E71 draws more current via GPRS/3G connection

Hello Folks
I have  a E71, "Product code 0558790 and firmware 410.21.010"  I use the nokia email messaging software so internet connection type Edge/3G( Vodafone internet )  and the power consuption of 3G connection very high and  battery is being empty every day. I charge the battery every day.
V300 and older fimware was not draws more current but 3G connection draws more current in the latest V400 and 410 software. How can I extend the battery life of my E71 phone.

Wlan scanning off every time and  I load  the nokia eneryg profiler program to phone so when the gprs data connection begin, eneryg consumption increasing from 0.18 watt  to  --> 1.5 - 2 watt. After the email check finished the consumption decreasing the 0.18 watt. Battery empty every day. No virus, adware etc in the phone, just gprs modem draws more current in the latest V400 and V410 firmware.
Your power figure of 0.18W suggests that there is something running in the background. On my E-71 I get around 0.04W power draw when no apps are running.
Are you running Garmin XT navigator program by any chance? If so, make sure that you've disabled the background services, which use a lot of power.
If I've helped you, you can thank me by clicking the green 'kudos' star on my post. Cheers.

  • Synchronization via GPRS not stable

    Hi all,
we're working on MI 7.0 SP11 with MAU 1.0. For synchronization we will use cradle as well as GPRS. Using cradle, sync works fine. But when we sync via GPRS, the connection doesn't seem to be stable.
Since a loss of connection causes the device to sync endless, we set the following parameters:
    MobileEngine.Sync.TerminateConnectionEnabled true
    MobileEngine.Sync.ConnectionTimeout               180000   (3 minutes)
    MobileEngine.Sync.WaitForResultsTimeout         1800000 (30 minutes)
    MobileEngine.Packaging.Activated                      TRUE
    MobileEngine.Packaging.MaxPackageSize          2
Still we're not really happy with synchronization via GPRS. Terminating connection seems to work only between upload and download and timeout doesn't really work as well.
Does anyone have experience with sync via GPRS and is willing to share her/his knowledge on that topic? Any help is appreciated.
    Thanks an Best Regards,
    Uwe

    Hi Karthik,
we're working with Vodafone cda (CorporateDataAccess). We use the same access for quite a lot of employees with mobile mail and intranet access (Nokia Communicator). With that, I haven't heard about any problems regarding reliability.
We were able to reproduce the sync problem yesterday. What we found out, is that the sync stops after sending the outboud file. The device then usually waits for the inbound file. In our case, the inbound file is received but the mobile device doesn't recognize this. Is get's stuck in the following loop and then just stops (doesn't refresh the screen anymore):

Any idea why the device stops? We have that problem with different devices so it shouldn't be related to modem or hardware. We also tried to change parameter icm/conn_timeout but that didn't really have an effect.

  • How to connect j2me game to another j2me game via gprs

i create a simple game like tic tac toe, but i still confuse how can i play with my friend via gprs. need help in server configuration, and what connection should i use http connection or socket connection. if anyone know the script for my j2me and server please tell me.

If you're using MIDP 1, which is what you need if you plan on deploying the game on an available phone, then the only protocol that you can count on being supported is Http. So if you're looking for portability across a large number of devices then that's what you should use (HttpConnection specifically). Also, since there is no push architecture in MIDP 1, you'll need to use the technique called "polling", which means you're clients are going to have to send requests to the server every few seconds to check for updates in the game.
I actually did a little 2 player tic tac toe to teach myself MIDP, and the code is available at planet source code:
    http://www.planetsourcecode.com/vb/scripts/ShowCode.asp?txtCodeId=3398&lngWId=2
(If the link doesn't work just make a search for MIDP under the Java section).
You have to add a line to the JAD file that has the URL of the servlet, or you can replace:
    String url = getAppProperty("TicTacToe.URL");in sendMessage() with a hard-coded string.
The servlet is very very crude, since I have little experience using Java on the server side and I was more interested in doing the client, and it just links the first two available players and automatically starts a game. But I think it might serve as good starting point for you. And of course, if you are more comfortable with other server-side technologies then you should use them instead of a servlet.

  • How to switch off the internet connection via GPRS by iphone 3G

how to switch off the internet connection via GPRS by iphone 3G?
    need help.
    thanks

Your router may not have given your iPod a valid IP address. Go to Settings > Wifi > your network name and touch the ">" to the right to see the network details. If the IP address shown starts with 169 or is blank then your router didn't provide an IP address and you won't be able to access the Internet.
Sometimes the fix can be as simple as restarting your router (remove power for 30 seconds and restart). Next, reset network settings on your iPod (Settings > General > Reset > Reset network settings) and then attempt to connect. In other cases it might be necessary to update the router's firmware with the latest from the manufacturer's support web pages.
If you need more help please give more details on your network, i.e., your router make/model, the wifi security being used (WEP, WPA, WPA2), etc.

