E71 Firmware Reinstall - BIG Problem

I have been having some 'memory leak' problems with my Nokia e71 recently so took the opportunity just now to attempt to reinstall the firmware via the Nokia Software Updater programme on my PC.
It got so far (presumably to the point where it had deleted the previous version and was about to start installing the new copy) when the computer flashed up a message saying that the USB connection had been lost and that I should turn off and then on the phone again and then reconnect the USB cable to finish the job.
Problem is, the phone is in a blank screen state due to being halfway through the reinstall and no amount of pressing any button turns it off, on, into any kind of useable mode and that means at the moment that I am a) without a phone, b) uncontactable and c) hugely annoyed.
Putting the USB into my other computer (or indeed, restarting the initial one) doesn't do anything because with the phone to all intents and purposes 'off', neither PC detects any hardware being connected.

When you remove oracle XE, the uninstall system "forget" to delete the route of the bin directory in the PATH variable

Windows Vista won't start or install - firmware or EFI problem?

I am running Snow Leopard on a 2.4GHz MacBook Pro, late 08 - early 09 model. I have been using boot camp to run Vista for the past year with no problem. This morning, I tried to start up Vista and it wasn't working. I got the option key screen to choose between OSX and Vista, but after choosing vista, the cursor blinks once and I get a black screen. The computer is quiet and nothing seems to be running.
At first I thought it was a boot camp problem. So I went into OSX, de-partitioned the drive, and repartitioned it. I then stuck the Vista install disk in, and clicked through the boot camp assistant to reinstall. The computer restarted to begin the reinstall process, but instead of starting the install disk, it did the same thing - a single blip of cursor, and then a black screen.
I'm not technically savvy, but that seems like it's not a Windows problem, but a firmware or EFI problem. The computer will run OSX, but it won't run boot camp and it won't start from a CD-ROM. The only other steps I've taken are to run Software Update and the Disk Utility from Safari. Neither helped. I'm out of warranty and would love to be able to fix it without spending tons of money. Any help is appreciated.

Basic Troubleshooting Steps when all else fails
- Quit the App by opening multi-tasking bar, and swiping the App upward to make it disappear. (For iOS 6 older, hold down the icon for the App for about 3-5 seconds, and then tap the red circle with the white minus sign.)
- Relaunch the App and try again.

- Reset All Settings (Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings)

You may try the list and see how far down you need to go; you have probably been through 1) and 2), and 4) is both reversible and more thorough than 3); 5) is hardly relevant, so you may end up with 6).
The following is a general list of things you may try when the issue is not in a specific file (you may have tried/done some of them already); 1) and 2) are the easy ones for temporary strangenesses, and 3) and 4) are specifically aimed at possibly corrupt preferences); 5) is a list in itself, and 6) is the last resort.
If possible/applicable, you should save current artwork first, of course.
1) Close down Illy and open again;
2) Restart the computer (you may do that up to at least 5 times);
3) Close down Illy and press Ctrl+Alt+Shift/Cmd+Option+Shift during startup (easy but irreversible);
4) Move the folder (follow the link with that name) with Illy closed (more tedious but also more thorough and reversible);
5) Look through and try out the relevant among the Other options (follow the link with that name, Item 7) is a list of usual suspects among other applications that may disturb and confuse Illy, Item 15) applies to CC, CS6, and maybe CS5);
Even more seriously, you may:
6) Uninstall, run the Cleaner Tool (if you have CS3/CS4/CS5/CS6/CC), and reinstall.

Big problems with slideshows

Hi, I've a big problem with iPhoto (and Aperture too, but I'll say later).
Two days ago I was creating a small slideshow (18 pictures) and everything was fine. Suddenly, while I was looking for a theme, switching between 3 of them, iPhoto stopped to work. No ESC, no key, I had to restart my iMac, turning it off.
From this moment every slideshow I select, iPhoto stop to work and need a force quit. So I restored a library, from Time machine, but nothing changed.
So I bought Aperture, but nothing changed, using iPhoto Library.
Now I've created an Aperture Library, importing in it my old iPhoto Library. Is there any way to "clean" iPhoto, reinstalling it from new? Do I need such a action?

