Live Mail and now I would like to know if there's a technical difference between storing my import folders directly into the "email account" folder or into the local folders folder. It seems to me that storing directly in the mail account would make me easier to work, since I can keep the local folder minimized. I have plenty of folders which I use mostly for filters.

I have the same question. In my case, the account is POP3 and, I would think, downloads the mail locally anyway. So, why would I choose the Local folders over the folders with the email address heading?
I can see perhaps why you may use the Local Folders for, say, an IMAP account where you might want to store a local copy, but not so much for POP3.
    Very confusing.

What's the difference between creating a smart group or a group in contacts? Specifically, I want a friend to email her contacts to create a wedding list invite.

On the Apple site explaining the smart group, it says the smart group contacts will automatically update. What does that mean? And for a wedding invite list, what would you recommend using. It's a very large wedding and we want to use those contacts to track invites, gifts, thanks yous, etc.
    Thanks in advance

  • Difference between service order/notification to the maintenace order/notif

    Hello friends,
please explain the Difference between service order/notification to the maintenace order/notif and also to the Sales order.
i have a idea on the above topics. iwnt to have a detailed explanation of the above topics.
I know that service order/notification usually for external services.and maintenance O/notification for internal services .
for every post with descent information, points willl be rewarded

    Dear raj kumar,
    1. Service order and Notification: These are used for Customer Services, i.e., these are used for  processing the customer complaints regarding the equipments technical problems installed at customer locations.
In this scenario, we sell equipments to customer and also offers the services for that equipments on chargeable basis or free of cost as per sales terms and conditions.
    2. Maintenance order and Notification: These are used for Plants, i.e., for processing the complaints of the equipments which are installed within the plant.
In this scenario, we buy the equipments from the vendors and carry out the maintenance ourselves.
    Hope this will be helpful
    Regards,

  • Difference between Gmail and Exchange when setting up email

    Hi all,
When adding my Gmail email details in Settings in iOS7 (Via Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Add Account) I’m presented with the options to use Exchange or Google.
I know back in the early days of the iOS it was always preferable to use Exchange as it synced everything on your phone perfectly (mail, contacts, calendar) but it seems that now the Google option is just as good…?
Other than the capability to push emails to my device (a function that I don't use anyway), is there any other difference between the Exchange and Google options when setting up email?
    Thanks,
    David

I've tested it out on my iOS7 5s; the calendar and contact syncing seems to work absolutely fine though?
This was in reference to the Google option. It syncs mail, calendar, contacts and notes all absolutely fine as far as I can see - I wanted to check I wasn't missing anything.
Any need to get narky there?

  • E71 email notifications

I just bought a E71-2 and love it. I have about 4 email accounts (2 yahoo and 2 Gmail) that I need to be notified when I receive emails. There are only two email notification options under the enabled applications in the mode that I am using.
Can there only be automatic email notification on just two accts? This is supposed to be a business phone and I would expect that there be more than two accts that we can be notified on.
    Any suggestions?

I think i have bigger issue then all of u..
Somehow u managed to set up your e-mail accounts...
I did too,i only set up one e-mail account on this phone, that i use for business,so as soon as i got my E71 i set up my e-mail,with user name and password, but when i press mail button it asks me if i wanna connect to mails box..i press yes..then it says Connecting to mailbox...after 3 seconds i hear beep and it says:
    packet data:
    packet data
    connection unavailable
I'm a T-mobile customer and i of course i do have internet package..
I switched to Nokia from Sonny EXPERIA X1,but with X1 i didn't have these problem..
I installed the SIM card, placed the battery in,turned the phone on,and just added my e-mail account to the phone..There weren't any other kind of settings. I understand that E1 has push e-mail so u get your mail just like SMS,but with E71 i'm not able to either go on any web-sites,nor receive my e-mails..
What did i do wrong??? Any help from u guys would be appreciated, because i really like this phone...

  • Differents Email Notifications for each Collaboration Room Template

    Dear all,
I have two collaboration room templates. I want to know if I can have one Email (Notification) template for Room Template 1 and a second Email (Notification) template for Room Template 2.
    Example:
    For Room Template 1 --- > Invitation Email 1.
    For Room Template 2 --- > Invitation Email 2.
    Cheers,
    Andres.

Without knowing more about your customizations it's not possible to give you an exact answer. However, the way that I do this is by modifying the underlying workflow.
I usually do something like this:
    <Action id='0' process='TaskDefinition-Notification-Process'>
        <Argument name='template' value="mytemplate"/>
        <Argument name='to' value='$(toAddr)'/>
        <Argument name='cc' value='$(ccAddr)'/>
        <Argument name='from' value='%%FROM_ADDRESS%%'/>
        <Return from="notificationException" to="notificationException"/>
</Action>Note the toAddr variable, the ccAddr variable and the single template. You can either build it as one big list of email address and send it out once or use the standard workflow looping techniques and loop over the sub process over and over.
As with anything Sun IDM, there's a thousand ways to do to this, including hooking into a the viewOptions.process variable to define your own workflow where this can be done.
Anyway, that's how I solved it.