  • Connecting MBP to internet via gprs/bluetooth 6630

    hello guys,
    I'm having an unusually problem
my mobile phone Nokia 6630 surfs the web well and it get connected to a PC to browse the web too just great.
when going Mac, it doesn't do any of this except Syncing in iSync good enough.
every time I try getting MBP connected to internet via gprs& blutooth via Nokia 6630 the system displays an error message which is normally PPP error
I've filled the APN with the correct provider's access point and number with *99#
my provider didn't fill me with the DNS nor PPP setting...
what shall I do to fix this?

    No.

  • Low bandwith distributed network via GPRS

    Hi!
I'm currently designing a distributed network which will consist of about 7 nodes, 3 of which are the water plants of small villages, and the others are wells on the field.
Each node has about 8-10 digital inputs and max. 2 analog input channels.
The system's primary goal is to acquire the state (running/ready/error) of some devices (pumps, freq. converters), display them at a central location and report any errors via SMS.
Local control of the plants is already implemented, as they are complete WILO systems.
Only a minimal control is needed (for each plants to command it's wells if the water level is low or high in the basin).
So I think there should be no need for a lot of data transfer as digital signals should change only few times a day, and it is enough to read even analog signals once per minute.
The project is quite limited financially, so it is not possible to put a cFP controller on each points.
My current plan is to use a central cFP or cRIO controller at the largest plant and place ethernet expansion modules (such as cFP-1804 or NI 9144) on all other (6) points.
The problem is, that the only possible way of communication is via GPRS IP network, so the available bandwith is about 50-60 kbit/s, however the devices will "see" a 100Mbit connection to the routers.
Does anyone have any experience with such a bandwith limited ethernet network?
I'm not sure if the FP Read and Write VIs and/or Shared variables on the central controller bound to expansion modules' channels are using PSP protocol. If so, I assume the required bandwith could be lowered by changing deadband of analog channels. Am I right with this?
The other problem I face with is the possibility of connection errors. Is it possible to setup expansion modules to periodically check a gateway or any network device, and set their outputs to a predefined state?
I also would like to ask if it is possible to use cRIO expansion chassis (NI 9144, which uses EtherCAT) in such a topology, where I have to route packets through a slow GPRS network?
Thank you in advance for any help!

I had an android phone for a couple years and i think there is a compatible remote application similar to apples remote app which works with itunes DJ so those students with android can access itunes dj. That should significantly increase the particiation. With that being said, i just updated to itunes 11, and the interface is much differnt.... and i just noticed there is not more itunes dj that i could find! loved that the voting feature.  I may be missing it so i've emialed apple feedback about it.  I hope that add that feature back on. Anyway, if you use an older version of itunes, dj should be there and i would search for the adroid app i discussed earlier.  sorry, i forget what it was called exactly...

  • I recovered my back up via a wired connection. now Time Machine does not recognise older back ups wirelessly and wants to do a first back up

I recovered a back up from my time machine via a wired connection after getting the 'white screen of death'. Now Time Machine does not recognise any back ups on the time machine when connected wirelessly and wants to do a first back up of the whole machine. How do I get my mac to recognise these older back ups? It connects to the wifi network the time machine creates fine, with the same name and password.

    I recommend the following.
    1. Reset the TC to factory.
Universal Factory Reset.. any model TC or AE.
Unplug your TC/AE from power or turn off at the power point.
Hold in reset. and power the TC/AE back on..  all without releasing reset and keep holding in for about 10sec. (this is often difficult without a 2nd person or a 3rd arm).
Release it when the status light flashes rapidly. If it doesn’t flash rapidly you have missed it and try again.
    Note..
Be Gentle! Feel the switch click on. It has a positive feel..  add no more pressure after that.
TC/AE will reboot after a couple of minutes with default factory settings and will wipe out previous configurations of the router.
No files are deleted on the hard disk in a TC.. No reset of the TC deletes files.. to do that you use erase from the airport utility.
    2. Rename the TC to SMB standard.
That means short names.. 2-20 characters but less than 10 is excellent. eg TCGenx (use number for x that is actual generation of the TC)
    No spaces.
    Pure alphanumeric. No apostrophe.
    3. Ensure IPv6 is set to link-local..
Do the same thing for ethernet if that is used.
    4. Manually mount the TC disk in Finder.
Use Go in the top menu.. connect to server.
    Type in
AFP://TCname.local (where TCname is your new short name for the TC and local is default domain .. it helps using the domain I found).
You will then find the computer either can or cannot find the network resource.. if it fails something else is wrong with the actual network and you will need to fix that.
It will request the password if it is found.. password is public by default unless you changed it.. type in the password and check to keep it in your keychain.
    5. Delete current TM setup and redo it with the newly named TC.
    See A4 here. http://pondini.org/TM/Troubleshooting.html
If your backups cannot be found, try B6 again, now that you actually know that the disk has been properly discovered.