That means that there is something in your account that's the culprit. First try the following:
1 - delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your
User/Home/Library/ Preferences folder.
2 - delete iPhoto's cache file, Cache.db, that is located in your
User/Home/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder (Snow Leopard and Earlier).
or with Lion and Mt. Lion from the User/Library/Containers/com.apple.iPhoto/
Data/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder
3 - launch iPhoto and try again.

If that fails it might be another preference file that's causing the problem. Here's how to test for that:

A - open the working Home/Library/Preferences folder.
B - Open the Preferences folder on the Desktop, select all of the contents and drag them into the working Home/Library/Preferences folder.
C - When the Copy window pops up check the "Apply to All" check box and then click on the Don't Replace or Skip button.
D - reboot.
7 - If the problem is NOT fixed, drag the contents of the Preference folder on the Desktop into the Home/Library/Preference folder and replace the entire contents that were created by clicking on Replace.
8 - reboot.

Having big problems with Creative Zen Micro Photo!! I need much urgent help!

Hi. I am having a big problem with my MP3 Creative Zen Micro Photo device at the computer.Here is the thing:Before I bought this I had the regular Zen Micro & having fun with it. I had no problems with that when I used the Media Explorer to transfer songs. So I bought the Zen Micro Photo & installed it my computer. As normal I used the Media Explorer to transfer songs & pictures.So I reinstalled Windows XP at my computer, and when I installed the CD that followed to transfer new songs, the Windows said that it's an unknown thing I have connected in the USB.So I installed Service Pack & 2. I have tried to install drivers from the cd but it seems that there are no drivers on the cd! The big problem is that when I connect the MP3 to the computer, it doesn't read it's a Zen Micro, it's just unknown! So the Zen Micro Photo Media Explorer program doesn't work & I can't transfer songs or picture on it! And it just happened after I re-installed Windows on my computer. The same thing happened on my brother's computer after he re-installed windows. And when I connect the MP3 to the USB, it says that it's not a USB 2.0, but .! And I am sure it is 2.0 because it has always been like that before I re-installed windows. Also the MP3 does not re-charge when I put it my computer! The battery is just the same, it tries to do it but it doesn't. So I am using my sisters computer to charge the MP3 & transfer songs. I have tried everything but I can't seem to understand what the problem is? I have never experienced something like this before, and I really hope you can help me with this! To be honest I think what I am missing is the driver. So can someone PLEASE provide me the link for the driver? I have downloaded all those 3 on www.creative.com, but they are none of them! According to my knowledge, Chat option isn't available on newer phones. Not even on my 6233, though it was available on my old 1100. If 6300s of your friends have it, it must be something firmware related. As you have the Live Postcard option, it must be a Vodafone phone. So may be in newer or older firmware versions, the chat option might be available. So check it with your operator. It never is anything Personal Configuration related unless this MESSENGER is a Java app. I think you mean that Chat is a main feature available in your messaging menu, not in a sub menu like Instant Messaging. Hope this helps.

You need to re-install Aperture because it' missing bits of itself:
library not loaded: ...
... Reason: no suitable image found.
To re-install Aperture
1. Put the Aperture.app in the trash (Drag it from your Applications Folder to the trash)
2. Go to HD/Library/Receipts and remove any pkg file there with Aperture in the name
3. Re-install.
Of course you will back up your Library and photos first.