  • Suppress GPRS/EDGE Connectivity

I spent considerable time to figure out a way to remove GPRS/EDGE connectivity from my Nokia X2.
I can't delete the Access Point configuration, no matter how I access it (from the Connectivity menu, from the built-in browser).
There is also no 'always ask' option.
This is obviously a money extortion scheme by my provider. How can Nokia allow something like this?
Is there a way to remove all AP information?
    Thank you

Thank you so much for your assistance.
    Unfortunately, it didn't work.
I create personal settings for web and access point under Settings / Configuration / Personal Settings. I now have to entries there:
    Nil Access Point
    Nil web
These are the names I have given them. I didn't enter any information when creating them other than the name.
I then selected 'Nil Access Point' under Settings / Configuration / Preferred access point.
I also selected 'Personal config' under Settings / Configuration / Default Config Settings.
I then selected Settings / Configuration / Default in all apps.
My Settings / Configuration looks like this now:
    Default config. settings
    Personal config
    Default in all apps.
    Preferred access point
    Nil Access Point
    Personal Settings
I also selected 'Nil Web' in the settings of the build in web browser ('internet').
However, the phone is still connecting via Edge when I open Ovi Store, Communities (Facebook), or browse with the built in web browser.
Is this a joke? I mean **bleep**? I am so disappointed with both my provider and Nokia. I dont expect much from the mobile phone industry but this is a new low.
@ng85 - do you have any more ideas? Again, really appreciate your help. How do I get full control over my phone?

  • Can I use my iPhone or iPad as a web cam for my PC via the USB connection?

I've seen quite a few Apps for doing this wireless, most of which a very poorly executed OR don't work at all. I'm just wondering why it hasn't been more popular to do this via the USB connectivity.

Thanks Lawrence but the point is, I already own the $600 dollar device (given as a gift) and secondly because to purchase a web cam that has the same quality as the iPhone is actually just a bit more than $10 and I'm not really desirous to spend anymore money based on my budget.  Any ideas of whether or not it can actually be done via USB OR do you have experience with an actual App that works via wireless to a PC?  Thanks again...

  • Why is iOS 8.2 not updating on iPhone 5S?  It got me to Agree and nothing happens.  Am doing the update via a Wifi connection.

    Hello,
Why is iOS 8.2 not updating on iPhone 5S?  It got the user to Agree to the Terms and Conditions but nothing happens.  The user is doing the update via a Wifi connection.  Current OS version on the device is 8.1.3.  User did a hard reboot of the device and still the same result.  Not tried using iTunes as a workaround as we want to know why it's not updating via a Wifi connection.  Storage space available is 9G.
If you know of someone who is experiencing the same issue, please let me know the fix.  Thank you.
    Christina

    1. I do not know if this will help you or not. In researching this issue with my wife's iPhone 5c 8GB, the most common answer you will get is to adjust this or that setting, and disable this or that App. These at best are only a band-aide solution at all. The best reply I got was from a Verizon Rep that stated "By design, iPhones do turn off WiFi when they go dormant. So if a download is in progress, or information is being back-up wirelessly and the phone goes dormant, it will switch to use cellular data if it is left on". Afterwards, I discovered the exact same information here on the Apple Support Forum to support this statement.
    2. Later onward, I read that if you keep your iPhone connected to a power source, it will prevent it from going dormant. In which case, this will prevent the iPhone from turning off the WiFi, and keep it connected to the WiFi. So far, this has help the most in controlling the amount of data usage being used, by my wife's iPhone.
    3. Here is a web site that may help you at http://www.iphonehacks.com/2014/09/fix-ios-8-wifi-problems.html .....