Big problem with Airport Extreme and Vivax Provider in Brazil

Hello guys.
I live in Brazil and I bought my Airport Extreme in a recent trip to USA.
For some years I was a client of Telefonica and had an ADSL link, I had a D'Link G604T to do both the modem and router operation in the same box. I was happy with my connection of 1Mbps.
In a recent promotion of Vivax I switched to a cable connection to have both TV and Internet at the same operator, my link now has 3Mbps.
With this pack I also received free one RCA cable modem model DCM425B, it was installed fine in one computer only. Everything was fine my connection was faster the old one.
So I went to install the Airport Extreme to make things even better.
After I installed I went to see the web status of my modem, all parts were looking fine, but the modem could not see the computer. Bad sign.
I talked to Vivax support people and apparently it was a problem with their network setup and they manage to make it right. My model now sees my computer.
After that problem was solved I could not make AE to work with the modem, it had the green light and the setup looked fine, but I could not open any site. I tried to turn off my modem and AE, waited some minutes and turned on first my modem and after it was up I turned on AE. All lights looked fine but again no connection to any site.
I called again the Vivax support center and they tried to help me but the don't know AE and they could not help me with all the details but said there was 2 10.x.x.x coming from my side. So I tried to use in bridge mode. I also selected the 192.x.x.x range instead of 10.x.x.x as default.
After many setups and turn off and on again my connection is working but I have a big problem with wireless. If I turn it on I loose my connection, it seems that AE sends 2 equal ethernet address to Vivax and their network don't like it cutting me off.
So my connection setup is like this:
RCA Cable modem model DCM425B at 3Mbps using a 200.x.x.x ip
Airport Extreme connected to a Mac and a Windows PC by wire using the 192.x.x.x range ip
Wireless is off
Bridge mode is on
This the only way I could make it work.

After a firmware update it worked fine.

Big Problem with Zen Micro - won't be detec

I got a big problem now with my Zen Micro 5GB. Since Saturday I have having my new PC, Fujitsu Scaleo
Intel Pentium D 2,8 GHz dual Processor
024MB Ram
PCI-e mainboard
Ati x700se Video Card
Windows XP with SP2 and several updates were already installed
Windows Media Player 0
Now, the problem is, I can't really use it on my PC. A few weeks ago I had the very old firmware. But then I thought I update it (why? I don't know...)I Updated to the version ..0 from Jul 05. It worked anyway...
So I plugged in the MP3 player to my new pc but it was not really detected or it did not want to work. When it was plugged in, I couldnt open any program. Even if it was Media Source or Opera or winamp... They did not appear. But they were "open" as they appeared in the task manager. So I couldnt use Media Source. So I tried with Zen Media Explorer, all buttons there were clickable but when I clicked on one butteon (like organize music...) it didnt react...
so I thought: "ok with this firmware, it wont work" So I updated the firmware to 2.2.02 Plays for sure. Neither with the new Media Source on your site nor with Zen Media Explorer (I installed the Update)it does not work. The plays for sure plugin for Media Source wasnt as well helpful. I can drag and drop files on my mp3 player, OK this is one way, but still when it is plugged in, I cant use any other program, as I cant open them.
I dont want to use the drag and drop way as I then have to download a program for editing mp3 tags and I cant as well make playlists...With Media Source it was so easy... I want to use Media Source and I want my PC react even if my Zen Micro is plugged in...
So what to do? I thought about installing the very old firmware what I had before I updated to ..0 but where can I download it's

MediaSource with the PFS plugin should work, if the player is being detected properly.
Presumably it isn't, so you need to verify this by looking in Device Manager when the player is connected.

Small problem led to big problem

I had a few contacts that existed on my Centro which did not exist on my desktop. So I contacted the Palm Chat Support. The person who helped me had me perform several things which eventually led to my phone getting stuck in a loop. Things were not getting better so I asked to be transferred to a supervisor. The supervisor told me the only solution was a hard reset. I finally agreed to this. Now when I reinstall any applications (not third-party) such as calendar or address book, my phone won't come on. I can see the calendar or the address book but when I go to turn on the phone, it goes back into the endless loop. A soft reset will not take it out of the loop, only a hard reset. When I do a hard reset, I then have the ability to use the phone again but I have no data in my calendar, address book, etc. So essentially I have either a PDA or a Phone--but I can't have both. This started as a very small problem (a few missing contacts which I could have probably/should have probably just manually entered into the desktop). Now I have a very big problem, simply b/c of what I was directed to do by Support. Is there any hope?