I want to send message text via GPRS to my MIDlet
But I wonder how to 'push' it...
I've got the IP address of the MIDlet, but i dont think simply push the message to the IP address will do...coz IP is 'shared' by every application in the mobile phone right?
I wonder should i have an indicator to verify that message is for my MIDlet.
Or I should write a class to be a 'listener' in JAVA to read the data if any?
Any advice will be very very much appreciated!

U can do one think Write Servlet or JSP Application on server. And MIDLEt open one HTTP Connection which access the servlet of the server Then that servlet read the file from anywhere and write the data on outputstream of the httpconnection object

  • Can I have more then one MVIEW site connected to single master site?

    Hi,
I need one help from your end.
Currently I am working on Basic Replication. For that I am using Read only Materialized views.first i tried with one master site & one Materialized view site its working fine,Can I have more then one MVIEW site connected to single master site referring to same database ? if so how to achive this one..

Actually one of my senior told me that you need to change number of OPEN_LINKS value like that so for that reason I asked this question.
    Still that problem not solved..
I will explain what are all the things I did ok.
    IN MASTER SITE:
I am creating read only MVIEW's.
first i created one user repadmin and have given
    1>execute any procedure
    2>dbms_repcat_admin.grant_admin_any_repgroup
    3>dbms_repcat_admin.grant_admin_any_schema
    4>select any dictionary
and all other grants to repadmin user
then I changed global_name = 'zxincmp' on Master site.
Then I created mview log for each table (for 85 tables) & then I created mview's for that table on Master site itself. later I took a dump of these 85 mview's . then I transfered this dump to one of my mview site.
    IN MVIEW site:
I created one user zxdbp_55 and all the above rights are given to this user & i created one public dblink
"zxincmp" using "TO_CMP"(master site). Then I imported that dump which i took from master site.
then i created one private link zxincmp in one of my mview site.then i used DBMS_REFRESH.MAKE('')
to refresh all my tables & to set the interval..
after that i created index on the mviews..
this will works out fine for single master & single mvirew site.but I tried with the same procedure to prepare one more mview site, everything is fine but main problem is second mview site is not getting refreshed automatically,i need to do refresh manually from enterprise manager.. then it will get refreshed.
how to overcome this problem? I am using same db name ,dblink, refresh group for both the mview site will it affects anywhere?
    Thanks & Regards,
    Hanumanth.

  • Sync via GPRS

    Hi all.
Did anyone performed a sync via GPRS?
I am using MAU on Psion with PPC2003 and my sync is running endless.
The data were reset on the client befor syncing so it is a fully download.
In netwaver Administrator I can see that the sync is finished after 2 minutes and this was one hour ago.
When I look into the data folder I do not see any SyncBo related files.
    Any ideas?
    Cheers,
    Sascha

    Hi Karthick.
I am sorry I do not know all the details. This is all managed by the clients company.
As far as I know the client has a contract with E-Plus which is a large service provider (mobile phones) in germany. So they get SIM cards which are installed in the devices. The mobile phone numbers of these cards are then registered at the services provider side and the client side to define which numbers are allowed to access the connection thrue the access point.
To reach the access point the provider sets up something like a vpn tunnel which can be access by the registerd SIM cards.
I do not know the costs, sorry.
On the device you have to enter the access point and user data in the connection profile for you SIM card / GPRS.
So you should contact some service providers located in you country to find out how everything is set up and how much it costs.
    Cheers,
    Sascha

Everytime I open my Calendar function on the iPhone (just to see the days and dates) the iPhone attempts to sync over the air with my Outlook account calendar via GPRS.
This costs a bomb on the prepaid card, and I want to stop the sync function.
Would someone kindly tell me how to STOP the iPhone from syncing with my Outlook Calendar?

If calendar events are synced over the air, this means you are accessing an Exchange account or a MobileMe account.
If you don't want to sync calendar events over the air with the account, you need to turn Calendars off for over the air syncing for the account preferences on your iPhone. This will erase all calendars and calendar events from your iPhone and you will need to sync direct with a supported application on your computer via the iTunes sync process. If an Exchange account with Outlook on a Winblows PeeCee, this will not be possible.

  • Screen-Sharing and Internet-Sharing via same network connection

    Hello out there,
I'm using a TiBook (G4 867MHz) and a MacBook Pro 17". They are connected via a WLAN-router. Additionally the MBP is connected to the internet via an UMTS-connection established with a Merlin 870XU type PC-card.
Network is working fine, including screen-sharing. Also the internet connection on MBP works without error. But if I activate Internet-Sharing via WLAN to get my TiBook connected to the internet, the MBP connection to the WLAN is cut off.
Can somebody tell me what's going wrong and how to solve it?