There could be to issues going on here that you are having this result. One thing could be corrupted data such as your contacts or calendar, the other could be corrupted programs that are coming back from a hotsync.
The first I would like to troubleshoot as it is the easiest. To fix this what we need to do is hard reset your device. The instructions to do that is here http://kb.palm.com/wps/portal/kb/common/article/887_en.html this tells you how to do all types of resets. Also, what we need to do is rename your backup folder. What this folder is, it hold all your programs from the last time you synced your PC. On your computer go here

My Documents/Documents --> Palm OS Desktop --> your hotsync username
Right click on your backup folder and rename it to "backupOld". Resync your device to the same user name and you will get all your contacts, calendar, tasks, and memos.
You can install the programs again but make sure they are compatible with the device. Also try one program again and wait 24 hours to see if the same thing happens again. This way you know what program is causing the issue.

BIG problem! System's folder got deleted. Please help.

I have a quite big problem here. I accidently delete my system's folder out of the macintosh HD. I was going to delete a folder right beside it but it appears that i delete the wrong one. I know, pretty stupid eh. Symptoms are: cannot login to the OS when the computers starts; flashing of "prohibitory sign" during the startup constantly for about a minute and booted up on windows (i have windows installed in my MBP).
I've read so many different apple's articles about this. There is one about archive and install (can be found here http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=107120 ). It told me to reInstall the OS. So i followed these steps and stopped when i can't select Preserve users and network settings. I assumed that "preserve users and network" is the option that will keep my files rite? The reason im doing this is because I dont want lose all my files inside. There are so many songs and important files inside and I can't think whats going to happen if I lose all that files.
Any of you guys have suggestion or solution to this riddle? Help is greatly appreciated. Thx a for the attention.

Archive and Install will save the old system in a Previous System Folder. It does not delete anything. However, it will not preserve anything that was in your deleted System folder because you deleted it.
A question is how did you empty the Trash? The System folder cannot be deleted unless you authenticate which means you can't delete it 'accidentally.' It's possible the folder is still in the Trash. If that be the case simply open a Finder window on the Trash and drag the System folder back to it's proper location. Of course to do this you will have to be able to start up the computer. If you have a backup system on an external Firewire drive that would do just fine. If not, then you could try to get access to another Mac that supports Firewire. You can then connect the two via Firewire cable. Then boot your computer into Target Disk Mode, then boot the other computer normally. You computer's hard drive will appear on the other computer's Desktop. You can then gain access to the Trash to restore the System folder, assuming you haven't actually emptied the Trash.

I need an help for a big problem,
suddenly after having download a big image from an email of a friend,,my IMAC is not able to connect to web pages with any browser,,but the line is working because the mail is working in this mac and everythings works with other PC connected at the same router.
then I tried to reinstall Panther from original disc,,,and now is worste then before because many softwear doesn't work if I don't update the 10.3 to 10.3.9 (as I had before the reinstall) but I can't do that because it is impossible to access to any web site,,,
I don't know what to do,,
someone has any idea and can help me???

Let's start with the attempt to re-install.
1. Did you make a backup of all you can't afford to lose?
2. What install option did you use to re-install?
3. After the re-installation, does everything except the internet work properly?
4. What browser are you using?
While I await your response tot he above, try this:
Boot from your Panther install disk holding down the "C" key.
Go to the Installer menu and launch Disk Utility.
Select your HDD (manufacturer ID) in left panel and First Aid in main panel.
Click on Repair. If Disk Utility reports no errors, quit DU.
If DU reports errors click Repair again and again until DU reports the disk has been repaired.
If DU reports errors it cannot repair you will need to use a utility like Tech Tool Pro or Disk Warrior
